Protagonists

     Niimi Reiji
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/reiji2_7.jpg
Before and after
  • Above Good and Evil: He is such an otaku for Magical Girls that he can't decide who he likes more, Pluna, with whom he's True Companions, and the "good" magical girl, or Otto, the Evil Counterpart, because they're both got their roles down perfectly.
  • Bathtub Bonding: Invoked, deconstructed, and played for laughs. Walpurga drags him into a bath with her, which he can't refuse, being a wand. While they do converse and get to understand each other a bit better, the moment she realizes he's uncomfortable, she tries to make him understand how being embarrassed feels, by doing things out of a soapland scene. Then he turns into a human. Hilarity Ensues.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: His last conscious moments were wishing he had magic powers so he could save a little girl without getting turned to Ludicrous Gibs in the process. This marks him as the perfect "choice" to have his soul seized and shoved into a magic wand.
  • Blessed with Suck: Granted "omnipotence" as a magic wand, but unable to do anything on his own, and given absolutely no teaching on how to use it. It's amazing things went as well as they did, and even then, there's much to be desired.
  • Butt-Monkey: Just like with Walpurga, things seldom go his way for long.
  • Crying Wolf: He lies and tells Walpurga that she's been cursed to die, of embarrassment, if she leaves him tied up to a tree in the forest, because whatever clothes she decides to wear will become at least as stripperific as her magical girl outfit, or she can learn to prance around naked. Although he ultimately confesses this, it destroys her credibility in him. So when he tells her something more improbable, but ultimately true, she doesn't believe it, until she experiences it herself, to her complete Freak Out.
  • Did Not Think This Through: Yeah, maybe Reiji should have waited until he figured out how to turn back into a wand before having "Magical Girl Pluna" try out for a subjugation license, though the logic behind the plan that was used is actually pretty sound.
  • Diving Save: He rescues a little girl by shoving her out of the way of a truck that ran a red light, but got crushed beneath its tires in the process.
  • Fish out of Water: Being dragged into this new world, soul shoved into a wand, and left on a shelf after an "explanation" that is really no explanation at all, and it's surprising he can function at all.
  • Involuntary Shapeshifting: He finds out, to Walpurga's horror, that he can turn into a human, but he has absolutely no control over it.
  • It Sucks to Be the Chosen One: Soul grabbed, shoved into a wand, given "omnipotence" and then left with absolutely no knowledge of how to use it? Yeah. That sucks quite a bit.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He does genuinely want Walpurga's best interests, but he's terrible at reading her feelings, so he needlessly puts her through a lot of grief.
  • Love at First Sight: He fell madly head over heels in love with Walpurga the moment he laid eyes on her, as she's an Identical Stranger to the fictional character "Magical Girl Luluna."
  • Ludicrous Gibs: How he died on Earth.
  • The Needless: Played With. As a wand, aside from needing someone to carry him, as he can't move on his own as a wand, he does not need food, rest, or anything else. As a human, he does need to eat, sleep, breathe, and everything that goes with being a living being.
  • Not Me This Time: When he unlocks Pluna's Super Mode, he went through a great deal of effort beforehand to design a far more modest outfit that she'd be pleased with. Once they both agree on the design, she activates it, only to learn, to her horror, that the new form is even more Stripperific than the last, and it certainly wasn't Reiji's doing.
  • Not What It Looks Like: When Maria rushes to the bath as a result of hearing Walpurga's scream, sees him holding a naked Walpurga, in the bath, to keep her from hitting her head as a result of her Freak Out... Yeah, the optics are pretty bad, regardless of culture.
  • Property of Love: Walpurga begins calling him her property in chapter 4, and he's tickled pink by it. Primarily because it means that she will never abandon him again.
  • Refusal of the Call: Pointedly refused the "honor" of being shoved into a magic wand and granted "omnipotence." His wishes were pointedly ignored.
  • The Social Expert: Though he's terrible at reading the underlying motives, he is great at knowing which levers to push to get Walpurga to do what he wants.
  • Too Desperate to Be Picky: He granted Walpurga's wishes because, as a wand, he can't do anything for or by himself.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: He starts the story thinking Walpurga is a Shameless Fanservice Girl, for some rather sound reasons, and that her embarrassment was due to the rather "chuuni" nature by which she transformed and calls upon the "magic" he grants her. It takes him several days to realize she's a Reluctant Fanservice Girl, and doesn't like the stripperific nature of her magical girl outfit, but by then, there's nothing he can do about it, until they've fought many, many more battles.

