Characters / Onmyoji 2016 SP Shikigami

Go To

SP shikigami are are more powerful versions of some existing SSRs and SRs (plus SP Yamausagi as the only R-based one), and so have much more expanded repertoires to bring to bear. This being said, their playstyles differ greatly from their standard counterparts, and possess two special abilities instead of just one, with their passives being merged with the first skill.

Their summoning rate is the lowest in the game at a mere 0.25% chance. Unlike all other shikis (other than Ns) they cannot be Awakened.

    Akakage Yōtō-hime
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/328skin1_2.png
Voiced by: Shiori Izawa (JP), Jung Yoo-jeong (KR)
ID: No. 328

  • Ancestral Weapon: No one knows for sure where the blade came from, but what is known about the entity is that it, along with its wielder, was at one point under control of the Minamoto clan, who sent Yōtō-hime on a quest to defeat Higanbana in the underworld and bring Yorimitsu back to life.
  • Artificial Stupidity: Most shikigami with abilities designed to profit from finishing an enemy off to gain extra benefits (e.g Susabi, Ibaraki Doji, even SSR Yoto Hime) have special targeting AI that causes them to always go for the enemy with the least remaining HP when set on auto control. SP Yoto rather jarringly does not, despite her skill giving her an extra attack with increased damage whenever it kills an enemy, and like most other shikis she will use it on an entirely random target when left to her own devices.
  • BFS: Even bigger than in her SSR form.
  • Blade Spam Played differently from her SSR version; her special ability gives her an immediate turn upon downing an enemy shikigami or onmyōji instead of allowing her to perform a seamless combo. The player is also required to level said ability to at least level 3 before it would allow her to do this, and at level 5 the orb cost is practically removed after gaining a new turn, theoretically allowing her to take repeated actions without consuming any resource. In addition, any allied skill that grants her an instant turn like that of Kagura also triggers this special passive.
  • Finish Him!: Her passive marks the enemy with the least HP remaining on the enemy side after her first move, whom she will automatically attack on the next turn. With every 1% of their HP being removed after being marked, she receives the same percentage in bonuses to ATK and SPD. This makes her an awesome executioner, especially when stacked with her special ability.
  • Glass Cannon: Akakage Yōtō-hime has great ATK and base Crit, but her defenses are wafer-thin. Her playstyle revolves around getting her to move first and bursting down high-HP targets before they could act, and use the free moves granted by that to keep her combo rolling. If the enemy is faster than her, or if she's somehow prevented from acting on her turn, her C-grade HP and DEF mean she's surprisingly fragile and is very liable to be killed in one solid hit.
  • Gathering Steam: While already quite powerful, her SP Crimson Shadow form lets her stack up to 90% of her base attack power upon merely hitting someone on the enemy team with her special ability. This stacks with her passive, as explained above. Combined with buffs and mitama effects, this allows her to snowball up to truly hideous levels of power.
  • Horned Humanoid: Sports a pair of pointy horns jutting from her forehead. This is the biggest physical difference between her and her SSR form.
  • Sarashi: Worn above her exposed stomach (with a couple of small armoured plates over the top). Ironically, this is still more modest than most skins of her SSR form.
  • Was Once a Man: She used to be human in the distant past, until she was bound to the ancient demonic blade she now carries to serve as an enforcer for the Minamoto clan.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: The blade she carries bestows upon her supreme swordsmanship and unparalleled power. It also reduces her to a raving, cruel, and blood-thirsty demon who slaughters indiscriminately just for the thrill of it, not helped by how her former master (who is very likely to be Minamoto no Yorimitsu) specifically gave her an order to fight like that. Once her bloodlust has worn off, however, My God, What Have I Done? sets in.
    Bakkotsu Kiyohime

Voiced by: Toa Yukinari
ID: No. 352

  • Anti-Regeneration: Enemies attacked by Bakkotsu Kiyohime's special skill gain special debuff stacks, capped out at 3 and sustainable for one turn. When they're healed by an allied effect, Bakkotsu Kiyohime will immediately consume one stack per enemy, if applicable, to negate all of the HP they would have received. If this skill is upgraded enough, additional stacks will also be consumed when the target receives a speed boost to negate that as well. At skill level 5, her victims will lose 8% of their max HP every time their stacks are consumed, up to 80%.
  • Bishōnen Line: Bishoujo Line actually, but she's gone from a Snake Person to a beautiful woman riding a giant snake.
  • Damage-Increasing Debuff: She can do this in a number of ways.
    • Once every battle, Bakkotsu Kiyohime can use her second skill to mark an enemy unit with Resentment, while also summoning a Serpent to prioritize attacking them above all others. Resentment reduces said enemy's ATK by 1% for every corresponding 1% of their max HP missing, while also increasing their damage intake by the same percentage.
    • A more reliable damage-increasing debuff would be her basic attack, which permanently docks an enemy of some of their DEF until they die, and stacks up to ten times. If maxed out, her basic attack can reduce an enemy's DEF by a total of 500, down to basically nothing if they're not a tank or weren't specced with enough defensive stats to begin with. Unlike Resentment, her Poison debuffs cannot be remedied by healing her target.
  • Damage Over Time: Enemies attacked by her Snake Spirit will be poisoned, and receive 99% of her ATK as indirect damage at the start of their turns.
  • If I Can't Have You…: If you know the myth of Kiyohime then this isn't anything new. What is new, however, is that whereas the myth version of Kiyohime burned the Buddhist temple down with the monk Anchin trapped and roasted alive in a bell, and then offs herself afterwards, she doesn't torch the place in the version told in her memory scrolls, and instead subjects a horrified Anchin to a Cruel and Unusual Death before taking his skull. Yes, the skull she's holding in her CG and animations is that of Anchin.
  • It Only Works Once: Bakkotsu Kiyohime can only mark one target with Resentment and summon her Serpent once per battle. Even if her original target was killed, she can't pull that move again until the next fight.
  • Taking You with Me: Should Bakkotsu Kiyohime receives a fatal blow from an enemy, her Snake Spirit will immediately lash out at her attacker, inflicting damage equal to the hit that did her in, capped out at 80% of the target's max HP, along with poisoning them for 1 turn.
  • Token Evil Teammate: As of the time of writing, Bakkotsu Kiyohime is the only outright evil SP shikigami. Everyone else is an Anti-Hero at worst, or at the very least on the dark spectrum of grey morality.
  • Wound That Will Not Heal: As described under Anti-Regeneration.
  • Yandere: Staggeringly love-crazy and lust-fueled, and is fully willing to place others in danger and murder her love interest because of it.
    Daiyamaten Enma
Voiced by: Mamiko Noto
With the underworld destroyed by the Aether that has been released by Orochi's schemes, its ruler, Enma, has reclaimed the power of her past self, Yamalord, to find a new way to give peace to the souls of the dead.
  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: Dark haired, pale (to almost completely white) skin, tall, with a character design emphasizing her ascendancy. While not entirely aloof or quiet, she certainly does produce such vibe as befitting one of the highest authorities in the Celestial Bureaucracy.
  • Lady of War: Her SP character design is basically this trope made manifest.
  • Oathbound Power: She is empowered and able to provide power by making pacts with the names of the dead.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She is one of the tallest female characters and easily towering over many male characters.
    Gyōrō Arakawa-no-Aruji

