Artist: MS JONA

  • Badass Adorable: While already cute and capable as a Flower Knight, she was also this in childhood according to Red Ginger, having been the one to save her from a Pest-driven massacre incident.
  • Here We Go Again!: The end of her character quest, after having recovered from eating berries that weren't proven to pass the Universal Edibility test and getting bedridden because of it, finds another berry bush; with her intending to eat said berries as well.
  • Hero-Worshipper: She calls Red Ginger her "dream person", and she attributes getting into her job as a Flower Knight as following in the footsteps of her idol.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Eating wild berries that aren't proven safe to consume is one thing, as despite being bedridden ill because of it, she still managed to recover from that. But then shortly after she finds another berry bush, with her not remembering the last time and possibly subjecting herself to this again.
  • Utility Party Member: Most of her abilities orient her as this towards the Solar Drive, particularly after Rarity Growth; she buffs its damage by 70%, adds half a full charge at the start of a subjugation, and spawns several Altar Panels on the field that may help charge it faster. Furthermore, using the Solar Drive adds a damage buff to the entire team, further incentivizing its use.

Affection Item: Jewels
Language of Flowers: Unfaithfulness, Fickleness, Earnest Love

  • Ambiguously Brown: She's one of the darker skinned characters in the series, more so than the likes of Red Ginger.
  • Bowdlerise: She's a Shameless Fanservice Girl with a Stripperific appearance who refuses to wear more modest clothing, which makes the fact she does exactly that in the Mobile port all the more notable.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: She's well aware of her looks being a source of eye candy, and is subsequently very flirtatious with the Commander. It's to the point where if she were prompted to wear any ensemble of clothing that shows less skin, she'd adamantly refuse.
  • Stripperific: While obviously less pronounced in the Mobile versions, which downplay it to a bare midriff and short skirt at best, this trope is at its most pronounced with her original design: a thong and bra combo with armor plating covering her arms, bra and hips, plus strips of fabric holding some parts together; all else is just exposed skin.

  • Brain Freeze: Subjects herself to swallowing a cup of shaved ice in one gulp to beat the summer heat, and subsequently feels her head cracking as a consequence.
  • Chainmail Bikini: While she doesn't wear one as part of her ensemble, one of her summer exclusive lines has her mention scavaging through a junkyard to make a metal plated bikini.
  • Everyone Has Standards: As much as she likes subjecting herself to suffering, even she has moments where she doesn't do things the "hard way", citing how she hates the cold during winter (though, she still briefly considered swimming in ice-cold water as an activity).
  • Misery Builds Character: Early on she gives a comment which sounds like this philosophy, as she claims to have become the person she is today because she actively commits to activities that make her suffer. Keyword being "sounds like", as certain voice-lines change the context from harsh self-improvement, to she hurts herself because she enjoys it.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: While she commits to various activities in a manner that suggest she's strengthening herself, key lines suggest that she takes pleasure out of the pain and suffering she puts herself through. A few of her seasonal holiday lines makes this the most blatant: having the Commander tighten the bandages of her mummy costume for Halloween, or getting sunburned from her standing meditation session in summer — both instances garnering an enthused response from her.

Language of Flowers: Thoroughly Prepared, Effort, Victory

  • Child Soldier: She was born and raised on the front-lines, with a lot of her mentality carrying on into her adult life as a Flower Knight. From keeping a weapon by her side as she sleeps, to treating food as something to be done and over with quickly.
  • The Comically Serious: While it makes sense for a war veteran to not spending time savoring food in a battlefield setting, carrying that same mentality when being treated to cake in a place far from the war-zone is just silly.
  • Meaningful Name: Gladiolus is derived from the latin name Gladius, meaning sword. Hence Gladiolus's choice of weaponry being short swords.
  • Pillow Pistol: A variant; she keeps her swords with her even as she sleeps, a habit carried over from her Child Soldier days.
  • Reluctant Warrior: Inverted. Gladiolus admits that she does not like to fight, but feels that she only suits the battlefield, owing to being born and raised in a war-zone. Being in an otherwise peaceful or quiet setting makes her feel out of place, as fighting is her daily life.

