"I did feel at the time that I was working with a very professional bunch of people - As You Know the films were made on a tight budget which made retakes a luxury."

Bill Pertwee, MBE, born William Desmond Anthony Pertwee, (21 July 1926 — 27 May 2013), was a British actor best known for playing Warden Hodges in Dad's Army.

His career started in radio comedy, providing voices for Beyond Our Ken and Round the Horne. He also provided a warm-up act for recordings of TV shows.

His biggest role was Warden Hodges in Dad's Army, which he played in 60 episodes of the series, the radio adaptations, It Sticks Out Half a Mile and the film version. Sticking with David Croft's sitcoms, he made guest appearances in It Ain't Half Hot, Mum and Hi-de-Hi!, and a main role in You Rang, M'Lord? as Constable Wilson.

Pertwee was a cousin of fellow actor Jon Pertwee. He died at the age of 86.