Voiced by: Takehito Koyasu (JP), Kwon Seung-hyuk (KR)
ID: No. 334

  • Awesome, but Impractical: Like any other shikigami who needs to build stacks in order to achieve maximum potential, Gyōrō Arakawa-no-Aruji sounds very impressive on paper, but rarely is he actually given the chance to build that many layers of Rage in a fight, either due to the short length of a PvE battle, or, if it's PvP, the other player would have him killed even before he can start Gathering Steam. Even when given the chance to stack like, say, when fighting world bosses, he's not that great either, since his kit revolves around protecting his allies with Damage Reduction first and foremost, and doesn't actually do a whole lot of damage despite his impressive stats. The orb removal effect is also highly chance-based that it's far from reliable.
  • Critical Hit Class: A given, considering his role and the game he's in, but Gyourou Arakawa-no-Aruji is the first shikigami to have an SS-ranked Crit chance, at a whopping 20% base. Not quite as unique as it sounds, though, as his SSR self already had a base 10% Crit chance and gained an additional 10% chance as an evolution bonus, giving him the same amount (as SP shikis cannot evolve).
  • Damage Reduction: His Rage passive allows his allies to shrug off 20% of the damage they would normally take, which is upgraded to 30% with the first skill up, and stacks with the additional 20% he provides on death. At skill level 5 and 3 stacks of Raging seas, Gyourou Arakawa-no-Aruji's protection could go as high as 50%, 80% if his special ability is at level 4 and he uses it, while also removing the on-death requirement.
  • Fragile Speedster: S-ranked ATK and SPD on top of SS-ranked Crit, but in exchange for very mediocre HP and DEF values. His ATK and SPD are additionally increased with each stack of Raging Seas he has.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Dies protecting his people from the invading forces of Sealand and their leader Otakemaru.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: In-universe, he's the ruler of the Arakawa river and its mightiest hero. But when the forces of Sealand led by Otakemaru invade, he puts up an almighty fight but is ultimately overcome by having to hold off an entire army alone.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Unlike his SSR self, Gyourou Arakawa-no-Aruji is completely bare-chested.
    Hatsurei Yamakaze
Voiced by: Toshiki Masuda
A man representing Yamakaze's past self, yet somehow existing at the same time as the present him.
  • Other Me Annoys Me: While noting some similarities, he overall gets along poorly with his future self.
    Inaba Kaguya-hime
Voiced by: Ayana Taketatsu
The SP version of SSR Kaguya-hime, the moon princess reawakened.
  • Emotion Eater: Her nature and purpose is to collect wishes.
  • The Exile: She was banished by the moon gods to the mortal world.
  • God of the Moon: Her true identity is that of a moon deity, what with being the moon princess.
  • I Choose to Stay: Like the Kaguya of legend, she developed many bonds in the mortal world. Unlike the Kaguya of legend, she makes a different choice, deciding to remain rather than return to the moon. Too bad the moon gods have no respect for her wishes and react by dramatically increasing the severity her punishment.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: The moon gods sealed her memories when they banished her to the mortal world. She starts to recover them when her exile is nearly over. When the moon gods return for her, they attempt to erase them again, telling her the true purpose of her exile in the first place was for her to form memories of the mortal world for them to erase.
  • Power Dyes Your Hair: Her black hair changes to white after absorbing her rabbit's wish power.
  • Regenerating Mana: Like her SSR self, one of her main roles is as an orb provider, in her case doubling your maximum orb supply in addition to generating orbs on her turn.
  • Status Buff: She can boost the damage of an ally's Critical Hit by a percentage of her own Critical Damage.
  • Winged Humanoid: She has 2 pairs of wings.

  • Gold and White Are Divine Has those colors in her default appearance and in both of her skins, while being a goddess.
  • White Mage: While she still possesses the passive and mitama sealing capability of her SSR self, Inari Miketsu arguably takes on a more supportive role, with her two special abilities creating two different kinds of buffing aura that boost either the party's SPD and Effect Res, or their ATK and DEF.

