The Heroes

    Lucas and Lucario

Lucas

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lucas_hope_c_4.png
I...I'm not useless?

The Hero of the story, he starts off as a Normal Kid living an everyday life with his best friend Ness, albeit he has Psychic Powers. One day everything changes for him when Ganondorf and Silver arrive in his hometown and beat him and Ness into submission, and kidnap his friend. He then meets Lucario, the original being from which Silver was created, who explains the situation to him, and he resolves to go on a journey with Lucario to save Ness and bring him back home.

  • Big Damn Heroes: He actually pulls this off to a degree when Zelda and Lucario are assaulted by Ganon, though it's very short lived as Ganon quickly traps everyone with his magic. Captain Falcon then creates his own Big Damn Heroes moment to bail Lucas and co. out.
  • Combat Medic: His abilities to heal himself or others’ wounds is the main reason he’s able to convince Lucario to let him join him on the search to find Silver.
  • Character Development: He starts off as a weak kid who ends up being more of a burden to Lucario than a useful asset, and this continues for awhile. But as time goes on he gains some new skills through his fighting, and learns how to be more confident in himself, despite his flaws. He eventually unlocks his true potential and gains the strength to fight on equal terms with his friends, and with his quick thinking, helps Lucario defeat Silver once and for all.
  • Classical Anti-Hero: Lucas suffers from a lack of self confidence in his own strength, which only grows the more and more he loses his fights and fails to be useful to Lucario in the way he believes he should be. He’s not the strongest fighter by any means, and sometimes he gives in to his pain and gives up, such as when he gave Jeff’s rocket to Porky when getting beat up, or when he begs Bowser to let him live after getting utterly defeated by him. That being said, despite how cynical he can get about himself, he recognizes his lack of strength and works hard to overcome it at every chance he gets. He never loses his faith in others, his friends, and knows how important trust and allies truly are, always working to help Lucario realize that.
  • A Friend in Need: This is pretty much Lucas’s main motivation for why he goes on this journey. It’s all to rescue his best friend Ness, who Lucas wants to repay his debt to for bettering his life and himself as a person.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Lucas is a very kind, mild-mannered boy who willingly risks his life for Lucario and others multiple times without a second thought for himself. He’s sensitive and tries to believe the best in others before seeing the bad.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Does this to let Lucario be able to kill Silver once and for all. He does get revived alongside the other souls that Silver absorbs in the ending.
  • Heroic Second Wind: Has one during the fight between him, Lucario and Bowser in Fox's ship. He and Lucario are getting crushed in Bowser's hands, and just as it seems like they both might die, Lucas reaches deep within his heart and unleashes PK Love on pure instinct, getting the first taste of his true power and sending Bowser flying out of the airship.
  • Jumped at the Call: While he’s initially hesitant to fight Ganon and Silver when they first show up, he doesn’t take much time to think about his choice before asking Lucario to join him on this dangerous adventure if it means saving Ness.
  • Limit Break: He achieves this when he unlocks the Door to his Aura/Soul during the final battle, and uses it to cross dimensions and saves Lucario from death.
  • The Load: He is this at first to Lucario, which ends up becoming one of the focal points of Lucas' Character Development.
  • Magikarp Power: Goes from being the weakest character in the cast to becoming the strongest hero alongside Lucario.
  • Unlikely Hero: Compared to his brother Claus or Ness, you wouldn't think someone with as low self esteem and his sensitive demeanor would be the true protagonist of this story.
  • Signature Move: Midway through the story, Lucas taps into his true potential and re-learns PK Love, which proves to be very effective against Bowser and blows a hole in the airship, allowing him and Lucario to escape.
  • Telepathy: Learns this towards the end of the story as he tries to master it with Lucario’s advice, using it to properly thank Pikachu for his help to him emotionally, and in becoming stronger physically.
  • Took a Level in Badass: He starts off the story not being the best at using his PSI and fighting, but by the end he becomes the strongest hero along side Lucario.

Lucario

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lucario_calm_a_1.png
This is My Responsibility.

The Deuteragonist of the story, Lucario is out on his own journey to hunt down and kill Silver, who was created from him by Ganondorf. He believes that all the horrible things Silver does and the people he hurts are all his responsibility, and works hard to end his Crisis as quickly as possible. He's very cynical and prefers to work alone and not involve anyone else, hesitant to even bring Lucas along due to this mentality.