     Walpurga

Before
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wand_3.jpg
After
The titular magical girl.
  • All-Loving Heroine: Even though she hates her home village, for many unexplained "bad memories", she still risks her life to rescue them.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Begs Reiji to lend her his magic power so she can fight off a monster. He turns her into a magical girl with very stripperific clothes.
  • Blessed with Suck: Or Cursed with Awesome, depending on who you ask. Her magical girl form grants her a great deal of power, but leaves her in a stripperific outfit that has her fighting her own embarrassment as hard as she's fighting monsters and demons, as her battles are rather public.
  • Braids of Action: In chapter 9, Reiji designs Pluna's Super Mode and the design comes with a long Valkyrie like bang that drapes over one shoulder.
  • Butt-Monkey: Life seemingly loves to see her suffer emotionally.
  • Can't Refuse the Call Anymore: By the time chapter 4 comes around, she's exposed as "the magical girl" because her transformation wore off in public. She now has to fight because the demons will come after her, no matter what she does.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: No matter how much it embarrasses or pains her, she just can not turn her back on suffering people, period. Even starting the story shielding Reiji's wand form from a powerful attack with her own body.
  • Cute Little Fang: She has a marked incisor on the left side of her mouth that can't be missed.
  • Embarrassing but Empowering Outfit: The bane of her existence as "Magical Girl Pluna." The power of "Omnipotence" Reiji's wand form provides is royally perverted and stuffs her in extremely stripperific outfits, regardless of what she or Reiji want. In exchange, it gives her immense magical power that makes her Nigh-Invulnerable and allows her to beat all but the strongest of demons in a head-on clash, provided she isn't defeated by her own embarrassment first.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: As "Magical Girl Pluna," she's golden haired blonde, and is an All-Loving Heroine.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: More than the embarrassment of her stripperific Magical Girl outfit, she doesn't see herself as worthy of the power Reiji gives her. All he can do is constantly remind her that You Are Better Than You Think You Are.
  • Hour of Power: Her magical girl form comes with a short time limit. Reiji has repeatedly received warning messages when her time is about to run out.
  • Identical Stranger: She is identical in personality and appearance to Reiji's favorite character "Magical Girl Luluna."
  • Idiot Hair: In either her "civilian" or "magical girl" forms, she has a lock of hair that sticks straight up for no explained reason.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: Eyes the color of sapphire, and a woman with absolutely no vice or malice in her body. A bit of mischief, perhaps, but no malice.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name is Walpurga, which is closely related to Walpurgis, the mythical "Witches' Feast," and she becomes the new world's first-ever magical girl.
  • Perpetual Poverty: She starts the story so poor, she can't afford panties.
  • Refusal of the Call: In the beginning of chapter 2, she ties Reiji to a tree because she feels herself unworthy of carrying such a special wand. Reiji calls her back, not just because he fears being abandoned, but because she's far more worthy of the role than she thinks she is.
  • Reluctant Fanservice Girl: She's constantly subjected to Clothing Damage, stripperific clothing, or unwitting erotic poses, and doesn't like any of it.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: By the time chapter 4 rolls around, she's been in the bath with Reiji, repeatedly, and hates the fact that he's constantly turning away, eventually realizing he's uncomfortable, and thinks its because he's weak to being bathed. In reality, he's uncomfortable because he's trying very, very hard to not get himself aroused by being around her naked body. She learns her error the hard way when his Involuntary Shapeshifting triggers for the first time.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: In her "civilian" form, she's red haired, and unflinchingly a good person.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: One bath and a brand new "sailor suit" outfit later, and she's a real beauty.
  • Too Desperate to Be Picky: She begs Reiji to lend her his strength because she had a monster hot on her heels.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: As Magical Girl Pluna, she's very powerful, but is a complete amateur.
  • Wrong Context Magic: Magical Girls are something completely alien to the new world, so nobody can figure out how to counter their "magic."

Antagonists

     Gueru
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gueru.jpg
Gueru, subordinate of Ginakio
One of the demon king's sub-commanders.

