Sir Anthony Hope Hawkins (1863-1933), better known as Anthony Hope, was an English novelist and playwright. A prolific writer, he is best remembered today as the author of two adventure novels - ''Literature/ThePrisonerOfZenda'' and its sequel ''Rupert of Hentzau''. Both are set in the fictional country of Main/{{Ruritania}} and are credited with popularising (if not creating) the genre of adventure novels set in fictional European locations.
