He's back in... blue?

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/super_godzilla.png
Now I am become death, destroyer of worlds.

Lurching forth from the depths of the waters surrounding Japan, and standing at 50 meters tall, the original Gojira emerged in the mid-1950s with fury in his eyes and hatred in his irradiated heart. He laid waste to Tokyo with a radioactive white flame breath, unreasonable amounts of physical strength, and a complete lack of any vulnerability to conventional weaponry. After striking at Tokyo multiple times, he was slain by the Oxygen Destroyer, a weapon devised by a reluctant Dr. Serizawa that could disintegrate any organic matter. Serizawa died with Gojira, and Tokyo knew peace again, but three years another emerged. This one was wholly different, standing at 80 meters, seeming less aggressive and more grouchy. It was determined to be the son of the original, and was dubbed Godzilla to differentiate between the two since visually they were very similar.

The Big G himself. King of the Monsters, savior of earth, and far and away the most powerful Earthly Kaiju to ever exist. He may seem aggressive, but that would be a mistake; while the original Godzilla was violent and destructive, the current one just wants to live in peace. Unfortunately, life doesn't seem to want that for him.

  • Disappeared Dad: After the atomic tests killed Godzilla's mother, his father(the original Godzilla) went out to get revenge. He never saw his kids again.
  • Dumb Dinos: Averted. He displays legitimate intelligence and personality and even knows some martial arts!
  • It Can Think: Hell yeah. He shows the capacity for mercy, and even strategizes effectively when he's fighting Ghidorah to force his opponent to wear himself down, resulting in Ghidorah being tired and Godzilla being, well, not.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Described as rather grouchy, yet has repeatedly saved humanity. May be a bit downplayed as he's mostly protecting Earth, but since humanity is lumped in there and he doesn't actively hate humans...
  • Missing Mom: Thanks to the atomic tests that turned him and his sister into what they are.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Shinji's shortlived shitshow of a life as a kaiju drives him to consider humans could be right to want him dead. Whether this will persist is unknown.
  • Mythology Gag: Godzilla? A martial artist? More canon than you'd think, if the Showa era is any indication.
    • His usage of the atomic breath to get up and body slam Orga counts as one to the flight scene. Yes. THAT flight scene.
  • There Is No Kill Like Overkill: His finishing attack on Ghidorah, as well as his method of killing Shinji(justified there) and MechaGodzilla. He seems fond of these. Though, in the first two it makes sense considering how the former was Made of Iron, even by kaiju standards, and the latter could heal almost any wound.
  • One-Man Army: Played With. While he can hold his own against multiple opponents, the teamup of Gigan, Megalon and Thunderbuzz is very nearly his undoing.

     Anguirus
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/anguirus.png
Who says brown isn't stylish?

Anguirus is usually a reclusive being; spoken of only in legends and refusing to get involved with the world beyond his home in an old quarry in Japan. However, when Godzilla began a rampage brought on by a regretfully paranoid attack by the Japanese military, Anguirus decided to get his claws dirty. He attacked Godzilla as he tore through Tokyo, using his spikes, teeth, claws and spiked tail tip to compensate for a complete lack of ranged options. Able to stand both upright and on all fours, the dinosaur proved a match for Godzilla. The two eventually stalemated, unable to outdo the other, and Godzilla's mind drifted from his anger and into respect. He left, and Anguirus followed; the two had grown to respect each other, and Godzilla had found a loyal friend and ally in Anguirus.

Godzilla's closest friend and ally. What Anguirus lacks in special powers, he makes up for with sharpened claws, teeth and spikes, as well as a thick armored hide that offers him solid protection.

  • Badass Normal: Lacks any sort of Breath Weapon, yet is a steadfast defender and can go toe to toe with Godzilla with relative ease.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Anguirus' battle with Godzilla prevented Godzilla's rampage from continuing, thereby saving lots of people.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: More akin to a stalemate, but Anguirus and Godzilla became friends following their battle.
  • It Can Think: Anguirus has a strict code of honor he abides by, and actively refuses to fight weaker beings.

     Mothra
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mothra.png
Mosura, ya, Mosura...

Many legends persist the world over, but one has always been difficult to prove; the legend of Mothra. Supposedly, she is a goddess of peace who lives out her days on the mythical Infant Island, watching over the inhabitants and protecting them from the outside world. This Mothra is nothing like the serene, wise protector the world whispers of; she is rambunctious, explorative, and far too eager to pick a fight with the bad guys. One of her journeys into the outside world ended with her caretakers, the Shobijin, being kidnapped, and due to her youth at the time she flew into a rage. She chased down the kidnappers and began to capture and kill people to force them to be returned; eventually, they were given back and Mothra went home. She was, however, given the riot act by the Shobijin and learned to not act so viciously when enraged, but she still finds herself unable to refuse a chance to kick some evil guy's ass.

The legendary Goddess of Peace, the current Mothra is a far more rambunctious take on the original character, almost acting like a superhero instead of a watchful protector.

  • Age Lift: Despite being still an adult Mothra, she is noticeably younger and acts far less controlled; this is implied to be due to every Mothra being a unique entity rather than a rebirth or reincarnation of the previous one.
  • Attack Reflector: By shedding scales from her wings, she can generate an energy field that reflects energy-based attacks.
  • Blow You Away: By flapping her wings, she can generate gale-force winds.
  • Gentle Giant: Averted. In her youth, the Shobijin were kidnapped, and she went on an absolute rampage to get them back. She got read the riot act for this and has since calmed down, but apparently she still can't resist a chance to throw down with a bad guy.
  • Glass Cannon: As far as kaiju go, she definitely has more strength than durability.
  • Grievous Harm with a Body: Apparently, bodyslamming is a valid tactic.
  • Shock and Awe: She can unleash lightning-like energy bolts to carpet bomb enemies.
  • Super-Speed: In flight, she can go at speeds breaching Mach 3.

     Rodan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rodan.png
Personally, he prefers the air.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fire_rodan.png
Through the fire and the flames, we carry on!

Rodan is one of the most arrogant, full-of-himself monsters in existence. But it's not as if that arrogance is wholesale unfounded; he rules the skies, able to maneuver through them with no effort and fly at incredible speeds that are so great that him just passing by is dangerous. For this reason he stays as far up as possible. Internally however, he is afraid. Afraid that when the ancient Megaguirus emerges, he won't be able to strike her down. Much like Mothra, he is one of many Rodans, inheriting the mission of keeping Megaguirus and her brood from taking over the earth.

Rodan rules the skies and knows it; he is cocky, brash, and all too eager to prove his superiority. He later gained a new form in Fire Rodan.

  • Composite Character: Seems to be a combination of Rodan and Fire Rodan initially; ultimately subverted when he becomes Fire Rodan during his fight with Megaguirus.
  • Foil: To Mothra. Both are rambunctious and brash, but while Mothra is humble, heroic, and supportive, Rodan is cocky, selfish, and somewhat of an asshole. However...
  • Hidden Depths: ...his arrogant attitude is a mask to cover for his fear of failure against Megaguirus.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He uses an arrogant attitude to mask his insecurities regarding his arch-nemesis, Megaguirus. After killing her, he gets over this, replaced with genuine confidence.
  • Playing with Fire: Can breathe fire.
  • Super-Speed: Can go at Mach 5 if he wants.

