Titular Pair

    Shared Tropes
The titular disgraced Witch and Crossdressing Princess.

  • Battle Couple: Ciel and Evris are proving to have this capability within the first three chapters.
    • In the first chapter Ciel easily defeats Mark in a duel, and when Mark tries to renege on the terms of the duel, Evris uses her dark magic to force him to back off.
    • In the second chapter, Ciel and Evris are able to handle the thief incident.
    • In the third chapter, Ciel trusted Evris to handle the horse that was going wild in the party.
  • First Kiss: Their first kiss is initiated by Evris of all people when she interrupts a forced marriage interview between Ciel and another noble her parents attempt to force her to marry. She tells Ciel to take responsibility for choosing her.
  • Masculine–Feminine Gay Couple: Due to Ciel needing to be the crossdressing prince, she is the masculine to Evris’ feminine. This dynamic is further emphasized by Ciel protectively holding Evris after she prevents her father from killing her fiancé.
  • Nice to the Waiter:
    • Ciel is shown to be curtious towards those of a lesser noble position, and she treats her servants rather well.
    • When Evris was living with the Bradely house, apparently the servants there treated her rather poorly due to her being the daughter of a mistress. Evris is shown to get along with the servants in the Alphard Empire when she moves in with Ciel.
  • One Head Taller: When walking side-by-side in Chapter Two, it becomes apparent that Ciel is taller than Evris by about a head.
  • Youngest Child Wins: The titular witch and cross-dressing princess are both this, but they think to the contrary.
    • Evris wouldn't think she is, but unlike her other siblings, she gained unique dark powers. However, between Evris' power and her kind nature, it attracts the attention of Ciel who decides to propose to Evris which elevates her to a position far above her father or her siblings.
    • Ciel was the younger of the twins, and she was the one gifted with light magic rather than her brother. Her power will apparently allow her to become one of the more powerful rulers the Empire has seen.

    Evris Bradley
The titular 'disgraced witch' only given that title due to her inheriting dark magic rather than wind magic.

  • Damsel in Distress: After the king has his guards capture her, she is tied up. While Evris is able to break free of her bonds and match the King’s magic with her own, she stood no chance against him physically, and Ciel needed to save her.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Evris has dark magic, but she is not an evil person. Additionally, Ciel outright states that people have a micconception that dark magic leads to curses, but it isn't true since she has witnessed Evris use her dark magic to help people.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Chapter One showcases Evris how she is willing to use her dark magic to help people in trouble regardless of what the public thinks of her, and she's surprised someone actually thanks her for her assistance. She also indicates she helped because she saw it as her duty as a noble to help others, and she doesn't ask for a reward.
  • Heroic Bastard: Evris was born out of wedlock between her father and a commoner, and she decides to use her dark magic to help people.
  • Power Perversion Potential: In Chapter 9, she is capable of using her dark powers to playfully tie up Ciel's wrists.

    Ciel
The titular 'Cross Dressing Princess'.

  • The Atoner: Ciel blames herself for her brother not inheriting Light Magic himself which led to his subsequent banishment by their parents.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Ciel isn't so much of a moron as she is ditzy. In her crossdresser disguise, she quickly dispatches Mark in a duel with little effort. Additionally, when she inherited Light Magic as a child, it was deemed that she had the potential of being one of the most powerful rulers ever.
  • Rescue Romance:
    • Her engagement to Evris begins with her saving Evris from being forced into Prince Mark’s servitude.
    • In Chapter 7, she protects Evris from being cutdown by her own father.
  • Tears of Joy: Ciel experiences this Evris kisses her in Chapter 5.

Alphard Empire

    Emperor & Empress
They are Ciel's parents, and they are officially introduced to Evris as Ciel's fiancé in Chapter 3.

  • Archnemesis Dad: He attempts to cut down Evris only to be stopped by his daughter Ciel.
  • The Cameo: Their first appearance amounts to this as they barely have one line each before the party is interrupted by a horse gone wild. The receive a proper introduction in Chapter 5.

    Margaret
She is Ciel's personal maid who is aware of

  • Ms. Exposition: She acts as this for Evris when as she informs Evris regarding Ciel's backstory.
  • Secret-Keeper: She is one of several people allowed to know the truth regarding Ciel's personal and family situation.

Kingdom of Klengel

    Prince Mark
Fifth prince of the Kingdom of Klengel and originally Evris' bethrothed before breaking off his engagement to Evris and taking on Lillian as his new fiancé.

  • Henpecked Husband: Lillian plans on turning him into this, and Evris believes she can do it.
  • Kick the Dog: After attempting to humiliate Evris in public with breaking their betrothal which also puts her in a dire situation regarding her family
  • Royal Brat: Just because he's a prince, he apparently feels quite entitled to anything he wishes.

    Lillian
Evris' childhood friend who betrayed her and caused her engagement to Prince Mark to be broken off.

  • Childhood Friend Romance: Lillian wished to engage in this with Evris, but she didn't even know it was an option until she found out that 'Prince Ciel' was actually a woman.

    House of Bradley
The noble house Evris originally belonged to, and they considered her beneath them due to her being an illegitimate child.

  • Big Brother Bully: Ciel's older brother and two older sisters are quick to bully her after her engagement is broken. Ciel is apparently used to this treatment due to being born from a concubine rather than her father’s legal wife.
  • Parental Favortism: Ciel's father makes it no secret that he favors his son and two other daughters over Evris, and he outright calls her a failure due to Mark breaking off their engagement even though Evris couldn't do anything to prevent it.
