Characters of The Wiggles.
The Wiggles
Current members
- Played by: Anthony Field
The blue Wiggle and only remaining original member. He's always hungry and loves all types of food. He's a multi-instrumentalist, but usually plays the drums and guitar.
- Big Eater: He really loves to eat.
- Cool Old Guy: Being the only one of the original Wiggles to stick around for the new era, he comes off as this. This is lampshaded a few times.
- Costume Evolution: His shirt was green for the band's early years before transitioning to his signature blue in the late 90s.
- I Can't Dance: Suffered this in a Season 2 episode where he loses his wiggle in one of the main stories.
- Parent-Child Team: The other Blue Wiggle in the current group is his daughter Lucia, leading to this dynamic.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Fruit salad. He also likes apples.
- Vocal Evolution: Anthony's voice deepened slightly and sounds more relaxed and nasally since the 2013 lineup.
- Played by: Lachlan Gillespie
The current purple Wiggle as of 2013. He has a habit of sleeping like Jeff, though not as much. He's also an aspiring inventor who likes building new things, which backfire on him somewhat.
- Legacy Character: Has inherited Jeff's tendency to fall asleep at inopportune times. The song "Wake Up Jeff" has also been repurposed for him as "Wake up Lachy"
- Mad Scientist: Though not the "mad" type.
- Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Out of the two new male members - in contrast to Simon, he wears a purple skivvy, has a slightly flamboyant voice and rides a pink-and-purple toy pony.
- Played by: Simon Pryce
The current red Wiggle as of 2013. He is the group's current lead singer and loves singing in different styles.
- Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Out of the two new male members - in contrast to Lachy, he wears a red skivvy, has a very deep, full voice and has a muscular build to his body.
- Played by: Tsehay Hawkins
The current yellow Wiggle as of 2021. She's into many types of dancing.
- The Baby of the Bunch: She was 17 when she joined the band in 2021, and she is the youngest member of the Wiggles.
- Meaningful Name: Her name means "sunflower", which also fits the sunflower motif in her pants and hair.
- Signature Headgear: She's almost never seen without her sunflower barrettes.
- Token Minority: The only African member of the group.
- Verbal Tic: Usually more in Behind the Scenes but she often tends to use the word "slay" a lot.
Original members
- Played by: Greg Page
The original yellow Wiggle and lead singer of the group. He also loves to perform magic tricks.
- Big Ol' Eyebrows: Has really thick ones.
- Gentle Giant: Was the largest of the original group, and is also the softie.
- Only Sane Man: Out of all the four original Wiggles - compared to Anthony's eating habits, Jeff's laziness, and Murray's often misunderstandings about advice, Greg is shown to be the most mature of the boys and has a lot more common sense, giving advice to others like in "Racing to the Rainbow" when he tells Anthony to chew his food slower. But nonetheless, he can let his foolishness get the better of him.
- Stage Magician: His signature schtick, known as "Magic Greg". His tricks always seemed to backfire on him somewhat, usually thanks to Anthony's meddling.
- Played by: Murray Cook
The original red Wiggle and lead guitarist. He's a music lover and is almost never seen without his trademark guitar.
- The Rock Star: Stands out as this, and is almost always carrying a guitar with him during a concert.
- Screams Like a Little Girl: Has this moment in one of the early concert videos "Wiggledance". He moans about how he hardly had any sleep because there was a dog (turning out to be Wags) barking outside. Once Wags is behind him and he turns around, he briefly becomes absentminded before he turns around again, and jumps up with a shriek, to which his scream scares the crap out of Greg, Jeff and Wags.
- Played by: Jeff Fatt
The original purple Wiggle and keyboardist. He is narcoleptic and has a habit of always falling asleep from time to time.
- Cool Old Guy: He was ironically the oldest of the original group despite his small size.
- Heavy Sleeper: His main habit is falling asleep at random times in random places, prompting the other Wiggles to wake him.
- Large Ham: Comes off as this once he's woken up, sometimes doing lots of silly things to boot.
- Older Than They Look: Don't let his small height fool you — he's really the oldest of the original Wiggles.
- Phrase Catcher: Screaming "WAKE UP, JEFF!" wakes him up.
Former members
- Played by: Philip Wilcher
The original fifth member of the group in the band's early days.
- The Pete Best: While he wasn't replaced by anyone else, he did leave before the band took off, having only been involved with the very first album
- Played by: Sam Moran
The second yellow Wiggle from 2007 until 2011. He was the lead singer during his time with the group.
- Ascended Extra: Sam worked with the Wiggles in various capacities before taking over for Greg. He was a wiggly dancer and played a few speaking roles in certain videos.
- Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Took Greg's place during the late '00s to the early '10s, and looked very much like Greg as well.
- Played by: Emma Watkins
The third yellow Wiggle from 2013 until 2022. She's known for dressing very feminine, and loves her trademark bow.
- Girlish Pigtails: Her usual hairstyle.
- Signature Headgear: Her yellow bow.
Wiggly Friends
- Catchphrase:
- "Ahoy there, me hearties!"
- "Well, blow me down!" (which the Wiggles exactly do)
- Friendly Pirate: The friendliest pirate around.
- Metal Scream: Gives and impressively high one in "Captain's Magic Buttons" when the "metal" button is pressed on his jacket.
- The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: He's a softie who's usually tickling people with his Feathersword.
- Lost Voice Plot: Literally loses her voice in a Season 2 episode.
- Signature Headgear: Has her floppy white sunhat.
- Signature Laugh: Her girlish "Hee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee!". In the early years, she had a deeper-sounding Noblewoman's Laugh instead.
- Signature Move: Has two of them; the "Romp Bomp a Stomp" dance where she stomps and "chomps" her hands, and dancing like an Egyptian.
- The Smurfette Principle: She's the only female mascot.
- Stylish Sunhats: Dorothy the dinosaur wears a white-striped sunhat with a red rose.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Roses, which she grows in her garden.
- Walk Like an Egyptian: One of her two signature dances.
- Funny Octopus: He's a friendly and funny octopus, and the funniest of the friends.
- Signature Headgear: His is a plaid boater hat matching his eight-legged pants.
- Signature Move: Spinning round in circles with his tentacles outstretched.
- Big Friendly Dog: He's a dog, and he's literally big and friendly.
- Brought to You by the Letter "S": Has his first inital "W" monogrammed into his tummy.
- Silent Snarker: Hardly if ever speaks a lot in the franchise, but he can show some body language to show his displeasure in other's antics (primarily with Captain Feathersword in "Series 2" where he has dialogue as thoughts).
- Super-Senses: Has the ability to hear things no one else can if they're far away enough. He also has good smelling skills.
- The Voiceless: Only talks by barking; the others have no trouble understanding him, though.
