Nintendo Software Technology Corporation, simply known as Nintendo Software Technology or NST, is an American video game developer based in Redmond, Washington. Currently based out of Nintendo of America's offices, the studio is best known for developing the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series of puzzle platformers.
The oldest of Nintendo's Western first-party studios, Nintendo Software Technology was founded in 1998 in collaboration with the DigiPen Institute of Technology, with the goal of creating titles that would be focused mainly on the North American market. As the private university and Nintendo of America had worked together to create its game design and programming courses a few years prior, much of the studio's early staff consisted of the program's instructors and recent graduates, with the studio even sharing the same building as DigiPen's main campus until 2010 and continuing to have a close relationship with the university to this day.
