As the group's riffers are real people, they've declined to have themselves referred to as "characters" and so do not have a trope listing. Instead, here are tropes about the vast amounts of Alternate Character Interpretation they've done over the years.

    General

Jackoff Johnny

Moonshine!Twilight

  • The Alcoholic: Duh. She always seems to have a jar on standby.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: Upon learning that the Fazbear anamatronics are a thing in "Springtrapped", she busts out a jar to "make the bad images go away".
  • Hidden Supplies: A running gag in Equestria Girls fics is that Twilight set up hidden stashes of moonshine in Canterlot High during her time there, which other characters tend to find.
  • Temporary Blindness: During the "Twilight the tank engine the new arrival" section of the first Obscure Crossover Shuffler (the first time her addiction was brought up), it was revealed that she had become blind "again" from too much moonshine.
  • Through the Eyes of Madness: A one-off gag suggests that "Twilight the tank engine the new arrival" was really just from the perspective of Twilight as she wandered through Ponyville "in a daze screaming nonsense about trains".
["]The fact that she smelt of moonshine did not help."
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: It's suggested during "Cutie Bloom" that her forcing Applejack to end the search party for Apple Bloom purely because she attacked someone out of grief was a result of drunkenness.
    • Earlier, an instance of Spike calling out Twilight for reading while Applejack was crying resulted in Twilight stopping his heart and killing him.
Twilight: There, now when you pop back to life in five minutes, then we can talk about my habits...
    • She takes several levels in "Around The Bend" due to being forced into Alcoholics Anonymous.
  • We Want Our Jerk Back!: Her extremely anal behavior in "Around The Bend" was attributed to her being forced into Alcoholics Anonymous, causing others to remark that she needs to stop going. Crazy56U's interpretation of the fic's ending sees Twilight opt to do just that... after falling off the wagon and polishing off enough moonshine to forget that the fic ever happened.

Nobody, Alicorn Princess of Everything (Flame Striker)

  • Irony / Take That!: While Crazy56U originally called her "Nobody" due to an initial lack of an actual name, the literal moment she stated her name "Flame Striker", he decided to double down.
  • I Have Many Names: Generally speaking, every time someone uses the word 'nobody' she shows up, with a title befitting the point the term is used.
  • Jerkass: She did not endear herself to the riffers at all in "Tree of Harmony". To name an example, it being mentioned how she represents the Element of Kindness caused Crazy56U to burst out laughing, while it being mentioned how she also represented Laughter caused him to laugh harder.
  • Mad Libs Catch Phrase: "Nobody, Alicorn Princess of _______"

Paint!Celestia

  • Paste Eater: She usually has a can of paint on standby.
  • Took a Level in Dumbass: You'd have to if you drink paint on a regular basis.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Whether because of, or in spite of drinking paint, Celestia comes off as more blunt and assholish.
  • Take That!: The origin of this characterization comes from the "Past Sins" anniversary riff, where Crazy56U justifies her in-story stupidity / rashness as the result of chugging paint.

Pot Dealer!Fluttershy

Spike

  • Badass Boast: He's effectively immortal and sometimes he knows it.
  • Death Is Cheap: Duh. Bare minimum of five minutes, he's up and running again. It's even gotten to the point that, during the "Forever Faithful" portion of the Anniversary Shuffle, it's mentioned by Twilight that Spike had died enough times that his ghosts litter Hell.
Still, it’s kind of lonely. I seem to be the only pony here, though I can occasionally hear whispers.
Crazy56U: "Granted, they are from Spike's multiple deaths... ...it's honestly kind of weird to put that down into words, to be frank..."
  • Harmless Electrocution: Defied: during the "Forever Faithful" portion of the Anniversary Shuffle, a past incident is alluded to involving Spike repeatedly sticking a fork into an electrical outlet out of boredom, just to see how long he could do it before he stopped rezzing.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: You can thank "Moonlight, Moonlight, Let My Fangs Gleem Tonight" for this trait.
  • Who Wants to Live Forever?: Played with: it winds up being brought up on occasion how Spike kinda doesn't like how he keeps dying.

    The Catch
NOTE: Do not confuse these characterizations with the characters of The Fumble.

Captain Spyglass

Rye Mash

Cerise "Bloody" Velvet

    Dakari-King Mykan fics

Lightning Dawn (Not!Twilight, Lightning McQueen)

  • Bad Liar: In Starfleet Humans, regarding not being an alien.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: It's suggested on at least one occasion that his "friends" only put up with him because Grand Ruler makes them, under threat of GULAG!
  • Idiot Hero: He's portrayed as being dumber than a sack of bricks, with questionable literacy and no common sense at all.
  • It's All About Me: As far as Lightning is concerned, no one is allowed to be more awesome than he is. Which isn't saying much.
  • Lazy Bum: Whines about having to do anything resembling work.
  • Too Dumb to Live: He regularly charges into battle against monsters and Titan's minions even though he's so unfit he's been hospitalized at every single day of the annual mandatory fitness day.
    • When Titan drags White Village (and later other places) into the Shadow Line and replaces it with a duplicate made entirely out of waterproof cardboard, Lightning notices only to conclude that it always had been like that.