  • Aura Vision: Can sense the Aura’s/Life Force of others as most Lucario’s can.
  • Color-Coded Emotions: In Chapter 9, Lucario falls into a Heroic BSoD, where he is confronted by his various facets and personalities within himself. These emotions are all colored differently, such as Anger being red, Patience being White, Happiness being Yellow, etc.
  • The Cynic: Has a generally pessimistic outlook on humans and how they act, going as far as to isolate himself from them for over 10 years after being betrayed and abandoned by his own Trainer.
  • It's All My Fault: Feels this way about Silver’s creation, despite the fact that it's Ganondorf's fault he exists, and Lucario couldn’t have done anything to stop him from using him to do so. Because of this, he feels responsible for the evils he commits, which is part of why he allows Lucas to journey with him, as Ness' kidnapping falls under this.
  • Ineffectual Loner: While Lucario is very strong and can handle most fights by himself, he’s unable to defeat Silver and his overwhelming power time and time again. It takes a particularly bad beating from Silver, and a Heroic BSoD to get him to realize that he needs to put his trust in Lucas and other people in order to defeat him and save the world. In the end, it’s the trust between Lucas and Lucario that allows Lucario the opportunity to strike Silver down where it wouldn’t have been possible alone, proving this point.
  • I Can't Do This by Myself: Pretty much says this to Lucas when he’s being consumed by the rage of his Aura, telling him how he’s helped him through so much that he couldn’t do alone, and wants him by his side for the rest of his journey.
  • Kid Hero: He’s actually about 16 years old, despite his maturity being well above that age.
  • Limit Break: He unlocks his during his intense 10 months of training with his mentor, Medicham. It takes until his Roaring Rampage of Revenge for him to fully unlock his Mega Evolution however, and he purposefully keeps this power locked away in the present. During the final battle, after he stabbed Silver with Lucas' hidden Silver Arrow, he transforms into his Mega Evolution in order to deal the final blow.
  • Meaningful Rename:
    • The reason why he ditched his old name, "Laiyu," which was given to him by his old trainer, Lucas. Lucario wanted to isolate himself from others after losing faith in humanity when he was betrayed by his former trainer that he dedicated his life to, where he then only goes by his species' name, Lucario.
    • After the final battle, Lucario decides he should take up a new name instead of just "Lucario" to indicate his fresh start. Lucas suggests that he names himself "Railuco", which is an anagram of his species name, just like how Lucas' name is an anagram of Claus. While Lucas tries laughing it off, Lucario thinks it's a good name, and chooses to go by it, with the visual novel's UI even changing to it as well.
  • Psychic Powers: While he explicitly states he is not actually Psychic (which is true, he’s a Steel/Fighting Type Pokemon), he has what he calls “Psuedo-Psychic Abilities”, which allow him to sense the Aura’s of others (their life force/souls), as well as how he telepathically communicates with others to talk instead of actually using words.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: After finding out his trainer had changed into a Might Makes Right asshole like Phaze, who doesn’t even recognize him despite being his partner for years, Lucario to flies into rage. This ends up opening the door to his Aura and transforms him into his Mega Evolution, attacking all humans and Pokemon in sight. He eventually is calmed down by his master before he can commit to doing anything rash, and while he managed to injure a ton of Pokemon and people, he didn't kill anyone, thankfully. This incident however leads to his path of exile, where he isolates himself for six years before the events of the visual novel.
    • Seems to succumb to another one when Silver kills Lucas right in front of him, but it turns out to be a fake-out to lure Silver into a false sense of security, and he uses this chance to stab Silver with a Silver Arrow.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Initially sees Lucas as nothing but a burden, and does not consider him a friend at all, saying they're only in a temporary partnership. But as time goes on, he sees Lucas grow and how kind he is to him and others, as well as how much he puts himself in harms way for him. He learns from Lucas how important it is to trust in others, and to have friends, as well as learning to having faith in humanity again.
  • Training from Hell: Put himself through an entire year of this with his Mentor Medicham to attain the immense power he currently holds in the present.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Believes himself to be this. Had he tried harder to support his trainer in the past, then it would have been possible that he wouldn't harbor the feelings that would have inadvertently lead to Silver's creation by Ganondorf's hands, and cause the entire plot of the visual novel to begin with.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: He’s actually about 16 years old, despite constantly displaying maturity being well above that age. This is likely due to him being abandoned by his trainer to fend for himself in the wilderness, and then becoming disillusioned in humanity and the world due to seeing the corruption of his trainer, and then spending 10 years isolated from the rest of the world with his own thoughts.