     Jet Jaguar
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jet_jaguar.png
Go Go Power Ra- Wait.

It's the incredible, the unstoppable, the ever-heroic Jet Jaguar! Created as a crime-fighting android following the first appearance of Godzilla, he became a symbol of hope for the downtrodden citizens of the ravaged city of Tokyo. He proved to be a very potent force for good, taking on all manner of criminals and coming out on top. But when Godzilla reemerged, he knew he needed to become something more. And so he turned to his creator, Goro Ibuki, for assistance. After studying the mutagenic effects of G-radiation and how it could be replicated in machinery, he modified his creation to be able to grow to great sizes. And not a moment too soon, for two monsters had touched down overseas and were currently wreaking havoc!

Jet Jaguar, an all-loving, excessively heroic android with size-shifting capabilities created after the first Godzilla's rampage.

  • All-Loving Hero: He deliberately tracks down bullies to offer help in facing their insecurities so they can improve as people.
  • For Great Justice: He was literally created to emulate heroes with this motivation. It worked.
  • Light Is Good: Can manipulate light to fire blasts and form weapons.
  • Super-Speed: His max speed in flight is Mach 3.5.

     Zilla
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zilla.png
Not even good enough to be Goji's fake.

Shinji was far from the only case of Godzilla DNA affecting the development of other creatures. Somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle is an island known only as Skull Island; and on it live many varieties of monsters and prehistoric animals. Among them was the breed of raptor that would become known as the Zillasaurus. When Godzilla found his way to Skull Island following his battle with Ghidorah, the unique brand of radiation he exuded had long-lasting effects within the short range of the area he stayed in, and when a Zillasaurus raptor was exposed to it, it rapidly mutated into some kind of Godzilla-like being, albeit with the body structure of its previous form. The raptor, with its newfound strength, exerted dominance over much of the island, until it was driven off by the island's protector. The raptor took to the seas and swam away from Skull Island, intending to find somewhere else to stay; and that is how it surfaced and invaded New York City in the dead of night.

An incarnation of the Godzilla from the 1998 film, Zilla is a raptor exposed to G-Radiation and as a result has mutated into something vaguely resembling the Big G.

  • Alleged Lookalikes: Is mistaken for Godzilla. Godzilla doesn't take kindly to this.
  • Badass Normal: Despite being subjected to radiation mutation, the closest thing it has to a special power is a really loud shout ability. It was still able to put up a fight against Godzilla, though in fairness Godzilla was still exhausted from his battle with Ghidorah.
    • He no-sells the Visitor's attempt to absorb him by being radioactive.
    • This ends up being subverted when its mutations progress far enough to grant it a weaker but faster charging atomic breath.
  • Mighty Roar: It can funnel a loud enough roar into an approximation of a beam attack.
  • Mythology Gag: When he finally develops an atomic breath, it's green.

Other Kaiju

Other monsters, usually either heroic or neutral.

     Tatsunari
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/young_prince_ghidorah.png
I just can't wait to be king!

Tatsunari is the infant successor to King Ghidorah VII, created by ancient magic that guarantees a successor for any Ghidorah that falls in battle. He was discovered by Miki Saegusa and after using her psychic powers to soothe his fears and calm his nerves, she earned his trust and essentially adopted him. She quickly grew to love the not-so-little guy and named him Tatsunari, meaning 'to become dragon'. He even basically became her mascot, and her fame skyrocketed, but she did her best to keep him safe and happy.

And then Krystalak appeared to steal him away. After his surrogate mother's psychic projection Gabara was soundly defeated, Miki herself was knocked unconscious. Tatsunari attempted to wake her up but was grabbed by Krystalak and carted away, screaming the whole way.

The infant son of King Ghidorah. For tropes relating to his adult form, see King Tatsunari.

  • Expy: Of Godzilla Jr. from the Heisei era. He's gentle with humans (unlike his much more spiteful father), deeply cares for a human woman who he sees as his mother... the biggest difference is his father is thoroughly evil, unlike Godzilla Jr.'s.
  • Meaningful Name: Tatsunari means 'to become dragon'. He's an infant Ghidorah. Do the math.
  • Original Character: Ghidorah Jr. is, as of this writing, not an actual thing in the Godzilla franchise; the only non-evil Ghidorah was in GMK.

     King Tatsunari
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/king_tatsunari.png
Long live the king.

With the infant Tatsunari in his possession, Hedorah knew rapid action needed to be taken; he commanded Krystalak take the child to the science team, and thanks to the efforts of kaiju scientist Barugaron, Tatsunari's physical and mental development were accelerated against his will; a thousand years passed in the span of a single day, during which the Visitor and Megalon were both destroyed.

And thus, King Tatsunari was born.

The adult form of Tatsunari, following a scientific procedure by Barugaron that accelerated physical and mental aging to one thousand years. See the above folder for tropes relating to his infant form.

     Gamera
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gamera_8.png
There's two Big Gs now.

Gamera's history is largely unknown; what is known is when the Atlanteans created the Gyaos race and they turned on them, Gamera came to their rescue, slaughtering almost all of the batlike monsters with unrelenting power and will and chasing the survivors into the depths of space. Since then, Gamera has appeared several times throughout Earth's history, often working in tandem with whichever Mothra happens to be around at that point, and is recognized as a sort of guardian deity for Earth when it cannot defend itself.

The Guardian of the Universe, and Earth's last resort in times of need.

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: May be older than the universe itself, implying his origins are very different.
  • Adaptational Badass: Not that he wasn't awesome before, but he's even more so now, able to take on three kaiju strong enough to beat Godzilla with almost no effort and killing one of them.
  • Always Someone Better: As powerful as he is, Orochi was far superior.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Makes his entry by saving Godzilla.
  • Dynamic Entry: Makes his entrance by flying-bodyslamming Gigan, Megalon, and Thunderbuzz.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Or rather, Gamera Threshold; whenever Earth cannot defend itself by any means, he shows up to bail them out. This is why he saves Godzilla; if Godzilla dies, it would have incredible consequences for Earth.
  • Grievous Harm with a Body: Makes his entrance by bodyslamming three monsters while in flight.
  • One-Man Army: Slaughtered nearly every Gyaos when they turned on the Atlanteans, and chased the rest into space.
  • Time Abyss: Implied to be older than the universe itself.

     Gojirin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gojirin.png
Pretty in pink!

Godzilla is recognized the world over as a force of nature given heart and soul; a being of pure, unadulterated power that unleashes havoc and destruction upon everyone and everything that threatens him, his friends, and the world, and he does not hesitate to fight to kill.

Gojirin, on the other hand, could not be more different if she tried.

A pacifistic younger sister to Godzilla, based on the Godzilland character of the same name.

