Voiced by: Makoto Koichi, Jun Fukuyama (previous life) (Japanese), Meg McClain, Travis Mullenix (previous life) (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lloyd_de_saloum.png

The titular 7th Prince of the Kingdom of Saloum. Initially a meager mage in his previous life, Lloyd was reincarnated into the same world and country as a talented, adorable mage prince with limitless potential.

  • Accidental Pervert: He occasionally gets into erotic accidents with older women, like bumping into Sylpha's breasts while she's changing.
  • The Ace: There is seemingly no magic Lloyd cannot perform. He is capable of mastering any magic, some after seeing it only once, and is as talented as a physical combatant as he is a mage.
  • Addictive Magic: At times his fixation with magic and learning about new spells has suggestive undertones. His reaction to Grim injuring his finger during their fight borders on sadomasochism, if only because he got to be injured by a spell he hasn't seen before.
  • Afraid of Their Own Strength: After blowing the castle wall away as a newborn, Lloyd is notably paranoid about properly cutting loose. Though it's less "fear" than it is "not wanting to draw attention so he could study magic in peace."
  • Badass Adorable: He's cute and has a frightening amount of magic power he loves experimenting with.
  • Blood Knight: Whenever he has a magic battle with a strong opponent, Lloyd gets really into it, in alarming contrast to his regular childish behavior.
  • Blue Is Heroic: He's the blue-haired hero wearing blue clothes.
  • Boyish Shorts: He's a young boy and always wears shorts.
  • Celibate Hero: In spite of his mental age, Lloyd expresses no interest in the women who throw themselves at him. He is purely magic sexual: magic is his drive.
  • Child Prodigy: He was reborn with an incredible talent for magic and is already a genius at a young age.
  • Combat Sadomasochist: When fighting a new opponent, his first instinct is to disable all defenses just to check how much it'll hurt, and when his finger gets blendered he creepily licks it. Grimoire sometimes even has to remind him of his mortality because Lloyd can get way too excited over it.
  • Comically Invincible Hero: Lloyd's magic level is god-tier, which makes it extremely comical when Smug Snake Majin assumes he won't last in combat.
  • Deliberate Under-Performance: He purposefully misses his targets at the magic practice to not draw too much attention, since he prefers keeping a low profile and focusing on learning magic. Albert, however, can tell that "barely missing" all targets is suspicious in itself, and Lloyd's non-combat applications of magic quickly become known.
  • Ditzy Genius: In a sense; Lloyd is generally good at parsing social situations and inferring things, but his problem lies in his single-minded focus on magic at the detriment of everything else. This can lead to him not thinking about the greater consequences of some of his experiments until it's impossible to ignore them, such as testing out a spellcasting method that winds up blowing a conspicuous hole in the atmosphere because he didn't consider trying it out elsewhere.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: He could be mistaken for a girl due to his cute looks.
  • Fanboy: Lloyd is nuts for anything magic and studies anything magical with childish excitement.
  • For Science!: He's a magic fanboy and all his interests relate to studying various applications of magic. Demons often comment that he has the eyes of someone who views others as lab rats.
  • Horrifying the Horror: Multiple times, and each time a demon who is supposed to send fear throughout the realm of humans, shivers in fear at the abyss that is Lloyd's mana pool. Even demons of the highest echelon fear Lloyd's dense magical power.
  • Humanoid Abomination: How Lloyd's magical power makes those who can feel it see him; it is dense, yet immensely huge, dark, and seemingly evil. Even demons question his status as a human.
  • Instant Expert: He instantly masters Ki Manipulation after seeing Tao use it, and quickly surpasses her even though she trained her entire life to reach her level.
  • Jack of All Trades: As far as magic is concerned, he easily masters Magical Incantation, Ki Manipulation (despite it being explicitly different from normal magic), Magic Enhancement, Beast taming, and keeps looking for other skills.
  • Kid Hero: He's the main hero while still being a 10-year-old boy.
  • Kung-Fu Wizard: He combines magic with the Ki Manipulation techniques he learned from Tao.
  • Leg Focus: The anime gives him really shapely and toned legs that are always on display because of his shorts.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: He's a cute boy with long hair tied into a ponytail.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: No one should underestimate him for his small body and young age, because he's possibly the most powerful mage in the world.
  • Power Copying: Lloyd can Trace someone's unique abilities after analyzing them, so he can use their moves later.
  • Sensor Character: He as Robert learns Spectral Detection from Tao, which works like a radar. Unfortunately for Lloyd, Tao can also sense if someone else is using it, which makes it a problem if he wants to keep his Robert persona a secret.
  • Sexier Alter Ego: He can turn into a Pretty Boy form named Robert by mixing two disguise spells, which is a mix of himself and his older brother Albert.
  • Slasher Smile: He's prone to grinning with sharp teeth when he goes crazy in magic battles.
  • Superpower Lottery: While magic is commonplace, Lloyd's capacity is effectively limitless. He knows hundreds of practical spells, each pushed to their limits and has automated them to be cast nearly simultaneously, with multipliers going through Serial Escalation.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: Due to dying as an adult and retaining his memories, Lloyd does not act the way a child typically should, knowing the language from the get-go and rejecting breast milk; this is illustrated at the start when he fights Grimoire and basks in the pain of the magic before proceeding to want to torture the demon.
  • Youngest Child Wins: He was reborn as the youngest prince of the royal family and is by far the most talented and powerful at magic. However, he wants to subvert this trope to avoid unneeded attention so he can keep focused on magic. It helps that he is 7th in line, so most people assume he Can't Catch Up.

