Epic was an imprint of Marvel Comics initially formed during 1982 which ended during the mid-1990s. Like with Icon Comics, Epic's imprint allowed comic creators could still retain creative rights over their work. The Epic imprint catered to mature audiences and published mostly creator owned work. The Epic imprint was eventually overshadowed and replaced by Icon Comics.

The Epic imprint was inspired by the popularity of the Marvel Comics magazine named Epic Illustrated, which was targeted for more mature audiences similar to Heavy Metal.

The Epic imprint published work related to other franchises such as: AKIRA, ElfQuest, Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, Samurai Cat, William Shatner's Tek War, Weaveworld. The Epic imprint also featured much work from Clive Barker.
