The Deed
Arran Bruce
The playable character.- Karma Houdini: If you-playing-as-Arran are successful in either framing another culprit or making it look like suicide, Arran will become this although in a slight subversion, while he gets the house, he's left alone and haunted by nightmares.
- The Unfavorite: Arran was always this to his parents as a child, to the point where his sister killed his pet rat and didn't receive any punishment.
- Villain Protagonist: Arran is premeditating Jennifer's murder from the get-go.
Jennifer Bruce
Arran's deranged sister.- The Caligula: If she's allowed to inherit. Preventing her from becoming this trope is the main goal of the game.
- Karma Houdini: Was this as a child, as she killed Arran's pet rat and received no consequences. Part of why Arran is motivated to kill her is so she will no longer be one.
- Spoiled Brat: To incredible extremes.
- Verbal Tic: Jennifer is inordinately fond of referring to her brother as a "rat".
Malcolm Bruce
The father of Arran and Jennifer.- Abusive Parents: He used to beat Arran with a tawse as a child, had incredibly demanding standards, and kept trying to push Arran to do what Malcolm thought was Arran's duty.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: He loses his temper frequently, and in fact, if you choose to frame him as the culprit, you can bring up his temper to the Inspector to make him more suspicious.
- Offing the Offspring: You can frame Malcolm and make it look like he did this to Jennifer.
Gloria Bruce
Arran and Jennifer's mother.- Abusive Parents: Not to the same extent as Malcolm, as she's never physically abusive, but she spoiled Jennifer and favored her over Arran, and she constantly tries to push Arran to be more civil to Malcolm and Jennifer even though the latter two are awful to Arran.
- Offing the Offspring: You can frame Gloria and make it look like she did this to Jennifer.
- Stepford Smiler: She does have a bit of trouble with the "smile" part while her son is around, though. Also, if you choose Gloria to frame as the culprit, you can tell the Inspector that Gloria's stepford smiler facade was hiding inner turmoil over Jennifer's condition.
Sofia
The maid.The Butler
The butler.- The Butler Did It: He didn't, of course, but you can make it look like he did if you choose him to frame as the culprit.

Eight years later, while on a trip to Paris, he coincidentally crosses paths with one of his tormentors and decides to enact vengeance.- Villain Protagonist: From his perspective, he's trying to Pay Evil unto Evil, but he can still get an innocent person accused for his crime.
Frank Graceman
Kenneth's target, formerly an abusive orderly at the asylum Kenneth was committed to.- Bondage Is Bad: Frank's favorite haunt, which Kenneth spots him entering, is a brothel that caters to sadomasochistic fantasies.
