    Frogger
Voiced by: Bob Sarlatte (Saturday Supercade), Dave Rivas (Frogger: The Great Quest), Kathleen Barr (Frogger Beyond onwards)

  • Kid Hero: Frogger Beyond establishes him as a young frog who's time and again faced off against threat after threat.
  • One-Hit-Point Wonder: In the original arcade game, as well as the 1997 game and its sequel.
  • Super Drowning Skills: Handwaved by him having a phobia of swimming due to a traumatic childhood experience, though doesn't explain why it passes to the other playable characters.

    Lumpy the Toad
Voiced by: Steve Brodie (Frogger: The Great Quest), Scott McNeil (Frogger Beyond onwards)

  • Early Installment Character-Design Difference: His design was never consistent across the games he appeared in, going through drastic changes in each new installment.
  • Gonk: Even with Frogger: The Great Quest's art-style in mind, Lumpy's initial design stands out in how gross he appeared. Later games would distance themselves from that design, making him appear easier on the eyes in comparison.
  • Informed Species: Zig-zagged due to Lumpy's inconsistent design. Lumpy in later installments of the Adventures series does appear closer to a toad by being much chubbier with a more de-saturated skin color, but he still embodies multiple traits of his frog friends. The Rescue is particularly egregious, appearing more like a typical frog in explorer get-up than any of his other appearances.
  • Mighty Glacier: In his playable segments in Helmet Chaos, he's got slower hops but is able to utilize his berry-induced allergy to turn into a large ball form to crush enemies that get in the way.

    Lily
Voiced by: Laara Sadiq
Frogger’s love interest.
  • Action Girl: Saves Frogger from a giant boulder in the opening, and travels with him to retrieve her kidnapped baby siblings.
  • Ascended Extra: In the 1997 she was only seen as a score pickup in the Retro levels, and during the ending. In Swampy's Revenge she's fully playable.
  • Damsel in Distress: Falls through a trap door and is captured in the endgame.
  • Non-Mammalian Hair: In Swampy's Revenge only, in all other game's she's hairless as any other frog.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Her name is spelled "Lillie" in Swampy's Revenge whereas it's spelled "Lily" everywhere else.
  • Tertiary Sexual Characteristics: Pink, eyelashes, long hair in Swampy's Revenge, and a bow in later games.

    Berry
Voiced by: Laara Sadiq
A tree frog who assists with her climbing skills.

Antagonists

    Swampy

  • Ascended Extra: Was originally just one of the many gators that Frogger jumped on in the original game.
  • Beat Them at Their Own Game: What his revenge plot ultimately boils down to- making his own video game that will outsell Frogger’s.
  • Big Bad: Of Swampy’s Revenge.
  • Didn't See That Coming: His grand plan is ultimately foiled by a baby frog that just happened to fall off the conveyor belt, and started messing with his control panel for fun.
  • Evil Is Petty: Starts his revenge plot after recalling Frogger jumping on his back at least twice. There might also be some jealousy involved, given Swampy was staring at a poster advertising Frogger 2, which he soon rips down.
  • Haunted House: His lair is located directly beneath one of these.
  • Non-Action Big Bad: Zigzagged Trope. Swampy is never fought directly, but he does his own dirty work with no minions to speak of.
  • Revenge: It’s right there in the title.
  • We Need a Distraction: Gets cornered by Frogger and Lily early on, so Swampy throws two baby frogs in opposite directions, forcing the frogs to split up to retrieve them while Swampy goes on his merry way.

    Mr. D
Voiced by: Chris Wilcox

  • Ascended Extra: Was a one-off encounter in The Great Quest who had little relevance to the plot. In Temple of the Frog, he's the Big Bad.

    Dr. Wani
Voiced by: Trevor Devall (English), Yasuhiko Kawazu (Japanese)
A Croc supervillain who antagonizes Frogger in the Adventures games.
  • Big Bad: Of the Adventures series, though he wasn't in the first game.
  • Species Surname: "Wani" is the Japanese word for Crocodilians.
