Onuris

Played by: Heather Allen

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/onuris_4.png
Onuris and Anhuret

A priest of Horus who is looking for evidence of his lost heritage.

Tropes:

  • Holy Hand Grenade: Onuris' spells that aren't directly fire related tend to focus on this.
  • Playing with Fire: As a priest focused on Horus' power related to the sun, his spells that aren't holy (see above) have to do with flames or heat instead.
  • Semi-Divine: He is an Aasimar and as such has a divine element to his heritage.
  • The Cynic: He has a tendency to see the world as a glass half empty sort of person though not quite to the same degree as Sagira.

    Sagira

Sagira Maibe

Played by: Jessica Jenkins

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sagira_6.png
Sagira Maibe

A former gang member and current black marketeer, Sagira is a no-nonsense ranger with Suli ancestry.

Tropes:

    Sitra

Sitra Naham-ra

Played by: Rachel Sandidge

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sitra_new_resize.jpg
Sitra Naham-ra

Sitra is a human painter who wishes to save her family from a terrible curse...

Tropes:

  • Curse Escape Clause: Sitra is hoping to find one of these in order to save her family.
  • Dual Wielding: Two-weapon sneak attack is Sitra's fighting style of choice.
  • Justified Criminal: While Sitra has committed some crimes in her younger days, these have been for survival rather than as a lifestyle choice.

    Sudi

Sudi Kontar

Played by: Jordan Jenkins

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1586895581536_sudi.jpg
Sudi, the Last Eye of Ra

Sudi is a catfolk ex-con who took up a monastic lifestyle. It may be the case that his past holds much more than meets the eye...

Tropes:

  • Good Old Fisticuffs: Sudi's weapon of choice.
  • Reformed Criminal: Sudi was in deep with The Viper and the Faded Gang but managed to earn his freedom and does not want to ever work with criminals again.
  • Sizeshifter: Eventually Sudi gains the power to double his size thanks to his training as a Living Monolith.

    Spoilers for Book 3—Hollis

Hollis Starkweather

Played by: Jessica Jenkins

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hollis_new_1_resize_5.jpg
Hollis and Sugar

Hollis is an elven archeologist and researcher from the Mana Wastes who joins the group shortly after Sagira leaves.

Tropes:

  • Conspiracy Theorist: Mostly played for laughs, but Hollis does try to piece together everything she encounters...
  • Southern-Fried Genius: Hollis is definitely brilliant and just as definitely the fastest spell in Alkenstar.

    Spoilers for Book 3—Masika

Masika

Played by: Heather Allen

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/masika_new_1_resized.jpg
Masika with Narmer

Masika is an Undine shaman who joins the party after Onuris' untimely demise... Her interest in mechanical engineering and powerful magic are of great aid to the Doorkeepers.

Tropes:

  • Wrench Wench: Masika's technical expertise helps in many areas where magic fails, especially when dealing with the Lost Technology prevalent in the story.

Mummy's Mask Key NPCs

    Falto

Falto Walhaz

Played by: Rick Sandidge

Falto is a former Pathfinder looking for evidence of his father's missing expedition into Osirion. Though he adventures with a different group than the Doorkeepers, he is a friend and ally to them throughout their travels in Wati.

Tropes:

  • Fragile Speedster: Being a swashbuckler, Falto excels at dealing damage and getting out of the way but he can't take much punishment if something does slip past his defenses.
  • Genius Ditz: While Falto may not understand much about Osirion, trusts just about everyone, and has few, if any backup plans, he is a seasoned adventurer and people who underestimate his talent find that out the hard way.
  • Naïve Newcomer: While Falto is an experienced traveler, he is not well-versed in Osiriani culture or even language. Despite his status as a veteran of the Pathfinder society it is relatively easy to take advantage of his naivette.

    Viper

The Viper

Played by: Rick Sandidge

The Viper is the head of the criminal gang known as The Faded. He is a powerful crime boss with a mysterious past that intertwines with several members of the Doorkeepers...

Tropes:

  • Pragmatic Villainy: If The Viper has done something to benefit you, it's because he sees something in it for him too. There is no other reason.
  • Tranquil Fury: The Viper will not raise his voice when he comes for you. Honestly, if he wants to kill you, you won't know until you're dead...
  • Wound That Will Not Heal: Though he keeps it under wraps, he does suffer from some sort of malady. No one knows what it is or how he got it however.

    Spoilers for Book 3—Sugar

Sugar

Played by: Rick Sandidge

Sugar is Hollis' wise-cracking silkie chicken familiar. Though she can only speak with Hollis, her wisdom and advice are invaluable.