     The four demon lords
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lords.jpg
The top generals of the demon king
  • Crime of Self-Defense: Especially Gianko. They all call humans "evil" for daring to resist being exterminated, and god "unfair" for giving them the means to do so.
  • Demon Lords and Archdevils: Self-explanatory.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: The defeat and death of Gueru shook them all, especially Giankio, to the core, and they mourned his loss.
  • Made of Evil: They are formed entirely of evil miasma, and are invariably hostile to humans, who have done nothing to offend them.
  • Our Demons Are Different: Formed of non-sentient evil spirits, that grow into monsters, and once they become strong enough, gain sentience and the power to speak.

     Pia

Buzz! Buzz!

     Lugal
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lugal.jpg
This "cool" me can't be bothered to appear here.
The demon occupying some nearby ruins.
  • Abnormal Limb Rotation Range: A bit more justified than other examples. His head tilts a full 90 degrees sideways in shock at one point, but being an animated skeleton, he doesn't have to worry about those annoying muscles, skin, blood vessels, and cartilage restricting his range of motion.
  • Bad Boss: When advised by his top minion to flee from Magical Girl Pluna, someone the demon lords are wary of, and such has already been thoroughly justified in his own sight, as she's blasting through his "unbeatable" dungeon traps, he pulls out his sword and cuts the poor bunny in half, and he wonders why the rest of his minions flee for their lives.
"Aah. The weak always try to run."
  • Berserk Button: Being "cooler" than him has him go totally postal.
  • Black Eyes of Evil: Has dark grey pupils with black sclera, and is unflinchingly evil.
  • The Bully: His preferred method of looking "cool" to himself is sadistically tormenting and brutalizing those weaker than himself.
  • Dem Bones: Is some kind of animated skeleton.
  • Fan Disservice: At about the mid-point of chapter 8, he's got the very attractive female adventurer he captured in his dungeon, clothes and armor torn in very fetishistic ways. With one arm chained to the wall and holding her upright, even better. Then she's weakly begging him not to kill her, after she's apparently been through a bit of torture. Uh...
  • Faux Affably Evil: Speaks with polite words and phrases, but sees everyone aside from himself with utter contempt, and won't hesitate to kill the bearer of bad news.
  • A Hero To His Home Town: At least in his own head, he thinks he's the "hero" of the Demon Army, even though he really doesn't care to work for them.
  • How We Got Here: Introduced in chapter 8, Magical Girl Pluna bearing down on him. The rest of the chapter explains how and why Pluna is doing so, strongly justifying her actions.
  • Hypocrite: Which he lampshades (but does not admit). He cut down his underlings for advising that he flee Pluna, after all his traps and monsters proved ineffective, yet runs away when nothing he personally does to her works either, and she starts to wail on him, personally.
"I'm not cool, having to use transportation magic. This humiliation... I won't forget—-"
  • I Control My Minions Through...: Terror, abject terror. All his underlings are shown deathly afraid and constantly walking on eggshells, terrified that he will unleash his wrath upon them for failing him. When they see that he will kill them, regardless, they flee for their lives, to his resignation.
  • Ignorant of His Own Ignorance: Thinks he's the most powerful demon, ever, simply because he's only been up against packs of humans, which are known to be weak, compared to demons. Magical Girl Pluna comes along, and beats the literal stuffing out of him without even trying.
  • Karmic Death: Tortured and threatened an adventurer woman, planning to kill her while ignoring her pleas for mercy. Gets pulverized into dots of light by Magical Girl Pluna who ignores his pleas for mercy.
  • Miles Gloriosus: Loves to brag about how "cool" and powerful he is. The only reason he has anything to boast about is because he's always fighting beings far weaker than himself. When he runs across a genuine challenge, he runs away first chance he gets.
  • Moral Myopia: He hunts down people, torturing and killing them because that's how he's "cool," insulted that people call him a monster. Magical Girl Pluna tears through his traps and monsters, giving him a beatdown without trying while rescuing an adventurer, and she's the monster.
  • Right Behind Me: Mutters regrouping and plotting revenge on Pluna for the "humiliation" of being beaten in a straight-up fight, to notice Pluna right behind him, easily tracking him down.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: It comes a bit late, but he does use teleport magic to try and escape Pluna. By then it doesn't help, as she effortlessly hunts him down.
  • Suicidal Overconfidence: Which he lampshades. Prior to being on the wrong side of a beatdown in a head-on fight with Magical Girl Pluna, he was entirely confident in his inevitable victory. Then Pluna accidentally falls on him, smashing him to the ground.
  • This Cannot Be!: When nothing he does has any effect on Magical Girl Pluna.
  • Villain Has a Point: The adventurers he's attacking at the beginning of chapter 8 did invade his home, and he's right to defend himself; however, he loses all merit in his actions the moment he starts to sadistically torment them.
  • Villains Want Mercy: Finding himself at Pluna's feet, escape impossible, he shamelessly begs for his life, offering all sorts of rewards. Pluna is not interested.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Introduced and killed off in chapter 8.

