    MC

The protagonist and player character of the game.

  • Character Customization: There are several customization options available at the start of the game, ranging from hairstyle, skin/eye color, male/female face and bust types.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: You can name the MC whatever you'd like.

    Heath
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2019_10_23_at_122227_pm.png
"The road to hell is paved with good intentions."
A soft-spoken, romantic individual of the Iscari house.

    Randal
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2019_10_23_at_122335_pm.png
"Things won't be like this for much longer."
Opinionated but friendly, Randal is the head of a group of Mavvar.

  • Cuddle Bug: Despite his tough exterior, Randal is the most physically affectionate of the main characters.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Like all of the main characters.
  • Foreshadowing: His special ending can be foreshadowed in a dream in Markus's route, although it's unclear that it is Randal until after you've already played it through.
    • His reluctance to fight, his insistence on occasionally getting alone time from his clan and his veneration of individuality foreshadow the fact that he is not Mavvar.
  • Freudian Slip: The player can call him out on one of these early in his route, though he denies it.
  • Looks Like Jesus: Randal has allusions to Jesus of Nazareth in his visual design and parts of his character arc. Most notable are his long free-flowing hair, beard, and bandages that may or may not be covering stigmata.
  • Muscle Beach Bum: Aspects of his design reflect this. In his own words, he looks like "Satan fucked a surfer."
  • Rebel Leader
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Quick to sympathize with anyone under authoritative rule, and is the unofficial leader of a band of outcasts.
  • Tattoo as Character Type: Has several tattoos of varying size and design on both arms. The general iconography matches well with his individualistic spirit, though when asked he explains some are related to the occult and Kabbalah.
  • The Big Guy: Is 6'2 and visibly more muscular than the rest of the cast.

    Markus
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2019_10_23_at_122024_pm.png
"It seems like the world has become perfect."

A famous vampire in Hollywood that does odd jobs for Saorise. He also runs a sex shop and dabbles in vampire philosophy.

  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: Gives the MC head pats.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Markus was accused of drowning puppies, skinny-dipping with Andrei, and biting off a rat's head.
  • Badass Longcoat: His duster is described as long enough to trail in a puddle in one scene.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Markus is a vampire mercenary with a reputation among other vampires as a mysterious badass. He also operates out of a sex shop.
  • Crazy Sane: He is clearly unhinged but has perhaps the most accurate view of the city's vampires.
  • Cryptic Conversation: Par for the course as a Golgotha.
  • Did Not Get The Guy: The kindest ending for Markus has him leave Hollywood and hook up with another vampire.
  • Gallows Humor: If Markus' dialogue isn't the above, it's this.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover
Markus: ...By that, are you implying that kittens are not somehow important?
    • If you choose to maintain the shop for him after his ending, you discover that he puts out food and scratching dildos for the stray cats who make it into his back room.
  • Meta Guy / Fourth-Wall Observer: Has a detached and largely accurate view of his world.
  • Southern Gothic: Undoubtedly the vibe Markus is trying to evoke with his Pentecostal preacher's drawl. It's implied to be fake.
  • Sunglasses at Night: Wears a pair of black aviators most of the time.
  • The Cynic: He doesn't believe there's any hope for the city and that peace was always impossible.
  • The Gadfly: Markus enjoys getting a reaction out of people. Whether he's always doing it on purpose is a matter of interpretation.
  • The Nicknamer: Red Queen for Saorise, Superstar for Randal, Mr. Polaroid for Heath, and brother/sister/fellow traveler for the MC.
  • The Philosopher: He discusses God, religion, morality, dreams, and war with a MC who asks him about them.
  • Trickster Mentor: Leans into this hard when MC is on his route. His first assignment for them is organizing his stock.

    Saorise Locke
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2019_10_23_at_122113_pm.png

The ruler of Los Angeles' vampires. She is an Iscarri and called the "Queen Bitch."