  • Actual Pacifist: Played completely straight; she is thoroughly nonviolent, despite being every bit as powerful as her older brother.
    • Eventually subverted when she tries to help fight Spacegodzilla, and helps secure the kill on Orochi.
  • Breath Weapon: She has her own atomic breath, even though she doesn't use it.
  • Disappeared Dad: After the atomic tests killed their mother, their father (the original Godzilla) went out to get revenge. He never came back.
  • Non-Mammal Mammaries: Somewhat averted. While her chest evokes a feminine frame, there's no defined split between her breasts, implying its simply due to skeletal structure.

     Destoroyah
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/destoroyah.png
What is a god to a non-believer?

Dr. Serizawa's life was irrevocably changed by Godzilla's appearance in 1954; his entire life, he had strived to use his scientific brilliance to save lives, not end them. He refused to even try to invent new weaponry for the Japanese military, and when he discovered that his accidental discovery of Micro-Oxygen was the only thing capable of killing Godzilla, he made certain he was in the water with Godzilla as he activated the bomb he created; the Oxygen Destroyer. And when he looked into the eyes of the dying beast, he saw pain, torment, sorrow, and... acceptance. He died with the beast, or so it seemed.

Their spirits lingered, and over twenty years later, Godzilla regenerated and surged forth, stronger than ever. Serizawa was vaguely aware of this, but could do nothing about it... Or so he thought, for a prehistoric race of micro-organisms that fed upon Micro-Oxygen began to mutate from the combination of the huge supply of their food source and the lingering G-Radiation, and the resulting monstrosity absorbed Serizawa's soul. At first he was horrified; his body was beyond twisted, beyond horrifying. He looked as if he had lunged forth from the depths of the Judeo-Christian underworld. But feeling the power surging through him, he understood what he must do.

Doctor Serizawa, revived as a horrifying, demonic monster with the ability to use the Oxygen Destroyer's power, among other abilities.

  • Adaptational Heroism: From a destructive sadist that wants to kill everyone to a once-human scientist that just wants Godzilla Prime dead, noone else.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Unintentionally, but he ended up saving Varan and Tatsunari by showing up.
  • Body Horror: He looks like a fucking demon.
  • Was Once a Man: Used to be Dr. Serizawa before he became Destoroyah.

     Clover
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/clover_9.png
A victim of mere circumstance.

Godzilla Prime's appearance wasn't the only Kaiju attack the world faced in the absence of Godzilla, Anguirus, Mothra, Rodan and Jet Jaguar; New York City was laid siege to by a monster of great size and strength that emerged following the discovery of the head of the Statue of Liberty in the city streets. A group of friends were filming a party when things rapidly escalated and the monster was sighted amongst the city skylines, seemingly in combat with something; they ducked into the sewers but were forced to evade what appeared to be parasites that had fallen off the creature, parasites that were as large as a fully grown man. One of the group was bitten and later her body exploded into a gorey mess, all while the earth shook and horrible screeches filled the air.

They eventually reached evacuation helicopters; they saw the monster from the sky, seeming to have evaded whatever was fighting it, and saw it trudging through the city, buildings collapsing before its size. Bombs were dropped on it by stealth bombers, knocking it down, but it lashed out and struck the helicopter by accident, knocking it out of the sky. The cameraman Hud found himself pinned to the ground, and with the monster standing over him, but as it inspected him, something smashed into it and knocked it away, saving his life.

The monster from the movie Cloverfield. It caused mass destruction whilst fleeing from Zilla, despite dwarfing it in size.

  • Badass Normal: It has zero special powers, yet very nearly beats Zilla in a one on one fight; it takes Zilla breaking its own Badass Normal status to beat it.
  • Does Not Know His Own Strength: Much like the original incarnation, Clover's 'rampage' is entirely accidental; if anything, the one at fault here is Zilla since Clover was running from it.
  • Eldritch Abomination: All we know about its origins is that Zilla chased it onto land for God-only-knows what reason.
  • Lightning Bruiser: It's apparently quite nimble despite its size.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Lays New York City low while it flees from Zilla.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: It's little more than a baby fleeing from something, and ended up causing mass destruction by sheer accident.
  • Younger Than They Look: It's bigger than Zilla by a wide margin. It's also, like the original, a baby.

     Gejin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gejin.png
Viva la Resistance!

Gejin is the older sister of the legendary Gigan, and was the leader of the revolution that Gigan and Megalon were a part of prior to their capture; Gejin, enraged, led an attack on the Nebulan homeworld in a desperate bid to rescue her brother, but this was the undoing of the entire resistance movement on her homeworld of Gorath (which was later utterly destroyed to set an example), and led to the absolute slaughter of the resistance's leaders... except for Gejin. Ghidorah saw potential in her and had her carted off to Planet X, where she was thrown into the Xilien arena as a gladiator fighter.

The older sister of Gigan and a gladiator in the Xilien arena, who meets Godzilla and co after they're captured and carted off to Planet X to join the arena's roster.

  • Action Girl: She's renown as one of the best gladiators of the Xilien arena.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Sort of. While she IS a new character, she's also a Gigan, and is by far the least evil variation to ever exist.
  • Decomposite Character: Of Final Wars Gigan, gender swapped and turned into a unique character with ties to Gigan himself.
  • Heroic BSoD: Undergoes this when she sees Keizer Ghidorah. She manages to get over it, going into a full berserker fury.
  • Red Baron: She's known as the Death Trigger by her fans.

     Biollante
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/biollante.png
Mother Nature is fucking PISSED.

And so it was that Godzilla and co returned to Earth, with Gejin in tow; upon landing, they were greeted by Tatsunari. Gejin was, of course, apprehensive, but eased up when she saw the apologetic expression on his face. He told Godzilla what had happened in his absence, and apologized for his attack from before; Godzilla begrudgingly forgave him, and the monsters all went their separate ways.

Six years passed from then, and all was quiet, aside from the occasional lesser kaiju insurgence, which was stopped by G-Force on each occasion. It was thought that Earth would know peace at last, but it was not to be... for a barrage of meteors struck earth, but the contents were not merely cosmic stones, but glistening multicolored energy crystals that began to sap the life force from the planet itself!

Earth was plunged into a panic; the humans evacuated every populated area the crystals had landed near, and the monsters set out to try and destroy the crystals, but their attacks were proving fruitless; they deflected any energy blasts, and getting too close resulted in the crystals sapping the life from the monsters. All hope seemed lost, and things only began to get worse when reports came in of a new monster emerging from an erupting volcano thanks to the crystal in its area plunging into the lava, but on the third day of the attempts to destroy the crystals, Mothra and Gamera met, gathered their energies, and awoke the planet itself.

An ancient nature spirit, awoken in response to energy-draining crystals embedding themselves in the earth and proving too dangerous to take care of without her.

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: If the alien name for Earth being "Planet Biollante" is any indication, this version of her is Earth itself. Quite a drastic shift, and this in fact makes her not related to Goji in any way.
  • Adaptational Heroism: From Anti-Villain bent on destroying Godzilla to Mama Bear nature spirit.
  • Breath Weapon: Has two; an acid spit and energy blasts.
  • Gaia's Vengeance: Thankfully not aimed at us, but rather the energy-draining crystals. She doesn't even help in the fight with Orochi, since the crystals are her main concern.
  • Good Thing You Can Heal: Not even her body being destroyed can slow her down; she'll just regenerate it later on.