     Otto
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/otto_4.jpg
Do NOT call me a "Fake!" Fix your words!
The Demon's answer to the "magical girl" problem.
  • Berserk Button: Do not call her a "fake" even though that's exactly what she is.
  • Combat Pragmatist: She fights very, very dirty.
  • Compete for the Maiden's Hand: Gender flipped. "Otto" and "Pluna" decide to compete over Reiji to see who would be the better "Magical Girl." This winds up putting her and Pluna on the same side.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Pluna
  • Love Redeems: Sides with Pluna and "Nimi" (ie Reiji's wand form) starting in chapter 15 as a direct result of falling in love with him.
  • Mask of Power: Wears a domino mask and is powerful enough to tank a hit from Pluna.
  • Master of Illusion: Uses all sorts of hypnotic and illusion attacks to get her way.
  • The Reveal: Two in a row. First, takes off the domino mask revealing it's Agate underneath and then transforms into Gianko and identifies as demon lord Gianko right in front of Reiji and Pluna.
  • Utopia Justifies the Means: Strongly believes that the demon king wants genuine peace, by taking over the world. Pluna calls bullshit on that, considering all the suffering that monsters and demons are directly responsible for.
  • What Is Evil?: Openly compares human subjugators fighting monsters with demons attacking humans.
  • Your Mind Makes It Real: She can go into your mind, draw out your trauma and make you relive it. Even killing you with it, as she demonstrates by forcing Sister Maria being drowned by a slime, and nearly killing her.

     The demon king
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/39_2.jpg
This is only a familiar.
  • Antivillain: The demon king is not as evil as originally advertised. He truly does want peaceful coexistence, and if there's a method other than conquering and enslaving the humans, he'll take a chance on using it.
  • Bad Is Good and Good Is Bad: Justified. Humans and Demons are at war, so what's good for humans is bad for demons and vice versa.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Subdued but present. He's shocked that Walpurga and Reiji aren't greedy and only ask for the bare minimum they need to complete their mission to persuade the human countries to hold a peace conference with the demons.
  • Mix-and-Match Critter: His familiar is an owl with a dragon's head on its tail.
  • Ominous Owl: The body of his familiar is mostly an owl.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Rather than have Gianko/Agate executed for treason, he is willing to meet with "Magical Girl Pluna" to negotiate a peaceful coexistence. Further, when Walpurga stands down by having Reiji enter "emergency mode" he has his troops stand down as well.

Active Allies

     Sister Maria
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maria_40.jpg
Do you at least have the common sense that a man should not be in the bath with a woman, Wand-san?
A nun Walpurga and Reiji meet en route to the city of Pocell.
  • Good Shepherd: A priestess and a good church leader.
  • Hero-Worshipper: She insists on adding "sama" to Walpurga's name. Walpurga doesn't know how to function with such an honor.
  • I Owe You My Life: If Walpurga and Reiji didn't happen to chance upon her, a slime would have suffocated her to death.
  • Ms. Exposition: She's the primary source of information for Walpurga and Reiji to join in subjugation missions.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: Chapter 14 reveals that she is indeed a powerful and talented fighter, able to hold her own against a demon Evil Counterpart "Magical Girl" who can tank a punch from Pluna. It took being mind-controlled with the Primal Fear of being drowned by slime to take her out of the fight.

