Sir Anthony Hope Hawkins (1863-1933), better known as Anthony Hope, was an English novelist and playwright. A prolific writer, he is best remembered today as the author of two adventure novels - The Prisoner of Zenda and its sequel Rupert of Hentzau. Both are set in the fictional country of Ruritania and are credited with popularising (if not creating) the genre of adventure novels set in fictional European locations.