Voiced by: Romi Park (JP, until Jan 2021), Chifuyu (JP), Shin-ichiro Miki (JP, skin #4), Kwak Gyu-mi (KR)
ID: No. 339

  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Arguably more so than his SSR counterpart, then averted brutally with his 3rd skin where he's even recast to a male voice actor.
  • Spam Attack: When maxed his attack skill hits an almighty 9 times for 104% of his attack per hit, although enemies hit more than once have the damage reduced by 15% for each successive hit. If concentrated onto a single target then even with the damage falloff it's one of the single strongest attacks in the entire game.
  • Too Important to Walk: SP Tamamo rides in a litter carried (magically) by a pair of lesser spirit foxes.
    Kaisei Kachōfūgetsu
Voiced by: Saori Hayami
The SP version of SSR Kachōfūgetsu.
  • Art Initiates Life: She can bring her artwork to life, whether as part of the environment of her Realm, as servants, or as recreations of actual people.
  • Pocket Dimension: She lives within a painted Realm of her own creation and has allowed a thriving community of artists to live there.
  • Portal Picture: She contains many of these within her home Realm, including more realms within her main realm.
    Kami Otoshi Orochi
Voiced by: Mamoru Miyano (JP)
The SP version of SSR Orochi. Having been freed from the seal, with his full power restored, he has returned to the mortal world to put Humanity on Trial and remake this world In Their Own Image. Tropes about Yamata-no-Orochi not specific to his SP form can be found here
  • Fallen Angel: He rebelled against Amaterasu, the Top God, and the English translation of his name is literally "Fallen God Orochi".
  • Humanity on Trial: He wields the artifact of execution to destroy the old world for it's sins using Amaterasu's own laws, in order to show Amaterasu her hypocrisy.
  • Light Is Not Good: A god with white skin, hair, and robes, a God of Evil putting Humanity on Trial so that he can destroy the old world and replace it with one of pure sin.
  • Power Dyes Your Hair: His full power restored, his hair color changes from black to white.
    Kokorogari Kijo Momiji
Voiced by: Houko Kuwashima
In order to survive The Corruption destroying her forest, Momiji has resorted to devouring the evil spirits that have been invading, making her stronger still at further cost to her sanity.
  • Abusive Parents: Her father was so horrible that her mother tried to take her away from him, only to be murdered by him. He then emotionally manipulated her to lie that bandits were the ones responsible.
  • Came Back Strong: The Corruption destroys her body, but thanks to Seimei helping her come to peace with herself, she is able to repair her heart and soul, allowing her to be reborn.
  • The Corruption: As a side effect of eating evil spirits sent by the Six Gods of Sin, she becomes a lot stronger, but is also driven further into madness and rotted from the inside out by the corruption they carry. While he has no intention of accepting her wedding proposal, Seimei, feeling partly responsible for her condition, resolves to save her from it. By forcing her to confront her past and accept all aspects of her personality, both weak and strong, she is able to repair her soul and drive out the corruption.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Her father was abusive and only cared for her because he had a use for her. Her mother was murdered by her father because she tried to protect her from him. Her fellow villagers hated her, thinking of her as a cursed child. As part of the process of treating her, Seimei has to use a spell to witness the darkest memories of her past.
  • Disease Bleach: Due to the strain of curing her corruption, her lower layer of hair turns silver. She doesn't mind too much since it makes her hair more similar to Seimei's.
  • Facial Horror: Why do her SR and SP forms have stitches at the sides of her mouth? Her father sold her to an Arranged Marriage purely for financial benefits, knowing she would be abandoned later and not caring whether she lived or died. Her fiance taunted her about it. Neither courageous nor cruel enough to kill them in revenge, she opposed them by damaging her face, ruining her marriage prospects out of spite.
  • Fisher King: When she recovers from The Corruption, her forest recovers with her and the invading evil spirits flee in terror.
  • Hates Being Alone: A fear instilled in her by her emotionally abusive father.
  • One-Hit Polykill: Her normal attack can kill multiple weak enemies in one turn, making her useful for clearing low level areas quickly with no need for an orb provider.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: She has red eyes, is mentally unstable, and infected by The Corruption.
  • Yandere: She remains as hopelessly in love with Seimei as ever and murderously jealous of anyone else he cares for. Too bad for her, even if she were still sane, Seimei is a Celibate Hero with no interest in love. He only interacts with her at all because he has a responsibility to cleanse The Corruption she has been infected with.
    Kuusou Menreiki
Voiced by: Kana Hanazawa
The SP version of SSR Menreiki. After finally reconciling her opposing natures, Menreiki had a Split-Personality Merge back into a single person, albeit occupying one of two different bodies at a time.
  • Amnesia Loop: Dark Seimei makes a deal with her to save Yuki-onna. In return, Menreiki asks him to participate in her play for her entertainment without using any Onmyoji spells to protect himself from Mind Manipulation. The play repeats over and over again without Dark Seimei or his companions remembering it, until the memories finally get engraved on Yuki-onna's soul, making her immune to further rewrites and letting her know how to end the play.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Her main ability in battle is to bypass the opponent's defense.
  • A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing: At first glance, her human personality seems innocent and naive, while her spirit personality seems manipulative and cunning. But the human personality was the one that ate the souls of the masks and murdered her own father, now living in denial of it. The spirit personality wants her original personality to accept her and is too soft-hearted to force it, not even noticing that the human personality is deceiving her.
  • Child of Two Worlds: She is partially a spirit, partially still human, constantly vacillating between both. One of her personalities thinks that there is nothing wrong with being a spirit, the other cannot accept that she isn't quite human anymore.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Sometimes, her skin is drawn with a normal complexion, but it is usually drawn as a pale gray.
