    • Karen Momoto - Peach/Pink
    • Sarai Onishi - Yellow
    • Mizuno Souba - Azure
    • Youju Samidori - Teal
    • Fuuma Chiryoku - Green

  • Curtains Match the Window: All of their eyecolor is the same as their haircolor.
  • Elemental Powers: Several of the Strangers have them.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Most of them are part of the Kirito tribe, so they all have non-Human DNA in them.
  • Sixth Ranger: Most of the Strangers past Sarai and Mizuno.

Main Characters

    Kyoko Suomi

The princess of Earth.
Kyoko doesn't want to reveal her being the Earth's princess and would much prefer to keep going to school like a normal student, with her father giving her the chance to avoid this by awakening her sister before their 16th birthday.

Unfortunately, the appearance of the Coppamijin bandits at her school left her to reveal her status. The upside to this was that the Time Stone finally acknowledged Kyoko, and awakened her powers as the Time Stranger.

  • Artistic License – Biology: The only way to explain why Kyoko's hairlength varies wildly over the course of the series. Her hair seems to be past her shoulder-blades, but multiple instaces have her with hair that reaches to her ankles or longer.
  • Bodyguard Crush: She's been holding a torch for Sakataki for some time.
  • Body Snatcher: Kyoko's actually a godly spirit that needs to possess a human body to have physical form in the human world. Ui was her original host, with the dead queen's body serving as her host in the final chapter.
  • Character Development: Her first reason for awakening Ui and becoming a Stranger was to avoid the duties she'll have to take when revealing herself as the princess; and she wanted to use her time-travelling powers to prevent Sakataki from coming to the castle, so she won't have to take flamenco lessons. Kyoko does mature and learns to become less selfish.
  • Happily Adopted: The King tells Kyoko that she was a foundling that he took in. Her origin is a bit more complicated than that.
  • Hidden Depths: She can read smoke signs!
  • Hime Cut: The bangs are a bit wilder than most examples, but her hair is cut into three lengths.
  • Official Couple: Kyoko becomes officially engaged to Sakataki in the final chapter.
  • Physical God: She's the daughter of the God of Time, Chronos.
  • Pointy Ears: Her ears are noticeably pointy. A trait she shares with her father, Chronos.
  • Power Dyes Your Hair: When she uses a lot of her Time Stranger powers, her brown hair turns a deep scarlet.
  • Raised as a Host: Played with. Kyoko was given Ui's body to grow up, as gods require a human body to do so. It was always planned that Kyoko would return Ui's body to her.
  • Ret-Gone: After she returns Ui's body to her, nobody remembers her anymore. Chronos explains it's less that they 'forgot' and more that she 'never existed in their hearts to begin with'.
  • Time Master: As the Time Stranger. Her powers expand to include stopping time, allowing her to travel back in time, and to return people to their original time.

    Sakataki Jin

One of Kyoko's bodyguards.
Sakataki's the younger son of the leader of the Dragon Kirito tribe and was set to be his heir. Unfortunately, the tribe was eradicated, and he and his brother are the only ones remaining.

When Kyoko gains the power to travel back in time, Sakataki asks to return to the day the tribe was attacked. At the time, he had been in charge of a protective stone that was important to the tribe, and he's worried that his losing the stone was the reason they were attacked. During the excursion, Sakataki's revealed to be the Crystal Stranger.

  • Bodyguard Crush: Sakataki has a crush on Kyoko.
  • It's All My Fault: He thinks the Dragon Kirito tribe was attacked and eradicated because he lost the protective stone his father told him to take care of. Turns out to not have been the case, though.

    Hizuki Jin

One of Kyoko's bodyguards.
Hizuki's the older brother of Sakataki. When the Dragon Kirito tribe was eradicated, the two were taken in by the King. Hizuki and Sakataki asked to be appointed as bodyguards to Kyoko.

Hizuki's overall friendly and a bit of a prankster. During the final volume, he reveals himself to be the last Stranger; the Ice Stranger.

  • Beware the Silly Ones: Hizuki proves himself to be un-silly when he needs to be. He knew to what lengths Kyoko goes for others, manipulating things into being found for kissing her, and sentenced to be executed. But he knew that Kyoko would choose to marry him, to save him. He's also the one that caused the Dragon Kirito tribe to be destroye.
  • Bodyguard Crush: Has been nursing a crush on Kyoko for a long time.
  • Dude, She's Like in a Coma: He's been kissing Kyoko while she was asleep.
  • Happily Adopted: Subverted. His adoption by the Dragon Kirito tribe leader was frowned upon, and most people hated him. His adoptive father's stance is unclear.
  • The Reveal: He's the last Stranger. Hizuki's also a Demon Kirito.
  • Say It with Hearts: Hizuki loves doing this. <3
  • The Unfavorite: Felt like this when Sakataki was chosen to be the heir, and not him.