  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Gets subject to this in a summer exclusive line, where her angry cries directed towards god for the lack of rain get met with a sudden rainstorm. But, in what could be interpreted as Divine Punishment, the rainfall becomes too much for the shrine maiden.
  • Hime Cut: She has blunt bangs, waist-length sidelocks, and hip-length straight hair. It complements her occupation as a Miko.
  • An Ice Person: Ice magic for her attacks; her skill attack being dubbed "Icicle Edge."
  • Miko: She's the shrine maiden of Banana Ocean who's a dedicated prayer to her god. Shrine maidens are rare in her region, leading to a lot of people wondering who or what she even is, which gets humorous when her getup gets labelled as cosplay during Halloween.

  • Sunny Sunflower Disposition: For the Flower Knight named Sunflower with a Flower Meaning of "Brightness", she naturally has a bright and positive attitude, with idealistic goals of bringing smiles to folks wronged by the Pests.

Language of Flowers: 1 Day Only Love
Artist: Moneti

  • Friend to All Children: Her motivation of being a Flower Knight is for her love of children, wanting them to smile and not cry from Pest-related hardships, even going as far as retrieving their toys from danger. She also wants to engage in fun activities with them, but the children are typically off-put by her generally stoic nature.
  • Girls Love Stuffed Animals: Aside from her favorite gift listed above being this, she has her own personal teddy bear seen in her battle sprites, at times holding it in one of her idle animations. Said teddy bear is actually her first gift from the Commander, according to her character quest when she puts aside her nightwatch duties to find the toy she lost.
  • Important Hair Accessory: The red ginger flower in her hair is revealed to be this in her character quest, as she received it after being saved by Hibiscus from a Pest attack that cost a village, and while she's been on-and-off about wearing it in public, the Commander's complement towards her about it has since made her keeps it on.
  • Light-Haired Swimmer: She's a bleached haired, tanned skin girl in swimwear whose residence is in Banana Ocean, a nation that is practically the beach shorelines.
  • Walking Swimsuit Scene: What you see her wearing is how she appears in scenes featuring her, with no other clothes (at least shown) to speak of.

  • Custom Uniform of Sexy: By default, her outfit is not only a maid uniform, its also one that makes her midriff bare. Her Swimsuit form is a more exaggerated case, obviously being moreso a swimsuit than maid's outfit despite also including the apron skirt and sleeves.
  • Flechette Storm: Water Lily's base form has her conjure many knifes in her Skill attack (aptly named "Thousand Guillotine") to surround her chosen foe in a stand-still before suddenly skewering them on command — not unlike a certain other Ninja Maid from Touhou Project.
  • Ninja Maid: She's the latest servant of Banana Ocean's Royal Palace, yet is also a Flower Knight — one capable of surrounding and overwhelming her foe with a Flechette Storm.
  • Take This Job and Shove It: She previously served in another nation outside of Banana Ocean, but had to work under a leader who was a "hard-headed asshole", prompting her to find work elsewhere, with Banana Ocean's queen accommodating her well in comparison.

  • Family of Choice: She formed a family-like bond with Japanese Bindweed and Moon Vine over their shared circumstances in the orphanage, and proudly states in present day that anyone can create a family someday.

  • Exposed to the Elements: She puts this trope to its test in the event "Finding the Strength to Help the Ruler", where she treks up the frozen mountain within Winter Rose in her usual ensemble. The combined altitude and harsh conditions prove too much for Mountain Lily despite her World Flower blessing protecting her, lapsing into unconciousness as she makes her way up.
  • Mechanically Unusual Class: Most 5 star knights share the same Evolution requirements as the others (three 100-year Blums and two 20-year Blums), but Mountain Lily despite her rarity instead has the requirements of a 4 star knight (one 100-year Blum and four 20-year Blums).

