The Office de Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française (French Radio Broadcasting and Television Office), acronym "ORTF", was the French agency charged, between 1964 and 1975, with providing public radio and television in the country. It was based in Paris. All programming, including (and especially) news broadcasts, was under strict control of the government, particularly under the presidency of Charles de Gaulle.

The more liberal presidency of Valéry Giscard d'Estaing dissolved the ORTF in 1974 right after being elected, splitting its services into seven successor public institutions with less in the way of a government leash, shaping up much of the basic public French radio and television landscape as we know it today:

  • Télévision Française 1 (TF1, privatized in 1987)
  • Antenne 2 (since rebranded France 2)
  • France Régions 3 (FR3) (since rebranded France 3)
  • SFP - Société Française de Production (programme production)
  • INA - Institut National de l'Audiovisuel (archives)
  • TDF - Télédiffusion de France (transmission)
  • Radio France - (Société Radio-France) French national and international radio