    The Other Heroes

Ness

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ness_cool.png

We psychics have this special sense for finding pretty girls.

Lucas's best friend.

  • The Ace: Is considered to be this by the kids in Lucas’s world, and especially this by Lucas himself, as he brings up his incredible skills over and over again. He’s been a natural Psychic since he was a baby so it comes easy to him, he can hold his own in most fights, he beats back Porky the bully in Lucas’s flashback without much trouble, and even is able to teach most of the other kids how to use their Psychic Powers as well.
  • All Men Are Perverts: He’s known to have the hots for older women like Kumatora, and when Peach says that he has a pure heart, he even admits in his own head that he can have some pretty dirty thoughts concerning romance.
  • Badass in Distress: Spends most of the story trapped in Silver’s Base, despite being a powerful psychic who can hold his own very well against anyone else. Justified, as Ganondorf and Silver are more or less of overwhelmingly powerful godlike strength and can’t be harmed easily as a result, and Ness is subsequently sapped of his Psychic Powers shortly after being kidnapped.
  • Irony: By the end of the story, Ness ends up being the one powerless to help, and Lucas is the one whose able to hold his own against the villains, with him being the one to play an instrumental role in Silver’s Defeat.

Claus

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/claus_angry_b.png

You've grown Lucas. Let's just hope you don't regret that decision.

Lucas's twin brother.

  • Big Brother Instinct: While he’s not going out of his way to be a good role model for Lucas, you’d better not try to bully or hurt Lucas, or he will make you regret it.
  • Berserker Tears: Has these when Lucario breaks the news to him that Lucas is dead, and he attacks Lucario in rage while crying, telling him to bring him back.
  • Limit Break: When his Rope Snake, Scopes, mentally syncs with him, their combined power allows him to do Psychic Attacks to the level of Gamma, which not even Ness has attained yet.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Red to Lucas’s Blue. He’s more hotheaded, quick to action and fighting without much hesitation, and can take care of himself in a fight very easily.
  • Twin Telepathy: Though not in the usual sense, it can be taken literally, as both he and Lucas are Psychic Twins.

Ike

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ike_fight_b.png

You've grown Lucas. Let's just hope you don't regret that decision.
The Leader of the Greil Mercenaries, and temporary leader of Marth's army as well. Marth became a comrade in arms to him during the brief time they spent travelling together, and he took it upon himself to lead his men and try to avenge Marth after he was kidnapped by Silver.
  • Bag of Spilling: It's stated that his last adventure before Silver Crisis was Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, where he gave his personal sword, Ragnell, back to Apostle Sanaki. As a result, he has a regular sword during Silver Crisis. He notes that due to Ragnell's holy properties (being blessed by the goddess Ashera from his home universe), he would have been able to use it to hurt Silver, just like Pit was able to using his light arrows provided by Palutena.
  • A Father to His Men: Concerning the Greil Mercenaries from his own game, they follow him out of respect for him and his kindness.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: He demonstrates this when his courage and will to fight in Marth’s memory manages to enhance his Aura to high levels that let his words and feelings reach his army. This moralizes them to keep fighting and not give up, and they win the day.

Pit

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pit_fight_b.png

You've grown Lucas. Let's just hope you don't regret that decision.
The Captain of Lady Palutena's guard.
  • Big Eater: Pit has a big appetite for many things, which Palutena lampshades a couple times.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: True to his original games, Pit lampshades some tropes and cliches about the situation he’s in when talking with Palutena. For example, he and Palutena have banter about how cliche it’d be for Silver to be named after the color of his fur, and nearly make a bet on it before Pit decides he doesn't want to stake what food he has to eat for a year.
  • Holy Burns Evil: Due to his arrows being blessed by the goddess of light, Palutena, he is able to hurt Silver, Ganondorf, and the robot clones that are infused with their dark magic. During the final battle, he notes he doesn't need Zelda's power of the goddesses to defeat their dark clones, giving it to Samus to destroy hers.
  • Light Is Good: He's an angel with white clothing who is a servant to the Goddess of Light.