  • Empty Shell: Due to the Split-Personality Merge, there is almost nothing of the black personality left, and her body is always sleeping. The only reason there is anything left at all is because Menreiki couldn't bear to let her completely disappear.
  • Epiphanic Prison: She is trapped in a Dreamland of her own making, endlessly repeating a Vicious Cycle of the black personality chasing the white personality. Even if she manages to escape the impossibly vast mansion, the Unnaturally Looping Location simply sends her back inside. It is only by finally acknowledging her delusions and sins that she is finally able to escape.
  • Evil Mask: Her masks can use Mind Manipulation on their victims and force those that wear them to perform in a play.
  • The Hermit: She considers what's left of her black personality to be the only company she wants or needs. Aside from drawing in other people to perform as actors in her Dreamland play, she keeps entirely to herself.
  • I Reject Your Reality: Her human personality refuses to acknowledge that she killed her father, devoured the masks, and is no longer entirely human. She instead chooses to believe that her spirit personality is up to something nefarious.
  • It Amused Me: Nowadays, she spends all her time running a play in Dreamland that reenacts her previous internal conflicts. She frequently drags others into her play to serve as actors. She doesn't have the heart to let them die for real, but the nightmares still leave them traumatized.
  • Jekyll & Hyde: Her original personality, the one in white, is naive and seemingly the Jekyll. The new personality, the one in black that was created when she became a spirit, is seemingly the Hyde. One of her masks however, suspects that the truth is the other way around.
  • Kill One, Others Get Stronger: She gets stronger as she claims souls from defeated enemies and allies.
  • Literal Split Personality: She has two different personalities, and thanks to Seimei's help, they now have separate vessels despite technically being different parts of the same person. One personality couldn't accept what she did or became and prefers her human nature. The other personality had to take the burden that her other self did not and is fine with being a spirit.
  • Merger of Souls: She is a fusion of the original Menreiki's soul and the souls of the masks she ate. Ironically enough, Menreiki's original soul is itself partially split.
  • Soul Power: She can use the souls of defeated enemies to boost herself in gameplay. She can also modify souls in-story. Dark Seimei ends up making a deal with her to save Yuki-onna from being melted to death by her increasingly developed emotions, which Menreiki does by modifying the shape of Yuki-onna's soul.
  • Split-Personality Merge: The two Menreiki's ultimately accept one another and (mostly) merge back into a single person.
  • Was Once a Man: She was originally a normal human, but is now partially a spirit. The human personality is unable to accept what she has become. The spirit personality is actually the kinder and saner of the two.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!:
    • She ate the souls of her masks, placing them under her control.
    • The explanation for how she becomes stronger as enemies and allies are defeated.
    Matsuyoi Ubume
Voiced by: Toa Yukinari
The SP version of SR Ubume, who has founded a village and dedicated herself to training the children she is protecting so that they can protect themselves when they leave her.
  • Bird People: Her current form looks mostly human, but she still has wings in place of arms.
  • Empty Nest: As some of the children of her village grow up and leave, she wishes that a rainstorm could keep them there even one more day.
  • Feather Fingers: What she holds her umbrella with.
  • For Your Own Good: One of her adopted children escaped her protection to pursue his dreams, only to be killed by a monster. Distraught and realizing that she wouldn't be able to protect the children forever, she resolved to forcibly teach the children of the village she was protecting how to defend themselves, despite fully expecting many of them to hate her for it. While some of them were rebellious at first, they came to appreciate why she was doing it and gifted her her new outfit.
    Mujin Yamausagi
Voiced by: Aki Toyosaki
The SP version of R Yamausagi. While lost in Dream Land, her dream self manifests as a grownup ninja. The real Yamausagi proceeds to spend a lot of time sleeping so that Ninja Yamausagi can secretly protect the dreams of her city from invading monsters.
  • Dream Sue: In Yamausagi's own words, Ninja Yamausagi is an idealized version of her. Nevertheless, the real Yamausagi manages to defeat her dream self, even though in theory, the ninja version should have been stronger.
  • Dream Walker: She can actually shift her dream self between reality and Dream Land. Enmusabi takes advantage of it to send out distant deliveries to hard to reach places.
  • Identity Amnesia: Getting lost in the world of dreams causes her to forget her true identity.
  • Magical Guide: A ball shaped version of Mr. Frog acts as her guide to Dream Land.
  • Older Alter Ego: Yamausagi's dream self is basically an adult version of her.
  • Other Me Annoys Me: When Ninja Yamausagi challenges the real Yamausagi to a fight, the real Yamausagi accuses her of bullying her.
  • Protectorate: The real Yamausagi has been using her dream self to protect the city of Heian-kyō from invading monsters attacking everyone's dreams.
    Negai Tsumugi Enmusubi no Kami
Voiced by: Sora Amamiya
The SP version of SSR Enmusabi.
  • Gods Need Prayer Badly: After fleeing from the city of the gods, Enmusabi only had just enough followers to keep herself alive, and with the end of the world approaching, she soon lacked enough power to even do that. But at the brink of death, all of the bonds between herself and everyone else gives her new strength.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Most of humanity is dead, at the hands of Orochi and Izanami's corruption of the land and even the afterlife has been destroyed. To protect their souls, Enmusabi releases the last of her divine power.
  • She Is All Grown Up: Her age varies depending on how much divine power she's stockpiled, and her default form appears to have reached adulthood.
    Oniō Shuten-dōji
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/341skin1.png
Voiced by: Shūhei Sakaguchi (JP), Kang Ho-cheol (KR)
ID: No. 341

