    Aldwyn and his demons

Aldwyn "The Dark Sovereign" Nightingale

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1dseplvor_1dsemokql_aldwyn_hair_change.png
Aldwyn

An experienced and powerful Warlock. His journey has been a long and treacherous one, but it has not been without its rich rewards, dark or otherwise. And yet, somehow, he has a feeling it's nowhere close to finished just yet. He is the abandoned son of a whore and an unknown man, found and raised by an old Warlock deep in Duskwood after he was abandoned there to die eaten by the Worgen or the wolves as an infant.

Azraloth, Greater Felhound

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1dc9n5r35_tumblr_p0gdhhntua1sn3ne4o5_500.jpg

The first Demon Aldwyn has ever summoned and by complete accident to boot. While Azraloth's status as Greater Felhound makes him more dangerous, it does not make him smarter. He will follow his master's orders like an attack dog because that is what he is, but he does have bestial cunning. As a Felhound, he is most useful against spellcasters but his raw strength and speed make him useful in all situations where combat is needed.

Tropes

  • Canine Companion:This to the nth degree.Has a grand moment when after having their magic silenced the MC calls upon Azraloth and he smashes into a gladiatoral arena fangs baring. Also being the first demon summoned by Aldwyn makes him be referred to as 'his hound'

Pinprick, Fel Imp

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1df6u6i7r_4jqxtpgglnpez5yc3jus65cooe4mc8rl2pago1lq1y2leyjamlhhhmpwk5kifmm6juv000rrfub6k5bozgpn759te2q2fsrlrluaghf52n0cbykzgrq.jpg

This is Imp. Aldwyn summoned him as a more powerful replacement for the Old Imp. As a Fel Imp, he is stronger than a regular Imp but that itself is not saying much, (oh come on! That's racist, boss man!). He has the same old abilities as an Imp such as being able to singe off magical effects but he can also cauterize wounds with magic. It hurts, but it works. His name is supposedly Pinprick - not like the smuggest Warlock cares.

Perhaps Aldwyn's old resentment over the old Imp is coloring his view (It definitely is, boss man!) but he doesn't like his stupid grin. (That's my best feature though!)

Tropes

  • Senseless Sacrifice: An imp's entire purpose is to be weak, ineffectual and to eventually die therefore when using the more advanced spells in his arsenal like Demonbolt if the imp is active at the time he tends to instantly be vaporised as his energy is used to buff up the spell.Of course this had meaning before demonbolt with the imp being thrown frequently into melee range for a quick death to buy some time as is their nature.

Aiuethull'kro, Herald of the Void Of Pride Unbound

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1dcn2fu7s_1dcmr64u8_tumblr_ofrmq5y2te1se6he6o1_1280.png

A 'Demon' or Void Creature rather, which Aldwyn has bound to himself. He hesitates to call it a Demon simply because creatures of the Void are almost entirely different than the Demons of the Burning Legion, but it doesn't seem to mind or care at being called a Demon.

Just like Azraloth, Aldwyn summoned him by complete accident. Preparing a ritual for a Voidwalker, he instead summoned Aluethull'kro, his very presence freezing you in place. Maybe it was impressed by how the young human summoned him by complete accident or maybe it was just amused, but he gave him an option. To have a servant of the Void or its Herald.

He chose the latter and stared damnation in the face for it. In return, he gave him his very own name, binding him to the young Warlock just like the Imp and Azraloth are. Afterwards, he threw up all three of his rabbit stews but considered that a small price to pay for such power.

Valulaena, Witch Warrior, Scourge Of A Thousand Worlds

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1de43sq9t_1de2lfqdm_ben_juniu_celiena2.jpg

Aldwyn's Felguard which he has bound to himself and the first Demon he has summoned to have a definitive gender, as weird as that sounds. He fought against Valulaena shorty after summoning her and insulting her in short measure. She tried to kill the young Warlock in a single strike, but the wards of the ritual circle held up against her demonic enhanced strength. However, the boy could tell they wouldn't last a second time so he did the only thing you could do.