  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: Rosy Lily's ensemble in all forms, except the Bloomed Evolution, has her midriff revealed.
  • Death from Above: Her skill attack "Princess Heart" has her spear fire several energy blast high into the sky to target the individual targets on the opposing field.
  • Flowers of Femininity: Wears her namesake flower as a hairclip attached to her headband.
  • Helicopter Parents: Her Bloomed character quest has her deal with her parents try to have her transfered to another knight unit after a particular battle made them realize that she was deliberately in a dangerous position.
  • Queer Flowers: She represents a specific type of lily, Lilium rubellum, and holds a crush for the female Gladiolus. Played With, as she also holds feelings for the male Knight Commander, making her more bisexual.

  • Queer Flowers: Implied yet played with. She represents a type of lily, Lilium concolor, and in her character quest she finds herself getting Distracted by the Sexy when glancing at both Mountain Lily and the Commander during training.

  • Childhood Friends: With Hibiscus, though their relationship veers closer to Vitriolic Best Buds with how Anthurium likes to tease her.
  • Friendly Rivalry: Hibiscus is a childhood friend of hers, and likes of them as a rival Flower Knight (though, it seems one-sided according to one line).
  • Hero-Worshipper: Like with Hibiscus, she views Red Ginger as who she wants to be or even surpass, and is why she became a Flower Knight.
  • Hypocritical Heartwarming: She likes to tease Hibiscus for her bright and innocent nature, but takes issue with anyone else bullying them, claiming to be the only one allowed to do so.
  • Sweet Tooth: She's a fan of desert food, with cake naturally being her favorite gift, but she feels the need to put off the calories, else she gets fat and lose her figure.

  • Flower Motifs: Her namesake is often grown in the United States's baseball stadiums, hence her overall baseball theme in her base form's stances and ball pitches.

  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Because of hotter climate of nations like Banana Ocean, she feels disinterested as a result, yet her "slacking" idle and walking animations still play if she's sent on a mission in Winter Rose, her home region.
  • The Slacker: She seems like a perfectly capable Flower Knight at a glance, but then she'll suddenly discard her bow and sloutch with a sleepy face. Played With, as she rationalizes her behavior as due to the hot temperature of where she works, in contrast to where she used to live (Winter Rose).

  • Bare-Fisted Monk: They're a Blunt-type Flower Knight who attacks with her very fists.
  • Functional Addict: Despite heavily indulging in alcohol like her associates, she's capable of being otherwise stable with her chosen close-quarters fighting style, which typically requires focus and coordination to be otherwise good at.

  • Aggressive Submissive: Downplayed. She explicitly states in her introduction that she refers to herself as the Commander's, claiming them to be free to do whatever they want with her, implicitly of a sexual nature. Mid-affection, she's confused as to why they don't just take the invitation and "come at her like a stampeding horse."
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Once fell for a prior Commander who left her for dead by sending her on a mission that would've killed her. Even before then, the relationship is heavily implied to be abusive in nature, and has been called "mentally ill" for being so attached to them.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: She wears a thigh high right boot and ankle high left boot.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: She hides much of her emotions behind a stoic front, with her tone of voice being restrained. Once she reaches the threshold, she starts loving the Commander genuinely and stops with the submissive act, with her voice also shifting in tone once her Blooming Evolution is achieved.

  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: Her skirt is horizontally wide in reference to the similarly large and wide dimensions of her namesake's water lily (albeit not to the same dimensions as the real life equivalent; at three meters in diameter).
  • Dissonant Serenity: If the fact that she wields an axe isn't the clear giveaway of her calm yet psychotic nature, the gloves stained with a red liquid in her June Bride form definitely is.
  • Girl with Psycho Weapon: Being a murderous Yandere, she specializes in the classic axe. Further emphasizing the "psycho" part of this trope, her Skill attack(s) feature a splash of blood upon slashing through her opponent.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Wears a form-fitting crop top (with a Cleavage Window in the uncensored version) that exposes her midriff and a flayed out skirt that's capable of showing a fair bit of her underside. Likely intentional on her part, since she wants to draw the commander to her.
  • Weapon Specialization: In contrast to Lavender and Lily of the Valley's respective Spell Book and Magic Wand arsenal, Royal Water Lily has an axe as a straightforward murder weapon for a yandere girl.
  • Yandere: She wants the commander — or rather, their body — and would secretly murder anybody that's considered a threat. Unlike the other yandere girls, who aren't exactly subtle about their feelings for the commander or what they think of the competition, Royal's more calm and calculating, determining whether or not somebody's her "target."

