Protagonist
Wukong Impulse Gundam
- Voiced by: Aki Kanada, Shuhei Matsuda (Gouen Form)
- Amnesiac Hero: Doesn't remember much about himself other than his name.
- Artificial Human: Wukong, Wujing, and Bajie were Humanoids created to protect Sanzang and Qiongqi's home planet. Sima Yi used this fact to combine the three into one mind, creating the perfect weapon for his and Qionggi's cause.
- Big Eater: As Zhang Fei notes when seeing the amount of plates at Wukong's table.
- Berserk Button: As demonstrated in episode 2, he'll attack anyone who takes his food.
- Disney Death: He seemingly dies along with Quongqi in Dark Star's destruction, but crash lands near Kingdom World as a baby in the final scenes.
- 11th-Hour Superpower: He becomes Qitian Dasheng Wukong right before killing Qiongqi.
- Fake Memories: A flashback shows him killing Sha Wujing and Zhu Bajie, and Qiongqi guilt-tripping him over it, but it turns out to have just been something false Sima Yi inserted when he fused the three of them together.
- Heroic Sacrifice: He chooses to destroy Dark Star and confront Qiongqi, even if he will die doing so. He gets better.
- Public Domain Character: He is based off of Sun Wukong, the main protagonist of Journey to the West.
- Split Personality: He has two other personalities residing inside of him, Sha Wujing Silhouette and Zhu Bajie Silhouette, who are based on both the Silhouette Packs and Sun Wukong's allies Sha Wujing and Zhu Bajie. They both ended up inside of Wukong after Sima Yi fused them together and gave him false memories so he would believe he fell prey to Etoliation influence and killed them.
- Tyke Bomb: Wukong and the other Humanoids, who all act like children, were created to protect Sanzang's home planet. Sanzang wanted the Humanoids to have hearts and be able to live good lives, but Qiongqi believed violence was the way to go and set about turning Wukong into the ultimate weapon.
Neo World
Sergeant Verde Buster Gundam
- Voiced by: Maxwell Powers
- Ace Custom: Funnily, he invokes the image of one, as the other members of his Verde Buster Gundam Corps look like less-detailed and more-standardized versions of him.
- Artifact Title: Both Sergeant Verde Buster Gundam and his Verde Buster Gundam Corps are based off of the GAT-X103AP Verde Buster Gundam. The reason why it was called āVerde Buster Gundamā is because the mechās body mostly consists of the color green, which is what āVerdeā is Italian for. Sergeant Verde Buster Gundam and the Verde Buster Gundam Corps, however, have mostly black bodies (Amusingly, Sergeantās armaments for Buster Mode keep the original color scheme of the Verde Buster).
- Back for the Finale: He arrives to help the heroes fight Qiongqi.
- By-the-Book Cop: Ever since Wukong Impulse Gundam attacked Captain City, the police force have been working harder in order to keep the citizens safe, with Sergeant saying that protecting the people is his top priority. He also says that that's why he can't help Zhao Yun 00 Gundam with his search for the Haro in Neo World, because for him duty comes first.
- Played With in that he doesn't arrest Zhao Yun 00 Gundam for speeding, but makes it look like he did in front of his fellow police officers before just taking him to a bar while still making it clear that he can't overlook his charges.
- Establishing Character Moment: His first appearance has him order his Verde Buster Gundam Corps to unleash a massive Alpha Strike on Wukong Impulse Gundam Gouen just for the purpose of capturing him and then prepare to kill him once it becomes clear he is too powerful to contain. What seems like a Rabid Cop is established to be far tamer in his next appearance where even after Zhao Yun 00 Gundam accidentally commits several crimes, Sergeant thanks him for his help and lets him off the hook while making it clear that everything he does is for the safety of the citizens.
- Expy: He has similarities to Robocop, being a police officer who also may be a Cyborg (Or at least the SD Gundam World series equivalent of one, since everyone is referred to as "Humans" even though they're all clearly based on mechs. Just roll with it.).
