Sora
A bright and spirited boy from Destiny Islands whose peaceful life is shattered when his home is destroyed by the Heartless, and finds himself in possession of a peculiar weapon called the Keyblade. As a hero chosen to battle the forces of evil, Sora embarks on a quest to save all other worlds from suffering the same fate as his own.
- Action Hero
- Adaptational Nice Guy: He shows less Fantastic Racism to Luxord and Saix than in the games. This is mostly because of Axel's sacrifice and Emerl confirming Demyx's Accidental Truth despite Demyx being an Adaptational Jerkass towards Xion. By the end of the Kingdom Hearts 2 arc, Sora is training with Emerl to find a way to give Roxas and Xion their lives back, having come to the conclusion only Xemnas and Xigbar were complete monsters.
- Ain't Too Proud to Beg: When he learns from Metallix he can't beat Emerl because that would make him a villain, that Emerl wants to save Roxas and Xion, and that Sora doing it himself will cost his existence, Sora ends up doing the Dogeza.
- All-Loving Hero
- And Then John Was a Zombie: Subverted. He turns briefly into a Heartless, but gets better thanks to Kairi.
- Anime Hair: It's extremely spiky, and even keeps its shape underwater. And it appears that it's naturally like that.
- The Apprentice: He becomes this to Emerl.
- Badass Adorable
- Badass in Distress: In 3D. Emerl saves him by absorbind the damage Sora received.
- Bash Brothers: With every ally he makes. And there's a lot of them
- Been There, Shaped History: When ever he visits a Disney World.
- Benevolent Monsters: He turns into this in Halloween Town and Monstropolis.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Even an All-Loving Hero like Sora would hurt you if You'd threathen his friends.
- BFS: Crosses with Cool Key.
- Blood Knight: Downplayed; Sora likes challenges, but he isn't as violent as an actual Blood Knight.
- Book Dumb: Not very smart.
- Break the Cutie/Break the Badass: In 3D, Xehanort attempts to break him in order to turn him into his vessel. He failed, but only because Emerl absorbed Xehanort's darkness.
- Cheerful Child
- Childhood Friend Romance: With Kairi.
- The Chosen One: According to Dr. Koopa, he's Kairi's chosen one.
- Chronic Hero Syndrome: The fact that Sora is Kairi's chosen hero seemingly went to his head, as he's suppressing his angst in hopes to be the ideal hero. Xehanort tries to take advantage of it, but after he nearly succeeded, Sonic made sure Sora snaps out of it.
- The Cutie: A spirited idealistic young boy who's upbeat? He definitely qualifies.
- Dark Is Not Evil: As it turns out, SAVE files can only be used by person with string darkness in their souls. Keyword: Soul, not heart.
- Dude, Where's My Respect?: Sora (and Emerl) both complain to Yen Sid's statement that Sora being self-taught is not the right way of teaching. However, Yen Sid tried pulling the Keyblade Master card, prompting Emerl to pull the prince card.
- The Empath: It's stated that Sora's most powerful weapon is the ability to "connect his heart with anyone." This is deconstructed in the Dream Drop Distance arc as Xehanort, realizing that "everyone" includes himself, uses the malleable nature of Sora's heart against him to very nearly turn him into his thirteenth Soul Jar. He failed, because Sora connected himself with another empath: Emerl. Taken slightly further in III, where it's shown that the connection can go both ways - if someone's Sora's connected to feels pain, Sora will feel it as well.
- Even the Loving Hero Has Hated Ones: As much of an All-Loving Hero he is, Sora hates Xemnas, Xigbar, and Xehanort's past and present selves.
- Fighting Your Friend: He fights Riku twice. The first time is a case of Rival Turned Evil, and the second time he fights Riku without realizing.
- Friendly Rivalry: With Riku, who is a Rival Turned Evil.
- Friend to All Living Things: Except if that thing is not inherently homicidal, like the Heartless and Xemnas.
- Good Is Not Soft: He has no problem hurting women or children if they're evil (Maleficent and Ursula are women, Lock, Shock and Barrel are children, and they're all evil), and is aiming to kill multiple villains.
- Go Out with a Smile: In the Kingdom Hearts I arc, he gives Donald and Goofy a big, goofy grin before performing a Heroic Sacrifice that results in his death. Which doesn't last.
- Hairstyle Inertia: Since Sora was a kid, he has always had the same spiky, Anime Hair.
- The Hero: Of Kairi's story, according to Dr. Koopa. However, Dr. Koopa himself invoked this.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Riku, Donald and Goofy.
- He Who Fights Monsters: Implied, but defied. The implications are his Anti-Form and the fact Vanitas exists. Xehanort tries to invoke this by pulling a Grand Theft Me on Sora, but Emerl defies this by Taking the Bullet.
- Hidden Depths: He is a ditz, but understands well the philosophy of light and darkness. He also knows how to sing and dance.
- Hope Bringer: The reason Emerl believes so
- Wrong Genre Savvy: He once taught that Kairi actually loved Riku because of Riku's cool bad boy attitude. However, Kairi actually loved Sora for being a Kindhearted Simpleton.
