Major Characters

    Jim Hawkins
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/journal_mission_6_shot_1.png
You heard the Admiral, Mr. Onyx! Let's get out there and be the first to hit 'em!
Voiced by: Adam Paul

The protagonist of Battle at Procyon. Since the events of the film, Jim Hawkins is now 20 years old and has enlisted as an naval officer in the Terran Empire's Royal Navy and at the start of the game's story, is just about to graduate after one final exam.

  • Big Guy, Little Guy: The little guy, as he is a relatively normal sized man (if a bit shorter than average), compared to Mr. Onyx, who is an 8 foot tall Rock Monster.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Wears a blue naval uniform.
  • Can't Drop the Hero: He must always be the captain of your current flagship during the single-player campaign.
  • The Captain: Of the ships the player directly controls during the campaign: RLS Comet (Torpedo Boat), RLS Endurance (Warsloop), RLS Superior (Cutter), RLS Lightning (Fast Frigate), RLS St. Roch (Frigate) and RLS Victory (Man of War).
  • Chekhov's Skill: Hawkins' experience with solar surfing allows him to work out a way of manoeuvring the Frigate, RLS St. Roch, out of a dark matter explosion in Mission 9.
  • Glory Seeker: Initially, his goal is to get to the frontier to fight the Ironclads. However, Mr. Onyx convinces him to let go of that desire when he encounters an allied fleet who was scattered to the four winds as a result of a solar storm.
  • The Hero: He is the main protagonist of the game.
  • The Leader: He commands the player's fleet during the campaign.
  • Older and Wiser: He's far more mature than he was in the film.
  • Rank Up: Jim Hawkins is promoted several times throughout the course of the campaign. Jim Hawkins starts the campaign as an Ensign and is later promoted to Lieutenant, Captain, and finally Commander.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Red Oni, as he is more willing to take risks and acts more impulsively and somewhat less rationally than Mr. Onyx.
  • Space Cadet: During the tutorial and the start of the campaign, where he is training to become a naval officer in the Royal Navy.
  • We Cannot Go On Without You: If Jim Hawkins' ship is sunk, the mission automatically fails.

    Mr. Onyx
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/journal_mission_2_shot_2.png
I wouldn't know Sir, but they are certainly magnificent.
Voiced by: Joe Whyte

The deuteragonist of Battle at Procyon. Mr. Onyx is Mr. Arrow's nephew and Jim Hawkins' more experienced First Officer. Mr. Onyx acts as the second-in-command on Hawkins' ship, and accompanying fleet.

  • Badass Longcoat: Wears a longcoat.
  • The Big Guy: Mr. Onyx is the largest character in the game, by a fairly significant margin.
  • Big Guy, Little Guy: The big guy, as he is an 8 foot tall Rock Monster compared to Jim Hawkins, who is a relatively short man.
  • Can't Drop the Hero: He must always be the first mate of your current flagship during the single-player campaign.
  • The Lancer: To Jim Hawkins.
  • Number Two: Serves as the First Officer on Jim Hawkins' ship, making him the second-in-command.
  • Red Is Heroic: Wears a red longcoat.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Blue Oni, as he is more knowledgeable and rational than Jim Hawkins, as well as more cautious.
  • Rock Monster: Like his uncle before him, he's a living golem dude.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Mr. Onyx is almost identical in role and appearance to Mr. Arrow, except for being even taller than his uncle.

    Admiral Amelia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/journal_mission_7_shot_1.png
Nothing like finishing the day with a little scrap against some blackguards, eh?

Since the events of the film, Amelia has been promoted to Admiral, and now supervises the Royal Navy's navel officer's training.

  • Ace Custom: She commands a custom Heavy Escort variant as her personal flagship.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Appears at Parliament during Mission 12 to assist Hawkins during the final battle.
  • Cat Folk: She's still an anthropomorphic cat lady.
  • Fantastic Racism: Towards Procyons, as she does not trust them due to her experience fighting them during the Terran-Procyon War, which later turns out to be justified.
  • Kicked Upstairs: Despite being promoted to Admiral, Amelia entire job involves training newly commissioned officers, instead of commanding a fleet on the front-lines against the Ironclads on the frontier.
  • Properly Paranoid: She trusts the Procyons about as far as she can throw them. She's right on the money - they're the ones behind the Ironclad invasion.
  • Rank Up: Amelia was promoted to Admiral some time between the end of the film and the start of the game.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Towards Jim Hawkins.