- Gratuitous English: He peppers some English into his speech, which becomes more noticeable thanks to his English accent.
- Hero Antagonist: He temporarily opposes the heroes because he assumes they are a threat to the public of Captain City and need to be contained.
- Jet Pack: Sergeant Verde Buster Gundam has Rocket Boots, which he uses to fly from a street to the top of a building in order to fire Justice Railgun at Wukong Impulse Gundam.
- Odd Name Out: Compared to most of the rest of the cast of SD Gundam World Heroes, Sergeant Verde Buster Gundam is the only one not based on a Public Domain or Historical Domain Character. This is reflected in his name, as "Sergeant" is more a general title for a high-ranking military official rather than a notable name tied to any figure.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Prepares to arrest Zhao Yun 00 Gundam for several charges like speeding and property damage, only to let him off the hook as thanks for helping him.
Arsene Gundam X
- Voiced by: Taiten Kusunoki
- Affably Evil: He may be a thief not above setting up traps for people attempting to capture him, but he's genuinely friendly towards his allies and those looking to work with him.
- Back for the Finale: He arrives to help the heroes fight Qiongqi.
- Gentleman Thief: His top hat and monocle are a clear giveaway.
- Insistent Terminology: He's not a thief, he's a treasure hunter!
- Phantom Thief: Sergeant Verde Buster Gundam has been hunting him for quite some time.
- Public Domain Character: He's a Gentleman Thief based on ArsĆØne Lupin, THE Gentleman Thief by Maurice Leblanc.
Pirate World
Benjamin V2 Gundam
- Voiced by: Naomi Kusumi
- Faceship: He captains a ship that has a Gundam face at the bow.
- Historical Domain Character: Benjamin V2 Gundam is based off of Benjamin Hornigold, who began his pirate career by attacking merchant ships in The Bahamas in 1713, and helped establish the "Republic of Pirates" in Nassau.
- Hook Hand: Benjamin V2 Gundam has a giant one, not as a replacement for his left hand, but a detachable weapon he can use at will.
- Incoming Ham: He introduces himself by slamming his ship onto the whirlpool that the Dark Mask Corps created to trap Sun Jian and Sun Quan, then joyfully says to the two "Long time no see" before letting out a boisterous belly-laugh.
- Signature Laugh: He usually belts out a boisterous bellylaugh, which sounds like "Dooooaaaah-ha-ha-ha!". His official bio says "He has a unique way of laughing."
- Transforming Vehicle: His pirate ship is capable of turning into a submarine.
Edward Second V
- Voiced by: Anri Katsu
- Dreadlock Warrior: Robot Hair dreadlocks at that.
- Historical Domain Character: He is based off of Edward Teach, more popularly known as Blackbeard.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite his demeanor and tendency to tease Sun Quan, he is heroic at heart.
- Shoulder Cannon: Like the mech he's based on, he's got a big one. He can equip his telescope in order to aim with it better.
Anne Bonita
- Voiced by: Akeno Watanabe
- Brainwashed and Crazy: Once she got her hands on Pirate World's Haro, it possessed her and made her kill her entire crew. It then forced her to hide both of them in Almalechal Palace deep with then Demon's Trench, and turned her into a wrathful ghost to haunt it.
- Historical Domain Character: She's loosely based on Anne Bonny. Funnily enough, in the SD Gundam World series she's a legend that Edward Second V and Benjamin V2 Gundam refer to, whereas the real Anne Bonny existed in the same timeframe as Edward Teach and Benjamin Hornigold.
- Posthumous Character: She is long dead, with her spirit haunting the location of Pirate World's Haro.
- Red Baron: In life, she was known as Anne the Ripper due to her pillaging in her search for Haro.
- Reused Character Design: She's one of many characters who reuses the character model of Da Qiao Gundam Artemie.
- She Is the King: Her goal was to become the Pirate King, and she searched for the Haro of Pirate World as a means to this end. She never did accomplished it however, even though she succeeded in getting her hands on the Haro...because the Haro corrupted her.
