Avalanche Studios is a game developer based in Stockholm, Sweden, founded in March 2003 by Christofer Sundberg and Linus Blomberg. The studio is primarily known for the Just Cause franchise, a series of open-world action-adventure games published by Eidos Interactive and later Square Enix. All games are developed using the in-house Avalanche Engine. A studio in New York was officially opened on November 17, 2011, and the first title set to be developed by the New York division was revealed to be Just Cause 3.

In a video interview with Game Informer, Sundberg revealed that the company will focus more on developing more new original intellectual property and the company's focus will be shifted to more self-publishing in the future, despite continuing to work with other larger publishers.

Not to be confused with American developer Avalanche Software, the makers of Hogwarts Legacy and the Disney Infinity and Tak and the Power of Juju series.
