    Rascal

Callum Clockwise, a.k.a. Rascal

  • Kid Hero: Rascal appears to be around kid age and is the main hero of the game.
    Professor Clockwise

Professor Caspar Clockwise

    Chronon

Chronon

  • Abnormal Ammo: He uses various attacks that change throughout each battle. He casts fireballs, throws hourglasses and lastly sundials that home in on you.
  • Beard of Evil: He has a short beard.
  • Big Bad: He's the driving force of all the conflict in the game.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: All of his minions were placed under mind control.
  • Clockwork Creature: His design gives him the appearance of a heavily-stylised grandfather clock. His arms likewise are elongated clock hands that protrude from the clock face on his chest instead of the shoulders.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: He managed to place two Aztec gods under his control.
  • Eviler than Thou: He placed Peg Leg Pete, a pirate, and Wild Ned, an outlaw, under his control.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: He has no backstory or personality, he just does evil things for some reason.
  • Gonk: He is utterly hideous. His in-game model looks like Jafar with the body of a grandfather clock. In the opening FMV, however, he looks like a nightmarish, hyper realistic version of Doctor Nefarious Tropy of Crash Bandicoot with the body of the aforementioned grandfather clock.
  • Lean and Mean: He is very thin.
  • Take Over the World: His end goal according to the manual and synopsis.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He has no problem trying to kill Rascal.

Castle Hackalott

Sir Axel Hackalott and Gordon the Good-Natured

'Eighth Lord of Huntingdonshire and thirty-first in line to the Crown, Sir Axel Hackalott was a kindly, benevolent gentleman. At Christmas-time, he would donate funds and vast hampers of food to the local orphanage and encourage his subjects to match his goodwill. Castle Hackalott was renowned for its famous dragon - Gordon the Good-Natured - and folk from far and wide would come to see the gentle beast. Stroking its prickly mane was reputed to bring good luck, but not so for Sir Hackalott. The hole in the fabric of Time was wide enough for Chronon, the evil Time Overlord, to slide through. Faced with such a phenomenon, Sir Hackalott drew his sword, but Chronon's evil magic wove its spell on the brave knight and his pet dragon. They were now under Chronon's command...'
  • Fallen Hero: Sir Hackalott was a very kind and generous knight before Chronon brainwashed him.
  • Gentle Giant: Gordon used to be one before Chronon brainwashed him.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: Gordon can fly and shoot fireballs in his second battle.
  • Optional Boss: The encounter with Gordon in the Castle Hackalott past level is entirely optional, but he is encountered as a boss in the Corridors of Time.
  • Punny Name: Sir Hackalott's name is a play on Sir Lancelot.
  • Your Size May Vary: Gordon is much smaller in the Corridors of Time.

Stokes the Blacksmith

'Gabriel Stokes was never one to shirk a job. Be it tending the furnace or fixing the portcullis at Castle Hackalott, he would turn his hand to anything. Stokes laboured night and day, carrying out his master's orders in return for bed, board and an honest supper. But one day, a trip to the cellar to feed Gordon the Good-Natured, resulted in him meeting his new master - Chronon. And his career took a turn for the worse...'

Mrs Washboard

'As head-cook at Castle Hackalott, Mrs Washboard kept a spotless kitchen and prided herself on her loyalty to the castle. If a foreign army was ever spotted advancing on Huntingdonshire, she'd make certain of one thing: "At least Sir Hackalott's forces would meet the invaders head on with full stomachs." Chronon's invaders, on the other hand, came from another world, in another time zone, a place she could never comprehend. Full stomachs or not, the defenders of Castle Hackalott were now possessed by Chronon and provided the perfect fortress to guard his stolen secrets of time.'

The Castle Guards

Two guards who inhabit the castle.

Security Guards

Security guards of a museum in the present version of Castle Hackalott. Brainwashed by Chronon, they and their dogs will attack you.

Aztec Temple at Chichimeca

Paynal

'Paynal, the Messenger God, guards the sacred Aztec temple at Chichimeca. Anyone who gets in his way had better be quick in their toes!'