    John Silver
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/journal_mission_1_shot_3_8.png
There'll be more loot than any of us can imagine if our plan succeeds!
Voiced by: Brian Murray

Jim Hawkins has not seen John Silver between the end of the film and the start of the game. However, he has reappeared, and appears to be behind the pirate raids on civilian ships.

  • 11th-Hour Ranger: He fights in the final battle alongside you.
  • Ace Custom: He commands a custom pirate Man-o-War as his personal flagship.
  • Bears Are Bad News: Silver resembles a hairless bear and is the main antagonist for most of the campaign.
  • Big Bad: Acts as the main antagonist for most of the campaign. It is later revealed that the John Silver behind the attacks is an impostor working for the Procyons and that the real John Silver is Good All Along.
  • Cyborg: Has several limbs replaced with mechanical limbs.
  • Face–Heel Turn: Became a bad guy since the events of the film. Subverted when it turns out that he has been replaced by a robot duplicate.
  • Friendly Pirate: The real John Silver is still the same Lovable Rogue and father figure that Jim befriended on the journey to Treasure Planet, and joins him for the final battle.
  • Good All Along: It is revealed in Mission 11 that it was a robot impostor working for the Procyons that was behind the attacks.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Just as Evar's Dreadnought is about to ram into Hawkins' ship at the end of the game, Silver rams his ship into it, destroying both ships in the process.
  • Inferred Survival: After his Heroic Sacrifice, Jim notes in his log that he believes Silver is still out there, gathering a new crew.
  • Kick the Dog: In Mission 11, he blasts a civilian ship near a black hole to buy time for him to escape from Jim. This convinces Jim that the Silver he knew is long dead. Of course, the Silver that did this is a fake.
Mr. Onyx: What kind of creature would risk the lives of so many people, just to get away?
Jim Hawkins: No one I ever knew.
  • Last-Name Basis: Just like in the film, John Silver is always referred to by only his surname.
  • The Pardon: After the final battle, he is given a posthumous pardon and honored as the hero who saved the Queen.
  • Pirate: He's backslided into type 1 behavior. Subverted when it turns out the Silver who has been raiding civilian ships is an imposter. The real Silver is still a type 2 and joins Jim for the final battle.
  • Privateer: Robot Silver is raiding Terran civilian ships on behalf of the Procyons. After the real Silver destroys him, he becomes a privateer for the Terrans.
  • Ramming Always Works: He destroys Evar's flagship by ramming it.
  • Repetitive Audio Glitch: When the robot Silver is low on health, he repeatedly says the word “Destroy”, eventually trailing off on the last instance of it.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: As soon as Jim successfully hits the imposter at the end of Mission 11, the real Silver launches a destructive broadside on said imposter, which is very likely to defeat him instantly.
  • Robotic Reveal: In Mission 11, after the player works out and fires at the imposter Silver, it is revealed that the impostor Silver was a robot.
  • Spot the Imposter: The climax of Mission 11 has a confrontation between Jim and two Silvers, and Jim must work out who is the real one. It's not a difficult problem, however, especially since the robot imposter noticeably acts out of character compared to the real deal and conspicuously only acts like he recognizes Jim when the real Silver does (despite clearly not recognizing Jim previously).
  • Unusable Enemy Equipment: Silver's ship, Argentum, is a unique ship that is not available to the player without enabling it with modifications.
  • Ursine Aliens: John Silver resembles a hairless bear.
  • Walking Spoiler: Due to the fact that a robot is impersonating him for almost the entire game.
  • Zero-Effort Boss: Robot Silver. After he's exposed, he ends up on the wrong end of the real Argentum's broadside and will typically be wiped out in a single volley.

    Admiral Evar
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/journal_mission_5_shot_2.png
Attention brave ships of the Royal Navy. Please accept the thanks of all the Procyon people.
Voiced by: Patrick Pinney

Evar is a Procyon Admiral and diplomat, who is acting as the Procyon Expanse's Ambassador for negotiating the peace agreement that will end the Terran-Procyon War.

