Colonel Galina Rogozina

Played by: Olga Koposova
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_05_07_220506902.png
Head of Federal Expert Service
  • The Ace: Galina Nikolaevna is an excellent cop and has a doctorate in Law and Medicine.
  • Agent Scully: It's impossible to get away from Rogozina with paranormal explanation. This quote explains her attiltude best:
Rogozina: I'll believe in Bigfoot only if you get him to FES in handcuffs!
  • Always Gets Her Man: There is basically no case the FES (under her leadership) can't solve.
  • Badass in Distress: She gets kidnapped for surgery (in "Hippocratic Oath"), has to wear an Explosive Leash (in "Blasted City"), and suffers a from booby-trap explosion which wasn't destined for her in "Deadly Place".
  • Benevolent Boss: She is a strict boss, but very devoted to her underlings.
  • Daddy's Girl: She is shown to be very close with her father, a retired judge.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Antonova (they have known each other since university).
  • Hidden Depths: She sings very well and plays the violin.
  • Iron Lady: She has all traits of one: iron will, dedication to her work.
  • Office Romance: It's heavily hinted that she's in a relationship with Kruglov.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Many episodes end with Rogozina giving one to criminals.
  • Team Mom: She may be strict, but she is very protective towards the rest of the FES. It even gets lampshaded by the FES squad members (for example, Lisitsyn).

Major Nikolay Kruglov

Played by: Vladimir Tashlykov
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_05_07_220601502.png
Deputy head of the FES and right hand of Rogozina.
  • Cool Old Guy: A police officer who was over 50 at the beginning of the series (and it was in 2007) and still works as a field detective and keeps his will and attitude.
  • Dirty Harriet: Gender-Inverted. It's a Running Gag that Kruglov works as mystery shopper in brothels.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: Kruglov leaves the FES and goes to the countryside in "End of the World". All he does there is drinking. The reason is the death of his friend (Kruglov wrote off his suspicions as paranoia). A serious effort (a fictional murder case) was undertaken by the FES to bring Kruglov back to normal life.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Mayskiy.
  • Jack Bauer Interrogation Technique: Early episodes show him to be prone to press on the suspects. For example, in first four-parter "Bite of the Lancehead", he put barrel of the gun in suspect's mouth.
  • Number Two: If Rogozina isn't in charge of the case for some reason, Kruglov will replace her for a while.
  • Office Romance: It's heavily teased that he and Rogozina are in relationship.
  • Silver Fox: He is silver-headed, looks good for his years and has a beautiful voice.
  • Taking the Bullet: In the first episode, four-parter "The Pit Viper's Bite", he pushes Rogozina away when they are attacked by the Organist and is hit with the poison dart intended for her.
  • Team Dad: To Rogozina's Team Mom.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: In early episodes (like "Bite of the Lancehead starting four-parter), he is shown as abrasive, quick-to-anger Knight in Sour Armour who was prone to Jack Bauer Interrogation Technique. He was very hostile towards Rogozina and Tikhonov. Now, he is a mild-mannered (for a policeman) Cool Old Guy, supportive of all squad members.

     FES detectives

Major Sergey Mayskiy

Played by: Pavel Shuvaev
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_06_18_155933526.png

  • Badass Biker: His love for bikes and hard rock is an important part of his character.
  • Big Guy: Standing at roughly 2 meters and being raspy-voiced, Mayskiy plays this archetype well.
  • The Casanova: Mayskiy is frequently shown flirting with women (or being in relationship with them).
  • Disappeared Dad: He had never seen his father until "The Chemists", where it turns out that he is a recognized and dangerous mobster.
  • Epic Fail: Mayskiy once tries to claim he is absent from work due to getting stuck in a traffic jam... while he's speaking on a residential telephone.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Kruglov.
  • Noodle Incident: According to Antonova (in "Absinth Admirer"), Mayskiy once lost control on New Year's Party. Mayskiy doesn't want to recall it.
  • The Unintelligible: Sometimes his words are really hard to understand.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Mayskiy (due to his military background) hates fireworks and explosions. It can be seen in "Water", where Kruglov, Antonova and Tikhonov decided to make him a surprise with a firework. When Mayskiy heard the first shots, he had suddenly taken "Fire in the Hole" position.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_05_07_215751775.png

  • Action Girl: Yuliya is trained very well. Running and climbing are among her main skills.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She thinks that Lisitsyn may need some control.

  • Like an Old Married Couple: She can never stop bickering with Lisitsyn.
  • Mind Rape: She goes through one in "Falcon Hunt", where she is turned into fighter in gladiator-like fights.
  • Rank Up: Yuliya spent her first stint as captain, but, many years later, she returned in rank of major. She was promoted after some secret assignment to Middle East (there's still no further explanation).