Apsaras
A giant octopus inhabiting the waters of Pirate World.
- Because You Were Nice to Me: Even though it tried to eat him on numerous occasions, when he finally had the opportunity to kill it Sun Quan Gundam Astray decided not to after seeing that it was a parent with babies. In return for this act of kindness, it saved him and his group when Almalechal Palace was sinking after they got the Haro.
- Bioluminescence Is Cool: It has six glowing pink tentacles as part of the rest of its mechanical-looking body.
- Cyber Cyclops: As with most Zeon-based designs, it has a single pink monoeye.
- Monster Is a Mommy: It turns out to be attacking the gang because it is a mother of three children trying to protect her young.
Musha World
Nobunaga Gundam Epyon
- Voiced by: Ryota Takeuchi
- Back for the Finale: He returns with Sasuke to make an attempt (albeit futile) to stop Dark Star from crashing into the planet.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: He accepts a Dark Mask and his conquest takes a dark turn.
- Demon King Nobunaga: Once again he's an antagonist who wants to conquer not just Musha World in order to end its warring, but the whole world as well.
- Establishing Character Moment: His introductory scene has him brush "Tenkafubu" on a white banner. When his aid Sasuke Delta Gundam asks him about it, Nobunaga explains his intentions and what he just wrote means to him personally.Sasuke Delta Gundam: Lord Nobunaga, what does "Tenkafubu" mean? "Bu", force...does it mean "rule the whole country by force"?Nobunaga Gundam Epyon: Sasuke, that's not what it means. "Bu" means "a power that can settle war". But to me, Nobunaga Gundam Epyon, "Bu" means...to swallow all these battles, and make Musha World mine. Bu is the power that I need in order to achieve this.Sasuke Delta Gundam: Yes.Nobunaga Gundam Epyon: Shingen, Kenshin, Motonari, Katsuyori...I'll send them all to hell IN ONE BLOW! (Throws the dish he was drinking out of) My mind is broader than this, I won't just settle for Musha World! One day, I'll rule the whole world!
- Historical Domain Character: Nobunaga Gundam Epyon is of course based on Oda Nobunaga, the popular warlord known historically as the first of the Three Unifiers of modern Japan.
- Shadow Archetype: As pointed out several times, he resembles Cao Cao during his FaceāHeel Turn, as a Well-Intentioned Extremist trying to end conflict by taking control of everything and getting manipulated by Sima Yi. However, Cao Cao's concern was always protecting his friends and Soshoki showed even Sima Yi feeding him ideas didn't change that, not to mention how he didn't go through with Sima Yi's plan at first and only changed his mind after Xun Yu's death showed him he had to take more extreme measures to protect those he cared about, which Sima Yi's resources were perfect for. Nobunaga on the other hand almost immediately agrees to Sima Yi's terms and the first thing he does upon putting on the Dark Mask is to kill his former ally Mitsuhide and attempt to kill his loyal retainer Sasuke.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: He wishes to stop warfare by conquering the world. Once Sima Yi corrupts him with a Dark Mask however, his conquest becomes far more destructive and self-serving.
Sasuke Delta Gundam
- Voiced by: Katsuyuki Miura
- Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Sarutobi Sasuke never had any proper relation to Oda Nobunaga, mostly due to their differing time periods, with Nobunaga having lived in 1534-to-1582 while Sarutobi first came around the early-1900s. Even the people he is believed to be based on, Kōzuki Sasuke and Sarutobi Nisuke, existed in the Meiji Restoration, about 300 years after Nobunaga's death. Here, Sasuke Delta Gundam is Nobunaga Gundam Epyon's loyal retainer, due to him being attracted by Nobunaga's strength.
- Back for the Finale: He returns with Nobunaga to make an attempt (albeit futile) to stop Dark Star from crashing into the planet.
- Public Domain Character: He is based off of legendary Japanese folktale figure Sarutobi Sasuke.