  • Aliens of London: Speaks with a Russo-German accent.
  • Ambadassador: Before becoming the Procyon Ambassador, Evar was an Admiral who served in the Procyon Navy during the Terran-Procyon War.
  • Big Bad: Evar turns out to be the real Big Bad and the one behind both the pirate and Ironclad attacks, which serve as a means to lure the bulk of the Royal Navy to the frontier, allowing the Procyons to easily reach the Royal Parliament and assassinate the Terran Queen.
  • Cutscene Boss: As soon as his flagship arrives at the final battle, the game begins transitioning into the ending cutscene and he is defeated and killed after gameplay ends.
  • Death by Irony: When Admiral Evar realises he has been defeated at the Battle at Parliament, he attempts to kill Jim Hawkins by ramming Hawkins' ship with his Dreadnought. However, before he can pull it off, Silver rams his ship into Evar's, destroying both ships in the process.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Evar is never referred to by his name during the campaign, instead he is always called the Procyon Ambassador or Mr. Ambassador. His name is only revealed in the expandable crew log and the game files.
  • Evil All Along: He turns out to be the mastermind of the Ironclad invasion.
  • Giant Mook: The Procyon Marines Evar uses as his guards are massive. They are tall even by human standards (even more so by Procyon standards, as they are on average shorter than humans) and they all appear to be at least a foot taller than Evar is.
  • Large Ham: If selected as a crew member in the skirmish mode, his portrait shows him always shouting.
  • The Man Behind the Man: Admiral Evar is revealed in Mission 10 to be behind the Ironclad attacks, which are a False Flag Operation supposed to draw most of the Royal Navy to the frontier, so that the Procyons can easily attack the Royal Parliament and assassinate the Terran Queen. Mission 11 reveals he is behind the pirate attacks too, as he is paying them to work as privateers, attacking the Imperial civilian and military ships, whilst planting a robot to impersonate John Silver to draw attention away from himself.
  • Mister Big: Evar is very short, even for a Procyon (who are on average, shorter than humans) as even Jim Hawkins looks tall compared to him. Noticeably, the Procyon Marines guarding him appear to be about a foot taller than he is.
  • Never Bareheaded: Evar always wears his Procyon officer hat.
  • Taking You with Me: When Evar realises he has lost the Battle of Parliament, he goes insane and launches a suicidal last-ditch attack in an attempt to kill Jim Hawkins by ramming his ship. However, Silver rams him first.
Jim Hawkins: Attention Procyon vessels, you cannot win! Surrender now and you will be treated fairly!
Evar: Never, Jim Hawkins! All our plans were brought to nothing by you and that pirate cyborg! Neither of you will survive to enjoy your victory!
  • Villainous Breakdown: Evar goes berserk when his fleet is destroyed.
  • Walking Spoiler: He's the hidden Big Bad and is responsible for the Ironclad attacks.
  • You All Look Familiar: Admiral Evar is often mistaken for Admiral Boas, who is a crew member available to the Procyons in open skirmishes, who uses the same portrait as Evar.

Minor Characters

    Turnbuckle
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/journal_mission_1_shot_2_0.png
Beware!
Voiced by: N/A

A former member of John Silver's crew, now a crewman on the pirate vessel Warrior that interrupts Jim's final exam. He delivers a warning from Silver: "Beware!"

  • Continuity Snarl: In the film, he's dead after falling into the boiling metal chasm when Treasure Planet is falling apart, and isn't seen with the rest of the captured pirate crew in the end. Then again, this game did come out before the movie, so it's possibly based on an earlier draft.

    Greech
Voiced by: Doug Boyd

Leader of a pirate base.

  • Just a Kid: Mocks Jim for being "a little wet behind the ears" after his defeat. Jim quite rightfully retorts that he's old enough to have taken Greech prisoner.
  • Warm-Up Boss: His base is your first test of fighting against a land base with your weapons. Given that you only have a light weapon on your torpedo boat, it's probably a good thing he's relatively easy.

    Owen Ried
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/owen_ried_large.png
A pirate vessel full of cowards came out of nowhere and hit us hard.
Voiced by: Dee Bradley Baker

Captain of the SS Coventry, a civilian Schooner attacked by pirates.

  • Distressed Dude: You find him just after he's been disabled by pirates, and must tow him back to a nearby settlement for repairs.