     Elizabeth II Estari Welhen
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elizabeth_0.jpg
You're with Magical Girl Pluna? Pathetic!
A licensed subjugator Reiji and Walpurga almost literally bump into.
  • Blue Blood: Her family is a group of aristocrats that manages a city.
  • Boxing Lessons for Superman: She stumbles upon Pluna engaged in a bit of Percussive Therapy, wrecking the forest in a rage at being stuck with an even more stripperific outfit, as a result of the "Magical Girl" system ignoring both her and Reiji's wishes and forcing her into it. Elizabeth takes down Pluna with disgusting ease and offers to train her to control her power, becoming Strong and Skilled.
  • Cain and Abel: She's the Abel to the rest of her household, and they look down on her for it.
  • Child Prodigy: Mastered magic before reaching 13, and is a high-ranked subjugator, looking for an even higher rank.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Amazingly, she's the responsible sibling, to the rest of her relatives, to their obvious disdain.
  • Groin Attack: When Reiji trips and falls atop her Accidental Pervert style, she knees him in the groin in response, honestly believing that she's defending herself from a sexual assault.
  • Humble Pie: When Pluna manages to calm down and fight rationally, employing her new "Brave" form properly, Elizabeth is the one taken down with disgusting ease, and then when Pluna apologizes for lashing out earlier and offers her a helping hand, her pride is shattered completely, so she runs off into a cave to curl up in a fetal position and cry. Not wanting her to become an antagonist later, Reiji takes a human form to go have a little chat with her...
  • Internal Reveal: She's not only aware of Reiji and Pluna's secret identity, but she's also somehow aware that Otto, Agate, and Gianko are all the same person.
  • Jerkass: Shouts at Reiji and Walpurga to clear the way for her, despite the fact that both of them were in a corner and weren't blocking her path in any way, and smugly spouts "pathetic" at Walpurga when called out on it.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: She is correct that Walpurga's civilian identity is "pathetic" as a subjugator. She's also right to be harsh with the newbie mage because the battle-field is no place to be shy, timid, or overly concerned with getting things "perfect" before acting. Said harsh critique was instrumental in getting the newbie mage to focus and defend herself just fine.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While in the official Subjugator's training exam, paired with a complete rookie, when the rookie copies her technique to take down a monster, she turns and praises the rookie for said rookie's observational skills and quick thinking, giving the rookie a massive boost in confidence.
  • Loophole Abuse: She realizes that to qualify for the "inheritance battle" which she's been forced into, the two servants she can have don't have to be human, and tries to smuggle a couple of fairies into the city. To kick her while she's down, her brother scupper her and forces the fairies away. Unfortunately for these vipers, this now leaves her with Pluna and Gianko as "servants."
  • The Peeping Tom: Accidentally. She stumbles upon Walpurga and Reiji trying to exit "Emergency" mode, which, unfortunately for Walpurga, puts them both in a compromising position.
  • Red Baron: Known as "Subjugation Princess."
  • Sour Outside, Sad Inside: The reason for her jerkass qualities is that she's under tremendous pressure from her family to get as high a subjugation rank as possible, and woe if she fails. This makes her loss to Magical Girl Pluna in a friendly spar heartbreaking.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: By the time she, Pluna, and Agate take part in the "inheritance battle," she's become much, much nicer, to the shock of the family servants, who like the change.
  • The Unfavorite: Her family is a bunch of vipers, and they focus all their Faux Affably Evil Condescending Compassion on her.

The Welhen Family

     Angelica Estalich Welhen
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/angelica_4.jpg
There's no point in waiting for Elizabeth, get this inheritance battle started!
Elizabeth's older sister.
  • Alpha Bitch: And that's putting it mildly.
  • Big Sister Bully: Goes out of her way to harass, humiliate, insult, and provoke Elizabeth every chance she gets, but woe if Elizabeth dares to fight back, or even defend herself.
  • Curbstomp Battle: On the wrong end when it's her and her servant's turn against Elizabeth.
  • Dirty Coward: Loves to flaunt her ego and browbeat others, but when she's in danger, she runs as fast as her overdressed legs will carry her.
  • Metaphorically True: She shows up at Plynco, summons Elizabeth back to the estate for an important meeting with their father. When Elizabeth shows up, she learns that the "important meeting" is her father's funeral, leaving her completely unprepared for the upcoming "Inheritance Battle", with Plynco being three days away, and only having three days to find servants to help her and prepare...
  • Shameful Strip: She tries to rip Pluna's top off, Pluna reflexively lashes out, leaving a crater in the nearest wall.
  • Shame If Something Happened: On the receiving end. After nearly getting punched through a wall by Pluna, in clear self-defense, because Angelica was trying to rip off her clothes, Elizabeth retorts "I'm glad you weren't hurt, An, it would be a shame if you can't participate."
  • Smug Snake: Sees herself as vastly superior to Elizabeth and loves to flaunt it, even if all the empirical evidence says it aint so.