He wiped away a part of the ritual circle, completely disregarding its protection and challenging her to a battle of strength. The smuggest Warlock bet his very soul and maybe even Gakin's if she decided to kill him.

With broken, snapped wings and a twisted mangled arm due to his Herald managing to grab her when she went for the kill on Azraloth, she took a knee and submitted to Aldwyn's will.

Tropes

  • Knight Templar: Semi-Subverted.
    • Despite being a literal Demon the omake showing the backstories of the demons show that as a Eredar her life was greatly changed by the burning legion and turned her from a crippled child into a powerful warrior therefore she has great loyalty to the legion and it's values.

Raze, Fel Raptor

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1dmeotmke_1des9mupt_1dejna9l0_1dei0ojbd_felociraptor.jpg

Raze, Aldwyn's first mount and possibly the first ever bound Fel Raptor. Using Jenette's ritual to infuse an animal with fel, turning them a demonic caricature of themselves. Staring out as a simply unruly raptor that he had to flare his magical power at to make him submit, Aldwyn subjected him to the ritual due to the words of the seer known as Takar.

Despite the high risk of failure and death, Raze not only survived but flourished under the weight of fire and fel. Almost doubling in size, Raze's single sharp horn has been burned away to give him massive ram horns instead and the ability to breathe fel flame. He is a true abomination of nature and his master couldn't be happier.

Tropes

  • Horse of a Different Color: Is a fire breathing raptor and the loyal mount of Aldwyn. unfortunately riding a dinosaur about is not always as practical as a nice common horse causing a great deal of agitation to Aldwyn when circumstances force him to piggyback on someone elses mount or worse trudge along on foot.
  • Troubled Backstory Flashback: During a side omake showing some of the perspectives of the demon's Raze was shown to have had a family and children before he was taken away as part of the Usual tricks of the Goblins Raze a particularly angry Raptor who after some Jurassic world 'eyes on me' trickery is easily the most 'happy' of the demonic cadre under aldwyns command.

Ynsal, Ish'tarii Matron Of Corruption

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1df5sj400___albedo_overlord_maruyama_drawn_by_user_xgpy8228__420b84ac6571f718d5afc3df50cf73dc.jpg

Aldwyn's Succubus and the woman who stole his first kiss. He summoned her with the Soul of Edwin Van Cleef and the Soul of an unnamed Paladin of the Scarlet Crusade, branches of the Heartswood and a bloody, raunchy love letter. Out of all his Demons, she is possibly the most complex and humanlike yet. Sultry, yet bored in an instant, her mood shifts and he has a tough time telling when she is just being difficult for the sake of it or she really feels that way.

When he first summoned her, the young Warlock got a first-hand experience of how powerful her charm magic is when a single black feather brushed against his hand. It was only a brief moment and for that, he is silently thankful of.

In truth, the 'purpose' he had come with was nothing more than his own delusions and it was through the Succubus' own twisted nature that he saw through her disguise as Aldwyn's Mistress. Beating at her own game with his own immortal soul on the line, Aldwyn woke up in the real world, his head laid on her soft lap as she smiled down at him, full of erotic warmth.

She gave the Warlock her name, Ynsal, and took his first kiss to bind herself to him.

Destreroch, Ignifar Vulcanus, Scourge of Cen'gar, Emperor of Infernal Brimstone, Eater of Ruvaraad

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1duftoeo3_1def0512edda3c2ef7d3501e0b23617b.jpg

The Emperor of Infernal Brimstone. The Scourge of Cen'gar and the Eater of Ruvaraad. All incredibly lofty titles, all reeking of arrogance wrought by fire and war.

They meant nothing to Aldwyn and maybe even less to Destreroch. Performing the Ritual of Fire and Flame, he summoned a Vulcanus to his location, kneeling just where the Firelord fell by Jenette's hand.

Vulcanus, Higher Demons of War and Brimstone. It is said that they could boil seas just by standing near them. That they could drink the very flames of a Sun and be no worse for wear, leaving the worlds a cold, dead husk.

Because of his power and resilience, Destreroch holds the honour of being the first one to ever fight against Aldwyn's Ascended form which later tilted the prolonged battle in his favour.