     Battra
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/battra.png
Ow the edge.
Unbeknownst to Mothra, known only to the Shobijin, there is another Mothra-like lineage in existence; the Battras, Gods of War. A new Battra is born whenever the previous one perishes, much like Mothras, and it just so happens the previous Battra and Mothra died fighting off a creature known as Daghara, slaying it with a conjoined suicide attack that expunged all of their energy. And so, the Mothra and Battra eggs hatched; they grew simultaneously and both went through their Imago transformations at the same time, but not once did they meet… until a chance encounter near an energy crystal resulted in a heated battle between the two flying goddesses.

The sister of Mothra, serving as a dark counter to Mothra's light.

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: From a male singular individual to a female kaiju that, like Mothra, is the latest in a long line of similarly-named monsters.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Very much a dark version of Mothra, yet is similarly allied with Earth.
  • Glass Cannon: As far as kaiju go, she definitely has more strength than durability.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Is willing (albeit reluctantly) to exterminate humanity should they ever prove a threat to Earth.

The Guardian Beasts

The three Guardian Monsters foretold to battle a force of hateful destruction, AKA Godzilla Prime. They consist of Baragon, Titanosaurus, and Varan.

     Baragon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/baragon.png
The God of Earth.

Baragon, the Guardian Beast of the Earth, awoke as MechaGodzilla 2 was defeated, but something was wrong. Very, very wrong. He realized he was not at his prophesied strength; he was only at 50% of his full power. Yet, he could feel the power of his foretold foe, and knew it was advancing towards the resting spots of his brothers, Titanosaurus and Varan. He had a choice; fight the monster now and give the others time to awaken at full strength, or wait and risk their destruction before they could awaken.

He chose the former.

The first of the Guardian Monsters to battle Godzilla Prime. He gave his life to give his brothers time they desperately needed.

  • Adaptational Badass: Goes from just being able to dig and use fire breath to manipulating gravity and being able to self destruct.
  • Determinator: Refuses to stay down; his response to getting force-fed the atomic breath is to get back up and self destruct on Godzilla. One gets the impression that if he could get back up from that, he would have started attacking Godzilla again.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: When he gets thirty seconds' worth of atomic breath down his throat, he responds by latching onto Godzilla Prime and self-destructing.
  • Heroic Suicide: How he dies, which ends up dealing enough damage to Godzilla that he has to go into a three-day sleep to recover.
  • Not Quite Dead: Godzilla assumes that he's dead after force-feeding him the atomic breath. He comes to regret this pretty hard.
  • Playing with Fire: Can control heat and breathe fire, though he never gets to use the latter.
  • Taking You with Me: Attempts this on Godzilla. While it doesn't kill him, it still knocks him out, giving the other monsters time to awaken at full strength.

     Titanosaurus
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/titanosaurus.png
The God of Water.

Three days passed before Godzilla Prime reawoke, his wounds fully healed and his strength fully restored; however, Baragon's self-sacrifice had worked as intended, for the remaining Guardians had awoken at full strength. Titanosaurus, God of Water, and Varan, God of the Sky, were awake, and when they realized they could not sense the power of Baragon, they put two and two together and began their march towards the now-vacant city of Tokyo to intercept Godzilla.

The second Guardian Monster to battle Godzilla Prime, and the God of Water.

  • Adaptational Badass: He was decently cool before, but now he has his energy beam from Godzilla Unleashed, as well as aquakinesis.
  • Blow You Away: Can create gale-force winds with a swing of his tail.
  • Gentle Giant: Apparently is gentle to all life. Godzilla is the exception to this rule.
  • Making a Splash: Has aquakinesis due to being the God of Water.

     Varan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/varan.png
The God of the Sky.

Varan's arrival on the scene was violent; slamming his entire bodyweight into Godzilla and knocking him down. He was relentless in his following assault, clawing at the King of Monsters and using his sharpened fangs to tear into his irradiated flesh; however, like Baragon before him, he quickly realized Godzilla was healing the wounds faster than he could reopen them, and jumped off of the radioactive dinosaur and took to the skies. He rained energy blasts from his jaws and eyes onto Godzilla Prime, who attempted to shoot him down with an atomic breath but missed due to Varan's speed. And then Titanosaurus moved in to hit him with tendrils of water formed from Tokyo's own water supply, restoring his watery armor as he did so.

However, Godzilla was not so easily crushed; making note of Varan's flight path and speed, he turned to face Titanosaurus, and when Varan dove in to attack from behind, he swung his tail to smash Varan into a building, impaling him on a support beam and killing him instantaneously.

The God of the Sky and the third Guardian Monster to join the fight against Godzilla. Dies pretty quickly but is revived by Titanosaurus' energy.

The Humans

The most notable humans.

     Miki Saegusa and Gabara
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/miki_saegusa_and_gabara.png
GET ME PICTURES OF GODZILLA!

Miki Saegusa was born into poverty, and at a very young age her family was forced to live in rural areas due to their homes being obliterated by the original Godzilla in his vengeful rampage across Tokyo. Miki was determined to make a name for herself and pull her family out of the dirt, and so started to work as a freelance journalist. Strangely enough, reading and writing came incredibly easy to her... and then she realized she was a psychic.

With her psychic powers now fully apparent to her, she utilized them to provide effective interviews, get solid scoops, and get answers from people for her articles. She went from being paid in exposure to being paid in money, and while she was by no means the most prolific of journalists, she earned a solid pay and split her earnings 50/50 with her family so that they could afford to eat every day and live in general comfort. Her compassion earned her respect, and she got even richer. But one day, her entire life changed.

A young adult human psychic woman that can produce Gabara, a physical manifestation of her psychic powers, to defend herself.

  • Action Mom: When Krystalak attempts to kidnap Tatsunari, Miki responds by creating Gabara to protect him.
  • Adaptational Badass: Both of them. Miki in the Heisei era can communicate with Godzilla, but not much else. Here, she can create a kaiju with her mind. As for Gabara, in the Showa era he was part of a little boy's dreams and didn't do much else besides bullying Minilla within said dreams and getting his ass beat by Godzilla. Here, he can take on Krystalak, fire lightning bolts and explosive electric spheres, and can even create gauntlets of lightning.
  • Badass Adorable: Miki. She creates Gabara to protect her adoptive son. And it nearly works.
  • The Idealist Was Right: Miki firmly believes Godzilla and the like are more than just animals. She's actually right.
  • Shock and Awe: Gabara's lightning powers.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Miki's described as believing humans and monsters can one day live in peace, and denies the possibility that Godzilla and co are mere animals.

The EDF/G-Force

Members and tools of the EDF and its G-Force branch.

     MechaGodzilla
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mechagodzilla_2.png
Release the secret weapon!

Following the invasion of King Ghidorah and his subsequent defeat at the hands of Godzilla, the nations of the world came together due to a simple realization; this would not be the last time Earth would come under fire from alien monsters. And so, the EDF- the Earth Defense Force- was formulated. Technology was harvested from the remains of MechaGodzilla, Ghidorah's ship, and the Moguera Drones found within, and resources were pooled to begin construction of an anti-Kaiju branch of military operations. G-Force was formed.