    Captain Grange
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/journal_mission_2_shot_1.png
Voiced by: N/A

Captain of the pirate vessel Ravage. A marauder who uses advanced navigational systems to attack civilian ships.

  • Lost Technology: The map scanner he uses to track and attack civilian ships, while being able to detect any Navy vessels heading his way is this. Jim and Dr. Doppler note its similarity to the map that was used in the film, and theorize it might have been made by the same civilization that made that map.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Grange only shows up for one mission as the main antagonist, and doesn't even get any voiced lines, but it can be said that if Captain Grange hadn't been caught, and his map device acquired by Jim, he would have substantially less reason to stay behind and save the ships blown away by the solar storm, and thus might have ended up going to the frontier to fight the Ironclads. In turn, Jim would not have eventually uncovered the full conspiracy behind the Ironclads, and would not have been able to prevent the eventual fall of the Terran Empire by the treachery of the Procyons.

    Dr. Delbert Doppler
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/journal_mission_2_shot_3.png
Voiced by: N/A

Jim's former mentor.

  • Continuity Snarl: Dr. Doppler is called Jim's former mentor, but in the film, he's only an old family friend who is the financier of the voyage to Treasure Planet, and mostly helps Amelia with navigation, with mentorship being handled by John Silver. Then again, this game did come out before the movie, so it's possibly based on an earlier draft.
  • Demoted to Extra: He was a major character in the film, but here he only appears in one brief cutscene and isn't even voiced.

    Morph
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/journal_mission_1_shot_5.png
Voiced by: Unknown

A small alien creature. Was once John Silver's pet, before he gave him to Jim.

    Vice Admiral J. Nelson
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/admiral_j_nelson_large.png
I will not leave my crews lost and in danger.
Voiced by: Jonny Rees

A Royal Navy Vice Admiral who leads a fleet transferred to the frontier against the Ironclads. While the fleet's traveling there through the McCullogh Etherium Current, a solar storm scatters the squadron across a remote quadrant. When Jim Hawkins catches up with the gathered survivors in Mission 4, he volunteers to find the missing ships while Nelson continues to the frontier while he still can.

  • A Father to His Men: Nelson refuses to continue to the frontier without rescuing his crews first, even though he can reach the frontier in time only when the Etherium surge is still ongoing. It takes Jim volunteering to rescue the crews to convince Nelson to continue to the frontier.
  • Field Promotion: When Jim vows to recover Nelson's missing crews, the Vice Admiral promotes the Lieutenant to Captain, calling it field promotion.

    Penfold Tangent
Voiced by: Michael Gough

Captain of the RLS Yorkshire, a Warsloop run aground by a solar storm.

    Rachel Crickett
Voiced by: Rosalyn Landor

Captain of the Cutter RLS Swiftsure. A solar storm trapped her and her crew in a nebula.

  • Guest-Star Party Member: She temporarily joins your fleet when you rescue her from the Crow Nebula. She becomes available for hire as a crew member in Mission 7, though.

    Turnik
Voiced by: Corey Burton

A crew member of the RLS Indomitable, a Man-o-War blown in the vicinity of a black hole by a solar storm.

    Spinel
Voiced by: Corey Burton

Captain of the RLS Redoubt, a Frigate blown into an asteroid field by a solar storm along with the Cutter RLS Manchester.

    Hugh Mansfield
Voiced by: Dee Bradley Baker

Administrator of Waystation Grant. He approves Jim's field promotion to Captain.

  • Punny Name: He's called Hugh Mansfield. His portrait is appropriately on the portly side.

    Crib Zibbinz
Voiced by: Rodger Bumpass

Mayor of Alamein. He requests Jim's aid in dealing with a blockade of his fishing vessels, but there's more to the situation than meets the eye...

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: At first, he appears to be the victim of an unjust naval blockade by the neighboring town of Alzrand, stealing their fishing grounds in the process. It's then revealed that Alzrandian fishermen were having issues with pirates on their fishing ground, and when they tried to ask Alamein for help, they were coldly rebuffed. The Alamein Mayor can only insist that it was their fishing grounds, much to Jim Hawkins' ire.

    Wunston
Voiced by: Gregg Berger

Commander of the Alzrandian blockade.