    Mayor characters

Mistress Nightingale

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1dc9bh7f5_old_witch_by_dina_tukhvatulina_d8lyvlx_pre.png

Aldwyn's Mistress and the woman who cared for him ever since she found him thrown away as a baby. She taught the boy everything he now knows about being a Warlock and shaped him into who he is today. Despite her harsh methods, the Warlock knows she cares for him just like he cares for her.

Tropes

  • Mentor Archetype: The Mistress of Aldwyn and effectively the main parental figure in his early life that taught him how to become a warlock after he disrupted one of her own sorcerous rituals and managed to shackle a felhound to his will. She later appears to guide Aldwyn during the metamorphosis ritual and her Form is taken by a disguised Ynsal.

Gakin, the Darkbinder

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1de98438j_ajrxwbi.jpg

His... second teacher, Aldwyn could say but in truth, the whole coven was more of a close study group or benefactors than teachers. He is a solemn, old Warlock, but if his reaction to the young boy's most powerful Demons says anything, he is far stronger than he appears to be. He told Aldwyn about the Felguard's subspecies that he himself has summoned. Whether he bound them or not, the smuggest Warlock does not know. He used to be a leader of a coven and his skill in Demonology earned him the title of 'Darkbinder' but as far as Aldwyn can tell, the coven itself no longers exist...

Tropes

  • Demoted to Extra: Despite his role and power, Gakin quickly faded into the background after a short time, much like most of the members of his Coven.
  • Killed Offscreen: He, along with the entire Coven (minus Jenette) are killed around the time Aldwyn is taken prisoners, under the orders of Katrana Prestor. It is only mentioned later that such a thing happened.

Jenette, The Determined Warlock, Warlock of Desolation

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1e0aj3sh8_61006.jpg

Aldwyn's fellow 'student' in the coven though she herself has only been a Warlock for a few scant months compared to his lifetime of practising the dark magics. At first, he was told that she had great talent in the Art of Affliction just like he had his talent in Demonology and while he felt it, her meek and shy demeanour made her stagnate as if she was a floating piece of pond scum.

However, despite that, she is far more skilled and willing to make new spells and rituals to satisfy her curiosity and to prove to herself that she can just like the smuggest Warlock must prove himself superior to the Demons under his command. It was not until Gakin's quest that she truly started to come into her own as a Warlock, however.

Davet, The Paladin of Retribution

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1dsaep5jj_1dn02tmon_1961e256b72fb1c6c20ddd694678fe28.jpg

A Paladin that Aldwyn met when Bolvar Fordragon called for the Warlock's aid in dealing with the Defias Brotherhood and their Kingpin, Edwin Van Cleef. As expected, he didn't really take to his presence as a practitioner of the dark arts well. He objected strongly to the Regent Lord, telling him that the Warlock was not needed for this mission and that someone like him had no place among them.

With the help of his sister, Marietta, the Warlock managed to reforge the broken man Tirion was once and in turn, help redeem the once zealots of the Scarlet Crusade into something more than what they once were.

Of course, they all know the smuggest Warlock didn't intend for this to happen and Davet in particular seems bewildered just how heavy a hand he had in making him a Highlord.

Marietta, The Priestess Of Light And Shadow

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1dq9uaedn_1ddktmujr_images_174.jpeg

Marietta Lightsteel, sister of Davet Lightsteel. A chipper, perk woman, Aldwyn would hardly believe that she had the willpower to command both Light and Shadow but she lives up to her name, if nothing else.

Same as her brother, he met Marietta as he was tasked with the job of going into the Deadmines and putting an end to the Kingpin's reign of terror along with his Defias Brotherhood. No doubt due to her use of Shadow magic, Marietta was one of the first to introduce herself to the Warlock and to at least make an effort to be polite. She is a sweet girl and so unlike Davet, there were far fewer incidents of mistrust during your purge of the Deadmines. The only real thing he can think of is when she asked him about your usage of Soul Shards.

Sometime later, Aldwyn met her and Davet in the Eastern Plaguelands, carving up some Carrion Worms for some reason or another. As it turns out, they were on a task from Tirion Fordring himself and well... The rest is history as they say.