The prized creations of G-Force were the Maser Cannons, the Maser Tanks, and MechaGodzilla 2; created by combining Earth tech and MechaGodzilla tech, it was built as the ultimate first-response unit against Kaiju rampages, and would see duty in operations against Earth-bound lesser monsters such as Ebirah, the twin Kamacuras, and Kumonga. But its biggest test came when Godzilla Prime surfaced again, stronger than ever, and set out towards Tokyo, wiping out all military opposition. MechaGodzilla 2 was deployed, and the battle began.

The second MechaGodzilla, made by G-Force as an anti-Kaiju measure, and deployed against Godzilla Prime upon his resurgence.

     G-Moguera
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/g_moguera.png
Anything aliens make, humans can make better.

G-Moguera was created using a combination of technology from Mecha-Godzilla and Ghidorah's fallen starship and is currently the only G-Force machine not based on Godzilla's body structure. Moguera was designed with two purposes; one, to combat other monsters, and two, to battle Godzilla in case he ever went on a rampage. It was deployed into battle alongside Jet Jaguar, Mecha-Godzilla 2, and Kiryu to combat the Kamatas swarm that had emerged; its Absolute Zero cannon would prove vital in the ensuing battle.

A Moguera created by humanity using Ghidoran and Nebulan tech to act as one of the best anti-kaiju weapons in existence.

  • Adaptational Badass: Compared to its appearance in Godzilla VS Space Godzilla, it's extremely mobile and an absolute tank at the same time.
  • Adaptational Name Change: Renamed to G-Moguera, presumably to differentiate it from the Moguera drones utilized by the Ghidorahs.

     Kiryu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kiryu_6.png
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

In the six years between Godzilla and co's return to Earth and the energy crystal landings, G-Force decided to take the next step; they wanted to create a Godzilla mech that was capable of fighting on his level, if not stronger, but any attempts to upgrade MechaGodzilla 2 failed as the machine's framework was not built to handle a more organic style of motion. Out of desperation, they made a trip to Monster Island, and on the shores found something; the skeleton of a female adult mutant Gojirasaurus, with traces of Godzilla-like dna in small clumps of once-molten flesh around it. They had found the mother of Godzilla and Gojirin, who had perished as she mutated due to lethal proximity to the nuclear tests, the heat searing her flesh from her bones before her newfound regenerative powers could kick in. They decided that this would work, and carted it away. Over the next few years, they built the next MechaGodzilla around her skeletal frame, and wound up with a mighty beast indeed; they decided to forgo the name MechaGodzilla and named her Kiryu.

The mother of Godzilla and Gojirin, resurrected as a cyborg G-Force mech.

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: Slightly; instead of being built off the original Godzilla, she's built off his lover.
  • Adaptational Heroism: The original Kiryu would go on devastating rampages whenever it remember who it was. This Kiryu prefers to assist and protect her teammates any way she can whenever she's in control.

     Cyber-Ghidorah
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cyber_ghidorah.png
Back, and better than ever.
The creation of Cyber-Ghidorah was a hotly contested issue amongst the higher-ups at G-Force; they ran a serious risk of resurrecting the monster that very nearly defeated Godzilla and his allies single-handedly, stronger than ever. But the prospect of weaponizing Earth’s greatest enemy to that point as an anti-kaiju weapon won out over those worries, and Ghidorah’s corpse was retrieved and construction began.

The revived King Ghidorah VII, resurrected as a cyborg and allied with G-Force.

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: Has brighter gold wing membranes than usual, and his lights are blue, not red.
  • Anti-Hero: Has become this due to Godzilla potentially humbling him and making him rethink some things.
  • Came Back Strong: He's even more powerful now that he's a cyborg.
  • Godzilla Threshold: G-Force considers this crossed when they unleash him to stop Spacegodzilla.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Goes from full on villain to Anti-Hero.
  • Shock and Awe: His Gravity Beams, as usual. Notably, he can launch grappling hooks that, when embedded into his foes, can channel that energy into them and allow him to rip them into pieces.
  • Villain Respect: Part of why he's now an Anti-Hero; he legitimately respects Emmy Kano, his pilot.

     Emmy Kano
"For as insignificant as your species is, when you have the power of a demigod on your side, you truly are something special."

The pilot of Cyber-Ghidorah. Notable for being so stubborn, she was able to stalemate Ghidorah in a battle of wills, winning his respect.

  • Determinator: Stalemated Ghidorah of all people in a willpower struggle.

Other Villains

Any antagonist not allied with Ghidorah.

     Shin Godzilla/Shinji
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shinji.png
As long as breath comes from my mouth, I may yet stand the slightest chance...

Nuclear radiation in large quantities seems to produce potent mutations in creatures exposed to it. But what happens when an already-irradiated piece of organic matter finds its way into the body of a smaller life form? The answer is Shinji; a Godzilla-like aquatic monstrosity that arose from the ocean depths, wildly roaring and howling. Inspection of its remains would reveal biological makeup very similar to that of Godzilla, indicating that a marine life form had come into contact with or ingested a piece of Godzilla that made its way into the ocean after being severed from the host during the battle with Anguirus. Unlike Godzilla or his predecessor, Shinji had no purpose to its rampage, merely lashing out in some troubled emotional state.

A mutated marine lifeform that experienced its transformation due to the irradiated properties of Godzilla's flesh and acts as the first opponent requiring multiple monsters to take down. Obviously a take on Shin Godzilla's version of the King of the Monsters.

  • Blessed with Suck: Has immense strength, durability, a healing factor, and an utterly deadly variation of the atomic breath... as well as suffering from immense, maddening pain constantly.
  • Body Horror: Somehow even more so than the original. Its claws aren't the same size as each other, the talons on its claws and the spike on its head appear to have literally 'punctured the skin'' to grow, its teeth are pointing in every direction BUT the one they should be, and its toes are malformed and asymmetrical.
  • Butt-Monkey: If the addendum made to its entry is any indication, it's not done yet. Poor bastard can't catch a break.
    • Thankfully averted, as the Kamatas lack its soul.
  • Death Seeker: Literally begs Godzilla to kill it after it's defeated it. He obliges.
  • Good Thing You Can Heal: Granted, probably not from its own perspective, but its healing factor gives it far more survivability than it would have otherwise.
  • Light Is Not Good: Assuming its three-stage atomic breath is the same as the original.
  • Mighty Glacier: As with the original, Shinji moves at extremely slow speeds, but makes up for that by being a living weapon.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Doesn't stick around for long, but shoulders Godzilla with the knowledge it would have lived a normal life as a dumb fish without his very existence. Yeah, that's not gonna do him any favors.
  • Tragic Monster: Yes, it lays waste to Tokyo, and unchecked would have probably done the same to the rest of the world. But it's lashing out due to having intelligence it isn't used to coupled with constant agony.

     Godzilla Prime
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/godzilla_prime.png
The God of Destruction.

Five years passed following the battle between Godzilla and Tatsunari. Tatsunari had still not shown his face again, despite multiple sightings; much to Miki's dismay, every sighting was fleeting. She simply couldn't find him. And things didn't improve when Godzilla, Jet Jaguar, Mothra, Anguirus and Rodan all suddenly went missing, vanishing off of the face of the earth entirely.