Krysta

Cookie Dough (Cookie Monster)

  • Damn, It Feels Good to Be a Gangster!
  • Mind Control: Why everyone thinks his food is the most delicious they ever tasted, even when they're eating weights.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Titan implies he was able to break his seal by mind-controlling Grand Ruler into releasing him, made extremely easy due to Cookie constantly mind-controlling him with takeout.
  • Nominal Hero: Is a mafia boss that mind-controls his customers into thinking his food is delicious and uses guns smuggled from other dimensions to coerce everyone else.

Titan

  • The Corruption: He managed to get Nightmare Moon and Discord to do his bidding by blasting them with the Shadow Line's darkness.
  • Expy: of Bill Cipher with elements of the Emperor of Darkness
  • For the Evulz: He builds his planning model for the Shadow Line between the TV and Dementia's seat in the living room for no reason other than mess with her.
  • Motive Rant: SC276 gives him an epic one in part 6, spelling out how he acquired the Shadow Line, what exactly he did to Nightmare Moon and Discord, and why he attacked Unicornicopia at all: national pride over Grand Ruler being a bigger villain than anyone in the Dimension of Evil ever was.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Whenever he turns a town into a Shadow Town, he replaces where it disappeared from on the surface with a facsimile made of waterproof cardboard. The only ones fooled are Lightning Dawn and Grand Ruler.
  • Railroad Baron: Actively working to build and expand the Shadow Line.
    • He actually managed to turn White Village, Lightning's hometown, into a Shadow Town, making it part of the Shadow Line. It's stated in Part 3 that he also took Bluesville, but after his defeat, the minions end up ejecting it back later in the part.
    • Thanks to his minions' eventually figuring everything out and laying low after losing their Mid-Season Upgrade, the entirety of Unicornicopia except Grand Ruler's palace and Brain's lab becomes part of the Shadow Line. He then sends Discord to destroy what's left of Unicornicopia so they'll remain locked in darkness forever.

Serpent-Tyrant

  • Expy: SC276 gives him the speech and mannerisms of Enter (despite his nametag for him being "ALASKAN BULL WORM").
    "Ça va, Unicorn?"

Grand Ruler Celesto

    Other riff-specific

Twainlight Cargo

From: Obscure Crossover Shuffle

Grodus!Celestia

From: Past Sins Original Edit
  • The Atoner: He's trying to stop the revival of Nightmare Moon by all means in order to keep others from repeating the mistake of Evil Is Not a Toy he made at the end of his game.
  • Latex Perfection: Presumably how he accomplishes the job of impersonating Celestia. Given the two have nothing in common in terms of body structure, that's impressive.
  • Robotic Reveal: Tears half of her "face" off when the Nightmare Moon Fan Club escape with Nyx out of frustration. Nopony notices.
  • Shock and Awe: Grodus being capable of lightning attacks like what disrupts the ritual in the first chapter is what causes SC276 to create this interpretation.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: "I am not an evil computer-man, beep boop."
  • Time Stands Still: One of his spells, offered as an explanation for why Twilight didn't stop Celestia from taking Nyx away.
  • Unexpected Character: Sir Grodus, the Big Bad of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, has replaced and disguised himself as Celestia.

"Past Sins"!Rarity

From: Past Sins Original Edit
  • Butt-Monkey: Following Rarity's fourth wall induced lapse of sanity, nobody noticed or cared.
  • Fourth-Wall Observer: Mentioned as a one-off gag concerning the fic's "rough rough draft", once Rarity began asking questions about the "Reunion of the Royal Pony Sisters" script, she became aware of the nature of her reality.
  • Sanity Slippage: Upon realizing she was a cartoon character in a fanfic, she became depressed, then insane.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: Minus the depression, Rarity's one-off gag characterization winds up echoing Doug from 'Til Death.

Lance / Girokon (Lancelot)

From: The First 24 Chapters of Living the Dream
  • Bad Liar: No one believes him whenever he says anything. No one.
  • Came Back Wrong: Played with: after Lancelot is (according to some, undeservedly) brought back to life by God, several characters are convinced he's now a zombie.
  • Cassandra Truth: Eventually, his lying reached the point where whenever he actually tries being honest, no one believes him for a second.
  • The Chew Toy: Even factoring in the actual events of the story, the riffers have taken to running him through the wringer.
  • Consummate Liar: Played with: it's agreed upon that he constantly lies... but no one believes him.
  • Meaningful Name: "Lance" being renamed "Lancelot" actually winds up fitting if you know a thing about Arthurian lore (specifically that Lancelot was a prime factor in the fall of the Round Table).
  • Phrase Catcher: "What, like the sandwich?"
  • Satan: Crazy56U ultimately reaches the conclusion that, given his constant lying and snake pupils, Lancelot is actually Satan himself.
  • Too Dumb to Live: It takes Rainbow almost raping him to learn the painfully obvious factoid that Twilight is in to him.
    • This is also literal: he accidentally eats a poisoned cupcake Rainbow made that was meant for Twilight... which winds up killing him.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Crowds looking at him for extended periods of time. Not kidding.