During the battle with Balnazzar, he had to resort to using Aiuethull'kro simply to survive but having such a powerful Void creature on the field wreaked havoc on Marietta's mind. At least for a time but she lived to her name of steel and found it in her to regain her mind and help defeat the Dreadlord.

His last conversation with her was a simple question of where he summoned and bound Aiuethull'kro along with how he went about it. The last time he saw her, she was already on horseback...

Valeera Sanguinar, The Blood Rogue

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1dqa3ou5c___blood_elf_and_valeera_sanguinar_warcraft_and_1_more_drawn_by_21yc_september_breeze__1e3aebc6bf9c88eeba6167011695cc1a.jpg

Aldwyn first met Valeera Sanguinar when the Warlock became enslaved by Rehgar Earthfury and he will admit, only to himself, that having her around made it much more bearable than it otherwise could've been.

At the start, it was only him, Broll and Valeera as Rehgar's slaves. Considering Broll's burly nature, his anger and mistrust to both the boy and Valeera, it was only natural that the smuggest Warlock and the Rogue would at the very least get along. She is a snarky girl, sarcasm is never far behind when she speaks.

But, she has a surprisingly sensitive side. So far, she is the only one that truly knows of what the boy went through as Gel Barrensmile's slave and what he was forced through. She is the only one that knows the collar that once adorned his neck was used liberally on you, the electric shocks a painful reminder of dark days.

In confiding in her, which was a more difficult task than he was expecting, she told him her story. How she came to be a rogue, how she came to be a slave and how she has survived thus far. He doesn't know if he's the only that she's told this to but just as his secret is safe with her, so is her secret safe with him.

Though a child by Elven standards, she's his elder by three years though he would find that easier to believe if she acted a bit less... bratty, at times. Especially back in the old days between her and Broll's arguments. In any case, despite her young age, she is a deadly combatant on the field and the arena, darting around with speed unmatch and easily disarming her foes.

Despite her lack of a refined attitude, she is still proud to be a Blood Elf and the only times he has seen her get truly angry is when Broll would insult both her people and their addiction.

And just like her people, she also was suspect to the magical addiction that inflicted her people. Though she has managed to keep it under control for now, time will tell if she can resist the lure of magic. Or fall prey to it.

Broll Bearmantle, The Horned Druid

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1dqa0h6ua_mark_abadier_brollbearmantle_markabadier.jpg

Broll Bearmantle is a Druid Night Elf that the Warlock met when Rehgar bought the human boy and he is the first and only Druid with antlers the Warlock has ever seen. At first, he thought it was a result of Druidic corruption but it simply turned out to be a birth defect among his race. When he first met him, to say the boy hated him would be wrong. He found him annoying, terribly so. If just for the simple reason that he never quite shut up about how terrible his magic was and how the consequences could be dire if the Warlock kept using them.

But as time past and the two were forced more or less to interact with each other, Aldwyn feels that, like a fungus, he has grown on him and the Warlock on him. His once angry shouts to mild grumbles and his heated glares turned to mild frowns. He doesn't quite know what brought about this change but he thinks it might have to do with something about his age. If that is the case, the boy would like a few words with him.

But, it would be unfair to say that Broll does not have his reason for hating Demons or anything relating to them. His daughter was killed when she tried to protect him from the corrupted Idol, the backlash of Fel energies killing her and in turn, corrupting Broll's spirit form of the Bear.

But now, the once corrupted Druid has been cleansed along with the Idol. Aldwyn helped contain the rampant Fel energies while Broll cleansed it in the Emerald Dream (or sleep through the fight, you still quite can't decide which one is true) and his anger is now only truly reserved for his and Varian's enemies.

Tirion, The Champion of Dire Maul. Lo'gosh, The Ghost Wolf. Varian Wrynn, the Warrior-King of Stormwind

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1dsaer0n9_d52cutn_b4ba3fb5_f977_4550_9e3c_90df59a25f1c.jpg

An amnesic warrior that Rehgar found one day, a couple of days after the death of one of his slaves. An orc called Bloodgut or something. When the boy first met the warrior, he didn't even know his own name, let alone anything else. While Valeera and Broll argued for the 100th time, Aldwyn took the time to talk with the amnesic warrior, eventually giving him a name to call him by.