  • Cosmic Motifs: She's heavily associated with the moon. Whether moon-viewing in her past time and wanting to physically feel it, to forming the moon with her wand to cast Moonlight Cannon.
  • Ethereal White Dress: As a complement to her mystical moon motif, Evening Primrose dresses in white nightgown by default.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: She wears a thigh high stocking only on her left leg.
  • Lunacy: Her skill attack is Moonlight Cannon, blasting the opponent side with a beam of lunar energy from above.
  • Moon Rabbit: Associated with the rabbits on the moon due to her moon theme — her standard attack involving burst of magic in the shape of rabbits, and the bow atop her head forms rabbit ears when casting said magic.
  • Reluctant Fanservice Girl: She's evidently not fond of dressing in her Easter outfit, but she still holds to the position given to her, and at high affection admits to being fine with the commander seeing her in this manner.
  • Tragic Dream: She wishes to touch the moon itself, rather than simply view it from afar. She does feel a sense of sadness when looking at the moon, hinting that even she knows how impossible this dream of hers is.

    • Gaillardia's association with Sneezeweed is likely due to the latter's namesake plant also having association with the native americans, there being a culture in which dried Helenium plants are used to force evil spirits out of their bodies via sneezing.
  • For Happiness: She can't ever leave people who cry alone, wishing to make them smile in any way she can.

  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Grabbing the rainbow sword from the stone seems to have not only made her more powerful, but also capable of summoning UI elements of FKG into reality, with her holding up a 6 Star rainbow border after her form change, and spawning her own variant of the Solar Drive button in her skill attack.
  • Death from Above: For the third hit of her skill attack, upon rapidly pressing her own Solar Drive button, she summons a rainbow solar beam from the heavens to strike her chosen foe down.
  • Flower Motifs: The flowering shrub she's based on is known for its wide variety of colors its flowers can change into, which is referenced with the variety of colors in Lantana's outfits, especially in her Flower Festival form with the Rainbow Motif.
  • Holiday Motif: While Lantana's not as blatant a representation as her friend Summer Squash, with their pumpkin/Jack-o-Lantern theme, she still represents the season of Halloween alongside said friend, looking like a young vampire girl and having her own pumpkin mask that she wears for scaring people.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While she's a KusogakiTranslation who likes to tease and mess with those close to her, particularly with her close friend Summer Squash, she does ultimately care more than first impressions may say. The best showcase of Lantana's heart is with her Aqua Shadow counterpart, who while on the verge of death, willingly gave up the rest of her life-force to Aqua Summer Squash to preserve their life.
  • Shout-Out: Flower Festival form's Garden animation B has Lantana do the classic Dragon Ball power-up stance, complete with her own (rainbow) Battle Aura.
  • Troll: She's a very mischievous girl who enjoys messing with those around her, particularly with her friend Summer Squash. From snatching their Jack-O-Lantern skirt to wear it herself, or goading them to wear an embarrassingly skimpy swimsuit, all for a laugh.
  • Vampire Lolita Archetype: While she's not explicitly stated to a vampire, she still invokes the archetype with her overall appearance (a young girl with wings and fangs of a vampire) to coincide with her loose Halloween theme alongside Summer Squash.