- Transforming Mecha: He can turn into a fox.
- You Don't Look Like You: While Sasuke Delta Gundam is based off of the MSN-001 Delta Gundam, the latter has a completely golden sheen due to it being the prototype for the MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki, while the former has an overall shade of dark purple instead. Because of this, fans had a hard time figuring out what mech he was based off of before his name was revealed.
Mitsuhide
An underling of Nobunaga Gundam Epyon who often resorts to fortune-telling.
- Historical Domain Character: He's based on Akechi Mitsuhide, a vassal of Nobunaga known historically for betraying and killing him.
- Unwitting Pawn: Sima Yi merely needed him to rebel against Nobunaga so he could convince him to take a Dark Mask. Once Nobunaga puts the Mask on, Mitsuhide is killed.
- We Hardly Knew Ye: Dies the same episode he is introduced.
Saizo Gundam Delta Kai
- Voiced by: Shota Yamamoto
- Public Domain Character: He's based on Kirigakure Saizō, a legendary folklore Ninja from the final phase of the Sengoku period of Japan. He was a member of the Sanada Ten Braves, and is one of the most recognizable members next to Sarutobi Sasuke.
- The Resenter: He accepts the Dark Mask because of his jealousy of Sasuke and desire for strength.
- Shadow Archetype: He is essentially a much more resentful version of Sasuke.
Magohachi
A famous swordsmith who created legendary weapons like Nobunaga's katana Heshikiri-Hasebe.
- The Blacksmith: He is the creator of legendary weapons like the Musha Gundam Mukumaru and Nobunaga's Heshikira-Hasebe, and Cao Cao and Sasuke turn to him for help.
- Expecting Someone Taller: Cao Cao and Sasuke are surprised to find the famous swordsmith they were searching for is a short Tank-Tread Mecha, but don't say anything about it.
- Insufferable Genius: Almost every sentence of his has him call himself a genius swordsmith, but he has the skills to back it up.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He has a very big ego and isn't afraid to brag about his skills, but does genuinely help Cao Cao and Sasuke.
- Non-Standard Character Design: Compared to how most of the extras use grunt mobile suits like the Jegan or GINN as reference, Magohachi is a Jegan head mounted onto what resembles a Mobile Worker, complete with treads and claws for hands.
- Tank-Tread Mecha: Instead of legs, he has treads.
Knight World
Arthur Gundam Mk-III
- Voiced by: Show Hayami
- Back for the Finale: He arrives to help the heroes fight Qiongqi.
- The Good King: Being the hero who pulled the Holy Sword Excalibur, he rules Knight World and is said to be a man of integrity. He is the only character to be offered a Dark Mask and reject it.
- Public Domain Character: Arthur Gundam Mk-III is based on King Arthur, focus and namesake of the Arthurian Legend.
Robinhood Gundam Age- 2
- Voiced by: Tomohiro Yamaguchi
- Anti-Villain: The only reason he fights the heroes is that he believes they are a threat to Kingdom World.
- Back for the Finale: He arrives to help the heroes fight Qiongqi.
- The Beastmaster: Aside from his beloved bird Eaggy, he is able to control tree and rock monsters.
- Instant Messenger Pigeon: His shoulder wings and the tip of his hat can detach and combine to form a bird called Eaggy.
- Public Domain Character: Based on Robin Hood.
Merlin Gundam
- Voiced by: Katsuya Siga
- Dark Is Not Evil: He is black and purple, but loyal to Arthur Gundam Mk-III. Sima Yi impersonating him, on the other hand...
- Disney Death: He is seemingly killed at the end of his first episode so Sima Yi Destiny Gundam can assume his identity, but shows up again later saying that he had been asleep during all the chaos in Knight World.
- Identical Stranger: His resemblance to Sima Yi Destiny Gundam makes it easy for the latter to impersonate him.
- Nervous Wreck: When Robinhood reports the giant ape that attacked Neo World is coming, Merlin doesn't take the news very well and keeps worrying about what could happen.
