Heroine of the Moegino Saga. She has known the Protagonist since childhood, even attending elementary and junior high with him, harboring romantic feelings through the years. Unfortunately she was something of a wallflower and he never took notice of her. Unwilling to let things remain the same, she transforms her appearance and personality in an attempt to finally win his heart. Best friends with Chitose Aizawa.

Least liked heroine in the whole series by fans. She ranks dead last in official Japanese character polls.

An intellegent and scientifically inclined girl with particularly strong interests in robotics. Loves anime and playing video games. Best friends with Mari Oda.

Tropes associated with Rika Kawai:
  • Cynicism Catalyst: When she was young, Rika had a dog named Frickter she loved dearly, but it eventually died. This is what spurned her to scientific experiments, as she hopes to create a robot dog, Mecha Frickter, which would then live forever, as she doesn't want to lose a loved one anymore. This fear of suffering is also the reason why she's so annoyed and disturbed by the little puppy that keeps coming to her at one point of the game, which wants to be loved by her.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Near the very end of the game, when Rika shouts so violently at the little puppy, it runs in the middle of the road and is about to be run over by a truck, she frantically orders her Mecha Frickter to save the puppy, and the robot obeys her for the first time since it was created. The puppy is saved, but the robot is destroyed in the process. Rika then finally opens her heart, and welcome the puppy in her arms and her life.
  • Mad Scientist: In the vein of 1's Yuina.

Tropes associated with Serika Shinjo:
  • Asleep in Class: Because she spends most nights hunting for ghosts and finding her parents.