    Princess Ui

The other princess of Earth.
Ui is Kyoko's twinsister, but has been asleep since the two have been born. She can only be awoken, once Kyoko has gathered all the Strangers and the ceremony has been completed.

Once Ui awakens, she turns out to be a rather immature and childish individual, more caring about eating delicious food or having things her way, than to perform princess duties.

  • Big Eater: She's often shown eating, once she awakens.
  • Boy of My Dreams: Ui wants to marry Hizuki because she's dreamt of him kissing her.
  • Grand Theft Me: Chronos had Kyoko take over Ui's body at birth, as gods require a human body to grow up.
  • Kiddie Kid: Justified. Since she's been in suspended animation for a long time, Ui hasn't been given much of a chance to mature into a teenager. As such, she acts like a young child, wanting things like a young child does.
  • Twin Telepathy: Shares synchronization with Kyoko, with her body showing signs of pressure injuries when Kyoko is in danger. Similarly, when there's a reaction to a few Strangers gathering around her clock, Kyoko faints and can hear Ui's voice calling out.

Other Characters

    The Other Strangers

The Strangers that Kyoko has to find.
The only ones that really get any plot relevance and their own time in the spotlight are Karen, as well as Sarai and Mizuno sharing a rivaling tribe story that leads to both of them being revealed as Strangers.

The rest are quickly gathered in the final volume, when Kyoko notices that all the Strangers have been the leaders of the various Kirito tribes. Beyond their help in awakening Ui, they do not serve much purpose.

  • Allergic to Love: Karen begins to cry uncontrollably, whenever she touches a man.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: Sarai and Mizuno, with him being obviously smitten and her generally the one to start bickering with him. Some 4-koma at the end of the final volume shows that the two finally share a kiss and seem to be getting together.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Karen appears sweet and gentle, but can be quite mean. A 4-koma at the end of the final volume depicts Kikurage reappearing and wanting to win her back, only for her to pretend to not know him.
  • Catgirl: Yami has an appearance reminiscent of cats. Justified, as she's the leader of the Cat Kirito tribe.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: The Dark Stranger. Beyond her title, nothing indicates that she's not nice. In fact, she's quite polite.
  • Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: Yami's eyes are designed this way.
  • Facial Markings: Mizuno has three strikes in a fan-shape on her forehead.
  • Meaningful Name: Mizuno's name contains 'water', fitting for the Aqua Stranger.
  • Official Couple: Mizuno and Sarai, after quite some bickering between them. There's also implication that Fuuma has a crush on Youju, and the final chapter reveals that Karen started dating Toba.
  • Only in It for the Money: Rin wants 1 Million in cash for doing this Stranger business.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: The Mermaid tribe, fittingly enough. Mizuno only obtains legs once she awakens as the Aqua Stranger, whereas her brother Ginga is never shown with a tail.
  • Seashell Bra: Mizuno wears one, adorned with transparent frill.
  • She's Not My Girlfriend: Yami's not Widoseek's 160th girlfriend!
  • The Stoic: Setsuna appears to be one.
  • "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: The final pages reveal that Yami, Fuuma and Youju have remained at the palace and are working there now, but that Setsuna and Rin have returned to their tribes.

    The King & Chocola

The King of Earth and his android, Chocola.
He tells Kyoko that she can avoid revealing her identity as a princess, if she can awaken Ui from her slumber. Since Ui was the only one to be born on June 10th that year, he agreed to let Kyoko take over Ui's body to help Chronos. When Kyoko returns, he offers her to take over his wife's body, so she can regain a physical form.

Chocola's an android that was originally planned for housework. However, she was missing a crucial part and was thrown away at the dump. The King fell in love with her at first sight and took her home.

    Coppamijin

The bandit gang known as Coppamijin.
Widoseek and Ginga are the leaders and they go about stealing things and making themselves rich. When Kyoko stands up to him, Widoseek gleefully kisses her cheek and declares her his 285th girlfriend!

Widoseek turns out to be part of the Snake Kirito tribe and the older brother of Sarai. At the same time, Ginga's part of the Mermaid tribe and the older brother of Mizuno.

  • The Comically Serious: Ginga, who doesn't care that he's wearing a frilly apron with a teddy bear depicted on it when he's intent on murdering someone for making him think Widoseek is injured.
  • Curse: The Snake tribe used a sacrifice to remove the seal around their God Stone, which caused Widoseek to be cursed. If the curse is not broken, it's implied to hit Sarai eventually.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": Widoseek does not answer to his real name of Akira.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: The curse on Widoseek causes a snake pattern to slowly spread over his body. When the pattern covers his whole body, he'll die.