     Longinus Estalich Welhen
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/longinus.jpg
It's okay to wait for Elizabeth, I've crushed the last chance she had!
Elizabeth's younger brother.
  • Black Speech: When he's enraged, his speech bubbles turn black and the text turns white.
  • Condescending Compassion: On paper, his words seem kind and considerate, caring for his sister's well being, but in practice, he's filled with nothing but contempt and malice towards her.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: Elizabeth curbstomping all her opposition in the inheritance battle, including himself, and then stating she plans to lead the family her way, not her father's, turns him from an enemy to an ally, or at least neutral.
  • Enfante Terrible: His age is in the single digits, and he's more vile than the demons shown to date. That's saying something.
  • Faux Affably Evil: His words are polite, elegant, and compassionate, but his body-language is full of malice.
  • Freudian Excuse: If his story can be believed, as abusive as Elizabeth's father was to her, she was the family favorite and was even mentioned in the will as his heir. The off-screen abuse he suffered was so bad, he not only destroyed the will, he tried to steal the title of heir, just for the joy of smashing the man's legacy to dust.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Highly antagonistic before the "inheritance battle", completely supportive after his defeat.
  • Kick Them While They're Down: He follows Elizabeth to the forest outside the family estate, ambushes her at the town gate, and threatens to rip apart her stomach with fire to force her to literally cough up the two pixies she was trying to smuggle in as her servants, just to stick it to her because all the other servants at the estate were forbidden from serving.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Does this ever apply. Had he left Elizabeth alone, she would have brought two fairies to the fight, and her chances were poor. Because he tormented her and drove her to desperation, she sought aid from Magical Girl Pluna and Agate, who are not only far more powerful, but gives Reiji a golden opportunity, should Elizabeth win the inheritance, to get one of four most difficult problematic human powers to the peace table, which Agate actively lampshades.
  • Smug Snake: Like Angelica, loves to flaunt his ego and self-perceived superiority.
  • Sour Outside, Sad Inside: His vicious near-psychotic behavior was prompted by intense parental abuse. Once Elizabeth takes control of the family and voices her intent to completely ignore their father's legacy, he becomes a much, much nicer person.
  • This Can Not Be: When it's his turn and he tries to sacrifice his servants to get at Pluna, he's gobsmacked when his vaulted "top secret" spell that he's been to master for years is countered and one-upped by Pluna using the exact same spell back at him.
  • We Have Reserves: He tried to fire a spell through his servants to get to Pluna.

     Cornelius Estalich Welhen
Elizabeth's Older Brother.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cornelius_7.jpg
There's no meaning to dredging up the past.
  • Bit Character: Shows up, gets named, and that's it.
  • Fainting: He's disqualified from the battle because he passes out just from seeing Pluna fight.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: He doesn't even bother to protest the decision when he's disqualified, knowing he doesn't stand a chance against Elizabeth's "servants."

