High Moon Studios is a video game developer that was formed in 2001 as Sammy Studios (formerly Sammy Entertainment, Inc. until 2003), the American division of Sammy Corporation. In 2005, after its parent company merged with Sega and exited the video game business, president and CEO John Rowe bought back the company; after this, it was renamed to its current moniker and became an independent developer, debuting with the release of Darkwatch on Xbox and PlayStation 2. The company later became a part of Vivendi Universal Games and is now a development studio for Activision, with three different Transformers games under its belt. Since 2014, Activision has shifted the company into a support development role for the Call of Duty and Destiny series. High Moon became a member of Xbox Game Studios through Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard in 2023.