The timing on this could not be any worse, for three days later, the original Godzilla erupted from the depths; many had seen the flesh melt from his bones at the hands of Serizawa's Oxygen Destroyer, yet here he was, fully healed and bigger and stronger than ever. With a golden atomic breath instead of the white one he had in his appearance in 1954, he tore apart the military forces hastily assembled to push him back; even the Maser Cannon tanks, created using combative tech harvested from the remains of Moguera drones, MechaGodzilla and Ghidorah's starship, failed to injure or even faze the giant. Calls were sent out to find other monsters to help, but much to their dismay, the only remaining allied Kaiju, Zilla, was tied up in Manhattan with a monster that had attacked Cloverfield. So it fell to the military alone to stop the monster; or so it would seem, for at this time, a secret project by a foreign government would be launched to repel the vengeful beast...

The original Godzilla, restored to life somehow after years of deathly slumber, and also a lot stronger and bigger.

  • Adaptational Villainy: Not at first; but after coming back, he got a LOT more vicious.
  • Not Quite Dead: Apparently, all the Oxygen Destroyer did was delay him for over twenty years.
  • No-Sell: Military assaults, including the Maser Cannons made specifically to combat Kaiju.
  • Tragic Villain: Lost his wife/partner in the explosion that mutated him and his children into monsters, was killed by the Oxygen Destroyer, and his spirit was forced to linger while his body repaired itself, driving him into a deranged rage. Poor bastard can't get a break.

     Megaguirus
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/megaguirus_8.png
There's nasty bugs, and then there's this asshole.
Megaguirus is the eternal nemesis of the Rodan lineage; long ago, she attempted to unleash a swarm of her children, the Meganula, to enslave the world and turn it into a feeding ground, but a superspecies relative of the pterosaur family, the Rodans, fought back, containing the ensuing bloodbath to a northern location. Eventually, only two Rodans remained, and they battled with Megaguirus herself and won, plunging her into a pool of liquid amber, where she was trapped until it turned solid and she slipped into a sort of stasis. Ever since, the Rodans have trained their children to prepare for her return, and when the energy-draining crystals were embedded into the earth, it sparked a signal that brought Megaguirus back to full consciousness.

The arch-nemesis to the Rodan lineage, awoken by the energy crystals embedded into the earth.

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: To a degree. In her movie appearance, Megaguirus only came about when a Meganula queen was exposed to Godzilla's energy in present day. Here, she is millions of years older and existed far before Godzilla, yet somehow has traces of G-Radiation. What this means is unknown, as her description actively notes the time gap.
  • Adaptational Badass: The original Megaguirus was certainly intelligent and powerful, but was also fairly fragile and couldn't withstand Godzilla's atomic breath too well. Here, she's listed as having far more durability, and was able to keep up with and even outright beat Rodan in a fair fight.
  • Age Lift: From a current day Meganula queen to a several-million-year-old kaiju that was trapped in an amber prison.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: An oversized mutant Meganula, which are already pretty big to begin with.
  • Energy Absorption: Can do this by impaling something with her stinger. She does this to Rodan before dropping him into a volcano with his wings broken.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: After killing Rodan, she dropped his body into a volcano... which promptly resurrected him as Fire Rodan, allowing him to kill her with an upgraded fire breath.

     Obsidius
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/obsidius.png
Rock hard!

One of the many crystals that impacted earth would end up buried inside of an erupting volcano; due to the energy of the crystals, it broke apart into multiple fragments, formed a body out of volcanic rock, and lurched forth from the inside of the volcano, roaring; it immediately set its sights on Osaka and began to attack.

A monster formed from a crystal that landed in a volcano.

The Ghidoran Empire

The allies of King Ghidorah VII, as well as King G himself.

     MechaGodzilla
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mechagodzilla.png
Domo arigato, Mr Roboto?

The Nebulans are well known constructors of giant monsters, whether they be mechanical, organic, or somewhere in between. While their most prized creation is the infamous mercenary team, Gigan and Megalon, they would also become known for the creation of MechaGodzilla. Commissioned by a spacefaring tyrant who refused to give a name, he was the perfect war machine; armed with an approximation of Godzilla's atomic breath, eye beams, finger missiles and all of Godzilla's durability and strength. However, he lacks intelligence; he exists purely to wreak destruction, and lacks any desires beyond this. He was deployed to Earth, disguised as Godzilla; however, Anguirus saw through the disguise and attacked on sight, recognizing the danger immediately. Unfortunately, Anguirus found his strength lacking against the mechanical menace, and if it weren't for the speedy intervention of Rodan, Anguirus would have perished. Rodan swooped down, knowing something was wrong; why would Anguirus pick a fight with any monster that didn't deserve it? He unleashed his flame breath, burning away the disguise.

A mechanical duplicate of the King of the Monsters, created at the behest of an interstellar tyrant (probably Ghidorah). Intended to wipe out all life on Earth, it faced stark opposition.

     Gigan and Megalon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gigan_and_megalon.png
Prepare for trouble, and make it double.

Gigan and Megalon. Names synonymous with many things; destruction, death, bloodshed, amorality, and cruelty are chief among them. This dastardly duo will commit any crime for any price; the money isn't even very crucial to them, they just like taking things from people. They are far and away the most potent creations of the Nebulans, being cyborgs constructed from revolutionaries against the intergalactic rule of an interstellar tyrant, and from the very second they awoke, stripped of memories and morals, they unleashed hell on the facility and journeyed into the stars to spread chaos uninhibited.

To be approached by that tyrant himself for a job was a huge deal for them, and they refused to accept payment this time; after all, serving under them would bring unimaginable prestige. Their mission; go to the planet Earth and crush all forms of resistance.

Two Kaiju-for-hire created by the Nebulans, which swiftly backfired when they broke loose, destroyed the facility they were made in, and left to become mercenaries. They fight together, kill together, and refuse to go on missions separately.

  • Achilles' Heel: Fighting separately, they're not that effective against other Kaiju.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Gigan is described as having a dry wit.
  • Evil Duo: Probably part of why they were hired; they're an absolutely deadly team and have zero qualms about leaving trails of death and destruction in their wake.
  • Glass Cannon: Gigan; he's quite powerful(though not as much as Megalon), and the more mobile of the two, but was beaten by an already-injured Mothra when she was able to take him on solo.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: They're stated to share an 'almost brotherly relationship' and a great sense of camaraderie.
  • Mighty Glacier: Megalon can take and dish out huge amounts of punishment, but is definitely the slower of the two.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Gigan attempts this when Gamera kills Megalon, but is dragged away by Thunderbuzz as she realizes they stand no chance at all.

     King Ghidorah
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/king_ghidorah_9.png
The devil has three heads.