Others

     Agate
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/agate.jpg
Welcome to the subjugation's hall
A random woman Reiji and Walpurga meet in the subjugation hall.
  • Attractive Bent-Gender: Oh yes! Gianko may be a fairly attractive male demon, but Agate is a smoking hot woman.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: To Master Actor levels. She is so good at pretending to be a decent woman that she had the audience fooled until chapter 11 comes around and she reveals her true colors to the Subjugation Guild secretary.
  • Gender Bender: Can go from male-form Gianko to female form Agate.
  • Glory Seeker: The truth of her nature. All she really cares about is boosting her own fame and glory and she'll ride whatever coattails she can to get there... or not.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Blonde hair, and so far a decent and kind woman. Proves subverted in chapter 11, as seen by the tropes above.
  • Hermaphrodite: Turns out to have been born with both genders.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Appears to be completely smitten with the demon lord. He won't even give her the time of day, aside from official orders.
  • I Am Not Pretty: States that she's a Hopeless Suitor because her love interest doesn't give her the time of day, and it makes her question her sex-appeal. Reiji calling her "cute" has her so flustered, she runs out of the room, even though her clothes were shredded in a fight with Magical Girl Pluna earlier that day, and all she's got to cover herself is the blanket of the bed she was lying on...
  • Master of Illusion: Can project alternate images of herself that can deal physical damage through Your Mind Makes It Real. And pain isn't the only sensation she can deliver to her opponents.
  • The Mole: She's Gianko in disguise.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Is not afraid to show off the goods to Reiji.
  • What Is This Thing You Call "Love"?: While confronting some morally dubious, totally Sickening Sweethearts, adventurers as Gianko, pointedly asks them what love is. Trying to stay alive just a bit longer in the face of certain death, they do their best to answer.
  • Wolf in Sheep's Clothing: Combined with Defensive Feint Trap. She's not quite as defenseless as she appears to be, which she uses to lure in her victims into dropping their guard and then crushing them.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: When she's searching for Reiji and Walpurga, who were elsewhere in the forest trying to have Walpurga transform, she stumbles upon a "Golden Mane" monster that the subjugation guild can't possibly deal with, especially considering the large number of newbies present. Fortunately, Walpurga had managed to transform into "Pluna" beforehand, allowing her to One-Hit KO the monster. Chapter 12 reveals that this might not have been so "unwitting" after all...

     Chief
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chief_34.jpg
In battle, there is no "next time."
The head of the Pocell subjugation guild.
  • The Complainer Is Always Wrong: He spends his entire on-screen appearance in chapters 5 and 6 berating Reiji and highly suspicious of "Magical Girl Pluna." The end of chapter 6 has him eat crow when she shows up and one-shots a monster he had the entire guild flee from.
  • Everybody Calls Him "Barkeep": He's only addressed by "Chief." His name has yet to be revealed.
  • Exact Words: Exploited. He hears Walpurgis looking to find the best possible first mission for "Magical Girl Pluna." He gives her the message to head on a mission that wiped out a 10-man band of silver ranked adventurers. Reiji and Walpurgis (as Pluna) think it's a mission for rookies, and clear it without taking it seriously.
  • Sergeant Rock: Harsh, but he wants the subjugators to do well.
  • Sink or Swim Mentor: Justified. He's there to test new applicants, not hold their hands through battle.

Who is this "Magical Girl."
One of the named rookies.
  • Abnormal Limb Rotation Range: After taking a punch from Magical Girl Pluna, her head is bent sideways 90 degrees. Only Pluna and Reiji find that odd for some reason.
  • Boxing Battler: Fights with boxing moves, no weapon.
  • Instant Expert: No experience as a soldier, mercenary, or subjugator, but mows down monsters with ease.
  • The Mole: Is actually a demon in disguise.
  • One-Woman Army: In her team of four, she's the only one who was capable of taking on monsters and soloed them. Chief is less than thrilled at her lack of team-work.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: When she goes from her demon form to her human form, she revels in being buck naked, even when her male fellow demon asks to Please Put Some Clothes On.
  • Traitor Shot: At the end of chapter 6, she's the only one not thrilled at being rescued from "Golden Mane."
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Her head being bent sideways a full 90 degrees and nonchalantly pushing back into place only weirds out Pluna and Reiji. Everyone else just shrugs and goes back to their daily lives as if it's nothing special.

I'm not in love with Pluna! I just want to be strong like her!
The adventurer rescued from Lugal by Pluna.
  • Fangirl: Is wildly captivated by Pluna and wants to be as strong as the titular Magical Girl.
  • Can't Catch Up: Much as she struggles to be like Pluna, she just can't match the latter.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: She does.
  • Heroic Wannabe: She wants to be a hero, in a good way, and strives to be as brave, beautiful, and powerful as Pluna.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Repeatedly on the receiving end.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: She is indeed a capable fighter, capable of fending off Otto's mind-control magic, but she's just outclassed.