  • Alpha Strike: Due to his special ability's on-turn HP penalty, if the player fails to mount a meaningful attack and wipe the enemy team off the field, and the opposite side happens to have Onikiri, Oniō Shuten-dōji will end up harming his team more than he does them good, since the initial burn is more than enough to proc an extra slash, and guaranteeing a follow-up as well.
  • Colony Drop: Downplayed in his "sitting" mode, where Oniō Shuten-dōji simply flings a comet the size of a softball at the enemy. Played straight in his Oniō mode, where he will hurl chunks of rock at his enemies that are so large they cause Splash Damage on landing.
  • Cool Chair: Oniō Shuten-dōji brings his entire demon king throne with him into battle, and will sit on it until he enters Oniō mode.
  • Dump Stat: Effect RES obviously, as he has the unique distinction of being immune to all CC anyway.
  • Lightning Bruiser: He both hits hard and is very fast. Coupled with his No Selling of all CC effects, Oniō Shuten-dōji's main purpose in PvP is to act as a secondary pull/pusher, as his special ability lets him shunt everyone on the other team down the move bar and letting his allies attack first.
  • Monster-Shaped Mountain: defeated one of these to become the Demon King. Mount Oe used to be the most powerful demon of the Demon Domain before the newly-turned demon Shuten conquered it and made it his demon throne.
  • No-Sell: In his default sitting stance, Oniō Shuten-dōji is flat-out immune to all controlling effects. All of it. The trade-off to this is that all healing effects on him are only half as powerful.
    • When entering Oniō stance, he also imparts this No Selling onto his teammates, with the caveat of burning off 24% of their current HP but making them completely immune to damage for a single turn.
  • Semi-Divine: The mythical Shuten-doji was the son of Yamata-no-Orochi (yes, that Orochi). His bios allude to this backstory by calling him the "Divine Child of Mt. Ibuki."
  • Slouch of Villainy: Played with. Oniō Shuten-dōji is at best an Anti-Hero, but his slouched pose while sitting on his throne is worthy of a super villain.
  • Splash Damage: While in Oniō mode, his basic attacks are still single-target, but will deal splash damage to all enemies equal to 20% of the amount taken by his primary target.
  • Stance System: His special skill is a toggle for a two-turn Oniō mode. In this mode, Oniō Shuten-dōji gains a new basic attack, and pushes all enemies down the move bar on top of dispelling some of their buffs, as well as making his allies freaking invulnerable for one turn. If he's upgraded enough, Oniō Shuten-dōji can heal his allies for a percentage of the damage he dealt in Oniō mode, on top of removing their CC effects if the on-turn burn reduces their HP below 30%.
    O'ura Hannya

Voiced by: Yūki Kaji (JP), Kim Hyun-wook (KR, Hannya), Kim Bo-na (KR, Kimono Goddess)
ID: No. 331
The SP version of the SR Hannya and the first one to not be of an SSR-grade shikigami. For tropes on the SR version, see Onmyoji 2016 SR Shikigami.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Enough to give even the resident crossdresser Tamamo-no-Mae a run for his money.
  • Godiva Hair: While he's not actually naked, his long hair does hang down across his scantily-clad body.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: While his 9-mark Sealing Realm is active, enemies who use orb-consuming abilities are damaged by 7% of their current HP for every orb used.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Hannya has stripped down to even more revealing clothing since he went SP, dressed in the quivalent of a tiny tank top and booty shorts, as well as a loose robe he wears off his shoulders. The Kimono Goddess has prominently-displayed cleavage as well.
  • Impossibly-Low Neckline: The Kimono Goddess who accompanies SP Hannya has her trademark kimono hanging very low off her shoulders.
  • The Power of Hate: All 3 of his abilities are named and themed after grudges and revenge.
    • He has a 40% chance of gaining a Grudge mark whenever an enemy crits, and his third ability automatically gives him 3. With 9 of them he could activate his second ability to seal the passives and mitama effects of everybody on the opposite team until the marks expire or are destroyed. This ability can be upgraded for him to automatically gain 3 marks when an ally dies, and the level 4 effect doubles the mark chance to 80%.
  • Useless Useful Spell: With a 9-mark Sealing Realm on, every enemy who uses orbs will be damaged by 7% of their current HP for every orb consumed, so those who like to spam their abilities should be hit the hardest. Sounds great? Not quite. By its nature, this ability can never kill an enemy by itself, the damage cap notwithstanding, since it only subtracts 7% from their current HP amount, which always leaves them with some health left no matter how low. To put it into perspective, this has practically the same health-damaging effect as Zashiki Warashi's special ability.
    • It is, however, arguably more useful than the damaging effect itself, since it also seals away some of the more annoying passives and mitama effects, on top of lowering an afflicted enemy's Crit by 15%.
    Reikai Kingyo-hime
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/346skin1.png
Voiced by: Maaya Uchida
ID: No. 346

  • Combat Medic: She heals her allies and also puts out quite impressive damage,.
  • Damage-Increasing Debuff: Destiny stacks. Enemies marked with Destiny will take increased damage from her special ability, provided it actually hits them due to its random targeting. At skill level 3, the damage is massive, up to 300% of Reikai Kingyo-hime's ATK stat.
  • Fragile Speedster: Reikai Kingyo-hime is very fast due to her S-ranked base SPD, but both her HP and DEF are sub-par.
  • She Is All Grown Up: Well mostly grown up anyway. SR Kingyo-hime is a childlike Bratty Half-Pint, while her SP self is a pretty teenage girl. This isn't a consequence of aging, rather of her coming into her full power as the new ruler of Arakawa and the responsibility to protect everyone that this entails.
  • Walking the Earth: In her bio, she leaves the Arakawa River to explore the world for a while.
  • White Mage: Despite her serviceable ATK, Reikai Kingyo-hime's main shtick is her ability to passively heal her allies at the end of their turns while her special is active. Her kit also covers team pulling, as well as dispelling their debuffs if upgraded.