  • Holiday Motif: Her base form's design pulls from the Jack-O-Lantern pumpkins which are famously used for in Halloween.
  • Improbable Weapon User: She fights via her small Halloween basket, and shoots out large candy from the mouth of a massive Jack-O-Lantern for her skill attack.
  • I See Dead People: She claims to have been seeing ghosts since she was little, and is accompanied by a small ghost companion that only a handful of people (herself included) acknowledge.
  • Meaningful Name: Her Japanese name "Pepo" derives from the general scientific name Cucurbita pepo, representing not only the winter squash's pumpkin and its famous Jack-O-Lantern in her design, she also represent the immature summer squash variants that are harvested before their ripening.

  • Flower Motifs: Sandersonia's namesake flower has the common name of Christmas bells due to the flower's shape and coloration being reminiscent of a small golden bell, hence why Sandersonia holds onto and weaponizes two hand-bells.
  • Musical Assassin: She attacks her foes with the chimes of her bells.
  • Sense Freak: Because of her Super-Hearing, she takes in the simple pleasures of the sounds she hears around her. At high enough Affection, she gets particularly fond of listening to the Commander's voice and/or heartbeat.
  • Super-Hearing: She's particularly sensitive to hearing sounds, taking in all the little sounds with such acute awareness, even to the point that she claims being able to hear from very far away.

  • Stealth Pun: She alongside Tree Peony and Herbaceous Peony visually display the Japanese proverb "standing like a garden peony, sitting like a tree peony, and walking like a lily" in their idle animations; in her case, Lily is strutting to the left and right in her idle.
  • Sword Cane: Her microphone stand doubles as a place to conceal her bladed weapon.

  • The Cutie: Rain Lily prides herself on her cute appearance, though this also makes her appear sly because of said pride, as while she's got plenty of people who fawn over her, she's also got people accusing her of being a brat.
  • Flower Motifs: Her flower is named as such for it blooming a few days after rainstorms into the autumn seasons. Not only does the young girl evoke the image of rain with her white polka dot on blue style clothing, but she also relaxes to quiet rainfalls, saying they "heal her heart".
  • Projectile Kiss: For her skill attack, she sends out a blue heart in this manner, followed by her smashing it with her hammer to have it burst into multiple hearts that tidal wave the opponents.
  • Weapon-Based Characterization: Her weapon is a dainty bar with an attached nail hammer plus flower accessories which, while much smaller than the average blunt-based weaponry, is still a hard hitting weapon all the same despite its cutesy look, which ties in with Rain Lily being a small cutesy girl who's tougher than she looks.

  • Flower Motifs: The flower/strobiles of the Humulus lupulus is cultivated for its use as an ingredient in herbal medicines and various beverages — Beer being its most popular use. Not only is Hop a perpetual alcoholic, she's a Hard-Drinking Party Girl even in the context of the other heavy-drinkers she's associated with.
  • Frothy Mugs of Water: In the Mobile versions, her wine glass gets replaced with a clear glass bottlenote  of what looks to be orange juice, despite being a clearly tipsy girl with dialogue casually mentioning alcohol. Even weirder, this only applies to her base form, with the wine in her Hotspring Yukata form being completely untouched.
  • Hard-Drinking Party Girl: Exaggerated. Out of all the girls of the "four heavy-drinkers" group, she's the one who not only loves having a drinking party, she loves drinking — period.

While she bluntly states to the Commander this trope, she notes that she's willing to keep her integrity as a Flower Knight stable by remaining respectful.
  • Freudian Excuse: Her general "Man-Hating" attitude and dislike over the way she's viewed stems from her growing up in a household where she had many brothers, implicitly treating her in a manner that called into question her "girly" traits.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Across her base and Evolved forms, she's got a wide toothy grin across her face.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Purin, a Japanese custard pudding. She demands the stuff at early Blooming affection, and her Bloomed form has her hold up a large plate of custard.