Though, maybe, he finally got something nice in form of relationship with Vlasova.
  • Friend to All Children: He is very nice to kids, mainly because of his Dark and Troubled Past.
  • Hidden Depths: One of the episodes shows that Danilov knows sign language (he studied it while dating a deaf woman).
  • Iron Woobie: Despite all his troubles, he still has a good sense of humour and peaceful mind.
  • Parental Abandonment: His parents died in a car crash whe he was 11.

Captain Margarita Vlasova

Played by: Nina Gogaeva
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_05_07_215458781.png

  • Action Mom: She has a teenage son. His name is Gleb.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Rita is a most notable one in FES. Her replies are really loved in the fandom.
  • Fair Cop: She has very interesting combination of hazel hair, brown eyes and Latin-Mediterranean looking face. Just look ath the photo.

  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Never make Vlasova angry. She will backfire, and you will not like it.
  • Lethal Chef: Rita burns duck to coals in New Year's Day episode "Lion in A Mousetrap".
  • My Greatest Failure: Abduction of her daughter, Liza, continues to haunt Rita even 20 years after.
  • Passive-Aggressive Kombat: She has black belt in such type of communication. Tikhonov and Amelina know it best.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Rita is very afraid of snakes. When she sees Danilov with a natrix in his hands in "Best Intentions", she points a gun at him.

Captain Pavel Granin

Played by: Stanislav Erklievskiy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_06_19_004234286.png

  • Fair Cop: Maybe the closest one of male FES detectives to qualify
  • Missing Mom: His mom was shot when he was 12. The killer wasn't found.

Major Roman Aristov

Played by: Vladislav Malenko
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_06_19_005603199.png

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_05_07_220235855.png

Captain Roman Berezin

Played by: Alexey Moiseev
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_05_07_221020930.png

  • Plucky Comic Relief: He is always ready to crack jokes and entertain his colleagues.

Senior Lieutenant Leonid Subbotin

Played by: Anton Vozmischev
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_05_07_221634295.png

  • Attractive Bent-Gender: Subbotin is disguised as woman (due to need for physical force during arrest) in "Secret Mission" and looks pretty good.
  • Pretty Boy: He looks surprisingly cute for the policeman (even the young one). Amelina even once compared him to teddy bear.
  • Would Hit a Girl: He was forced to do it in "Don't Believe Your Eyes". It led to Kruglov's backfire.

     FES forensic experts

Ivan Tikhonov

Played by: Evgeny Kulakov
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_05_07_214219386.png

  • Agent Mulder: Surprisingly, he has a passion for paranormal activities and unsolved mysteries. "End of the World", on the other hand, shows him exploiting this trope to have sex with Amelina. We can only guess if he scored (Amelina was absent from the episode, and his wish was mentioned only once in the start of the episode).
  • Big Eater: According to Antonova, he can eat a plywood without jam.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: He has many suspicions about Amelina being in relationship. Usually it's Played for Laughs, but some episodes (like "Female Instincts" and "Right to Trust") play it absolutely serious.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: His sister, Larisa, died of drug overdose. He became The Cracker, donating the money to the drug rehabs, and went to jail for wire fraud.
  • From Bad to Worse: In "Right to Trust", when he understood that Amelina wasn't cheating on him with Danilov. She was kidnapped.
  • Manchild: Ivan is a geek with very interesting sense of humour.
  • Motor Mouth: Ivan can speak very fast when he is stressed (or excited).
  • My Greatest Failure: His sister, Lara, died of drug overdose. It made him to become The Cracker and donate all stolen money to drug rehabs.
  • Oh, Crap!: Vanya is genuinely scared after hearing news about Amelina returning from her Interpol assignment (because he wrote a report to Rogozina, asking to return her to Moscow) in "Property". It turns out that Oksana decided to return earlier without even knowing about the report.
  • The Prankster: Who else can greet new colleague by hanging at his workplace? (He scared Kholodov tht way in "Game Over").
  • Recruiting the Criminal: Ivan was doing time for wire fraud, when Rogozina got him out of jail for "The Organist" case (in starting four-parter "Bite of the Lancehead").
  • Sibling Rivalry: His relationship with Kholodov looks just like that.
  • Sweet Tooth: Chocolate and cakes are the main fuel type for him.
  • Techno Wizard: He is one of the best hackers in Russia, so he is often referred this way.
  • The Workaholic: It's really hard to make Ivan leave his workplace. And his colleagues are not always successful in it (since he frequently stays at FES office for night).