  • Critical Hit Class: His Crit value is one of the highest out there, at 15% base. Only Gyōrō Arakawa-no-Aruji with his SS-ranked Crit has a higher starting value.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: Not "difficult" in the sense that he's mechanically confusing, but because he needs a good combination of Crit, Crit damage, raw damage and SPD to reach his peak. Due to how his passive works, he should ideally be the first attacker shikigami to move, as the fewer enemies there are left, the lower his total damage would be. This makes him awkward to use against lone targets with a lot of HP, as his attacks will not hit as hard as they would when there are other enemies around to buff his passive. He is also more Mana-hungry than other shikigami owing to his 4-orb special, instead of the usual 3.
  • Evil Hand: Not that Ibaraki-dōji himself is a beacon of virtue, but his signature arm used to be quite rebellious, and threatened to assimilate his own mind until a mysterious onmyōji who is strongly implied to be Seimei's father put a charm on it to suppress its power. It turns out that his hand was possessed by a shard of Ashura, which eventually transfers itself from Ibaraki-dōji's arm to Taishakuten.
  • Herd-Hitting Attack: His is the reverse of his SSR form. Rengoku Ibaraki-dōji's special hits all targets at once, dealing massive damage onto all of them, and then if an enemy dies to it, a giant demonic arm them appears to crush the one with the most HP remaining. It actually gets more powerful the more enemies are hit by it, and if his passive is maxed out and his special kills an enemy, the summoned demonic hand gets another free hit, dealing damage equal to the excess amount from said kill.
    • It should be noted that he is a lot better at dealing with big mobs of enemies compared to his SSR form, but the reverse is true when single-target nuking is involved, as Rengoku Ibaraki-dōji relies on hitting many targets at once for his passive buff to kick in, and cannot stack damage to pound on a single beefy unit.
    Rokumei Ōtakemaru
Voiced by: Nobuhiko Okamoto
After dying at the end of the Sealand Invasion, his spirit returned to his beloved homeland, merging with it and forming a new body.
  • Anti-Regeneration: His normal attack can reduce an opponent's ability to heal.
  • Damage Reduction: In his soul-controlling form, all single-target damage is reduced by 50%. In his reincarnation form, this affects all damage.
  • Genius Loci: His soul merged with Mt. Suzuka after he died.
  • Healing Factor: He recovers health whenever any non-summoned unit is KO'd.
  • Kill One, Others Get Stronger: Not only does he heal every time any non-summoned unit gets KO'd, he enters his reincarnation form after he's lost 3 of them, making him immune to controlling effects, boosting his speed by 100 points, and improving his Damage Reduction. Between his high HP, pre-existing Damage Reduction, and Healing Factor, good luck killing him first.
  • Lightning Bruiser: His Attack, Speed, and Crit are all S rank, and his durability is nothing to laugh at either.
  • Master of All: His HP and Defense are A rank, everything else is S rank.
  • No-Sell: In his soul-controlling form, his resistance to controlling effects rises by 100%, and in his reincarnation form, he becomes completely immune.
  • Purposely Overpowered: He was released at the end of a major storyline, and as of his release, he is easily the strongest shikigami in the game. He is a Lightning Bruiser with a Herd-Hitting Attack that can take down entire teams in 2-3 turns. Normally, such shikigami are Glass Cannons, but he isn't. Between his A ranked HP, Damage Reduction, and Healing Factor, he can easily survive the opponent's counter attack. After entering reincarnation state, he can unleash powerful attacks for no Mana. He can even become resistant to controlling effects, making it difficult to disable him. Any maxed PvP team with Rokumei Ōtakemaru can usually crush any maxed team without one.
  • Status Infliction Attack: His normal attack weakens his target's attack.

    Ryuukou Oitsukigami
The SP version of SR Oitsukigami. After getting trapped in an artificial Dream Land by the Goddess of Lies, she comes to realize that she doesn't need to be a goddess to help people or receive their praise.

    Semigoori Yuki-onna
Voiced by: Ayaka Suwa
Yuki-onna's past self, before she was weakened by experiencing spring for the first time. The present day Yuki-onna briefly encounters a Living Memory of her past. After her heart warms up enough to kill her due to it being a Literal Metaphor, Menreiki reshapes Yuki-onna's soul to adapt to it, restoring her old power.
  • An Ice Person: Being an ice spirit, she can freeze people in solid blocks of ice.
  • Healing Hands: Unlike her present self, she had the power to freeze KO'd allies and eventually restore them to full health.
  • Kimono Fanservice: The most underdressed shikigami in the game, with her light kimono quite literally falling off.
  • Nipple and Dimed: Her kimono has completely slipped off her left shoulder, baring her left breast altogether. However, she seems to have some kind of star pattern on her frozen skin that resembles nipple pasties, and her entire body below the neck is transparent ice anyway, so it's debatable whether there's even anything to see.
  • Poor Communication Kills: She guarded the Flower of Eternity, which had tremendous healing powers. Many humans came to her to beg for or demand its petals, unaware that they would never be able to control them. Having a poor understanding of humanity, she gave them the petals freely, wondering why they would want a flower that would freeze them to death and not bothering to explain that to them. On the human side, they simply started to assume that she was an evil spirit that killed humans. When Seimei learned the truth, he decided to put an end to the tragedies by encouraging her to learn more about the outside world.
  • Yuki-onna: As a snow spirit, this is the type of Youkai she is.
    Shinkei Susabi
Voiced by: Daisuke Hirakawa
The SP version of SSR Susabi.
  • God-Emperor: With Amaterasu still in a deep slumber, and the previous stand-in, Tsukuyomi (Actually the Goddess of Lies substituting for the real one), revealed to be a traitor and sealed, Susabi, the true Tsukuyomi, has taken their place as temporary ruler of the gods.
  • God of the Moon: He is a moon god. To be specific, he is the true Tsukuyomi, but goes by Susabi instead due to Amaterasu forcibly awakening him artificially, with one of her avatars giving him that name before the truth was exposed.
  • Screw Destiny: He treats prophecy as a form of guidance, but will not follow his predictions blindly and is willing to defy them when necessary.
  • Seers: As per his title of Divine Prophet, he can predict the future.
  • Star Power: His powers are drawn from the stars.