  • Flower Motifs: The Atropa belladonna, also known by its one of its more apt commons names "deadly nightshade", is one of the most well-known toxic plants, with its many tropane alkaloids causing severe if not lethal damage to one's system. With this in mind, is it any wonder that Belladonna is an Obviously Evil Flower Knight? The flowers toxic anticholinergic properties that affect the human brain can also be traced back from Belladonna's Hypnotic Eyes.
  • Hypnotic Eyes: She wants you to stare deep into her solid blue eyes... and to never stop. The Commander even gets subject to this in the beginning of the "Being On The Move Stamp Rally" event until being broken free by an intercepting Evergreen Candytuft and Texas Bluebell.

All this focus on her mammary (as well as its size) may be in reference to her namesake, also known as the Silene vulgaris or Bladder campion, being known for having a swollen calyx behind its flowers.
  • D-Cup Distress: While all the cracks and nicknames about her bust is certainly not helping, she has many issues related to wearing outfits that are too small for her, having a rough time supporting their weight, or with it just generally getting in the way.

This becomes a problem when the townsfolk become too dependent on Plumeria's kindness.

  • Terminally Dependent Society: She ended up turning an entire town in Blossom Hill into this with her motherly pampering making her Loved by All. A few days of Plumeria's absence from the town caused its residents to suffer from pampering withdrawal, shutting down the markets and leaving everyone either absent or laying on the ground in exhaustion, all this best described as a city "on the verge of extinction".

And with how bad her childhood went, she at the time definitely believed this to be the case.
  • Cool Mask: She keeps a Tengu mask passed down from her master to keep herself living incognito in the home village that outcasted her.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: She was a child who was born on the night where a shooting star fell from the sky, christening her as a "Bad Omen" by the villagers of her remote home. While raised in secret by her parents from the village to avoid keep her safe, the day the villagers found her sentenced her to exile — sending her to death by drowning. When her parents tried to save her from being washed away, they were devoured by a shark before her very eyes. After waking up on a beachside shore the following morning, she was taken in by an old hermit from the mountains to be raised into the girl she is today.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: Beneath their harsh front is a girl who wishes to seek companionship, yet has trouble getting along with others. One of her favorite spells — writing somebody's name on the palm of her hand three times — is for the sake of trying to have them as her friend.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: She's harsh and standoffish upon first meetup, yet she wishes to get along with others — best exemplied with her Character Development visualized by the stances of her evolutions: base form being in a cautious fighting stance, while Bloomed she's more bashful with a smile as her default expression.

  • Animals Hate Her: Whenever she tries to interact with animals, they'll either bite her or chase after them. Doesn't stop her from trying to fawn over them.
  • Born Unlucky: Because of the various things that have happened to her, lots of people worry about her doing just about anything that may result in misfortune following soon after. The fact that one of these misfortunes include a shooting star nearly hitting her on the night of Tanabata says it all.
  • Made of Iron: She's endure a lot injuries, including falling off a cliff, getting hit by a carriage, and large rocks falling onto her. All these could've gravely injured if not outright killed her, yet she's no worse for wear in the long run.
  • Noodle Incident: She was once swept out to sea during the post-Tanabata cleaning where the leaves would be tossed to the sea, with no specifics on how she herself got caught up in that situation.
  • The Pollyanna: She's been subject to a lot of injuries, dealing with animals that attack her, and is just overall Born Unlucky, yet she keeps a cheery attitude to her all the same.
  • Shear Menace: Her weapon is a large pair of scissors, which also serve as her tool for her arts and crafts interest.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: As shown in the Yonkoma with Baikamo's pet duck, she doesn't so much mind getting bitten by animals, as she likes the resulting pain... likes it a bit too much.

  • Big Sister Worship: She's the eldest sister of a financially poor family, who had to take over motherly duties for her younger siblings, while also spoiling them a fair bit. As such, she's rather loved by all her brothers and sisters.
  • Delayed Explosion: A variant with her gauntlet; the rocket fist is capable of launching itself with a burst of fire, separating from the handle part while being attached to a chain. The problem is, each and every time Echeveria uses the weapon, it just fails to launch at her opponent when she's calling for it, only firing after a few seconds when she lets her guard down.
  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: She apparently does naked gymnastics to relieve stress, even offering for the Commander to try it sometime.
  • Power Fist: She wields a gauntlet attached to a handle, with it inexplicably growing into a larger fist for her skill attack.

