    TRICK

Renninger

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/renningertalk_5949.gif
Renninger, also known as simply Ren, is the host of the party, being a living candy corn with a single eye. Ren acts all dapper and gentlemanly and fears nothing, mainly because he's simply emotionless.

By Act 4, we learn quite suddenly that Ren actually wants to make himself the only being in the Multiverse with the help of a Halloween demon known as Jackobel, who represents and has powers retaining to the fear of isolation, and wipe out all the emotions within. Ren believes that emotions are pure flaws and that logic is the only thing that makes a person flawless; because Ren is the only person without emotions, he believes he is the only perfect being. Thus, he wishes to make the Multiverse perfect by making it hold the only perfect being; himself.

  • Anthropomorphic Food: Ren is part of a species known as Candy People, and is an anthropomorphic candy corn. Interestingly, he is the only candy person seen with one eye.
  • Affably Evil: Though he acts polite, he wants to free the Multiverse from emotions by destroying everyone in it but himself.
  • No Mouth
  • Stepford Smiler: Ren doesn't even have emotions or feelings.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Seeing as he was the only candy sociopath, he'd be alone in a world without emotions if his plan went right. His ultimate fate is Sealed Evil in a Can, floating around the self-contained universe in the magic bag as a beyond-molecular component stardust, completely destroyed.

Jakob

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jakobtalk_4893.gif
The first guest to arrive. He's a green, quite timid gummy bear, but is dressed up like a ghost since it's Halloween. He's rather awkward due to his fear and being traumatized from Jackobel's massacre and because of his social anxiety.

Banter

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bantertalk_1622.gif
Banter is a Primal, a magical dinosaur-like being who are Multiversal peacekeepers, who arrives at the party in Act 2. He's a total party animal, though not very bright. He's also Daniel's adoptive big brother.

Murphey

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scarecrowanimated_467.gif
Murphey is a scarecrow, and one of the two non-candy characters. He is rather mysterious, and is eventually revealed to be working with an outside force to foil Renninger's plot, though he had not known Ren was behind it.

Catherine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/catherinetalk_436.gif
Catherine debuts at the start of Act 3, and is rather socially awkward, although not as much as Jakob.

Elias

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eliastalk_3532.gif
Elias is a sea-green piece of saltwater taffy. He shows up at the end of Act 3, where he accuses Renninger of being traitorous evil. He's right. He may or may not be a pirate.
  • Anthropomorphic Food: Elias, also a Candy Person, is saltwater taffy.
  • Ascended Fanon: While designed by YoshiEgg, the idea is from a user named PabloDePablo.
  • Talk Like a Pirate: All the time.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Elias had considered Renninger a friend for years since Ren stood up for him at a past party where he was being made fun of. Now, Elias believes that Renninger is betraying his friends for his own goals, and he is absolutely not happy about this.

Daniel Duck

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/danielducktalk_4885.gif
Daniel is Banter's little seven year old Adopted Brother. He's a Goth who is, according to Word of God, trying to find himself way too early. He debuts at the tail end of Act 4, trick-or-treating. By virtue of Throw It In!, he's a marshmallow duck, thus adding him to the cast of candy people.
  • Badass Adorable: A cute little Goth duck that has defeated the evil monstrosity. Without even running away or cowering in fear. Remember that the monster wants to kill everyone and destroy the Multiverse.
  • Cheerful Child: A little seven year old duck who needs to work on his R's and is trying to find his place in the world. Fits the bill quite well.
  • Elmuh Fudd Syndwome: Daniel can't quite pronounce his R's correctly.
  • God-Created Canon Foreigner: Originally appeared in Volatown, one of YE's other works. However, Word of God says TRICK!Daniel and Volatown!Daniel are separate entities.
  • Interspecies Adoption: Daniel is a marshmallow duck. Banter is a Primal, a dinosaur-like species with special powers.
  • Killer Rabbit: Out of all the introduced characters, it was Daniel who defeated the merged Renninger/Jackobel creature. Seeing that the bag he carried is a magical bottomless one (among other things), it's likely that the monster will never come back.
    • Not just a bottomless bag. The epilogue says the bag has a self-contained universe inside of it, a la the TARDIS.

Jackobel

The ninth of what was originally thought to be eight malevolent Halloween demons, each representing specific fears. Jackobel represents the fear of isolation, and has powers pertaining to it. Renninger strikes up a deal with Jackobel to help him in his endeavors by using his powers to make Renninger the only being in the Multiverse.

Chutlo

Chutlo is a peppermint candy person, who made a cameo appearance in Act 3 running away from Jackobel. Afterwards, Ascended Fanon went rampant, as PabloDePablo named him, and the author gave him a backstory as a secret masked vigilante. After appearing in the one-shot GOBBLE, he is currently starring in CHUTLO: MIDNIGHT STORM.

    Holly

Ash

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ashtalk_906.gif
Ash is the main character of Holly, although whether or not he is a protagonist or an antagonist has not been fully shown as Holly is currently in it's beginning stages. Unlike most candy creatures his species also has not been shown yet, although it most likely has to do with Christmas as Renninger's species, candy corn, was associated with Halloween. His main characteristic is a hate for holidays and all of those who celebrate it.
  • Ascended Fanon: His name came from a fan theory.
    • He was also designed by Sorastitch.
  • Jerkass
  • The Scrooge: Hates holidays and apperantly, also hates people who likes holidays.

    Chutlo: Midnight Storm

Percy

Percy is the first new character in Midnight Storm, and a 'rock candy' (although Word of God says he's more like a clump of Nerds) bartender.