    Krell
Voiced by: Arthur Burghardt

Mayor of Alzrand. He's been intruding on Alameinian fishing territory, but there's more to the situation than meets the eye...

  • Anti-Villain: He's only stealing from the Alameinians because pirates have been marauding traditional Alzrandian fishing grounds and Alamein refused to help.

    Admiral Hoyt
Voiced by: Arthur Burghardt

  • Field Promotion: When Jim reveals to him the true nature of the Ironclads as Procyon vessels, and the implied plot against the Queen at Parliament, he promotes Jim to the rank of Commander in order to reduce any bureaucratic conflict from their own forces, as well as giving him command of the final ship in the campaign, the Man-O-War RLS Victory.

    Queen Illysa II

Factions

    Terran Empire
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/terran_empire_flag.jpg
The flag of the Royal Navy.

The Terran Empire is one the main political bodies in Treasure Planet's universe competing with the Procyon Expanse for power. The game's events take place within the Terran Empire's borders. The Terran Empire is a Constitutional Monarchy, that has a Parliament that acts as the real seat of power. The Monarch during the game's events is Queen Illysa. The Terran Empire and the Procyon Expanse had been at war several times before the events of the game begins, as part of a 75 year conflict. The Terran Empire's Navy is known as the Royal Navy, which protects the Empire's citizens from attacks form pirates, as well as fighting their Procyon enemies during the Terran-Procyon Wars. During the campaign, you play as this faction. Imperial ships are usually heavily armed, with their larger ships mainly using heavier guns, with most of them on the broadside. Most Imperial ships are equipped with underside-mounted Light Lancers for defending against Torpedoes and Mines, all larger Imperial ships are equipped with underside-mounted Light Lancers.

  • Bomb Disposal: Imperial ships tend to be the best equipped when it comes to underside-mounted Lancers, making them very effective at destroying incoming torpedoes and mines.
  • Break Out the Museum Piece: The Heavy Scout class of ships are obsolete Discovery-class Frigates that have been refitted with more modern weaponry.
  • Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: Imperial ships have brown hulls, yellow sails and blue accents.
  • The Empire: The Terran Empire resembles the British Empire, even using the same type of government. Unusually for an empire, it is portrayed as completely heroic.
  • Fantastic Ship Prefix: Royal Navy ships use 'RLS' as their prefix, standing for 'Royal Light Ship' (as well as Robert Louis Stevenson).

    Pirates
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pirate_flag_8.gif
The most commonly used Pirate flag.

The Pirates are technically not a single unified faction. Rather it is an umbrella term for any Pirate or Pirate group. Some act as individuals, others as organised clans, and others are state-sponsored privateers. Pirate ships are usually repurposed civilian, Imperial or Procyon ships that have had their weapons, armour and engines modified to suit the Pirate's needs. As piracy is about profit, Pirates are more focused on boarding than other factions, and are less concerned with sheer firepower. As such, Pirate ships often have larger crew sizes than other faction's ships, and usually sacrifice heavier weapons for a larger number of lighter weapons.

  • Boarding Party: Pirate ships are the best at boarding, due to their larger crew sizes.
  • Close-Range Combatant: As the Pirates do not have access to several long ranged weapons (Plasma Cannons, Torpedoes and Nova Mortars), Pirates in general often tend to fight at closer ranges. This also encourages boarding, which the Pirates specialise in.
  • Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: Pirate ships have dark brown hulls, red sails and red and yellow accents.
  • Crooks Are Better Armed: Zigzagged. While the Royal Navy usually has access to better weapons such as Plasma Cannons, Torpedoes, Mines and Nova Mortars, the Pirates have access to Medium and Heavy Lancers, which the Royal Navy do not have access to.
  • More Dakka: Pirate ships often sacrifice heavier guns for larger numbers of lighter weapons.
  • Space Pirates: They are scoundrels who live only to loot and plunder.

