  • The Determinator: No matter what happens, they never give up on their quest.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief:
    • Fighter: Warrior
    • Mage: Mage
    • Thief: Rogue
  • Hidden Depths: The Shadow attempts to convince the characters to join by preying on their doubts
    • Blythe feels guilt due to not being there to save his brother
    • Abbie feels that her sister is a deadweight, although she still cares for her.
    • Renee secretly wants to believe that her rival admires and respect her.
    • Cyril doubts on whether the Silver Eye gave him a purpose or just using him as a pawn.
    • Hassan doubts on whether his quest to get the scroll has been stained by blood, due to misunderstanding.
    • Svala, despite hating the demon earlier, wants him to come back to her after he's suddenly silent.
  • Rogue Protagonist: With the exception of Aloyius and Gallus, they end up driven mad by the curse.

Time to plunder
A rogue from Varois, she went into the tower to plunder treasure at the request of The Marquis
  • Action Girl: Is the most melee-oriented out of all the female characters.
  • Badass Normal: Has only a dagger and some items dropped from pickups, yet that doesn't stop her from plundering the tower
  • Back Stab: She can deal double damage from backstabs
  • Close-Range Combatant: Has lowest range with no access to projectiles.
  • Combat Pragmatist: With kicks as well as dashes she prefers to fight her enemies dirty
  • Kick Chick: Can kick enemies yo stun them as well as dealing minor damage
  • Loveable Rogue
  • Lightning Bruiser: Has the third highest health after warrior, and like warrior can get damage reduction. She also can dash as well as have high DPS counting Back Stab
  • The Rival: Antoine
  • Token Evil Teammate: Downplayed, unlike other characters, her motivation is completely selfish. However, she's not actually evil.
  • Video Game Dashing: Can dash through her enemies.

An adventurer from the Fenns that seeks knowledge about the mysterious Silver Eye
  • An Ice Person: Tears of the Ice Queen allows him to slow enemies while dealing Damage Over Time
  • Anti-Magic: His latern removes all magic surrounding him
  • Back Stab: In the PC version, he can get a dirk that allows him to Back Stab
  • Casting a Shadow: He can get shadow-magic themed items such as the Shadowlamp Lantern
  • Cool Sword: Has a shortsword as weapon, and can get other shortswords throught the Emberforge
  • Fantasy Character Classes: The Swashbuckler
  • Herd-Hitting Attack: Lantern damages entire mobs, but forces you to stand still for a half of second, leaving you exposed to melee attacks.
  • Glass Cannon: Red Death reduce his healing but give him an One-Hit Kill that procs often
  • Jack of All Trades: He doesn't excel at anything except healing, but his upgrades allow him to emulate other class.
  • Light 'em Up: Has lantern that deals damage as well as blocks magic and can get holy weapons such as the Sunnebrand.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: Orvar's Shield works similar to warrior's shield, and it can also stun melee attackers.
  • Magical Eye: Is guided by a magical eye from his dreams.
  • Magikarp Power: He starts weaker than other classes, but through emberforges he can get powerful items such as a sword that gives him increased healing as well as increase drop rates.
  • Mighty Glacier: Giant's Knife switch his shortsword with warrior's greatsword instead, which is slower but has wider arc and range.
  • One-Hit Kill: He can get Red Death, a shortsword that has a chance to instantly kill enemies.
  • The Paralyzer: Start with amulet that can stun two enemies.
  • Video Game Dashing: Can get dashes that uses charges through emberforge upgrades