The lineage of Ghidorahs is one of evil, devastation and cruelty; there have been many Ghidorahs, but the current ruling lord of the universe and the tyrannical King of Terror is among the worst. Ghidorahs seek to maintain balance and prosperity, but they believe the ends justify the means, and as such perpetuate a cycle; they conquer worlds, cull the weak, and place a puppet ruler to report to them on anything new happening. But King Ghidorah VII takes a far more active role, squashing resistances singlehandedly, taking on entire armies alone... but he was bored. There was nowhere left for him to conquer, or so he thought. When he discovered the Milky Way, he was ecstatic; finally, a galaxy to take over and attach his name to in the history of his lineage. He called to the Nebulans to create a weapon, and they responded with MechaGodzilla. When that failed, he had the designers executed by throwing them into a black hole, and called on Gigan and Megalon to do something. They too failed, and in aggravation he decided to do it himself. He arrived in a titanic spaceship the size of a continent and gave Earth an ultimatum; surrender to his rule, or be eradicated to make the way for resource gathering.

The Three-Headed Dragon. The King of Terror. Monster Zero. Across all variations on the Godzilla franchise, Ghidorahs have almost always been absolute monsters, and this one is no different.

Beware, unmarked spoilers ahead!

  • Achilles' Heel: Arrogance; Godzilla tricks him into wasting all of his energy so that he can atomic breath him to death.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Somehow. He went from being a tool of destruction for races looking to conquer/destroy earth to a galactic overlord that regularly inflicts genocide in the name of 'balance'.
  • Aliens Are Bastards: Through and through.
  • A Nazi by Any Other Name: Conquering the universe, culling the weak to let the strong thrive, claiming to bring order whilst, well, not...
  • Arc Villain: And HOW. MechaGodzilla, Gigan and Megalon all went to Earth on his command, and even though he's dead, there may be other Ghidorahs out there waiting to take his place...
  • Asshole Victim: Lost his middle head and got his heart ripped out and stomped to a red paste. But it's Ghidorah, so noone is exactly sad.
  • Determinator: Survives his spaceship crashing, getting blasted in the face at full power by Mothra, Jet Jaguar, and Rodan at once, and getting repeatedly blasted by Godzilla's atomic breath, even when it blows off his middle head. It takes his heart being physically ripped out for him to finally die, and by this point his spaceship crashing has removed thousands of lives due to the tidal waves caused worldwide.
  • The Emperor: Even though he inherited his kingdom, he certainly isn't very kind to it.
  • Evil Overlord: Unlike previous King Ghidorahs, he actually is a literal King. Which is rather unfortunate for most of the universe.
  • Light Is Not Good: A bit of a Downplayed Trope. While he has the golden motifs, he also has some black in his claws, wings, horns and tail spikes. He does, however, still spit lightning-like Gravity Beams, which work like they do in Final Wars.
  • Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: Apparently, Ghidorahs do what he does to maintain balance and order, but this Ghidorah genuinely enjoys the darker side of his rule.
  • Order Is Not Good: Maintains an iron grip on the universe. Is also an utter maniac.
  • Villainous Legacy: He's not the first Ghidorah. He's the latest. And the worst.
  • You Have Failed Me: His reaction to MechaGodzilla being destroyed? Throw the designers into a black hole. Sheesh.

     Hedorah
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hedorah.png
He's the one you need, for a dirty deed.

Born from a sentient smog being absorbed into a mass of pollution, grime and radioactive waste, Hedorah is the ever-loyal, ever-fanatical, ever-cruel right-hand 'man' of King Ghidorah VII, and stood by his side for hundreds of years as the three-headed dragon laid waste to resistance group after resistance group. Hedorah himself was tasked with capturing their champions to be publicly executed via the Xilian Arenas, in gladiatorial combat.

The right-hand man of King Ghidorah; while not as vicious and destructive as he is, Hedorah is still a bastard.

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: He's a smog monster who fused with grime and radioactive waste on another planet instead of a living mineral.
  • Aliens Are Bastards: The reason he's such a suckup to his master? Because it means he gets to wreak havoc uninhibited and actually gain favor with his master instead of losing it.
  • Antagonist in Mourning: To an extent. The death of King Ghidorah genuinely upsets him, and he gets pissed as soon as he learns where his master died. Whether this is due to losing his excuse for being evil or truly looking up to his master is unknown.
  • Sycophantic Servant: A rare effective kind; his job is rounding up the champions of the various resistances his master crushes to be forced into a gladiator arena.

     Krystalak/Spacegodzilla
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/krystalak.png
Spikes of Villainy never looked so pretty.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/spacegodzilla.png
Wait, I take it back, this is even prettier.

Krystalak was discovered by King Ghidorah VII on the world of Corona; he was worshipped by the smaller beings that inhabited it as something of a deity, though Krystalak confessed he was nothing of the sort. He sought to keep his world balanced, and Ghidorah was intrigued by this, explaining the goals of his lineage. Krystalak was impressed and vowed allegiance, and rose through the ranks to become Ghidorah's greatest military leader.

A crystal-based life form who acts as a general to King Ghidorah. Shockingly, he's not a bad person. Until he uses G-Cells to turn himself into Spacegodzilla.

  • Anti-Villain: He sees value in Ghidorah's goals of balance and prosperity, but seems to regret the methods used. Yet, he continues because he lacks a better solution.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Averted hard as Spacegodzilla; he dominates in both ranged and close ranged combat, very nearly slaughtering the entire cast.
  • Spikes of Villainy: As Krystalak? Sort of. He's not exactly evil, but he's definitely an antagonistic force. Played straight as Spacegodzilla.

     The Visitor
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_visitor_8.png
If I was an imitation, a perfect imitation, how would you know if it was really me?

In the year 1982, a group of scientists would find themselves faced down with a creature that could turn their very flesh into extensions of itself, perfectly duplicating their minds and squashing their spirits to replace them with itself. While they eventually conquered it, leaving only two survivors amongst the original group of 12, they had unknowingly met with the last remaining piece of a creature known only as the Visitor.

The Visitor was one of the most fearsome of Ghidorah's generals; it was silent, destructive, and capable. It was discovered completely alone on a planet after Ghidorah noticed he hadn't heard back from it in quite a few cycles. When he investigated the silent world, the Visitor was all he found; after he immobilized and captured it, his scientists found it was in fact a native life form, but its flesh had been altered to have duplicative properties. It was discerned that the creature was, in fact, a falsehood, and the body belonged to a more intelligent entity. Ghidorah, intrigued by this, pressed it for its motivations; and he learned through telepathy that it collects information by absorbing the biomass of other beings, and taking their forms. So he offered it a position as a general; namely, general of his stealth division, and it accepted, becoming his most feared general.

An adaptation of both the unused Godzilla Unleashed monster and The Thing (1982), resulting in a truly terrifying monster.

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: In the original incarnation of the Thing it was frozen for thousands of years; here, it's not even in that state for twenty following its defeat as the Visitor.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Sort of. While it's certainly not malicious or animalistic, one could argue its methods of preservation are counterproductive.
  • The Assimilator: Its entire modus operandi by way of believing it preserves the races it absorbs.
  • Asteroids Monster: Well, it's very literally the Thing. It survives its battle with Mothra, Zilla and Rodan by flinging a tiny bit of itself into the atmosphere to find a new host.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: It believes it's doing its victims a favor.
  • Eldritch Abomination: We never learn just what the hell it is or where it's from; even Ghidorah doesn't know, since the first time he saw it, it was alone on a world gone dark.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: Varying degrees of this depending on the form it takes. Played straight in its main form.
  • Non-Malicious Monster: Played with; while it does ultimately believe it's doing good, it doesn't care about how you see its actions.
  • Shapeshifter Default Form: Sort of. It defaults to the form Ghidorah found it in, and simply incorporates the abilities of other races into it.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Fire... in a world where multiple monsters can generate extreme heat. Yeah, it's no surprise Rodan nearly killed it.