Sonic

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sonic_happy_b.png

You've grown Lucas. Let's just hope you don't regret that decision.
The Fastest Thing Alive.
  • Kid Hero: Like Lucario, he's 16 years old too. Lucario and Lucas note that his maturity perfectly fits that age.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: Becomes Dark Sonic through the use of the corrupted chaos emeralds. Also doubles out as a Shout-Out to Sonic X as he uses it when he sees his friends Lucas and Lucario getting beat up badly by Silver in the fight at the ruins.

Captain Falcon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cfalcon_smym_b.png

You've grown Lucas. Let's just hope you don't regret that decision.
A wandering warrior with fire powers who mysteriously came to help Lucas.
  • Big Damn Heroes: He pretty much embodies this trope. In his first appearance he saves Lucas's life, and says that whenever Lucas is in trouble, he can just call on him mentally to come in and save the day.
  • Lightning Bruiser: He’s incredibly fast, and is so strong that he was able to destroy Ganondorf’s physical form despite being a normal mortal, though it wasn’t enough to kill him due to Ganondorf only being able to be killed by weapons of the gods.

Link

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/link_calm_a.png
I am not allowed to succumb to fear.
The Hero of Courage.
  • Dying Dream: He has a dream about being killed by Dark Link, presumably due to the Triforce of Courage trying to warn him in advance.

Zelda

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zelda_calm_b.png
I am not allowed to succumb to fear.
The Princess of Hyrule who has the Triforce of Wisdom.
  • Light 'em Up: With her signature Light Arrows, she uses them in the final battle to help end the fight once and for all, along with passing the goddess' light around to the other heroes.
  • Poor Communication Kills: She has a vision of Link being killed by Dark Link and avoids telling Link to try and prevent him from getting involved in the action to help protect him. However, she avoids him while he tries to talk to her because he wanted to talk about that dream and try to prevent it, which ends up nearly getting Link killed because she wouldn’t confront him.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Instead of letting Link do all the work as the Hero of Time, she also fights against the ROB threat with her magic, as well as her alter-ego form, Sheik. She even tries fighting off Ganondorf himself at one point to prevent him from finding Link.

Mario

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mario_fight_a.png
The hero of the Mushroom Kingdom, who gets involved in the adventure to stop Bowser and save the kidnapped Princess Peach.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Due to a misunderstanding, Mario and Luigi believe that Lucario and Lucas were the ones responsible for kidnapping Princess Peach, and immediately attack them.
  • Sacrificial Lion: He gets absorbed by Silver in an attempt to buy the heroes time and make their escape. His absorption significantly raises the stakes, as he was one of the first characters that Lucas and Lucario met in their multiversal journey, and his disappearance demoralizes his brother, Luigi, to such a degree.

Luigi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/luigi_calm_a.png
Mario's brother, whose heroics he lives in the shadow of. As cowardly as he is, he journeys alongside his brother to save the world.
  • Cowardly Lion: Like in his home series, he is consistently scared of the dangers they face. When push comes to shove however, especially right before the battle with Giga Bowser, he will step up to the plate in order to do the right thing.
  • The Glomp: Luigi gives one to Peach and Mario once the final battle is over, happy to see his brother and friend alive again after both of them were absorbed by Silver.

Pikachu

Fire-boy is friend.
A electric mouse Pokemon who Lucas meets on his adventure and who takes a liking to him.

ROB

I am not allowed to succumb to fear.
The main ROB unit of Silver's team who he eventually decides to dispose of, and later becomes the subservient owner of Ness.