Voiced by: Ryōko Shiraishi (JP), Kim Young-eun (KR)
ID: No. 315
The younger self of the mighty Ōtengu, and the first ever SP shikigami added to the game.
  • Dub Name Change: The EN version of the game renames him into "Ōtengu Jr.", thus erroneously implying him to be the son of the original Ōtengu instead of his younger self. It has since been changed again to "Jr. Ōtengu" which, although makes a little bit more sense, still doesn't explain how he's still referred to as "great" tengu, even though he's a youngling.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: As the first ever SP, Young Ōtengu has a rather lame set of abilities compared to the flashier ones released after him. It's not that it's bad or anything. His kit is roughly similar to his SSR self, in fact, but with an arguably worse passive since the lack of Shelter means he's rather easy to lockdown with CC. He is also the first SP to be voiced by someone else instead of his original actor.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": An issue with his title being an epithet used to denote powerful and large tengu instead of an actual name.
  • Fragile Speedster/Glass Cannon: An even bigger one compared to his older self, with C-grade HP and DEF, and A-grade ATK and SPD. And after the update to his passive, he's capable of becoming even faster.
  • Gathering Steam: Realising that he was rather underwhelming, he was given an update similar to the one his SSR self previously received. However, rather than increasing damage output, every time he inflicts damage he gains +1 SPD, up to a maximum of +80, which would make him one of the fastest shikis in the entire game. Additionally, if he reaches +80 then the orb cost of his Feather Wind Blade is reduced by 1, making it easier for him to be able to afford it as he gets more and more turns.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Apparently he's named Ōtengu even as a fledgling yōkai, when he's got neither the strength nor stature worthy of the title.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. You could slot both the young and old Ōtengu into a single team, but considering the need for varied utility in the current meta, why would you?
  • Power Up Let Down: Not mechanics-wise, since he and his SSR self are two separate shikigami, but in-universe. It's a weird case, and it goes both ways.
    • The SSR Ōtengu is supposed to be his older, wiser and more powerful form, hence the name, but he has comparatively worse ATK and SPD compared to his younger self because of his lower rarity, and his special attack deals lower damage overall.
    • On the flip side of the coin, the SP Ōtengu is younger and hasn't proven his mettle yet, but is more powerful in a direct fight. But whereas he has superior ATK and SPD, the stats that are inferior to his older self are way worse, despite him being of a higher rarity where better stats are entirely justified. His passive is okay for direct fights, but the lack of a CC No-Sell in the form of Shelter is rather hard to eat at high tiers of PvP, where CC is king.

    Shura Kidoumaru
The SP form of SSR Kidoumaru. After absorbing the madness of Demon City, he has embraced his demonic nature completely.
  • Blood Knight: He lives entirely for the hunt. Nothing else in life can satisfy him anymore.
  • Self-Made Orphan: He feasts on the blood of his demon father and human mother.

Voiced by: Hikaru Midorikawa (JP), Kang Ho-cheol (KR)

  • Damage-Increasing Debuff: Enemies tagged by Sōfū Ichimokuren's Dragonfall have a chance to be afflicted with Isolation if the attack causes their HP to fall below 50%, which "primes" them so that subsequent damage dealt to them cannot be shared or reduced, meaning that for once, Hakuzōsu has met his match. Unless the enemy could shrug it off, nothing can protect them from what's coming next, short of killing Ichimokuren's entire team.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: Making the most out of his kit require putting up shields on multiple allies so that they stack when consumed by his third skill. Unlike his SSR self, Sōfū Ichimokuren cannot shield his entire team on command, and must pick a target to protect, with up to two additional allies on conditionnote . Without these shield layers, his special attack won't deal any extra damage beyond the standard amount, and the associated debuff will not stick.
  • Fragile Speedster: S-ranked ATK and SPD, but A-grade HP and D-grade DEF. There are some N-grade shikigami and darumas that are tougher than him DEF-wise.
  • Glass Cannon: Compared to his SSR self, Azure Wind Ichimokuren has vastly superior ATK and SPD, in exchange for lower HP and DEF overall. This is to facilitate the new mechanics of his shield, whereby their protection values are calculated after his own ATK instead of HP, and will stack multiple times to be consumed by his special ability to deal heavy damage to the enemy team.
  • Mr. Fanservice: This form is first introduced in his character PV with a shot focusing lovingly on his bare chest and torso courtesy of his low kimono collar.
  • Puzzle Boss: His Secret zone turns him into one. Starting from stage 3, Sōfū Ichimokuren will be protected by a constant effect that reduces all incoming attacks to dealing Scratch Damage against him, necessitating that the player find the minions with specific sigils on the other side and boost them up the move bar in the order defined on the screen. Upon doing so, Sōfū Ichimokuren will begin to take damage as normal while being stunned for three turns. The final stage is the same deal, although the sigil progression will be wiped if the player messes up, but otherwise it's a surprisingly easy Secret zone to conquer.

