  • Badass Crew: Led by three members of the Black Dragons' first generation and one of the Three Deities, Brahman is made up of skilled fighters who initially ran an underground ring.
  • Breaking the Fellowship: Senju bows to Mikey and disbands Brahman so that he would spare Takemichi at the end of the Three Deities battle.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Their uniforms are black, but Brahman values the initial Black Dragons' code of honor and was founded with the noble goal of taking down Mikey and his Kanto Manji Gang, which was becoming a dangerous criminal organization.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: The higher-ups each fit one of the temperaments.
    • Senju is the sanguine: expressive, idealistic, confident and outgoing.
    • Takeomi is the melancholic: guile, task-oriented, practical and realistic.
    • Wakasa is the phlegmatic: reserved, aloof, calm and reasonable.
    • Benkei is the choleric: quick-tempered, strong-willed, loud and blunt.
  • Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: The gang is named after the Hindu creator god Brahma.
  • Yakuza: According to Inui, Brahman operates like a Yakuza syndicate and is involved in shady affairs, despite their allegedly good intentions.

President

    Senju Kawaragi

Senju Kawaragi

Senju is the leader of Brahman and one of the top three deities in the final arc. She later becomes the captain of the 5th division of the 2nd generation of the Tokyo Manji Gang.

  • The Ace: She was mentioned by Wakasa to be the top student at his gym even before founding Brahman. As a gang leader, she's known all throughout the Kanto area for rivaling Mikey and South.
  • Action Girl: The leader of a large delinquent gang as well as an excellent fighter.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: To prevent Mikey from killing Takemichi, Senju prostrates herself in front of him, begging for his life to be spared, and disbands Brahman to save him.
  • Airplane Arms: Senju runs with both arms at her side.
  • Badass Adorable: She has her moments of acting like a typical teenage girl, having fun shopping or going to the attraction park.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Senju develops a crush on Takemichi after he befriends her, which solidifies after he protects her from a fatal gunshot.
  • Boyish Short Hair: Senju has messy short hair, fitting her tomboy personality.
  • Brother–Sister Team: She leads Brahman with her brother Takeomi as her right-hand man.
  • Bruiser with a Soft Center: She's a fearsome fighter with a bit of a temper, but also very kind, compassionate and warm towards the people she cares about.
  • Cain and Abel: The Abel to Sanzu's Cain. Senju seems to genuinely miss her brother and to want to get him back on her side. They end up facing each other during the final battle.
  • Captain Smooth and Sergeant Rough: She plays the Rough to Takeomi's Smooth, being more direct and willing to use violence or threats to get her way.
  • Childhood Friends: Chapter 240 reveals that Senju used to be childhood friends with Mikey and Baji together with Sanzu.
  • Dance Battler: Senju has a very graceful fighting style which relies on speed and incorporates a lot of jumps and kicks. She presumably learned it from Wakasa, as she trained at his gym.
  • Declaration of Protection: Writes on a tanzaku that her wish is to protect Takemichi. Takemichi returns the sentiment after she asks if they can be friends. She dies protecting Takemichi in a possible future.
  • Deliberate Underperformance: Her fight against South reveals that she had been repressing her true strength out of fear of Takeomi using it to corrupt Brahman.
  • Died in Your Arms Tonight: After Senju throws her popsicle stick at Takemichi, Takemichi suddenly gets a glimpse of the future where she died in his arms.
  • Flowers of Femininity: Senju's uniform sleeves, unlike the other Brahman members, have a cherry blossom design, alluding to her being a woman in an all-male gang.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Zig-Zagged. Takeomi is more impulsive under stress and lacks a strong moral compass, which caused Senju to subconsciously hold back on her potential so that her brother wouldn't use her strength to lead Brahman down a path of corruption. However, he's also more realistic than his very idealistic younger sister, and counsels her whenever she lets her emotions get the best of her.
  • Genki Girl: Shows a very energetic side when she's shopping around with Takemichi, excitedly looking around clothing stores with Takemichi barely able to keep up while holding all her bags.
  • Glass Cannon: Senju displays great speed and strength, but isn't very durable. During the Three Deities battle, it only takes two hits from South to leave her unable to fight for the remainder of the conflict.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: In a possible future, she dies fulfilling her promise to protect Takemichi.
  • Hidden Buxom: She has a noticeably large bust as a girl, but somehow manages to hide it when she wears her gang uniform.
  • It's All My Fault: Senju is convinced that her lying about Haruchiyo breaking Mikey's airplane when they were children, resulting in her brother's scarring at the hands of his friend, caused both Mikey and Haruchiyo's Start of Darkness.
  • Kick Chick: Like her mentor Wakasa, she exclusively uses her legs to fight.
  • The Lad-ette: Not only is she a ferocious gang leader, but she gets along with boys really well and is implied to be masculine, as Takeomi sends her on a shopping spree with his credit card on the basis that she needed to do more "feminine" activities.
  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: Takemichi initially believes her to be male, and is very shocked to find out she's a girl when he sees her in her school uniform. Senju herself doesn't seem to realize it, though.
Senju: Are you saying I look like a guy?
  • Muscles Are Meaningless: Senju has a petite figure and, unlike most male characters, her muscles aren't particularly defined. She's still one of the Three Deities. Justified in that her fighting style relies less on brute strength than it does speed, agility and landing critical hits on specific weak points like the neck.
  • One of the Boys: She's a tomboy leading an all-male gang and spent much of her childhood with Haruchiyo, Mikey and Baji.
  • Parasol of Pain: She sometimes uses an umbrella to fight.
  • Practically Different Generations: She and Takeomi are at least 10 years apart.
  • The Reveal: Senju, Takeomi, and Sanzu are all siblings. Senju's real name is Senju Akashi, and she uses Kawaragi as a working alias.
  • Samus Is a Girl: Chapter 215 reveals that she is actually a girl.
  • Sarashi: She starts wearing one under her unbuttoned jacket after joining Takemichi's new Toman.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Senju is completely fine with talking to Takemichi while in her underwear, claiming there's nothing to worry about because she's wearing a sports bra.
  • Smurfette Principle: Not just the only female gang leader, but the only female delinquent seen in the entire story. She later becomes the first and only female member of the Tokyo Manji Gang when Takemichi reforms it. In the final leap, she still remains as the first and only female member of this gang when Mikey and Takemichi founded.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She bears a striking resemblance to her older brother Sanzu.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Senju is a rough, assertive gang leader who cares more about fighting than doing traditionally feminine activities. However, she finds herself enjoying cute clothes and shopping with a friend once she tries it.
  • Young and in Charge: She's the only teenager in Brahman, which is why she was so quick to befriend Takemichi.