And so the smuggest Warlock gave him the name Tirion. Named after a man that left an impression on the boy and hopefully, he would reforge himself just like Tirion Fordring did. Tirion, or rather Varian as the boy later learned, is a gloomy fellow that barely cracks a smile and like Valeera, his quips are often little more than sarcasm. But Aldwyn wouldn't call him emotionless. He has seen him when he's furiously angry and he has seen him when he mopes about. He has even even seen him smile, albeit very rarely.

    Minor characters

Althea Ebonlocke

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jj_22.png

Human commander in Darkshire. A woman with flowing black hair, sharp but pretty features and tends to be heavily armed in plate mail with a sabre dangling by her hip. Is a good person, overall. Holds a grudge against the female Defias ice mage that Aldwyn captured.

Gryan Stoutmantle

An older looking man with a full grey beard, grey hair and wrinkles lining his stern yet calm face, a heavy looking hammer on his back and wearing a full suit of plate mail, old and battered but still sturdy looking. He is a Paladin that Aldwyn met in Westfall. He made a good impression on the Warlock.

Bolvar Fordragon, Regent Lord Of Stormwind

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1dcttpci1_d9b6r3b_df2e112f_db40_4180_9a44_82d7f023fd7c.jpg

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon was a venerated human paladin of the Alliance and served as the Regent of Stormwind following the disappearance of King Varian Wrynn. Aldwyn met him when he first reached Stormwind, on a mission to deliver a captured Defias bandit. The Paladin, who was currently regent, made a good impression on the Warlock.

Jalane Ayrole

A human woman with bright violet eyes; dressed in elaborate purple robes and a tailor, she's a warlock of the Coven, specializing in making the special shadow weave robes the warlocks of the Coven wear. Rather prone to teasing and ara ara moments.

Tropes

  • Killed Offscreen: She, along with the entire Coven (minus Jenette) are killed around the time Aldwyn is taken prisoners, under the orders of Katrana Prestor. It is only mentioned later that such a thing happened.

Demisette Cloyce

An older looking human woman, Zardeth's wife. A warlock of all trades, in the Coven. She usually wears a blood-red robe that exposes her cleavage. Just like her husband, her skin is pale and her hair is a silky smooth black. She felt strong, but not as strong as Zardeth - at least according to Aldwyn's senses. Has an hourglass figure.

Tropes

  • Killed Offscreen: She, along with the entire Coven (minus Jenette) are killed around the time Aldwyn is taken prisoners, under the orders of Katrana Prestor. It is only mentioned later that such a thing happened.

Ursula Deline

A human woman with fiery red hair and just as fiery a personality, she's the Coven's expert on Destruction and usually wears blood-red robes with cleavage window, much like Demisette.

Tropes

  • Killed Offscreen: She, along with the entire Coven (minus Jenette) are killed around the time Aldwyn is taken prisoners, under the orders of Katrana Prestor. It is only mentioned later that such a thing happened.

Zardeth "of the Black Claw"

The leader of Stormwind's warlock Coven. A human male, with pale white skin, black hair and a full beard. He usually wears a dark grey robe, his cloth pauldrons adorned with spikes and a staff made out of some bones that somewhat resemble a human; he can summon a Fel Imp.

Tropes

  • Killed Offscreen: He, along with the entire Coven (minus Jenette) are killed around the time Aldwyn is taken prisoners, under the orders of Katrana Prestor. It is only mentioned later that such a thing happened.

Jogdur Blastpowder and Slither

A large, burly Dwarf. He usually wears a large round metal tube on his back with an end that seems to flare out like a flower at the end. At his feet lay a large... worm-like creature with carapace armour. It's laying down at his feet but Aldwyn can tell that if it stood fully, it would tower over the Warlock. Just like the Druid, he wore leather armour but Aldwyn could see the slight shine of linked steel underneath it. His large, brown beard hides his mouth and his eyes are steel gray.