Camaxtli

'Camaxtli, Lord of the Chase, is a winged warrior-god. Hurling down mighty balls of fire, he likes to perfect his aim on mischievous trespassers!'
  • Advertised Extra: Camaxtli is mentioned in the manual like he will be a regular enemy in the Aztec world, but only shows up in the final level.
  • Physical God: Described as a winged warrior god.
  • The Worf Effect: Despite being a Physical God, he has been brainwashed by Chronon.

Tom O'Gotchy

'When Tom O'Gotchy started work at the Mexicia tree-processing factory in Chichimeca, he paid no attention to the gossip. The local villagers were rumoured to have called on Techlotl, the Aztec God of the Underworld, to put a curse on the factory, in order to stop the destruction of the rain forests. Many of his lumberjack colleagues had fled the factory in terror. Tom, however, did not fear such a threat and continued to cut trees down day in, day out. Until one evening, as night fell, a god-like figure mysteriously appeared... "Techlotl?" trembled Tom, "Can it really be?"'
  • Asshole Victim: Downplayed. He's a ruthless woodcutter with no respect for the villagers, but he hardly deserved to be brainwashed into Chronon's slave.
  • Chainsaw Good: He attacks with a chainsaw.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: He was correct that a mysterious figure had come for him and was bad news. He was wrong in assuming who the figure was.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: As an enemy from the present, it's unknown what happens to him after Chronon is defeated, but he was most likely simply freed from his brainwashing and left in his proper location.

Atlantis

Delphinus

'Delphinus, king of the dolphins, successfully courted Amphitrite on behalf of Poseidon, God of the Sea. Poseidon visited Delphinus in Cyprus to thank him in person, but he was not to be found. For Delphinus, it turns out, was already in the company of Poseidon (or so he thought), far across the ocean in Atlantis. As everybody knew, Gods constantly changed their shape, and Delphinus felt "Poseidon" looked particularly ethereal in his splendid purple robes. However, this was not the real Poseidon at all, but a different kind of God, for Chronon was now a God of Time, "Do my bidding, Delphinus, and you will be well rewarded."'
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: In the final level, he displays the ability to shoot fireballs from his trident.
  • Punny Name: His name is a pun on dolphin.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: He thought Chronon was Poseidon because of the belief that gods changed their form every so often.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Being an enemy from the present, it's unknown what happens to him in the end. It can only be assumed he was returned to Atlantis and freed from Chronon's control after his defeat.
  • The Worf Effect: Despite being the king of the dolphins and the ruler of Atlantis, he was easily placed under Chronon's control.

Merfolk

'As attendants to Delphinus, mermaids go where he goes, swim where he swims and guard what he guards. Chronon's stolen secrets of Time are safe beneath the sea...'
  • Collision Damage: Unlike other enemies, they just swim around in patterns and ignore you. You only lose health if you end up making contact with them.
  • Invincible Minor Minion: Because they are underwater, they cannot be attacked with the bubble gun, and unlike Delphinus, they never fight Rascal in the final level, meaning they are the only enemies mentioned in the manual who appear but cannot be fought.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: They are likely unaware Delphinus is not of sound mind and are simply following his orders without knowing what Chronon has done to him.
  • You All Look Familiar: All of the mermaids look exactly the same.

Armando Gilletti

'Armando Gilletti was a wealthy courtier of Atlantis. A noble warrior, he would advise King Atlas on military matters. Decorated for his heroic defence of the citadel from the marauding Atheniams, Gilletti was a born protector. And when Chronon stole his mind, the Evil Time Overlord's army gained a valuable new recruit.'
  • Fallen Hero: He was a great warrior before Chronon brainwashed him.
  • Mind Screw: He appears in both the past and present versions of Atlantis. This is never explained, it is possible that Chronon sent him ahead in time, but it's also possible the game developers just didn't care.