    Tenken Jinshin Onikiri
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/343skin1.png
Voiced by: Mitsuki Saiga (JP, until May 2020), Mariya Ise (JP), Kim Do-young (KR)
ID: No. 343

  • Armor-Piercing Attack: His third ability rends 20% of an enemy's DEF, and marks them with the Danger debuff, which causes all damage dealt by Tenken Jinshin Onikiri or his shadow double in the next attack to ignore all shields and not trigger passive or mitama effects. Danger persists for two turns, or until the target is hit by Tenken Jinshin Onikiri.
  • Crippling Overspecialisation: The reason SP Onikiri is considered unusuable is that he really only does one thing- single target damage, and not even that overwhelmingly spectacular single target damage either. All his other abilities are inexplicably defensive. An even moderately tanky team setup can literally just ignore him until he's the last one standing, then finish him at their leisure.
  • Damage Reduction: Tenken Jinshin Onikiri passively resists 20% of all incoming damage. This can be increased to 30% at skill level 2.
  • Last Chance Hit Point: At Shinken: Jinshin level 5, Tenken Jinshin Onikiri gains a passive that lets him shrug off fatal damage once per battle and healing himself for 10% of his max HP. It also renders him completely immune to critical hits for one turn.
  • No-Sell: Tenken Jinshin Onikiri becomes completely immune to CC effects when Shinken: Jinshin is activated. He also has a 30% chance to block an enemy's basic attack and completely negates all damage that would come with it, capping at 60% at skill level 3 with Shinken: Jinshin active.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: He's considered pretty useless, and he's miles behind his horrifically broken SSR form in both effectiveness and popularity.
  • Self-Duplication: Upon using Shinken: Jinshin, Tenken Jinshin Onikiri will mark a target with Kagekiri and summon a shadow clone that will join him if he attacks the marked enemy.

    Ukiyo Aoandon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/348skin1.png
Voiced by: Nana Mizuki
ID: No. 348

  • Fragile Speedster: Downplayed on the "fragile" part, since her HP is quite high, but her DEF is a bit concerning at a mere B-rank. Ukiyo Aoandon makes up for this by having very high base SPD, which synergizes well with her kit, allowing her to debuff a pull or pusher and crimp the enemy team's opening by ramping up their orb costs, that will directly benefit her if they try to grin and bear it. Her defence also increases with each orb she collects.
  • Gathering Steam: Ukiyo Aoandon's full strength requires some setting up before she can reach her full potential. Her gimmick is that she collects onibi layers from her allies using their own special skills, and enemies under her Fire Stealer debuff who try to do the same, up to 100 layers. The more layers she builds, the more DEF and Effect RES she gains, up to 100% at max stack, which also unlocks access to a world-shattering Herd-Hitting Attack that hits the enemy team 4 times for 1200% of her ATK each hit, with the damage being distributed evenly across all targets. Even a full team of 5 enemy shikis and an Onmyoji is still taking a total of 800% of her A-ranked attack each; if there are fewer targets the damage escalates even higher as it gets more concentrated. If you can fire off Final Chapter in a duel, it's effectively an Instant-Win Condition- just don't expect to be able to do it that often.

    Yomei Higanbana
Voiced by: Sayaka Ohara
After Enma finally decided that Higanbana posed an unacceptable risk to The Underworld, she tried to burn her to death, only for Higanbana to survive by taking on a new form.
  • Artificial Stupidity: Her main attack requires her to use her special ability every other turn to burrow underground in order to release it's full power. Her AI originally buried her automatically, but stopped doing so after an update, now requiring the player to bury her by hand.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: She has been described as having very different morals from those of humans due to being a spirit.
  • Deal with the Devil: She devours souls to become stronger, removing them from the cycle of Reincarnation and causing Cessation of Existence. Nevertheless, she doesn't take them by force. She offers them a wish in good faith that they desire above their own soul.
  • Pet the Dog: In return for his loyalty, she releases the souls of Gashadokuro's former soldiers back into the cycle of reincarnation.
  • Soul Eating: She places souls inside a dream land and slowly digests their memories into flower foam to become stronger, erasing them from the cycle of Reincarnation and causing Cessation of Existence.
  • Stone Wall: Her main strength is her ability to hide herself underground. Generally speaking, whoever attacks first wins, making it important to setup a Fragile Speedster Glass Cannon. Higanbana starts underground from the very beginning, making her temporarily invulnerable to all attacks and allowing her to weather said assault if you find yourself unable to beat your opponent in speed.

    Zenshin Ungaikyou
Voiced by: Ayumu Murase
The SP version of SSR Ungaikyou. After performing a Heroic Suicide to save humanity as Orochi forces them to put Humanity on Trial, Seimei has salvaged their essence to resurrect them.
  • Bishōnen Line: Their empowered form looks fully human, unlike their SSR form, which are more like human shadows.
  • Came Back Strong: Seimei uses a spell to salvage their souls before they can become Deader than Dead and brings them to the temple where they were born, using the memories left behind to resurrect them in a stronger form.
  • Fusion Dance: Yin merges his body with Yang's, declaring that from now on, they will be the same person.
  • Was Once a Man: Yin was always a spirit, born from a Magic Mirror, but Yang was originally a human Buddhist monk.