Inside the tower at least!
A spellsword from the Abadian Empire, that seeks to find a scroll as a way for pilgrimage
  • Awesome, but Impractical: His charged attack stuns enemies while dealing good amount of damage, there's just one problem: It costs him all of his precious energy which can be used to dash instead.
    • Akame Scroll allows him to blink instead of dashing, but it cost way more energy, making it impractical
  • Critical Status Buff: He can get crit chances as well as more damage at low health using certain upgrades
  • Fragile Speedster: Has second lowest health in the game, but can dash many times
  • Item Caddy: Can use scroll spells such as fireball better than any other class, including mage, through upgrades
  • Magic Knight: Can get spells pickups as well as magic related upgrades
  • Mercy Invincibility: He can get an upgrade that makes his invunerability frame longer.
  • Playing with Fire: Can burn enemies with certain upgrades
  • Sinister Scimitar: Averted, he has a shamshir but isn't in anyway evil
  • Time Master: Can double the duration of time-based items using upgrades.
  • Video Game Dashing: Unlike the rogue, he can't pass through enemies

    Svala, the Cultist

An Alvarian ex-cultist that seeks ways to remove the demon that is possesing her.
  • Back Stab: Can deal even more damage than rogue through upgrades
  • Combat Pragmatist: Even more so than rogue, she has a ranged power shot as well as abilities to blind enemies and become invisibile
  • Critical Hit Class: Highest base crit at the game with upgrades, with about 15% chance to crit.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Has dark powers granted by the demon, but otherwise isn't malicious
  • Demonic Possession: She's possessed by a demon, though she has enough willpower to prevent the demon from completely overwhelming her.
  • Glass Cannon: Reliant on ammo yet bar none the highest damage dealer in the game.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Used to be an Ashen Cult member until she escaped from it, though for her own reasons.
  • Our Elves Are Different: The Alvari are snow elves that forsaken magic, as such Svala become an outcast.
  • Powers via Possession: Her tattoo fuses the demon with her and can be used to unleash demonic power.
  • The Sneaky Gal: She can turn invisible.

An Imperate Paladin sent by the Imperiate nobles to deal with the curse at Amaranth's Tower


  • And Then John Was a Zombie: He died and become a shadow, though still has free will
  • Cowardly Lion: Considered a coward by Aloysius, yet he's the most powerful character in the game.
  • Critical Hit Class: Can guarantee a crit with certain upgrades.
  • Critical Status Buff: At low health, he regenerates energy twice as fast
  • Given Name Reveal: Corso
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Surrendered his body, (or what it's left of anyway) to the shadow to free everyone from the curse
  • Light 'em Up: His entire abilities
  • Living Shadow; He got killed and ended up as a shadow
  • Master of All: With certain upgrades, he can boost his movement speed, while through stacking shrines he can potentially become a crit-dealing, fast moving killer with stuns that can take many hits without dying. His only weakness is that his recovery from fountains is low, but it can be compenstated by using his spells which heals him for a decent amount.
  • The Paladin
  • Purposely Overpowered: He's designed to be the most overpowered class in the game, in exchange for a special campaign that's harder than the others.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: Unwilling to kill the child
  • Yin-Yang Bomb: He's basically dead and taken by shadow, but he still has his holy powers

Vezaal

A demon that has possessed Svala, although she considers him "tamed"
  • Affably Evil: Wants to take over Svala, yet is polite enough to let her live.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Ultimately, it wants to protect Svala, particulary from the shadow
  • Demonic Possession: He posseses Svala, though she "tamed him"
  • Hunter of His Own Kind: Is pretty much hated by the entire Ashen Cult due to it's independence from it
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He likes to taunt Svala, but at the end he wants to be with Svala and even Svala is worried when he briefly got silenced by the shadow
  • Love Craftian Superpower: Demonic possession allows Svala to hurl icy bombs, spread a large ash cloud, and spews out words of pain.
  • Nominal Hero: It only protects Svala because he wants to possess her, and if she dies, well that's it.

  • Acrofatic: For a giant, he's really agile, especially with his frequent jumping..
  • Battle Butler
    Amaranth 
  • Aristocrats Are Evil: Subverted, he wasn't evil until his wife got murdered and his daughter falls into coma, causing him to turn paranoid and declares any mages to be executed
  • BFS: Wields a sword larger than the player characters
  • Light Is Not Good: He has several holy powers derived from Diasunne, while being so paranoid he turns against his fellow countrymen. Subverted since his prayers are the only thing keeping the king of thorns in check