  • Cool Big Bro: He has a great relationship with his younger brother, frequently doting on Lloyd, and views him as incredibly capable in spite of his young age.

  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: He has blond hair and is always kind to those around him.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: He's a kindhearted prince with bright blue eyes.

Voiced by: Fairouz Ai, Akio Ōtsuka (original form) (Japanese), Sara Ragsdale, Jim Foronda (original form) (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/grim_dainanaoji.png

A third-rank demon, Grimoire was initially sealed under the Saloum Palace centuries ago. After being utterly beaten and terrified by Lloyd, Grim has become his familiar.

  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Despite considering leaving very early on, Lloyd's seeming genuine gratitude and affection for Grim made him want to stay as his familiar.
  • Becoming the Mask: Grimoire stayed with Lloyd only to find an opportunity to steal Lloyd's body, but figuring it's practically impossible, and Lloyd has been treating him with kindness, he discards his ambition
  • Body Double: Using a wooden replica, Lloyd can let Grimoire possess his clone in cases where Lloyd needs someone to stand in for him.
  • Butt-Monkey: Being close to Lloyd most of the time, he's often used as a commentary on just how weak he is by comparison, and he accepts his offer to be the latter's familiar/lab rat.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: After Lloyd brutally defeats him in a magic battle, Grimoire becomes his familiar and friend.
  • Demonic Possession: Initially attempted to steal Lloyd's body but it didn't work due to the immense gap between Lloyd and the rest of the world.
  • Equippable Ally: Due to a unique ability of Double Incantation, Lloyd sometimes merges him with his can to boost his powers.
  • Familiar: He becomes Lloyd's familiar after being defeated by him.
  • Good Costume Switch: After deciding to stay with Lloyd, his appearance changes from a black Gruesome Goat to white and Fun Size.
  • Hot in Human Form: Grimoire can take a human form, and it is as adorable and beautiful as Lloyd and others are portrayed to be.
  • Informed Attribute: Grimoire was sealed away after some undisclosed event where he nearly destroyed Saloum. He also claims to know a lot of lost magic, and is later revealed to be the third most powerful Majin. His fight with Lloyd amounts to pretty much spamming black flames, and after becoming Lloyd's familiar there's nothing he can teach or help with.
  • In-Series Nickname: Lloyd nicknames him as "Grim".
  • Light Is Not Good: His Fun Size form is pale, cuter, and adorable. But he is still an evil Majin.
  • Metaphorically True: Grimoire initially tells Lloyd that he'll teach him some ancient magic if he's unsealed, which he does by attacking Lloyd.
  • More Teeth than the Osmond Family: In his true form, his mouth is littered with fangs. When he doubles his head, this is even more so.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: His Sleep-Mode Size form looks like an adorable baby goat.
  • Sir Swearsalot: Grimoire is prone to swearing.
  • Sleep-Mode Size: One of his powers is transforming into a cuter form, resembling Kero from Cardcaptor Sakura.
  • Starter Villain: He's Lloyd's first opponent who he beats into submission with ease.
  • Tome of Eldritch Lore: As is his namesake, Grimoire initially appears as a forbidden book on ancient magic.
  • Tsundere: Towards Lloyd. He claims that he only pretends to get along with him so he can take his revenge on him later, but it's clear he likes being Lloyd's familiar more than he would like to admit.
  • Undying Loyalty: He pretends otherwise, but Grim has truly become taken with and loyal to Lloyd.