     Thunderbuzz
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zaperon.png
Does that make me crazy?

Thunderbuzz, AKA Project Lightning Bug, was commissioned by Ghidorah from the Nebulans when he realized he needed a general for the strike force portion of his army. So, they genetically modified a kind of electricity-manipulating insect to increase its size, strength, durability and intelligence. They set the resulting monster loose on a group of Moguera drones to test her in front of Ghidorah, and to his delight she had developed a sadistic streak a mile wide; she took the time to rip every drone apart bit by bit, and was left laughing madly amongst the wreckage. Ghidorah entered the test chamber; she attacked him but he quickly overwhelmed her and offered her a spot in his army, leading his strike force. Once she realized this would lead to more fighting and killing, she agreed with gusto.

Thunderbuzz is an adaptation of the unused Godzilla Unleashed monster Lightning Bug and acts as a third Nebulan monstrosity.

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: From being a lab accident to a very intentional creation by the Nebulans.
  • Adaptational Name Change: From Lightning Bug to Thunderbuzz(though, her original name is given a nod in her bio). Amusingly enough, she also underwent name changes by the creator; all references to her prior to her reveal called her Zaperon, and following her reveal were quickly changed.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Went from being a mindless mutant beast to a Nebulan creation so sadistic, it impressed Ghidorah.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: It's a giant bug, what do you expect?
  • Blood Knight: Upon arrival on Earth, her first instinct is to start looking to pick a fight with whoever killed her master. It's also mentioned that being able to give her a good fight and refusing it will piss her off.
  • Light Is Not Good: Uses lightning, and is also a massive sadist.

     Orga
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/orga_2.png
Are you not entertained?

Long ago, Orga was seen as a hero by resistance groups the universe over; a pirate of great fame who stole from Ghidoran supply lines and delivered the goods to resistances against the rule of the Ghidorah family line; he was crafty, knew the best routes, and always struck hard and fast with a reliable crew. But eventually, he was caught and he and his crew were tortured for information on the names and locations of the resistance leaders; and while Orga himself didn't break, his crew did. His crew was executed for treason, but Orga himself wasn't given any such mercy; rather, he was thrown into the Xilien arena.

Over the years, Orga lost himself in the bloodshed; he went from a well-intentioned vigilante to a crowd-adoring brute with a knack for brutality and cruelty. He completely broke, and the utter monster that replaced him became a crowd favorite and the reigning champion.

Once a valuable ally to the resistances against Ghidorah, now little more than a bloodthirsty brute in the Xilien arena.

  • Adaptational Badass: In the original Godzilla 2000, Orga was kind of a case of Dumb Muscle. Here, he's an incredibly skilled fighter that's been the champion of the Xilien arena for centuries.
  • Always Someone Better: Godzilla kills him in a few minutes despite his skill, showing just how heavily Godzilla outclasses nearly every other monster out there.
  • Fallen Hero: Used to be regarded as a hero, but ended up becoming the prized champion of the Xilien arena and enjoying every second.

     Monster X/Keizer Ghidorah
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/monster_x.png
Less than the sum of its parts.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/keizer_ghidorah.png
Less than a god, more than a man.

Several centuries prior, Ghidorah came to a strange conclusion; that one day, he would perish, and if he found no way to reproduce, then his empire would fall into the hands of beings far less suitable entities. To prevent this, he sought the assistance of the Xiliens, who were known to be capable of potent genetic alteration and splicing. They combined samples of his dna that he provided with samples of Keizer dna, harvested from the royal families of Planet X. The resulting creature ended up being far stronger than anticipated and thus was deemed unstable, so they manipulated its genetic code to restrict it into a less powerful but more stable form; the form of Monster X.

A clone of King Ghidorah VII created in the supposedly unlikely scenario of his death that proved a failure.

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: From a legitimate Ghidorah to a faulty attempt at cloning a Ghidorah by splicing in Keizer DNA.
  • Blood Knight: As Monster X, his mental faculties are together enough to enjoy battling strong opponents.
  • Clipped-Wing Angel: Despite the power behind his Ghidorah form, Gejin kills him quite rapidly by triple decapitation.
  • Gone Horribly Wrong: When they first cloned him, he was powerful beyond stability. Hence why they forced him into the Monster X body.
  • Transformation Horror: Okay, calling his transformation unpleasant is an understatement.

     Orochi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/orochi_2.png
The Eight-Headed Dragon.
The existence of a proto-universe is a theory held to by some as a distinct possibility; a sort of origin for the matter that was scattered throughout the universe upon the Big Bang.

While they are incorrect as to what created the universe, the former part of the theory is true.

Approximately five billion years prior to the birth of our universe, there existed another universe; a universe populated by mortals and gods. Many gods existed, but the two most pertinent to the story were Gamera, God of Life, and Orochi, God of Death. The two were akin to brothers, fighting side by side against a multitude of threats.

But then, the Iris Crisis happened. A demon lord named Iris stepped out of the Underworld and waged war on the gods; the ensuing battles left the universe in utter irreparable disrepair, and once Iris was finally defeated and banished to his homeworld once more, it became clear that the universe could not be fixed. It was destroyed, and the process began of remaking its remains into a new one.

Orochi dwelled on the problems of the old universe, and came to a tragic but undeniable(in his eyes) conclusion. Mortals, left to their own devices, would someday overpopulate; their worlds would fall, their people would starve. It had already begun to happen in the previous realm. He had to do something.

So, he created the Ghidorah lineage, a move that caused a powerful schism between him and the other gods; they abandoned him in disgust, and scattered.

Over the eons, the Ghidorahs conquered the universe and enacted culls to ensure overpopulation would not be an issue. Orochi could rest, believing he had solved the issue.

But then things changed. He felt the death of King Ghidorah VII. Then the betrayal of Tatsunari. Then the death of Keizer Ghidorah. All over the universe, civilizations were rising up, Ghidorah's demise proving to be a powerful motivator. He needed to track the problem to its source, and destroy it.

The progenitor of the Ghidorahs, responsible for the tyranny that has held the entire universe in its iron grip for eons.

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: Compared to other depictions of Orochi, this one is a god from a proto-universe.
  • Alien Blood: His blood is apparently white, superheated, and glowing.
  • Expy: Of the Infinity War version of Thanos. He's an immensely powerful entity who seeks to prevent overpopulation by way of mass genocide; unlike Thanos though, his plan involves more long term machinations rather than a one-and-done snap of death.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: And how. He created the Ghidorah lineage, meaning that every single event revolving around the Ghidoran Empire has ties straight back to him and would not have happened without him.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: He wants the universe to prosper, so he enacts culls to keep populations within manageable levels.