    Procyon Expanse
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/procyon_expanse_rectangular_flag.png
The rectangular version of the Procyon Expanse flag.note

The Procyon Expanse is the other major political power in Treasure Planet's universe, competing with the Terran Empire for dominance. The Procyons are a species of raccoon-like Humanoid Aliens, originating from the frozen planet Laar, which is stated to be near the star Procyon, of which the Procyons are named after. The Procyon Expanse is an aristocratic republic, which is run by the Brood Council who are appointed by the Procyon Council. The Procyon Expanse has been at war with the Terran Empire several times before the game begins, as part of a 75 year old conflict, which started when the Procyon leader, Rygan ambushed an Imperial fleet at the Garn Archipelago. Procyon ships use a trimaran (three hulled) design, with the majority of their powerful guns as bow chasers. Procyons also make heavy use of Torpedoes, using up to 4 Torpedo Tubes for their largest ships. Procyon ships however, do not usually have as powerful broadsides as the Imperial ships. Because of the layout of their weapons, Procyon ships by necessity have the best manoeuvrability out of all of the factions' ships. Procyons also have access to the most advanced weapons available, as they can use all weapons except for the somewhat primitive Carronades.

  • Aliens of London: Procyons speak with a Russo-German accent.
  • Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: Procyon ships have brown and white hulls, white sails and green accents.
  • Fantastic Ship Prefix: Procyon ships use 'PSR' as their prefix, which stands for 'Procyon Star Runner'.
  • Fixed Forward-Facing Weapon: Procyon ships usually have their most powerful weapons as bow chasers, usually having weaker broadsides than Imperial and Pirate counterparts. Procyon ships are more manoeuvrable than other ships to allow for them to line up their bow chasers. Procyons also make heavy use of Torpedoes, which are always used in this configuration.
  • Heavy Worlder: Laar has higher gravity than Earth, and as a result the Procyons are usually shorter than humans, but have a 20% higher muscle-to-bone ratio and are usually bulkier and stronger.
  • Humanoid Aliens: The Procyons are humanoids with raccoon-like features.
  • Husky Russkie: The Procyons come from the frozen planet Laar, speak with a Russian accent and are stronger than humans, despite being shorter on average.
  • Long-Range Fighter: Larger Procyon ships often come with Torpedoes, making them well suited to longer range, especially when combined with the other long range weapons the Procyons also have in their arsenal.
  • Mother Russia Makes You Strong: Due to Laar's strong gravity, Procyons are stronger than humans.
  • Pintsized Powerhouse: The Procyons are on average, shorter than most humans, but are stronger than humans due to having a 20% higher muscle to bone ratio.

    Ironclads
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ironclad_flag.png
The flag of the Ironclads.note

Ironclads are a mysterious, highly advanced type of ship that started appearing on the frontier around the same time the peace negotiations for the Terran-Procyon War started. Unlike other ships, Ironclads do not rely on solar sails for power. Instead they use dark matter, allowing them to travel through nebulae without issues and preventing their enemies from targeting the sails to cripple them, as they have no sails to be crippled. Ironclads have entirely steel hulls, which gives them excellent durability, reducing the damage from most weapons significantly and causing lighter weapons to glance off harmlessly. Ironclads also utilise turret mounted weapon batteries, giving their weapons a larger field of fire than other ships. In open skrimishes, Ironclads are the most expensive types of ships to balance out their power.

  • Better to Die than Be Killed: In the story, Ironclads have orders to self-destruct with all hands if a battle turns against them in order to prevent their technology from falling into enemy hands. This turns out to be much more neccessary than first implied, as when Jim manages to disable one and capture it, he discovers that the crew of all Ironclads are Procyons, revealing their treacherous plot against the Terran Empire.
  • Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: Ironclads, due to their steel hulls and lack of sails, are entirely grey.
  • The Dreaded: The Ironclads in general, but especially the appropriately named 'Dreadnought', which is the most powerful ship in the game. The manual says almost nothing is known about the Dreadnought as no ships have ever survived a close encounter with one, and to top it off, they tend to have names like Terror, Devastation and Obliteration.
  • Drone of Dread: The Ironclads' theme uses low-pitched, long sustained sounds.
  • Interface Spoiler: Playing as the Ironclads in the skirmish mode reveals that the Ironclads are Procyon ships.
  • Made of Iron: Literally.
  • Ramming Always Works:
    • Ramming can be a very effective tactic for larger Ironclads, such as the Dreadnought, which is the heaviest ship in the game.
    • Ironically, ramming is the most effective tactic against submerged Ironclad Submersibles, as although they cannot be targeted while submerged, they can still be collided with, and the small size and slow speed of the Submersible makes it vulnerable to ramming.