Number 2

    Takeomi Akashi

Takeomi Akashi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/takeomi_9.png

Takeomi is an executive of Brahman and a founding member of the Black Dragons' first generation. In the original future timeline, he is an advisor for Mikey's gang, Bonten.

  • Attention Whore: Mixed with Drunk with Power, Takeomi loves being the center of attention and basking in the praise of others, especially during his Black Dragons days. He refused to accept Shinichiro's decision to quit the gang life because it would mean losing all the power and influence he had acquired, and spent years living a lavish lifestyle built around his former glory.
  • Big Brother Bully: Downplayed. He was unfairly harsh to Haruchiyo when they were younger, but hardly a bully.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Takeomi is protective of Senju and tries to talk her down from fighting in the Battle of the Three Deities, believing she would get hurt.
  • Brother–Sister Team: He and his sister Senju are the leaders of Brahman.
  • Captain Smooth and Sergeant Rough: He plays the Smooth to Senju's Rough, being more laid-back and willing to use cunning and underhanded methods to get his way.
  • Childhood Friends: With Shinichiro Sano.
  • Drunk with Power: As the years went by after the first generation of the Black Dragons disbanded, Takeomi let his strength and fame as part of a famous gang get to his head. He then got involved with the underworld, before eventually falling to a Despair Event Horizon from piling debt and Shinichiro's death. It was only through Senju that he was able to get back on his feet again.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Similar to how the first season of the anime introduced several characters earlier than in the manga by giving them quick cameos, the second season shows Takeomi next to Shinichiro when Mikey is describing his brother's founding of the Black Dragons.
  • A Lady on Each Arm: He was seen like this in a flashback to his post-Black Dragons days.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Takeomi breaks down in tears upon realizing that his greed and lust for power caused his sister to lose her trust in him and hold back on her true potential.
  • Practically Different Generations: He's much older than his siblings, being 27 years old in 2008.
  • Promotion to Parent: The Akashi siblings had no mother and an absentee father. As a result, Takeomi raised Haruchiyo and Senju.
  • Red Baron: He was known as the "God of War" during his time as vice-president of the Black Dragons.
  • The Reveal: Senju, Takeomi, and Sanzu are all siblings.
  • Scars Are Forever: He has a scar on the right side of his face.
  • The Smart Guy: The reason why Senju made him her right-hand man in Brahman: she needed someone to guide her, and trusted his intelligence in addition to his experience.
  • Smoking Is Cool: Takeomi is often seen with a lit cigarette in his mouth.
