    Alastair

Alastair Corvus

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fullsizeoutput_51.jpeg

A Dark Mage and the husband of Prof. Devonna Corvus.

  • Casting a Shadow: Like the king, Alastair is a Dark Mage and a proud one at that.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: With Devonna, having met her when they were children after he repaired a toy of hers that a group of bullies had destroyed.
  • Conflicting Loyalty: Downplayed. While Alastair is an elite soldier for Graystone, some of his family members have stronger ties to the royal family of Nydor since he and his family were Nydorian natives before moving to Graystone. This left Alastair with a hidden struggle of trying to pick which side to stay true to, but above else, his family with Devonna would ultimately come first.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: And don't ever suggest otherwise, at least not where he can hear you, lest he give a couple of death glares.
  • Goth: Alastair has a vampire aesthetic to him, earning him the nickname "The Count". He even had a goth-themed wedding. He is, however, a big softie when it comes to his loved ones.
  • Happily Married: With his wife, Devonna, who is a proud goth just like him. Due to being part of the king's elite military squadron, he can't really be around enough to stay and help Devonna with the baby, but they still maintain a close bond.
  • Master of Illusion: As a Dark Mage, Alastair has power over illusions.
  • Mystical White Hair: Technically, platinum-blonde hair.
  • Not Evil, Just Misunderstood: How he feels about dark magic, wanting more people to understand that it's not something to be feared (at least, not anymore).
  • Stealth Expert: Alastair prefers to use his dark magic for stealth purposes.
  • The Stoic: Is described as an eerily calm and collected man. He often gives off an intimidating impression but is a kind man when one gets to know him.

    Taiyin

Taiyin Zhou

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fullsizeoutput_53.jpeg

A Fire Mage and the granddaughter of Prof. Jie Zhou.

  • All Asians Know Martial Arts: While The Three Mages takes place in a separate world from Earth and therefore the people have no Earth ethnicities, Taiyin is East Asian-coded (specifically Chinese) and is a member of the king's elite squadron.
  • Flaming Sword: Taiyin likes to coat her swords with fire for combat.
  • Former Teen Rebel: In her teen years, Taiyin was a rebellious girl who joined a gang for a brief period. She grew out of this, however, after going through a long reform of community service.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Along with her magic, Taiyin uses swords in battle. The artwork makes it a bit difficult to tell, but this trope could cross with Katanas Are Just Better.
  • Loony Friends Improve Your Personality: Her, um... "colorful" comrades in the Elite Squadron are helping her to enjoy life more.
  • Make It Look Like an Accident: Taiyin is convinced that the deaths of her parents had not been accidents as people claim and vows to hunt down their murderers and bring them to justice.
  • Playing with Fire: Taiyin is a Fire Mage with the ability to generate and manipulate fire.
  • Raised by Grandparents: After her parents' deaths, Taiyin was raised by her grandfather, Jie.

    Kiyana

Kiyana Ires

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fullsizeoutput_55.jpeg

An Electric Mage and the youngest member of the King's Elite Squadron.

  • Ambiguously Brown: Since the world of The Three Mages takes place in another world apart from Earth, the characters don't have Earth ethnicities, but Word of God says Kiyana would be Jamaican.
  • Armed Legs: A literal example in her case. Her prosthetic legs have been modified to act as bladed weapons when in combat.
  • Artificial Limbs: Having been born without the lower half of her legs, Kiyana needed to have prosthetic legs which had greatly contributed to her reaching the Elite's rankings thanks to her making special modifications to them.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: As the youngest of the King's Elite, Kiyana is this which leads to her comrades to see her as Everyone's Baby Sister.
  • Best Friend: To her teammate, Beau Blanchard.
  • Cute Bruiser: Kiyana is an adorable young woman who kicked her way to greatness.
  • Daddy's Girl: Even though they don't see each other often, Kiyana is very close to her father, the one who gifted her with her prosthetic legs.
  • Hurricane Kick: Kiyana's fighting style involves having her legs act as bladed weapons and spinning around/kicking to make the most of them.
  • Kick Chick: Of course.
  • Shock and Awe: Kiyana has the ability to manipulate electricity/lightning.

    Maerea

Maerea Rivetez

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fullsizeoutput_57.jpeg

A Water Mage who is the physically strongest member of the King's Elite.

  • Action Mom: A member of the King's Elite and a mother of triplets.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Since the world of The Three Mages takes place in another world apart from Earth, the characters don't have Earth ethnicities, but Word of God says Maerea would be of Cuban descent.
  • The Big Gal: Maerea is the most muscular and physically strongest of the King's Elite Squadron, but is also one of the nicest members.
  • Big Sister Instinct: As the eldest of several siblings, Maerea became this.
  • Does Not Know Her Own Strength: Similar to Tula, Maerea can give hugs with the strength to break backs when she's not paying attention.
  • Happily Married: Maerea absolutely loves her husband who doesn't even mind her near back-breaking hugs.
  • Making a Splash: Maerea is a Water Mage with the ability to control water.
  • Team Mom: Being a big sister and a mother of three, she tends to step in to take care of whoever may need her help.

    Beau

Beau Blanchard

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fullsizeoutput_59.jpeg

A Metal Mage and a kind yet somewhat naive member of the King's Elite Squadron.

  • Best Friend: To his teammate, Kiyana Ires.
  • Extra-ore-dinary: As a Metal Mage, Beau can manipulate metal to the point of creating metallic shields and cloak himself in metal like a statue.
  • The Pollyanna: Beau is a sweet and earnest guy who just wants to make things right in the world after being inspired by many war heroes his mom would read to him as a child.
  • Skilled, but Naive: While Beau was certainly skilled enough to join the ranks of the King's Elite, he's still kind of naive to getting certain queues of how to fit into proper military procedures, so right now he can come off as rather naive around his older peers.

    Bastian

Bastian Veranes

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fullsizeoutput_5d.jpeg

A Wind Mage and a former sailor who became a member of the King's Elite.

  • Blow You Away: Bastian is a Wind Mage and often uses his abilities to create minor twisters to catch his foes off guard.

    Everna

Everna Lockwood

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/everna_lockwood.png

An Earth Mage who has an interest in potion brewing.

  • Ambiguously Brown: Since the world of The Three Mages takes place in another world apart from Earth, the characters don't have Earth ethnicities, but Word of God says that Everna would be Indian.
  • Happily Adopted: Given how her parents provided her a luxurious and comfortable life, this comes as no surprise. They even allowed her to have a garden area once they learned of her interest in the outdoors.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Is a lesbian and judging from her classy attire, a feminine one.
  • The Quiet One: Is not much of a talker.