Tropes:

  • Polly Wants a Microphone: Sugar is one of the few chickens to make it to this trope!
  • Southern Belle: Likely inspired by Hollis, Sugar really leans into the southern lingo of the United States.
  • Talking Animal: Though she can only talk to Hollis or other birds, Sugar has plenty to say.

    Spoilers for Book 3—Narmer

Narmer

Played by: Rick Sandidge

Narmer is a mechanical catfish designed by Masika who likes to collect things, tell jokes, and generally be a nuisance. However he has a big heart and truly cares about all the Doorkeepers.

Tropes:

  • Chest Blaster: More than once it's implied Narmer has one of these!
  • Collector of the Strange: Narmer has a number of items in his chest plate including a pet rock and a scorpion named Stinger Jr.
  • Fang Thpeak: Narmer's unusual method of speaking. Justified in that he's a mechanical catfish mimicking human speech.
  • Funny Robot: An unusual fantasy version, Narmer is primarily a comedian and friend.

Tyrant's Grasp PCs

    Ailsa

Ailsa Driscoll

Played by: Jessica Jenkins

The gravekeeper of Roslar's Coffer, Ailsa is a cheerful, optimistic soul. She is Darcy's half-sister by the same father but an orcish mother. She is a bard that specializes in eulogies for the dead.

Tropes:

  • Magic Music: Ailsa's songs all fit into this category but it's notable in that her music can even have effects on the undead who are otherwise immune to such things.
  • The Idealist: Ailsa fits this to a T. While it can cause some issues for the team, she is also always the first to trust and to open up.

    Darcy

Darcy Driscoll

Played by: Rachel Sandidge

Darcy is a barmaid and tattoo artist who works in her father's pub. She is Ailsa's half-sister by the same father but with an elven mother and has a darker, pessimistic outlook on life. She is a sorceress who has plenty of fire and force for those who upset her or anyone who needs a good thwacking.

Tropes:

  • Animated Tattoo: Darcy has a special tattoo of her familiar, Gus the Bat.
  • Pit Trap: Though Darcy has a decent spell repertoire, her go-to tends to be spells that create pits.
  • Sour Supporter: Though devoted to her allies, Darcy is not very hopeful and tends to see the worst in every situation, not that it means she's always wrong...

    Octavius

Octavius Black

Played by: Jordan Jenkins

Octavius is a former soldier from the Fourth Mendevian Crusade. Now that he's retired from the military, he's a woodcarver and family man who tries to forget about the troubles he's seen in the Worldwound. Unfortunately for him, he is an oracle of battle and trouble seems to follow in his wake...

Tropes:

  • Combat Medic: Though he is a warrior, Octavius also is the team's medic, often dishing out healing spells for the benefit of the group. That is, in between smashing things with a hammer or using his spells for offense.
  • Emotion Suppression: Early on, Octavius does not want to openly discuss his feelings. Justified in that, as the story begins, he's already been through the ringer.
  • Holy Hand Grenade: Octavius' offensive spells focus on various levels of holy or divine energy.

    Rosemund

Rosemund Stewart

Played by: Ross Scoggin

Rosemund is a Knight of Ozem stationed in Roslar's Coffer. She is a paladin of Iomedae the Inheritor and a warrior focused on protecting her allies. While shy and pensive, Rosemund may have to be in the spotlight more often than she wishes.

Tropes:

  • Barrier Warrior: As a Sacred Shield, most of Rosemund's special powers focus on bolstering and protecting her allies instead of smiting evil.
  • Healing Hands: Being a paladin, Rosemund has access to some powerful healing magic.
  • Knightly Sword and Shield: Rosemund's weapons of choice. Interestingly, she sometimes relies on Shield Bash attacks.
  • Stone Wall: While she can deal some damage, Rosemund is much more focused on defense than offense in contrast with Valorae. Between heavy armor and her paladin healing abilities, she can stay in the fight for a long time.

    Valorae

Valorae Lionheart

Played by: Heather Allen

Valorae is a stablemaster and rancher who moved to Roslar's Coffer after retiring from the Knights of Ozem. She retains her skill as a mounted knight and is a cavalier without peer. She is accompanied by Iarfhlaith (pronounced like Ear-loff), the spirit of a unicorn who serves as her mount.

