The Jellax

A race of slime-based aliens who take—or can take—human shape at will, the Jellax seek to transform humanity and have them live together as one, big family forever. Whether they want to or not.

    General
  • The Ageless: As stated on the main page, the Jellax effectively only age until their prime and afterward seem to never die of old age. There have even been cases of old folks becoming younger after their conversion!
  • Aliens Are Bastards: No... no they're not, actually. They might feel justified in forcing humanity to convert, but in the end their hearts are in the right place.
  • All-Loving Hero: They love everyone, and only want the best for them. That "best" is becoming a Jellax, of course...
  • Evil Is One Big, Happy Family: An almost literal example; "Evil" is stretching it a lot, but the Jellax do see each other as a species-wide family.
  • Fantastic Racism: The Jellax seek to turn all non-Jellax races, or at least humanoid ones, into Jellax. Of course, this is less out of a belief that they are superior and more because they are helping everyone.
  • Human Alien/ Humanoid Aliens/ Rubber-Forehead Alien / Starfish Alien: The Jellax manages to combine all alien archetypes via their status as slime-based beings. Even though the story Becoming Muck states that Jamanen, and presumably the rest of the Jellax, were able to take on different forms throughout their long lives, they, later on, took humanoid forms and seemingly have never gone back. Even though they can, for all intents and purposes, turn into any form, they have chosen to remain humanoid. Jamanen even describes her humanoid form as "beautiful" in Jellax, implying either she likes her human form the best out of all her forms or that she has gotten so used to being in it she doesn't feel a need to change.
    • There's also the fact that the Jellax view on morality is a combination of Blue-and-Orange Morality and human morality.
  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: Most Jellax are naked, so of course this is going to invoke this trope from female Jellax. Male Jellax are also the same, considering many tend to be very muscular and handsome.
  • Scary Dogmatic Aliens: Even with their good intentions and loving natures, the fact that the Jellax are willing to do whatever it takes to get what they want makes them this.

    Jamanen, the Last Jellax

Queen of the Jellax, self-proclaimed "savior" of mankind, and one of the biggest examples of Ascended Extra to come into fan fiction. Jamanen is more-or-less one of the central characters in the story, but whether she is a hero or villain is left up to the readers, and writers, to decide.

Tropes Associated with Jamanen

  • All-Loving Hero: How she sees herself, and how she is seen by all the Jellax. Of course, whether she's a "hero" or not depends on your interpretation.
  • Ambiguously Evil: Jamanen is taking over the human race... but is doing it because she feels it's for their own good. Considering her influence, it wouldn't be surprising if some of their traits rubbed off on her.
  • Anti Villain: Depending on whether you think she's in the right or not. Jamanen certainly has a good heart but makes a lot of questionable choices that often make people both in- and out-universe see her as a villain. That being said, many of her actions not only have led to her not only bringing people together but even saving lives and stopping terrible events.
  • Ascended Extra: Goes with the territory of being an MOTW in the main series.
  • The Assimilator: Inverted. Jamanen more-or-less puts herself into other people, rather than taking other people into herself.
  • Flanderization: Played with and ultimately inverted. Being a one-shot character meant we never got to see Jamanen's character beyond her episode, so her new views, beliefs, and personality are actually additions to her character.
  • Forgiveness: While not discussed often, this is something Jamanen often shows in the story; she has shown no ill-will to the Senshi for attempting to kill her, has treated the Ayakashi Sister with the utmost respect and even told them she forgave them, never holds a grudge against the Resistance in a specific or collective sense, and even indicates she'll forgive truly terrible people if her children allow them to join.
  • God Save Us from the Queen!: Mostly averted. Jamanen is kind, warm, all-loving, and emphasizes the Jellax being "family" over a "kingdom". Doesn't take away the fact that Jamanen also is a Well-Intentioned Extremist with Fantastic Racism.
  • The High Queen: Jamanen truly takes her position as queen seriously, but is humble, friendly, compassionate, and protective of her people.
  • Hypocrite: Was enslaved by the Black Moon Clan... and after her return, she enslaved the Senshi. She's stopped enslaving now, though this arguably makes it worse.
  • Large Ham: Not always, but there are times when Jamanen's actions and attitudes can get rather hammy. Then again, this is a Sailor Moon Fanfiction; it's to be expected.
    • Overlaps with Evil Is Hammy in Jellax since there her general villainy is parallel to her general overdramatic mannerisms.
  • Last of Her Kind: Downplayed. She's technically the last of the "original Jellax" who lived before the rise of the Black Moon Clan. That being said, she now is helping to bring her race back, and so, therefore, can be considered the progenitor of the "New Jellax".
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's a nearly naked slime lady, what did you expect? That being said, it is more of a case that she's an Innocent Fanservice Girl, considering how she doesn't make a big deal about being naked and all the Jellax are the same.
  • Nice Girl: If the other tropes don't convince you, Jamanen as a whole is very friendly, approachable, social, and empathetic. According to some of the backstory, and to Word of God, this was a trait of the original Jellax race.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: Even though in regards the original anime, she wasn't harmless to begin with, Jamanen has been promoted from a simple minion to a leader who is dangerous enough to match the likes of Queen Beryl or Nehellenia. Even worse, Jamanen seems to be more-or-less winning!
  • Stepford Smiler: Downplayed. Usually, her happiness and joy are genuine, but there are indications that she isn't perfectly happy all the time and might still be mourning not just the loss of her race, but her fellow Droids.
  • Tragic Villain: As with many of the tropes associated with her, "villain" is stretching it, but she does have good reasons for doing what she's doing, has to go through a terrible loss, and one semi-canon story even implies she misses the other droids and feels guilty she couldn't save them.
  • Utopia Justifies the Means: She certainly thinks so.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Perhaps the best way to describe her; Jamanen truly means well, and is indeed helping out many, but is so caught in her own world she doesn't realize that she is taking away human dignity and freedom of choice.
  • The Woobie: Her backstory is incredibly sad when you get to know it, and even in more recent stories a few of them show a side to her that indicates she isn't happy all the time.
  • Yandere: Jamanen can appear as this, albeit in a different way; Jamanen more wants people to just be happy with her, but due to her current thoughts and philosophies is unwilling to consider they could be happy as humans, even if they still remain in relationship with the Jellax.

    The Jellax Guardians
The former Sailor Senshi, the Guardians are the first people to be converted by Jamanen and now serve her loyally. Despite having lost much of their original selves as Jellax, they still retain much of their heroic natures and loving personalities—albeit now, it's for their new family.
  • Beautiful Slave Girl: Even though the story doesn't make too much discussion over it, and even when it does there's no sexual context, the Guardians are indeed beautiful. And they have lost their free will.
  • Happiness in Slavery: They certainly are. Though there is an implication this is from Jamanen rewiring their minds than a natural, conscious love of being controlled by her.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Like all Jellax, they only wear a bowtie and occasionally another accessory or two.
  • Nice Girl: If they were nice as humans, they'll be even nicer as Jellax. If they weren't nice... they'll still be nicer as Jellax. Of course, "nice" doesn't mean "pro-human" either...
  • One-Gender Race: Not a "race" per se, but since only women can be Sailor Senshi, this means that all the guardians are female.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Like all the Jellax, they seek to help elevate humankind, but won't take "no" for an answer.
