Destiny, NY is an independent comic created by Pat Shand and Manuel Preitano, and published through Shand's Space Between Comics. It was funded via Kickstarter.
Logan McBride was a special child with a special, mystical destiny. She fulfilled that destiny when she was only thirteen. Now in her thirties, Logan struggles to make a living as a writer to prove that she hasn't already accomplished her life's mission.
The series has a spin-off, Smoke Weed, See the Future, also written by Shand.
This series contains examples of:
- Butch Lesbian: Logan's ex, Lilith, is a lesbian with short hair and a side cut.
- Chosen One: Logan was born with a mystical destiny. She completed that destiny when she was thirteen, and has been trying to figure out what to do with her life ever since.
- Desperately Seeking A Purpose In Life: Logan has been trying to figure out what to do with herself ever since fulfilling her prophecy at age thirteen.
- Former Child Star: Logan compares her situation to that of a child star who got famous for a show or movie years ago but has faded away since. She's been trying to make something of herself, but so far nothing has worked out.
- Incompatible Orientation: In the short story "Right Now & Always", Logan goes on a road trip with her favorite stripper, Jade, hoping that it will lead to something more. She is incredibly disappointed to discover that Jade is straight.
- Mushroom Samba: In "Right Now & Always", Logan takes a drug called "transcentago" in the hopes of gaining a new perspective on life. What she gets is a drug trip in which she has visions of herself at various points in her life.
- Spin-Off: Destiny spawned a spin-off series, Smoke Weed, See the Future, which is set in the same universe, and follows the adventures of Taylor Hart, one of Logan's exes, as she leaves New York and tries to set up a pot business.
