Tropes associated with Sykkuno:

  • Cat Boy: Occasionally has dressed or (somewhat reluctantly) allowed himself to be made up as a cat boy, and a v-tuber model he unveiled on April 1, 2023 includes cat ears and a tail.
  • Catchphrase: "Oh Jesus!" is the main one. Responding to anything good he does in a game by saying he just got lucky or insisting that girls aren't into him despite all evidence to the contrary are also up there.
  • Character Tic: Two of them.
    • He touches his left ear phone while talking.
    • He holds his hand over his mouth with most of his expressions, especially when smiling.
  • Color Motif: Green is his trademark color, and his animated avatar has both green clothing and a green and white scarf. In Among Us, his lobbies are so used to seeing Sykkuno using a dark green shade that fans and other streamers have mentioned feeling thrown if he plays with a different color.
  • Chick Magnet: He is considered to have a higher female audience than most of his friends.
  • Confusion Fu: His constant trolling often leaves other players unsure of when he's being serious and when he's just playing harmless games and can be safely ignored. (For example, in one particularly notable case, Fuslie was absolutely sure that Sykkuno was just trolling when he flat out told her he was about to kill her in Among Us, only to be comically shocked when he actually went through with it.) On the flip side, sometimes people refuse to listen to him when he's being serious and try to warn them about things.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Sykkuno's image of a shy and slightly derpy gamer boy is so powerful and endearing that potential opponents often don't realize he's very skilled and very sneaky, and consequently end up paying the price.
  • Dressed to Heal: Appeared in an OfflineTV video in a nurse's outfit, much to everyone's delight. Brodin apparently offered him a Naughty Nurse Outfit as well, but he declined to wear it.
LilyPichu: We will waive your rent for one month if you wear the fishnet nurse outfit!
  • The Gadfly: Sykkuno becomes one in this video, intentionally getting killed and misleading teammates in an effort to sabotage the game. At one point, Lily calls him out on this, to which he blames it on stress... and immediately attempts to get killed again, despite Anklespankin offering him a free trip to PAX if they win the game.
  • Ham and Deadpan Duo: Sykkuno is the ham to Corpse's deadpan.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: He quickly became one with the reclusive Corpse Husband, and he is one of the few people who can meet with Corpse in person.
  • I Am Not Pretty: A bit of a Running Gag with him; while many people (friends and fans alike) have described him as looking like a real-life anime Pretty Boy, he's repeatedly insisted that he's not really that attractive, with "girls aren't into me" and variations thereof practically being his Catchphrase.
  • Large Ham: Whenever he plays Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel with his friends with a mic, you can be sure he'll waste most of his time in monologuing a convoluted chain reaction to get a powerful card early in the game.
  • Like Brother and Sister: He and Valkyrae have this dynamic with each other. The two can bounce between being competitive rivals to a dangerously effective team to affectionate and sweet to trolling each other mercilessly, sometimes doing all of the above within minutes. It did take some time before Rae would admit to it, however, despite fans pointing out their "sibling energy" soon after they started playing together. (In one of the earlier cases where Rae was asked if she felt like Sykkuno was like a brother to her, she snorted and responded, "More like the cousin that I want to get in a fistfight with every time I see him.")
  • Overzealous Underling: This is what caused the semi-infamous "Babushka Incident". During a game of Among Us with proximity chat on, Sykkuno and Rae worked out a code word ("Babushka!") as a signal to kill. Then in the following round, Sykkuno mistook Rae telling others about it for a legitimate use of the code word, and without trying to assess the situation or verify if it was a legitimate use of the code word immediately followed through with the killing, despite being himself and Rae being surrounded by three crewmates. Improbably (and hilariously) enough, it worked out for them.
Sykkuno: (panicking in the chaos after the first killings) I heard the code word! I heard the code word!
Valkyrae: You heard the code word, yeah that was very... you acted very quickly, but there were five people here! So we, you know, we gotta be a little bit more- (trails off)
  • Running Gag: When playing Among Us, he often claims that the Impostor "definitely could have been [him]", whether he's the Impostor or not.
  • Say My Name: Many players have a tendency to shout his name, often in frustration or exasperation due to his antics. They might also adapt his name to circumstances, such as calling him "Suskuno" when behaving suspiciously in Among Us, or "Netkuno" when messing with nets in Raft.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: He often experiences this with Valkyrae, so much so that fans have joked that the two share a single brain cell and made entire YouTube videos showcasing them acting in tandem or synchronizing actions without discussing it beforehand. Rae herself once compared it to Twin Telepathy, although being an occasional Malaproper, she called the two of them "Infernal Twins" when trying to say fraternal twins. (Naturally, fans pointed out that "infernal twins" also works as a good description for them, and many friends and fellow streamers have come to semi-jokingly refer to Valkyrae and Sykkuno as "the twins".)
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Despite the frequency of how often they played together and how often fans declared how he and Valkyrae were like siblings, she was slow to accept him at first, but over time began warming to him more. After two years of constant interaction, she now calls him one of her best friends, although the two will still happily troll each other all day long.