The Villains

    Silver (Unmarked Spoilers)

Silver

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/silver_absorb_a.png
I am not allowed to succumb to fear.
The Big Bad of the story.
  • Achilles' Heel: Since he was made from Ganondorf's dark magic, he also shares the same weakness as his creator; weapons that are blessed by a goddess, such as light arrows. He exploits this against Ganondorf, where he defeats him using a Silver arrow, but is ultimately done in by his own weapon at the climax thanks to Lucas and Lucario's efforts.
  • Batman Gambit: He's able to manipulate Ganondorf and ultimately kill and absorb him by using his lust for the power of the Goddess Din's Aura against him to trick him into letting the heroes live another day and letting him take charge.
  • Enemy Without: Of Lucario, where he was split off from the Pokemon and embodied his worst traits thanks to Ganondorf's dark magic.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: He created a silver arrow in order to weaken Ganondorf, absorb his aura, and become a Physical God. This arrow is then used against him during the final battle, thanks to Lucas hiding it within Lucario's tail, and Lucario faking his anger in order to let Silver get close enough to get stabbed by it.
  • A God Am I: He states this numerous times, and this trope fits his personality like a glove.
  • Powered by a Forsaken Child: He's able to reach the power of a God and become nigh unstoppable by absorbing the Goddess Din's Aura that resided within Ness, and this nearly kills him in the process.
  • Psychic Powers: As he is part of Lucario, he has the same Psuedo Psychic Abilities as his original self with being able to telepathically communicate and sense the Aura of others. However, he also has the unique ability of being able to absorb the Aura’s of others, and mold it in certain ways to create things such as the Robots in his army that are made of multiple fractured Human Souls/Auras.
  • Soul Eating: Pretty much does this anytime he absorbs the Aura of another person, which he does to strengthen himself and become strong enough to overpower the heroes, including his original self.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: The reason he believes so fervently in his Might Makes Right mentality and wants to destroy the world is because of Lucario's hatred for humanity and his past of being betrayed by his mentor who fell to the same mentality. He embodies those traits of Lucario so wholeheartedly that it makes him desire to want to destroy the world in retaliation for the pain he (and his original self) experienced from the world.

    Ganondorf

Ganondorf

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ganon_fold_a.png
I am not allowed to succumb to fear.
The Creator of Silver and the one who masterminded the events behind the story.
  • Achilles' Heel: Like past incarnations of Ganondorf, he is weak to weapons blessed by a goddess, like the light/silver arrows. He is first harmed by Pit's light arrows, which catches everyone by surprise, but gives the heroes an opening. His weakness to the Silver arrows is what does him in, with Silver firing one at his chest and ultimately killing him to steal his aura.
  • A God Am I: Even moreso than Silver he exudes this personality, and quotes the name of this trope word for word often. He’s overly confident in his power and will make sure the heroes know how powerless they are everytime he fights them.
  • Irony: He’s absorbed by the being he created himself in the end, after being played because he knows only Silver can access the power of Goddess Din that he desired.

    Bowser

Bowser

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bowser_fight.png
I am not allowed to succumb to fear.
The Koopa King.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: He becomes this before the final battle with Silver and Ganondorf, where he's transformed into Giga Bowser to fight against the heroes.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Has a one sided one he wins against Lucas early on in the story, which nearly breaks Lucas’s spirit. He gets his comeuppance in the rematch though.
  • Dumb Muscle: Pretty much the reason why Silver recruited him to do his dirty work; he's brawny and isn’t “smart enough” to go against or manipulate Silver’s plan to his own needs.
  • Evil Gloating: Does a lot of this to Lucas and the others when he’s winning.

    Wolf

Wolf

And you’re just as gullible. You actually thought I’d help YOU? Hah! Who do you think I am?
A mercenary who works with the other villains who hails from Fox's world.
  • The Mole: Was the one who tried gathering intel for Fox and Falco, but had immediately backstabbed them to join Silver. It goes incredibly poorly by the end.
  • Rewarded as a Traitor Deserves: Tries to double cross Silver after he already double crossed Fox’s group, and is then captured by him and has his Aura absorbed by Silver for his betrayal. He does get revived in the end by the Goddesses’ power, but is shortly incapacitated by Fox and Falco immediately afterwards as a precaution against his shady nature.

Other Characters

    Lucas and Ness' Friends

Rope Snake

It’s not Roper! It’s Rope Snake! Why can you never get my name right?! It’s not even that long of a name to say! Rope - Snake. Rope Snake!
Lucas' snake companion.
  • Snakes Are Sinister: An aversion, he's actually friendly to Lucas and his friends, though a bit snippy.

Paula

Just because I’m a girl doesn’t mean I need you to take care of me!
The Princess of Hyrule who has the Triforce of Wisdom.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: While she’s a nice, well mannered girl most of the time, do not piss her off. You will regret it.
  • Light 'em Up: Does this to Pokey after he pushes her down and tries to attack Lucas. He sets him on fire so many times to the point where he passes out.

