Protagonist

    Protagonist

Protagonist

  • Boomerang Comeback: Their arrow is just as deadly when being recalled. This is very helpful against bosses whose weak point is on their back.
  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique: The process used to make their titan-slaying arrow is implied to be this. The opening appears to depict them splitting their soul into three pieces to empower their bow and arrow, and the Elder calls their arrow an "abomination" the protagonist paid a heavy price for.
  • Godhood Seeker: Revealed to be their ultimate goal after the True Final Boss, where they become the next Truth.
  • Mind over Matter: Possesses the power to magically recall their arrow from wherever it is. This happens so fast that the arrow can actually be used for a Boomerang Comeback.
  • The Nameless: If the protagonist has a name of any kind, it is never revealed.
  • Screw the Money, I Have Rules!: Shows no interest in the mountains of gold and jewels found in Avarice's dungeon. A dark variant, as this is to show that they care about nothing other than acquiring the Titan Soul.

Titans

Titans are giant creatures that resides in the ruins and the bosses of the game. They contain souls that are released when slain, and the protagonist seeks to absorb the Titans' Souls across the game.

    Sludgeheart

Sludgeheart, the Heart of the Guardian

  • Asteroids Monster: Attacking Sludgeheart causes it to split in two, with one of the pieces retaining its weak point. You need to strike it five times before its weak point becomes fully vulnerable. In Hard mode, each hit splits into three.
  • Attack on the Heart: Its weak point is a heart, suspended within its slime body.
  • Blob Monster: A large transparent slime holding a disembodied heart.

    Eyecube

Eyecube, the Eye of the Guardian

  • Boomerang Comeback: There is an achievement for killing it with a recalled arrow.
  • Eye Beams: Besides rolling around and trying to crush the protagonist, this is its main form of attack. If the eye is facing downwards, the beam is strong enough to launch it into the air.
  • Go for the Eye: Its weak point, naturally.

    Brainfreeze

Brainfreeze, the Brain of the Guardian

  • Boss-Arena Idiocy: It would be invincible if it didn't fight you in an arena with a convenient fire pit.
  • Frictionless Ice: For most part, Brainfreeze slides across the battlefield until you melt its protective ice casing.
  • Punny Name: Named after the headache induced by eating cold food.

    Gol-Iath

Gol-Iath, the Guardian of the First Gate

  • Boomerang Comeback: There is an achievement for killing it with a recalled arrow. This is actually very difficult to do, as it's impossible to stand behind it within the arena itself — you have to roll out of the arena immediately after waking it, then stand on the ledge above it to recall the arrow.
  • Cognizant Limbs: Its missing parts imply that the previous three Titans were formed from its body parts.
  • Giant Hands of Doom: Mainly attacks using its floating hands. The hand it doesn't use defends its weak point.

    Vinethesis

Vinethesis, the Poisonous Flower

  • Combat Tentacles: Has four thorny vines it sweeps around to attack you. You can cut them off with an arrow, but the discarded husks are still deadly to touch.
  • Deadly Gas: Vinethesis pumps out purple toxic fumes that will follow you around.

    Obello

Obello, the Malformed Hallucinogenic Fungus

  • Helpful Hallucination: In Hard mode, its weak point only becomes visible under the effects of its hallucinogen.
  • Mushroom Samba: Its projectiles leave behind hallucinogenic trails and explode into hallucinogenic clouds. Touching them induces an Interface Screw, with an achievement for staying under its effects for 30 seconds straight.

    Yeti

Yeti, the Old Snow Beast

  • Rolling Attack: It is fond of curling up into a ball and rolling towards you at full speed.
  • Rush Boss: There is an achievement for killing it in under 10 seconds.
  • Shot in the Ass: Its weak point is its exposed butt.
  • Snowball Fight: Throwing giant snowballs is one of the Yeti's attacks.

    Onyxia

Onyxia, the Serpent of the Cold Depths

  • Attack the Tail: Onyxia's weakspot is on the tip of its tail.
  • Boss Arena Urgency: If you're not careful with your position when Onyxia leaps out of the water, it will destroy the platform you're standing on. It will bring new icebergs down from the ceiling every time it uses its electrical attack, but if the fight drags on long enough, it's entirely possible to destroy them all, at which point you're doomed. There's even an achievement for doing so!
  • Electrified Bathtub: Onyxia can charge itself with electricity, which can hit the entire pool of water. The only way to avoid this attack is to get onto one of the floating ice platforms.

    Stratus

Stratus, the Child of the Mountain and Sky

  • Freeze Ray: Stratus can summon a tower that fires a beam that creates shards of ice along its path. It can be baited to hit Stratus' teeth, exposing his weak spot in the process.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Defeating it involves tricking its laser attack to destroy one of its teeth, leaving its weak point exposed. It at least has some awareness of its vulnerability; while even one of its teeth is destroyed, it will hide its now-exposed weakness underground, only surfacing to attack.
  • No Kill like Overkill: There is an achievement for destroying all its teeth before killing it, when you only need to destroy one to kill it.
  • Tombstone Teeth: The long panels on its mouth defend its weak point.

    Mol-Qayin

Mol-Qayin, the Molten Creation of Gol-Qayin

  • Attack the Mouth: One of the steps to kill it involves shooting its mouth while it's inhaling. This gets the arrow caught inside it, letting you pull it around the battlefield.
  • Blob Monster: A sentient ball of lava.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: If it touches one of the bombs it spits out, it will instantly decohere (otherwise only possible by pulling the arrow from inside it). There is even an achievement for making it land a bomb on its own head.
  • Punny Name: The Molten creation of Gol-Qayin.