- Public Domain Character: He is based on Merlin from Arthurian Legend.
Regina World
Caesar Legend Gundam
- Voiced by: Ryuichi Kijima
- Gratuitous French: Ceasar Legend Gundam, who is named after a Roman Emperor and resides in the SD Gundam equivalent of Egypt, shouts his ultimate attacks in French.
- Historical Domain Character: He's based off of the most infamous of Rome's rulers, Julius Caesar.
Cleopatra Qubeley
- Voiced by: Yuuna Kamakura
- Historical Domain Character: She's based on Cleopatra VII, the last Pharaoh of Ancient Egypt.
Others
Sanzang Strike Freedom Gundam
- Voiced by: Kosuke Toriumi
- Big Good: He warns the heroes of the oncoming threat and how to deal with it, and returns in the finale to help finish the job.
- But Now I Must Go: At the end of the series, Sanzang decides to return home and fulfill his job as Star King.
- Gold and White Are Divine: Sanzang Freedom Gundam is the Big Good of the show and is clad mostly in white with gold trimmings.
- Identical Stranger: With Zhuge Liang since he's based on the original Freedom Gundam - except that not only does Sanzang have a very different color scheme, with no blue and even more white, but even his hat is completely different.
- Nice Guy: Once he shows up in person, it is made clear how he much he cared for Wukong, and he thanks the heroes for their help.
- Public Domain Character: He is based off of Sanzang from Journey to the West.
- Sealed Good in a Can: The first thing Qiongqi does upon being freed is to shove Sanzang into his former prison. Cleopatra ends up freeing him.
Qiongqi (SPOILERS)
Qiongqi Strike Freedom Gundam is an entity of malice from Sanzang Strike Freedom Gundam and Sima Yi Destiny Gundam's planet. He was defeated by Sanzang in his efforts to become the next Star King, but still wishes to take over the world. He is the one who caused Wukong Impulse Gundam to flee to Neo World.
- Attack Drone: His Super Mode features detachable laser guns based on the DRAGOONs from his source Gundam.
- Big Bad: Turns out to be one for SD Gundam World as a whole.
- Dark Is Evil: He is distinguished from Sanzang Strike Freedom Gundam by his black and purple color scheme.
- Driven by Envy: The earliest flashback of Qiongqi shows him actually acting rather well-composed compared to the Psychotic Manchild he is elsewhere... until he hears Sanzang is to be the next Star King instead of him.
- Evil Counterpart: To Sanzang Strike Freedom Gundam.
- Greater-Scope Villain: Not only does Sima Yi work for him, but he is the reason Wukong Impulse Gundam even met the cast.
- Karmic Death: Is inflicted this twofold, being punched through the torso by Wukong, the one he had manipulated and tried to turn into a weapon through crimes that turned himself into the exact kind of threat the Humanoids were created to stop, and then gets engulfed in the explosion of his own superweapon Dark Star.
- Made of Evil: His online bio describes him as an entity of simple-minded malice.
- Murder Is the Best Solution: Aside from being jealous Sanzang became Star King instead of him, Qiongqi was dissatisfied with his rule for using the Humanoids for peaceful defense rather than using them to conquer other planets and destroy their enemies.
- Psychotic Manchild: Compared to Sanzang, his manner of speech is much franker to display the childness of his simple-minded malice, and he tends to have rather frantic and twitchy movements.
- Sadist: He seems to relish in watching others kill each other, prolonging Nobunaga Gundam Epyon's brainwashing and Lyu Bu Sinanju's resurrection in hopes they will kill Cao Cao Wing Gundam.
- Sealed Evil in a Can: He spends most of the series imprisoned for hypnotizing Wukong and sending him offworld. He is freed once Wukong gains his memories back and immediately traps Sanzang in his former prison.
- Torso with a View: His final fate is getting punched through the torso by Wukong.
- Walking Spoiler: His existence isn't even hinted at until the second half of the series.