Tropes:

  • Cool Horse: Iarfhlaith definitely qualifies. As a bonus, he doesn't even need to eat!
  • Glass Cannon: While certainly not a pushover, in contrast to Rose, Val is much more offense than defense. The addition of a scythe and naginata to her arsenal only continues to cement that fact.
  • Sinister Scythe: Despite Valorae's tendency toward honor and kindness, she wields a wicked blade...

Spoilers for the end of Book 2—Cypress

Cypress

Played by: Jessica Jenkins

Cypress joins the group after they lose Ailsa in the Bastion of Light. She is an inquisitor who went into deep cover with a group of Whispering Way agents and betrayed them in service of "her lady". Though she has not explicitly stated it, it's heavily implied she is a servant of Pharasma.

Tropes:

  • Heel–Face Turn: Cypress' introduction is basically this. Whether or not it sticks will be seen.
  • Long-Range Fighter: Cypress focuses on her crossbow to send the pain to enemies at a distance. While she can defend herself in melee, it isn't her favored fighting style.

Tyrant's Grasp Key NPCs

    Spoiler for mid Book 1—Gus

Gus the Bat

Played by: Rick Sandidge

Gus is Darcy's loyal familiar who usually blends into her tattoos. However, he's very handy in a pinch and is primarily concerned with his master's emotional well-being.

Tropes:

  • Talking Animal: He is only really able to speak with Darcy and usually lets her do the talking but he definitely qualifies.
  • The Shrink: Gus may be an amateur version but that doesn't stop him from doing his best to navigate Darcy through her emotional states.

    Spoiler for mid Book 1—Mitcena

Mitcena, Catrina Psychopomp

Played by: Rick Sandidge

Mitcena is the primary antagonist of the first book more out of bureaucratic obligation than any sort of malice. Her goal is to ensure the Risen Shrikes remain dead like they were supposed to when they arrived on the Dead Roads.

Tropes:

  • Anti-Villain: Mitcena is truly only trying to make sure the dead roads function the way they were supposed to. She is not cruel, simply someone who must perform their job.
  • Calacas: Mitcena's design borrows heavily from depictions of skeletons in Mexican culture.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: While Mitcena is a psychopomp associated with death and the dead, she truly cares about the suffering of those in her care and there are several times where she takes steps to ensure those who have suffered cruelty in life are protected in her domain.

    Spoiler for mid Book 2—Jando

Jando Parr

Played by: Rick Sandidge

Jando is a Half-Orc Ranger who is sometimes hired by the Knights of Ozem to navigate through the Fangwood. He stumbles across the Shrikes while looking for someone to help heal a fallen friend.

Tropes:

  • Bow and Sword in Accord: Jando may prefer his trusty longbow but he's shown competency with his greatsword on more than one occasion.
  • Forest Ranger: Jando has appointed himself one of these. He does not work for the Knights of Ozem but rather with them on a limited basis.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Unfortunately, Jando has been mistreated because of this, often becoming the target of Fantastic Racism even in his home country.
  • Love Dodecahedron: While Jando may have had a rough start with the Shrikes, he quickly becomes everyone's love interest. Jokingly. Unless...

Hell's Rebels PCs

    Adria

Adria Sylla

Played by: Jessica Jenkins

Adria is a shopkeeper on Bleakbridge who recently became something of an empty nester. While the half-sea elf druid has settled in to life in Kintargo, she wasn't always a landlubber...

Tropes:

  • Earth Mother: Both in temperament and in power, Adria is one with nature and generous with the gifts of the natural world, as long as she feels you're worthy of them.
  • Healing Herb: While Adria can call upon the primal powers to heal others, she's begun dabbling in medicinal herbs to help with her magical remedies.
  • Retired Outlaw: Adria had a lifetime of smuggling on the high seas before she settled down in Kintargo. While she's not in that life any more, the skills she picked up have come in handy.
  • Shock and Awe: As a storm druid, most of Adria's spells tend toward electricity.
  • Team Mom: Adria tends to default to this in any team situation.

    Cesare

Cesare Nightbloom

Played by: Heather Allen

Cesare is an Elven Studies Professor at the Alabaster Academy. In addition to his life as a teacher, this elven wizard still has plenty of magic to bring to bear alongside his familiar, Raven. Moreover, his reasons for joining the Silver Ravens may be more personal than he lets on...

Tropes:

  • Gentleman Wizard: Cesare may have magic power but he is far from a traditional Gandalf figure. His suits are well tailored and he's more likely to smell of cologne than strange chemicals.
  • Pragmatic Hero: Cesare's methods and actions definitely fall into this.
  • Really 700 Years Old: As an elf, Cesare may not look over 200 but he certainly is.
  • Shock and Awe: Most of the professor's go-to spells are elctrical.
  • The Professor: While this is literal in Cesare's case, he is also one of the most knowledgeable members of the party when it comes to academic subjects.