The Jolly Raider Pirate Ship]]

Peg Leg Pete

'The Jolly Raider was known in every port as the most fearsome pirate ship on the high seas. The ship's captain went by the name of Peg Leg Pete - not becuase he had a wooden leg (he didn't), but because he was a worthy cribbage player. He was also the finest swashbuckling swordsman in the world and could slash a ship's sails to shreds in the blink of an eye. His crew, on the other hand, were the most cowardly bunch of scurvy-faced, mutinous sea dogs you ever did see. And when the evil Chronon emerged on deck through a hole in the fabric of time, the crew jumped ship, leaving Peg Leg Pete very much alone...'

Jasper Parrot

'Peg Leg Pete's pet parrot Jasper squawked his last "pieces of eight" that fateful day. Now he patrols the Jolly Raider, helping the pirate guard Chronon's secrets of Time.
  • Me's a Crowd: In one room of the ship, you can find two Jaspers together. This is never explained.
  • Pirate Parrot: Pete's pet parrot who now helps him guard pieces of the hourglass.

Mech-Turtle

A mysterious being that is faced by Rascal late into his adventure
  • Giant Space Flea from Nowhere: Shows up only in the Corridors of Time and for some reason is associated with the Jolly Raider world (quite possibly from its future)

Dodgy City

Wild Ned Meredith

'The "Wanted" sign welcomed Wild Ned Meredith into Dodgy City that morning. Fed up with seeing his picture all over the state, he ripped the poster down - it wasn't a very good likeness of him anyhow, and the puny reward insulted his reputation as an outlaw! Tying his horse up at the saloon doors, he strode down the dirt-track into the town centre. But where was everyone? He'd not heard of any gold rush in that area, but the place was like a ghost town. At last, a local appeared, walking towards him, slowly but surely. "Howdy pardner" called Ned, right hand poised above his holster. "I am nobody's partner," growled the local, "I am Chronon, Lord of Time. Bow down before me..."'
  • Affably Evil: Ned was at least polite enough to greet Chronon with a "Howdy pardner" before implicitly trying to rob him.
  • Asshole Victim: He's an outlaw, so he's one of Chronon's less sympathetic victims.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Given that his right hand was poised above his holster, it's likely he was intending to rob Chronon. Granted, he couldn't have known who he was dealing with.
  • Mistaken Identity: The American manual misidentifies him as Deputy Nash.

Sheriff Virgil Clancy

'Sheriff Virgil Clancy was a fair lawman. Hard but fair. He ran Dodgy City with a rod of iron and was reputed throughout the state as having the highest cowboy clean-up rate around. Few cattle-rustlers or gun-slinging outlaws stayed around long enough in Dodgy City to alter those statistics. But visitors from out of town (from out of this world to be precise), we're to turn Dodgy City into a den of crime. And before Sheriff Clancy could go for his Colt 45, the Evil Time Overlord, known only as Chronon, had added to his motley crew of possessed henchmen...'
  • The Ghost: Mentioned in the manual but never appears in the game.

Deputy Warren Nash

'When Deputy Nash reported for work, the Sheriff's offices were in chaos. The cells were unlocked and the doors were open and all the criminals that had been there the night before were gone. All gone bar one - a kooky kind of stranger, with a sinister glint in his eye and a sly, thin smile. The stranger looked deep into his eyes and he knew. As a deputy, he would always follow orders...'
  • The Ghost: Again, doesn't appear at all in the game despite being mentioned in the manuals.

The Bartender

A random bartender encountered by Rascal.
  • Driven to Madness: It seems that Chronon's invasion of Dodgy City took a toll on his sanity. He is seen continuously sending drinks across his counter, causing them to break on the floor.
  • Noodle Incident: He for some reason has a key you need.
  • Shoot the Shaggy Dog: He's not actually against you, he just has a key that you need, so you have to blast him to get it. One can only hope his sanity was restored after Chronon's defeat and that he got to live a normal life again.
  • Unique Enemy: He is the only NPC in the game who is not hostile to Rascal, though he still counts as an enemy, as his glasses can hurt you, and you take damage from touching him, plus you have to blast him to get the key he has.