The Phantom Thief known as The Black Shadow... who's not exactly the definition of a brooding villain she portrays herself as.
  • Accidental Hero: According to the Commander in the character quest, her history of stealing is laced with her also helping out people and exposing criminals, seemingly without intending to.
  • Beneath the Mask: Its evident that this "Great Phantom Thief Nightshade" is largely a persona she's projecting to hide her real personality, a dorky wannabe rather than a cool and brooding thief. Though because this is Nightshade, she's bad at hiding it — certain lines have her try to maintain her persona after breaking character for a bit, while other lines have her put it on hold when being frank or serious.
  • Calling Card: Weaponized as part of her skill attack, to add to the Phantom Thief motif.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Literal meaning aside, Nightshade in her debut special event tries to proclaim herself as the culprit of the thieving situation with pride, only to get shot down by Streptocarpus proclaiming her not the ultimate culprit.
  • Chopper on Standby: The finale of her Darkness Fleur skill: making a getaway from an inexplicable helicopter ladder with her spoils.
  • Death Dealer: Her standard attack is throwing out a handful of sharp cards that get embed into the foe.
  • Domino Mask: She wears a mask that covers the area around her eyes.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Nightshade may not wish to give away a treasure she sought for, but Garden Croton's proposed plan of handing over the witch's belongings to break her curse, then subjecting the witch to a harsh group beat-down to get the treasure back is enough to have Nightshade taken aback.
Nightshade: Eh... No, I'm not going to go that far...
Larkspur: This girl is a monster-pa.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Nightshade may paint herself as this villainous mastermind, but she's far from a bad person at heart. So long as her persona doesn't get the better of her in one way or another, she has the capacity of doing good and caring for others.
    • For the April Fools event focusing on her, she's evidently grateful towards Streptocarpus for returning their stolen mask, though she's quick to put her persona back on to thank them in a rather Tsundere manner.
    • The cake parcel case Yonkoma has her alongside Larkspur sneak a gift of cake to Streptocarpus, and not taking credit for it by delivering it in Japanese Barberry's name.
  • Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain: Gods and goddesses knows she tries to present herself as a cunning Phantom Thief, yet any of her attempts at projecting this image is either ignored, upstaged by actual thieves, or gets undercut by just plain bad luck/klutzy coordination. What's worse, she's more effective as a hero than a villain, but she doesn't want to be viewed that way.
  • Not Me This Time: The "Phantom Thief" Nightshade Appears?? April Fools event features multiple Flower Knights who had their belongings stolen, and while the event name alone suggests that she'd be responsible, it's ultimately revealed that Nightshade is just as much a victim of the thieving as the rest, the final quest item to retrieve being her iconic mask.
  • Phantom Thief: Her general theme is this, wearing a custom fancy suit with a tophat and mask, having a Great Detective rival in Streptocarpus, and trying to live up to the image in a Card-Carrying Villain fashion. Keyword being "trying."
  • Wardrobe Flaw of Characterization: She naturally dresses as fancy as can be to befit her Phantom Thief image, yet one design aspect clashes with her tidy look: her top being unbuttoned in the middle, showing some cleavage. Like how she tries to appear neat and classy in appearance yet she neglects to button her top, Nightshade projects herself as a Phantom Thief to the best of her ability and falls short of being that because of an oversight.