    Rol-Qayin

Rol-Qayin, the Forged Creation of Gol-Qayin

    Gol-Qayin

Gol-Qayin, the Disgraced Guardian of the Second Gate

  • Cain and Abel: Implied to have murdered Gol-Hevel, its brother. This goes double once you realize their names are literally the Hebrew versions of "Cain" and "Abel".
  • Epic Flail: Gol-Qayin uses its two flails to move and attack.
  • Meaningful Name: The Hebrew name for Cain, a man disgraced after murdering his brother.
  • Off with His Head!: Not too far from its boss arena is a beheaded body. It's implied that this is the rest of Gol-Qayin.
  • Spin Attack: After it is forced to re-orient itself three times, Gol-Qayin goes berserk, spinning around the battlefield and pounding the ground. In Hard Mode, it does this every time it needs to re-orient itself.

    Avarice

Avarice, the Manifestation of Greed

  • Chest Monster: A giant mimic chest that spews coins and teleports across its arena.
  • Money Mauling: One of its attacks involves spewing coins at the player.

    Gol-Hevel

Gol-Hevel, the Murdered Guardian of the Second Gate

  • Cain and Abel: Implied to have been murdered by Gol-Hevel, its brother. This goes double once you realize their names are literally the Hebrew versions of "Cain" and "Abel".
  • Pinball Projectile: Its projectiles bounce off the walls of its arena in Hard mode.
  • Meaningful Name: The Hebrew name for Abel, a man murdered by his brother.
  • Posthumous Character: As "posthumous" as it gets with a Titan. Gol-Hevel's face is fought in the graveyard, and the rest of its body enshrined in the same tomb.

    Gol-Set

Gol-Set, the Guardian of the Eternal Gate

As the penultimate boss of the game, Gol-Set guards the way to the ending. The gate to access it requires seven other Titans to be defeated to unlock (not including the first four that unlock the first gate).
  • Chest Blaster: Gol-Set can fire a powerful beam from its exposed weak point located on the chest. The weak point will then be sealed off after use.
  • Giant Hands of Doom: Like its predecessor Gol-Iath, Gol-Set mainly attacks using its hands.

    The Elder

The Elder, the First Soul

The Elder can only be found in a secret area accessible through a barely-noticeable passageway.
  • Colossus Climb: You climb up a large structure to reach its weak point, though if you look at the big picture the structure is the Titan's body.
  • Mr. Exposition: Downplayed — It provides the only dialogue in the game that sheds light on some of the world's background. Everything else has to be inferred.
  • Zero-Effort Boss: It makes no effort to defend itself.

Other Bosses

    Knight Elhanan

Knight Elhanan, the Legendary Titan Slayer

  • Armor Is Useless: Played with — Oh, sure, that fancy armor protects him just fine while he's wearing it, but hit his big arrow ONCE, and it disappears, leaving him immobile and defenseless for a few seconds. Granted, grabbing your own arrow and firing it again in that time is challenging, but it makes you wonder what he'd do against someone who thought to bring two arrows.
  • Mirror Boss: Elhanan's main mode of attack involves arrows just like the protagonist. His title also implies that he was once a Titan Slayer.
  • One-Hit Polykill: Knight Elhanan's arrows instantly pierce through the pillars in Hard Mode.
  • Pinball Projectile: Elhanan's giant arrow bounces all around the battlefield.
  • Shock and Awe: His main attack involves charging his giant arrow with electricity. Hitting it will create an electric discharge, stunning both you and Elhanan.
  • Tactical Suicide Boss: Despite having plenty of normal arrows to shoot at you, he repeatedly uses his giant arrow, which is the only way to make him vulnerable.

    The Soul

The Soul, image of the Titan Soul

  • Final Boss: The last fight before the credits roll.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: If you miss, it can take your arrow and attack you with it. If you attempt to recall the arrow, you risk recalling its own arrow to you as well, which kills you.
  • Mirror Boss: More so than Elhanan. The Soul takes the protagonist's shape and mainly attacks with an arrow like yours.
  • Pinball Projectile: If it steals your arrow, it will use it for an attack that functions similarly to Elhanan's.
  • Shock and Awe: Like Elhanan, it can charge arrows with electrical energy. It also releases electric orbs when moving.

    Truth (major spoilers)

Truth

If the player has defeated every other Titan in the game, including the Elder, after defeating the Soul, the door in the back of the Soul's chamber opens, and Truth reveals itself.
  • Art Shift: Its fight takes place in a Blank White Void and it's a 3D model unlike the rest of the game.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Whatever Truth is, it behaves in a very alien manner unlike the rest of the game's enemies.
  • Go for the Eye: In all three phases.
  • Klingon Promotion: Defeating Truth allows the protagonist to become the next Truth.
  • Physical God: It is said to have created the Elder, who in turn created humanity.
  • Rolling Attack: In its first phase, it will try to run you over with two of its rings. Only one of the rings contains a weak spot.
  • Sequential Boss: You will need to strike its weak point several times to defeat it, and each time its shape and behaviour changes drastically.
  • True Final Boss: Can only be fought if the player has defeated every other titan in the game.
