"I never was an ingenue."
Lee Grant (born Lyova Haskell Rosenthal; October 31, 1925 in New York City) is an American actress and director best known for her performances in such films as In the Heat of the Night, Valley of the Dolls, and Shampoo, the latter winning her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
She was married to writer Arnold Manoff (with whom she had two children, including Dinah Manoff) and is currently married to producer/actor Joseph Feury. She was, famously, deprived of work for over a decade due to being blacklisted during the 1950s Red Scare.
