Characters / Halkegenia Online Imps

Go To

Slight of build but incredibly nimble and fast. They can build up their strength, but most tend to be high speed fighters, or else mages like Zolf. They have an aversion to bright lights, but again, they're as happy to get out in a sunny day as anyone, just remember to bring a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses. That said, they really do love being out at night.

  • Homefield Advantage: Imps are the only race that can fly underground.
  • The Power of the Void: Thanks to Louise's role in the Transition, all the Fairies apparently have traces of the Void element, but according to the Spirit of Ragdorian Lake from her observations of Yuuki, it's particularly strong in the Imps.
  • Super-Senses: They can see in the dark as easily as in the day.

Zolf

Lord of the Imps. Count of Domeeska.

The elected leader of the Imps. He tends to remain quiet in large discussions and has misgivings about the Fae becoming involved in Tristain's war with Albion.
  • Actual Pacifist: Even after hearing what Reconquestia planned to do to the Fae, he was against sending Imp soldiers to support Tristain's defense effort.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: The quiet, gentle Lord of the Imps just happens to have as his personal guards the Hogei-sen, one of the deadliest and most feared Assassin's Guilds in all of ALO. He is also a very formidable Darkness mage in his own right.
    • He comes down on Morgainna harder than nearly everyone else when he learns of her pregnancy.
  • Good Shepherd: He visited the despairing Hogei-sen's guildhall with a cross, a Christian bible and his compassionate soul. He gave them a chance to reform and find a new purpose.
  • Japanese Christian: Frequently carries a cross with him.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: The Hogei-sen despaired because they thought themselves as swords who can only kill. He pointed out that a sword can parry another sword, and thus they can be guardians instead of killers.

Mari

A diminutive imp girl co-running the inn Kirito stays at while in the employ of Lady Sakuya. She is always cheerful and busies around the establishment, cleaning and tending to its small garden.
  • The Confidant: To Kirito on occasion, and probably others. It comes with the job.

Konno Yuuki

Leader of the Sleeping Knights in ALO, she now works as a courier in Halkegenia. She also volunteers at Arrun Home.
  • Genki Girl: She's all the more energetic now that she has a flesh-and-blood body to move around in.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Well, she's certainly not going to die of her disease, at any rate; the Transition saved her life.
  • Survivor Guilt: The Transition saved Yuuki's life by granting her a healthy new body. However, the Transition happened several days too late to do the same for Yuuki's sister.

Hirano Suzu (Rin)

Waitress at the Dicey Cafe. Effectively a teenager.
  • Changeling Tale: What she thinks happened to her.
  • Elder Abuse: Her daughter and granddaughter couldn't cope with looking after her and logged her into ALO to keep her quiet.
  • Fish out of Water: She doesn't have any working memories since about 1960 and has no idea what's going on.
  • Meido: The basis of her outfit when working as a waitress at Cafe Yggdrasil. She changes into something more practical when cleaning.
  • Most Common Super Power: Rin is very curvy. Suzu was not.
  • Scatterbrained Senior: An old woman with severe dementia, now in a new young body with a healthy brain.

Hogei-sen

A former assassins' guild. After the transition they have begun a series of purges to rid their ranks of the weak and unable, and now form an elite guard for Lord Zolf.
  • A Darker Me: Played with, as before the Transition they were an assassins' guild and player killers, and reveled in the infamy this brought them. This is Defied after the Transition as their real-life personas aren't remotely the ruthless murderers they role-played as.
  • Affably Evil: Many people see them as this, as they are very polite and courteous and their reputation as gleeful player-killers lingers despite their reformation.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Many of them took the transition hard, as they were accused of being gankers or murderers, despite many of them actually not being killers and just playing that role online. This lead to many of them either leaving the guild, or planning to kill themselves before Zolf stepped in.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Part of being an assassin is avoiding fair fights.
  • Cool Mask: They wear headgear resembling gas masks as part of their motif. Even other Fae find them unsettling.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Assassins and Player Killers, to the point that the Transition left them with almost nothing else. This, above all else, was what was driving them toward the Despair Event Horizon.
  • I Owe You My Life: The reason they serve Zolf is because he stopped them from crossing the Despair Event Horizon and committing suicide.
  • Professional Killer: Reformed, as they are always quick to point out, but they used to be an assassin guild. Now they are bodyguards.
  • Teleport Spam: The Dark Magic spell Blink. Limits you to only one arm while in use, but one can chain together multiple uses.
  • Undying Loyalty: They will do anything for their Lord Zolf, because he saved them from the Despair Event Horizon by giving them a purpose.
