The protagonist and the titular Outcast. Kyle lives a life of seclusion, self loath, and immense guilt after the troublesome life he leads, connected with whatever dark forces torment him. But as things get worse and worse in his hometown of Rome, he decides to take the call to stop whatever has followed him and by some extension, figure out what it wants from him.Whether he likes it or not.
Tropes to Kyle
- Despair Event Horizon: Hits this as the show began, blaming himself for beating up Allison and by some extension, his daughter due to the dark forces that plagued his childhood coming back to take over his wife.
- Has this as well in Episode 5 when he believes his abilities don't really help others, much to Anderson's dismay.
- Evil Stole My Faith: Kyle seems to have this mentality, considering in his eyes, God gave him a bad life and took his mother away from him.
- Good Parents: Before the events with Allison, he was a good father and even his reunion with Amber in Episode 4 shows him berating her for calling Allison a "mean bitch".
- It's All My Fault: He firmly blames himself for everything that happened to his mother, wife, and daughter despite not being at fault for anything.
- Misunderstood Loner with a Heart of Gold: He's the town pariah as some (Mildred especially) seem to think he was the cause of his mother's insanity and by some extension, whatever is happening in Rome. He even compares himself to the former Trope Namer, Boo Radley
- Papa Wolf: Wants nothing more than to protect his daughter. Unfortunately, there's a restraining order against him...
- When He Smiles: Kyle spends most of the series having a scowl or neutral expression, but when he does smile, it's heartwarming to say the least.
