Tropes
- Ability over Appearance: In Pan's Labyrinth, Ofelia was written to be a younger girl, aged seven to nine. Ivana was twelve, however, Guillermo del Toro was so impressed with her audition that he rewrote Ofelia's age to accommodate her.
- Fake American: She's played American characters multiple times, with a perfect accent (due to having studied English from an early age in Spain).
- Star-Making Role: She got her big break when she was twelve years old in 2006 when she was cast as the lead in Pan's Labyrinth, which earned her many awards and acclaim.