Senior Lieutenant Oksana Amelina

Played by: Anastasia Gulimova
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_05_07_214918854.png

  • Berserk Button: Sexual violence is her hot button. Not surprising, since she is the rape victim. It can be seen in "Private Justice", where she is visibly triggered by child pornography evidences.
  • Bound and Gagged: In "Right to Trust".
  • Dirty Harriet: If FES needs a woman to work undercover as a sex worker (or simply use her sex appeal), Oksana is the primary choice.
  • Disappeared Dad: Her policeman father was killed a few days after her prom (as stated in her Welcome Episode, "Tantra").
  • Dumb Blonde: She is a complete aversion.
  • Fair Cop: She is a beautiful blue-eyed blonde, who wears bright clothes.
  • Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: Fashionista IT expert with model look who likes playing billiards... Well, you get it.
  • Hidden Depths: Oksana is a pro-tier billiards player.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Her relationship with Sokolova evolved from being outright hostile to said trope.

Captain Andrey Kholodov

Played by: Ruslan Sasin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_05_07_214414732.png

  • Big Fun: He is notably overweight. He also has a very notable sense of humour.
  • Genre Savvy: After being taken hostage during shop robbery in "Boniface's Holyday", he gives advices to shop personnel, other hostages and robbers.
  • Hidden Depths: Andrey is fluent in Spanish. After being asked to call to Peru (for suspect's interrogation) and talking about Spanish language, Kholodov says to Tikhonov: "Eres un tonto, pero yo te amo". (You're a bonehead, but I love you).
  • Nerd Glasses: Kholodov is the only squad member constantly wearing glasses.
  • The Prankster: At first, he was a Butt-Monkey for Tikhonov's pranks. Later, he developed that skill and can be considered equal to Ivan.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: His father-in law is a police general. However, he never goes further than jokes about this trope.
  • Sibling Rivalry: His dynamics with Ivan looks just like that.
  • Signature Laugh: His sarcastically-self-confident laughter is his trademark.
  • Standard Cop Backstory: He is one of few characters to avert this trope. He lives a healthy family life, his parents are still alive and healthy, and he likes his life overall.

Sergey Belozerov

Played by: Oleg Osipov
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_05_07_221310960.png

  • Drowning My Sorrows: Darker and Edgier episode "Anonymous Alcoholics" starts with him accidentally killing a person during criminal's arrest. It makes him slip into drinking.
  • Papa Wolf: "Last case of FES" is built around him being forced to kill Rogozina after his son's kidnapping Of course he told Rogozina first.
  • Shipper on Deck: He will never miss a chance to joke about other FES squad members' sympathies. Ask Lisitsyn and Tikhonov.

     FES medical examiners

Valentina Antonova

Played by: Anna Dankova
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_05_07_222309948.png

  • Bound and Gagged: Antonova holds a record for being in this position. She was restrained five times (including that one in "Fire with Fire", when she tied herself to explain Rogozina how suspect got into car trunk).
  • The Coroner: She is a medical examiner with relevant sense of humour.
  • Damsel in Distress: She was kidnapped, drowned, shot to the chest... She suffered a lot during the time of FES existence.
  • Dumb Blonde: She is a complete aversion.
  • Friend to All Children: Any cases of child abuse and (oh, no) death of children are pain in her heart. Given that she is mother of four, it's not surprising.
  • Friend to All Living Things: Valentina definetely likes animals. Most of them find a temporary place in morgue with her.
  • Happily Married: Zig-zagged. "Bite of the Lancehead" show her husband, Stepan to be strongly disappointed by Valentina's decision to work in FES (she was "a desparate housewife' sitting with kids), but he (or they, since actor playing Stepan was replaced and appears in four episodes overall) is shown to be loving and caring husband.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Rogozina.
  • Mama Bear: She would do ANYTHING for her children's health and safety. "Safety Margin" is the best illustration.
  • Meaningful Name: Zig-zagged. Valentina means "healthy" in Latin, which is suitable for team medic... but not so suitable for medical examiners.

Boris Selivanov

Played by: Oleg Valkman
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2022_05_07_221543313.png

  • Dad the Veteran: He served in both Afghanistan (where he was a POW) and Chechnya.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He is very calm but still can outsnark Vlasova.
  • A Day in the Limelight: "Stolen Face", which tells the story about Selivanov joining FES.
  • Obnoxious In-Laws: His mother-in-law once orchestrated a plan based on his son's disappearance (he was at his friend's house). Why? She wanted to fix his relationship with her daughter amidst the bitter divorce.
  • Papa Wolf: "Banks and Jars" shows him really good and brave father who decidies to play double game with his son's kidnappers and involve FES to arrest them.
  • Ship Tease: There was some between him and Rogozina. Both actors hadn't bought it.

Artyom Tukaev

Played By: Kirill Byrkin
