Melinda Rose Dillon (October 13, 1939 – January 9, 2023) was an American actress, best known for her Academy Award-nominated performances in Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) and Absence of Malice (1981) and her roles in such other films as A Christmas Story (1983) and Magnolia (1999).
She was married to actor Richard Libertini from 1963 to 1978 and they have one child.