Poo

I see I still have much more to learn.
The Princess of Hyrule who has the Triforce of Wisdom.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Trains himself daily in the Martial Arts.
  • Chick Magnet: Is said to be this by Paula, as people like his serious attitude and martial art skills.
  • Disappointed in You: While he says he doesn’t hate Lucas when he lets Jeff down, he says he can’t respect Lucas’s decision to let Porky break the bottle rocket Jeff made even if he was being hurt by him.
  • The Stoic: Poo is always very cool, calm and collected. He doesn’t seem phased by much, unless he witnesses something/someone stronger than him. At one point he tries his best to smile to show the others he’s joking, but Lucas can’t tell the difference between that and his normal expressions.
  • To Be a Master: Poo seemingly wants to become this with his fighting technique, often sparring with Kumatora as she (and Claus) is the strongest one in town prior to Ness showing up.

Jeff

And you’re just as gullible. You actually thought I’d help YOU? Hah! Who do you think I am?
The Princess of Hyrule who has the Triforce of Wisdom.
  • Badass Normal: While he doesn’t have the potential to use PSI like the other kids, he shows he can make up for it when he uses a Cannon he made to set Porky on fire after he bullied Paula and Lucas.
  • BFG: The aforementioned Cannon he uses against Porky definitely qualifies as this.
  • Stereotypical Nerd: He's got the look, with his thick Nerd Glasses, suit and bowtie, and bowl cut. And he's a Gadgeteer Genius to boot, making his own bottle rockets (which he won the science fair with) and creating a cannon that can set people on fire if need be.

Kumatora

Whatever.
The Princess of Hyrule who has the Triforce of Wisdom.
  • Tomboy: Just like in her original game, Kumatora takes no crap, doesn’t care for girl-y things and will punch your face in if you get on her nerves too much.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Despite not seeming to train much like Poo, she’s still shown to be stronger than him and he trains with her in the hopes of reaching her (And Claus’s) level.

Pokey (Porky)

How’s my favorite punching bag and his worthless watch dog doing?
The Bully from Lucas’s home time that used to antagonize him all the time, and is a kid no one likes. (Everyone nicknames him Porky.)
  • Psychic Powers: Surprisingly enough, he also has them, and unlocks them through the shock of being burned to the point of fainting by Paula. But ironically, his are the weakest out of any of the kids in Lucas’s hometown.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Pushes Paula to the ground after she calls him “Porky” when she refuses to accept his request to become his girlfriend. Needless to say, she does not take that lying down.

Spoiler Characters (All Spoilers Will Be Unmarked)

    Lucario's Original Trainer

Lucas

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dlucas_battle_g.png
And you’re just as gullible. You actually thought I’d help YOU? Hah! Who do you think I am?
Lucario's original trainer, who decided to go that they should go their separate ways after a series of repeated losses.
  • Broken Ace: Became the champion of the Sinnoh League, thanks to his bond with Lucario that helped him get past Cynthia. After repeated losses to Phaze and the Sinnoh Battle Tower, he releases his Lucario, and goes on to take on the other regional leagues. Unfortunately, while he ends up winning at all of them and has a team that is incredibly powerful, his warped perspective after his losses have turned him into a trainer who has forsaken his bonds with his Pokemon in the pursuit of victory and power.
  • Broken Pedestal: As "Laiyu," Lucario originally looked up and trained his body and aura so that he could reunite with his trainer. Once he saw that Lucas had turned into a heartless trainer who regularly abused his Pokemon, he couldn't believe his eyes. The bond between them had drifted so far apart that Lucas doesn't recognize Laiyu after a year, and he already got a new Lucario to replace him. This is the final straw that pushes Lucario over the edge and try to kill Lucas.
  • Fallen Hero: Was originally a kind-hearted Trainer who believed that the bond between Pokemon and Trainer and their feelings of righteousness was what made him and Lucario strong, and that that was all they needed. But after failing over and over with Lucario in the Tower battles, he goes his separate ways from Lucario, and when he returns, he’s come back with the mindset that only strength matters and nothing else, overtraining his Pokemon to the point where they become more or less soulless, embracing the mindset of people like Team Galactic that he once fought against.
  • Might Makes Right: After his loss to Phaze and repeated defeats at Sinnoh's Battle Tower, he adopts this mentality and lets it corrupt him into a horrible person.
  • Nice Guy: Was originally this, where he'd work hard to become the best trainer he could be and fought against Team Galactic to bring them to justice for all the atrocities they'd create.
  • The Power of Friendship: He wholeheartedly believed in this concept, that the bond between trainers was enough to carry him through anything and any battle and win it, until he arrived at the battle tower.
  • Significant Name Overlap: Lucario's original trainer's name was Lucas. After the Pokemon was abandoned, he would eventually run into another young boy named Lucas, and form a bond with him just as he did with his former trainer.
  • Took a Level in Cynic: After a devastating loss against Phaze, Lucas would try to clear Sinnoh's Battle Tower multiple times. After a series of losses, he would release Lucario into the wild and adopt a new Might Makes Right philosophy. This change irrevocably breaks the bond between him and Lucario forever.
  • Walking Spoiler: His whole existence is the catalyst for why Lucario and Silver are the way they are in the present day.