    Lucia

Lucia Sarini

Played by: Jordan Jenkins

Lucia was a budding star in the opera circuit in Kintargo before the Night of Ashes and a trained sword fighter. After the dust settled, she decided that her noble family and even her career at the opera were not worth the lives of the people of Kintargo...

Tropes:

  • Naïve Newcomer: While Lucia has always lived in Kintargo, she has spent much of her life sheltered away from the masses in the city. She's admittedly trying to get better at navigating life outside the nobility.
  • Rich Kid Turned Social Activist: Lucia is doing her best to become this in defiance of her family.
  • Royal Rapier: While more a noble than actual royalty, Lucia's combat style fits this well. Most likely she was allowed to learn these light blades as it could be considered part of her stage training.
  • Secret Identity: Lucia is working on establishing herself as a having one.

    Niccolo

Niccolo Aita

Played by: Ross Scoggin

Niccolo is a tiefling trying to eke out an existence in Kintargo's poor district, the Devil's Nursery. Though these days he works in soup lines and does his best to get his fellow tieflings work, his past is murkier than he would like and there seems to be some lingering animosity between him and his comrades...

Tropes:

  • Big Eater: Don't get between this tiefling and his food.
  • Happily Adopted: Niccolo has no idea who his birth parents are but he loves his adopted mother very much.
  • Perpetual Poverty: At least so far Niccolo has not been able to escape his run-down studio apartment with limited food and furnishings. Maybe one day he'll have more than two functioning chairs...
  • Reformed Criminal: Niccolo has a past that he'd like to move past. Whatever happened, it certainly didn't win him any friends in the Dottari.
  • Savage Spiked Weapons: Niccolo's current favored weapon is a morningstar.

    Vittoria

Vittoria Scordato

Played by: Rachael Sandidge

Vittoria is a student by day, barista by night who moonlights as a consulting detective for the Dottari in Kintargo. Though she is still learning the finer points of her chosen career, her keen insight and skill in linguistics has proven invaluable. Interestingly enough, little is known about her life outside of her work...

Tropes:

  • Combat Medic: Unlike most examples in fantasy who rely on magic for healing, Vittoria simply uses her medical skills in battle to great effect. Usually...
  • Ludicrous Mêlée Accuracy: For Vittoria, the weapon doesn't matter so much as the weaknesses in her foe's technique.
  • Private Detective: While Vittoria has worked with the Dottari before, she primarily works for herself and any clients who wish to employ her services.
  • Spock Speak: Of all the FTP characters, she is the most likely to use this.
  • The Coroner: While Vittoria is skilled in virtually all aspects of an investigation, she specializes in medical examinations.

Hell's Rebels Key NPCs

    Hetamon Haace

Hetamon Haace

Played by: Rick Sandidge

Hetamon Haace is the gentleman proprietor of The Devil's Threads and a friend of the party. He is not only an outstanding businessman but also a key philanthropic figure in the Devil's Nursery district of Kintargo.

Tropes:

  • Secret Identity: Hetamon is more than he seems. It turns out he's the Rose of Kintargo, the head priest of Milani's faith in the city!
  • Self-Made Man: Hetamon earned his money the old-fashioned way, and was lucky enough to not only survive but thrive.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Hetamon is always creating new fashions and of course he wears them to advertise just how wonderful they are.
  • Wealthy Philanthropist: While not the wealthiest person in the city, Hetamon makes more than enough to support his business *and* donate his money and excess materials to the Cloven Hoof Society.

    Raven

Raven Nightbloom

Played by: Rick Sandidge

Raven is the black cat familiar and assistant to Cesare, helping with grading papers and illicit activities in equal measure. While she is in many ways a cat, in many more she is a confidant and friend.

Tropes:

  • Big Eater: Her obsession with salmon may be the only thing to rival Niccolo's hunger...
  • Classy Cat-Burglar: Raven can manipulate locks and lift items from the unsuspecting. After all, she is a partner in crime!
  • Familiar: Naturally.
  • Fangirl: Of Niccolo, or really anyone who wrestles.
  • Right-Hand Cat: Played with, as Raven isn't evil, but she does spend a lot of time with a wizard in a tower.
  • Shoulder Teammate: Instead of walking on her own, Raven is usually riding on Cesare's shoulders.
  • Talking Animal: As a familiar to a wizard, Raven is able to talk to everyone in the party.
