989 Studios (originally known as Sony Interactive Studios America) was a development studio of Sony Computer Entertainment America, known for its development on the first two Syphon Filter games, Twisted Metal 3 and 4, and a handful of licensed sports games (NFL GameDay, NCAA GameBreaker, NBA ShootOut, NHL FaceOff, etc.) The original team lasted from 1995-2001, after which they were merged back into SCEA to develop sports games for the PlayStation 2.