  • Critical Hit Class: Notable among this type for having a massive 150% critical damage increase, contributing to her Glass Cannon traits.
  • Glass Cannon: Once Rarity Grown, she gets a variety of skills that aid in her output, with damage to her Critical Hits getting a massive boost, along with a HP-based damage multiplier that further adds to her strength. The "Glass" part is downplayed, as while she lacks in defensive abilities, plus her Full Health Bonus is required to get them to full strength, it's mostly offset by her Life Drain skill. With the right setup, her skill attack is capable of one-shotting anything that isn't a Superboss.
  • Improbable Weapon User: She throws vials of rainbow pigment that explode.
  • Rainbow Motif: As to be expected from somebody named Rainbow Rose, she's got the rainbow colors all over in her design — including her hair having a glossy, colorful look akin to an actual rainbow — and fights with exploding rainbow pigments. All this based on the fact that her namesake is a rose that's been artificially colored into a multicolored flower with the use of vegetable dye in a manner that exploits the rose's method of drawing water.

Of course, she also makes pointedly clear in her affection lines that she considers the person she falls for the main exception, even if she still suffers embarrassment.
  • Irony: Despite the fact that Godetia hates seeing exposed skin to the point of freaking out, she's a resident of Banana Ocean, a hot beach enviroment that naturally features its inhabitants dressing in either swimsuits or airy and revealing outfits.
  • The Medic: She feels inclined to help wounded and injured animals with her medical expertise, with her extending that help towards other people (so long as she doesn't realize that their skin is exposed).

  • The Gunslinger: Her clearly defined profession, having been taught by her father to be a gun-totting, gun-twirling, and trick-shotting for the gun show back then, with this carrying over into her Flower Knight career.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Her Language of Flowers is "Short-Tempered", which is actually subverted in practice with the girl's disipline, along with taking measures to avoid this with a work alone mentality. The one time she truly went berserk and played the trope straight was when her troupe was ambushed by Pest and wiped out completely.
  • Trigger-Happy: She has lived her life with guns for her gun show troupe, and that she habitually fires her guns (mercifully away from the innocents) out of fear or anger. It's to the point that if she doesn't get the chance of firing her guns, she'd get nervous; fearing she's losing her edge as a gunslinger.

  • All or Nothing: All her Status Buffs orient her as this type of Flower Knight, giving her whole team extra attack stat and damage buffs plus guaranteed Extra Turn and critical hit (with extra damage from said crit) for herself... but they only last on the first turn of battle.
  • Ambiguously Bi: While she can easily fall for the male Commander, she's prone to being flirty towards the female Balsam, saying "I love you" towards them in a manner that doesn't come across as platonic (which may or may not be the case when coming from Balsam herself) and claiming to feel her body "lighting up" in response to them, all just to tease the girl. Even weirder is that they're cousins.

Her idle line even has her consider practicing the act of pleasing men, with her moaning a bit... because massaging takes a lot of muscle work. Lampshaded in the former line:

  • Cuteness Proximity: She loves cat. For that reason, she deliberately limits herself on how much she can interact with a cat to three minutes at a time (one extra at most). This behavior isn't necessarily limited to cat either, as shown with her showing similar habits in her affection being raised.
  • Flower Motifs: The cats general dislike of the girl to the point of actively avoiding her stems from her namesake having a scent that's capable of detering cats.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: By the end of the "Welcome to South Cat Isle" event, after spending much of her time having the cat population avoiding her, one approaching cat offers to let her stroke them as a reward for her work in dealing with the Pest invasion. Needless to say, she's overjoyed... and overstimulated with Cuteness Proximity, rushing away in response.

  • Actually Not a Vampire: Sure, she looks the part with her pale skin and ensemble of clothes, but the fact she has an ego comparable to Nightshade (which is lampshaded with one of the dialogue options in her debut event) means it's all likely played up. Her 'My Page Idle' line makes this blatant: questioning to herself, under the assumption no one's listening in, how the Commander knows she actually isn't a vampire.
  • Daywalking Vampire: She's a self-proclaimed vampire from Banana Ocean, a sunny beach-side nation, and has the rumored title of "the Scorched Vampire" due to fighting in the daylight of her associated home; Lilac clarifying that sunlight still isn't good for her despite this.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Her chalky-pale skin and black hair really enhance her vampiric appearance.