A maid who works for the royal family of Saloum. She serves as an educator and bodyguard of Lloyd, whom she adores.

  • Badass Teacher: She's Lloyd's swordsmanship teacher and she'll cut down anyone who even looks at her dear student wrong.
  • Bodyguard Crush: One of her jobs is being Lloyd's bodyguard and she absolutely adores him, to the point where Albert believes she harbors romantic feelings for Lloyd.
  • Bodyguarding a Badass: Lloyd is such an overpowered mage that he doesn't really need a bodyguard, but Sylpha still gladly takes the job to slash those who threaten him.
  • Covert Pervert: She tries to act proper in front of Lloyd, but still gets amorous fantasies about him.
  • Dual Wielding: She's a master of the Dual Blade Art.

  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: She has no reservations about showing her body in front of Lloyd.

  • Yandere: Her affection towards Lloyd can often get unprofessional, keeps monitoring his physical growth, and she tries to execute anyone who she even suspects to cause harm to him.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shiro_dainanaoji.png

  • Big Friendly Dog: No longer being under the control of Pazuzu, Shiro is like a very lovable and playful puppy with the size of a bear.

Assassin's Guild / Noroware

    In General
  • Bad Powers, Bad People: Their abilities make them great assassins, which is what they've chosen to be due to lack of better options. Lloyd calls them out that even still, poison mastery for example would also be useful for an apothecary.
  • Not Evil, Just Misunderstood: Being wanted criminals, when they first appear they are treated like a classical Quirky Miniboss Squad. Then it turns out they are assassins only because their Power Incontinence makes it difficult for them to have other jobs, and Jade has been working separately to learn if they can live a normal life. They only attack Lloyd due to a misunderstanding that he's been supporting a war.
  • Power Incontinence: The main flaw behind the magical abilities of the Assassins Guild that Lloyd encounters, who are all a Noroware; At most they've learned how the power works and can be triggered, but the effects are generally indiscriminate and can as harmful to themselves or their allies. Lloyd changes the equation completely, after hearing their story, by inscribing a magical tattoo on each member that corrects the issue, granting them near full control of their abilities and the chance to live a proper life, for which they swear Undying Loyalty to Lloyd.
  • Undying Loyalty: After Lloyd fixes their Power Incontinence and their outlaw status, they all become his subordinates.

    Darkness Crane Crow
  • Gravity Master: Crow can make opponents to be pressed o the ground when talking to them.

Voiced by: Setsuji Sato (Japanese)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pazuzu_i_was_reincarnated_as_the_7th_prince_so_i_can_take_my_time_perfecting_my_magical_ability_1.png