  • Beneath the Mask: Every now and then, you get to see a glimpse of her softer, more vulnerable side.
  • Convicted by Public Opinion: She is blamed for Randal's death if you choose to side with her.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Implied to have happened off-screen with Lazarus, only for her to freeze again after you turn up.
  • Expy: A more empathetic, less obsessive-compulsive version of Therese from Vampire: The Masequerade — Bloodlines. The biggest giveaway is that she's referred to as "Queen Bitch" by Randal, which is the same nickname Vandal from VTMB gives Therese. Their names even rhyme.
    • Has elements of La Croix as well.
  • Informed Attribute: Supposedly an evil dictator, but aside from locking up the main character in their room for a few days, we don't actually see her doing anything one would find immoral. She is, at one point, accused of plotting to kill someone but it's heavily implied this is a lie invented by an enemy. Even the Mavvar don't give any reason to fight her beyond "she has rules and rules are bad." How many rules does she have for her coven? Three.
  • Iron Lady: Attempts to cultivate this attitude but isn't very good at it.
  • Love Redeems: Attempted to invoke this with Lazarus, before Andrei and Markus walked in and screwed it all up. It backfired. Horribly.
  • Pronouncing My Name for You: She tells the MC how to pronounce her name at their first meeting — sha-reez.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Saorise is a lot more diplomatic, flexible, and overall nice than La Croix. It's actually a Deconstructed trope as the vampires of her city take it for weakness.
  • Scary Shiny Glasses: Possesses a pair of these.
  • Viewer Name Confusion: Her name is spelled Saorise and pronounced "sha-reez". It is not the Irish name Saoirse, pronounced "seer-sha".note

    Andrei
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2019_10_23_at_11436_pm.png
The leader of the Golgotha. While he may be quite content in the background, that doesn't mean he's inactive...

  • Expy: His fatherly relationship with the Golgotha and his cool, unfazed demeanor is very reminiscent of Maximilian Strauss from Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines.
    • He also shares a name with the leader of the Sabbat in that game.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: In Randal's special ending, he takes a moment to close his eyes and view the future, and when he opens them, it's the first time you'll see an expression on his face... it's pure terror.
    • Every time Andrei is forthright with information, openly sharing it instead of holding his cards close to his chest, you know serious shit is about to go down.
  • The Stoic: Asks Golgotha characters politely to call him "master," but is still quite calm and cool even if you choose not to.
  • Visionary Villain: Villain may be stretching it but he sees a world where vampires do not have to hide and live openly among mankind.

    Lazarus
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2019_10_23_at_11250_pm.png
"I'm not sorry, and I'm never going to be sorry."
A human vampire hunter who loves his job a little too much...

  • Ax-Crazy: Understandably so.
  • Beast and Beauty: Had this sort of relationship with Saorise.
  • Broken Bird: A male example, and a rather extreme one at that.
  • Bungled Suicide: Tried to commit it and failed miserably.
  • Cannibalism Superpower: Eating the flesh of vampires makes him strong.
  • Driven to Suicide: Will commit suicide in some of the playthroughs if he has nothing to live for.
  • Eye Scream: Due to his suicide attempt. His hand slipped.
  • Foil: To Heath. Both grew up in fame, and both left it behind, but while Heath longs to be adored and the centre of attention again, Lazarus couldn't get away from it soon enough. Both are still bogged down by this aspect of their past.
  • Former Child Star: Started in childhood, but found success in a boy band at an unspecified age — likely mid to late teens.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Early on in the narrative, he expands his palate to vampires.
  • Lean and Mean: He borders on anorexic, though he's at least able to feed himself often enough to live.
  • Meaningful Name: Given his name by Markus due to his "resurrection" as a new person with a new purpose.

    Side Characters

Aleusha

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2019_11_03_at_101727_pm.png

The operator of the local vampire bar, the Abbatoir. She serves as a spy to both the Mavarr and Saorise.

David

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2019_11_03_at_101700_pm.png
The potential first feeding of the protagonist. He can later become his or her blood pet.

  • Ambiguous Disorder: Possibly suffers a mild case of depression and social anxiety.
  • Flat Character: In-universe, David is an aimless shy man who doesn't really know what to do with his life. The MC enslaving him is the most interesting thing he has ever had happen to him.
  • Functional Addict: Averted. He is quite content to just be a blood bag for the MC for the rest of his life.
  • Kiss of the Vampire: He becomes addicted to the bite after just one feeding.
  • The Renfield: He can become one if the player desires.
  • The Unfavorite: Feels this way but it seems like he was actually quite loved by his family.

Dorian

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s072128264.png
A vampire bartender who works at the local feeding spot, the Abbatoir.

  • Ambiguous Gender: Is commented on in-universe for his androgyny but is a guy.
  • The Bartender: Devotes himself to creating blood-based concoctions that please the undead.
  • But Now I Must Go: Doesn't plan to stay in Hollywood as he hopes to find new recipes and ways to treat blood.

Evelyn

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/index_14.png

A Mavarr from England who is investigating the local vampires.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s054553464.png

A Mavarr friend of Randal's and Aleusha.

  • Big Damn Heroes: Can help Aleusha come rescue Markus from Mavarr out to kill him.
  • The Faceless: Strangely, we never see his eyes despite almost all of his model being drawn.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Is the doorman who lets the MC in and may later help save Markus' life.
  • Ship Tease: Has this with Aleusha.

Jasper

The chief lieutenant of Andrei and one of the Golgotha's leaders.