    Lucario's Master

Medicham

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cham_fight_a.png
Don't be blinded by the limitations you see; trust in your powers and continue your training. When the time is right, you will find the answer to your true self.
Lucario's old mentor, who lived in a Forest that Lucario stumbled upon when his trainer abandoned him. Medicham then trained him for a year to become as strong as he is now.
  • Career-Ending Injury: What his blindness was perceived as by his original trainer. While Medicham was a strong Pokemon in battle, his blindness eventually started causing him injuries in battle, to the point he could no longer see. Deemed as only a prize for collectors, his original trainer decided the best thing was to release him into the wild, still blind. Eventually, Medicham would work within these limitations to survive and unlock his Mega Evolution.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Medicham actually makes an appearance in an earlier chapter, where he is thrown in front of Silver and is about to fight him. This is a standout since he is a character that wasn't present in the originial, and his reaction to Silver suggests something the audience isn't aware of yet. His full role in the plot isn't detailed until much later in Chapter 13.
  • Disability Superpower: Medicham admits that after he lost his sight, he erased all memories of the sights he saw with his trainer any anything he ever saw with his own eyes so he could adjust to being blind and fight effectively while in this state. After doing this, he was able to open the door to his Aura and enter it, becoming as powerful as he is in the present day.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": After Medicham lost his sight, he erased all memories he had of his past life, including his old nickname. In the present day, he goes by his species' name, Medicham, though Lucario insists on calling him "Master Cham" during their training.
  • Limit Break: Like Lucario, he has a Mega Evolution that he obtained through the power of training his mind and body.
  • The Mentor: To Lucario, and was the one who taught him how to tap into his full potential.
  • Walking Spoiler: His role in Lucario's path is a big spoiler that doesn't get explained until near the very end of the visual novel.

    The Three Hylian Goddesses

Din

And you’re just as gullible. You actually thought I’d help YOU? Hah! Who do you think I am?
The Princess of Hyrule who has the Triforce of Wisdom.
  • Hijacked by Ganon: After Ganondorf's death, she met his spirit in the realm between and made a deal with him to merge souls and become a stronger God. However, he was able to take possession of her in the process and forced her to flee into a different person's body so she could regain her strength and control him. However, Ganon thought ahead and found someone who could see other peoples' auras and find Din (Silver), and that's why they kidnapped Ness and took her power to become gods themselves.
  • Walking Spoiler: Her mere existence isn't revealed until the very end, and her involvement kicks off the entire plot of Silver Crisis. She was the one responsible for setting Ganondorf free and her power was the whole reason why Ganondorf needed both Lucario and Ness.

Farore and Nayru

We are the last two Goddesses of the realm of those that bear the Triforce.

  • Deus ex Machina: Once Din commits to using all of her power to destroy the world, the two goddesses come in to save the day by freezing her in place. Both goddesses are also able to restore the states of the absorbed victims and the merged worlds, resetting everything back to what it once was.
  • God Is Good: Two Gods to be exact, as opposed to Din, who was power hungry and to see what would happen once Ganondorf to be set free, Farore and Nayru look to maintain the peace of the world. They assure the remaining heroes that they are on their side after Din's treachery came to light.
