- Adaptational Backstory Change: Rather than alien creatures created to serve as peacemakers, Mogwai are daimon that guard the Lazarus Pits.
- Adaptational Superpower Change: Instead of multiplying just by being sprayed with water, a Mogwai or Gremlin only multiplies when sprayed with water from the Lazarus pits. They also only turn into Gremlins after overeating things like junk food.
- Always Chaotic Evil: Gremlins are for the most part malevolent pranksters with very few exceptions.
- Ambiguous Gender: While it's not obvious at first glance, Mogwai do have genders and can reproduce in the conventional way.
- Big Eater: Mogwai are omnivorous, and they have quite the Sweet Tooth.
- Cute Is Evil: Most Mogwai are small and look harmless, but once they're turned into gremlins, all that changes.
- Endangered Species: Natural born Mogwai are so scarce Gizmo is believed to be the only one left.
- Fantastic Caste System: Mogwai colonies are divided in classes. Alpha, Hunter, Queen and Worker.
- Griping About Gremlins: While these gremlins don't target planes like their mythical counterparts, they still are good at messing up circuits and mechanical artifacts.
- Light Is Not Good: As Mogwai, they are simply adorable little critters with an utterly unfriendly demeanor.
- Tertiary Sexual Characteristics: Only a few male gremlins have hair, while all known females do have. Females also have bust lines and are slightly more slender than males.
- Weakened by the Light: While they don't melt or burn under sunlight, both Mogwai and Gremlins are vulnerable to bright lights thanks to their nocturnal adaptations.
- The Ageless: Being a Daimon, as long as Gizmo is properly cared for he's practically immortal.
- Badass Adorable: Gizmo might be tiny and incredibly cute, but he's still pretty intelligent and an impressive archer.
- Bizarre Alien Biology: Daimons can have more than one soul within their bodies, and this is the case for Mogwai. While Gizmo is the 'Master Soul', the other 14 souls in his body serve to give the Mogwai he spawns different personalities.
- Explosive Breeder: He hates breeding other Mogwai, and not simply due to the excruciating process.
- Gadgeteer Genius: He has Mechanomancy as a skill, hence why Nate called him Gizmo.
- In-Series Nickname: "Giz".
- Last of Its Kind: Gizmo is the last known natural born Mogwai. All others were spawned by him.
- Master Archer: He's an exceptional archer thanks to training with the Magician.
- Monster Progenitor: Although it wasn't his intention and the process weakens him, he ended up spawning several other Mogwai with the core souls within his body.
- Non-Human Sidekick: He's the partner of Nathan Scofield.
- Omniglot: While he can't speak them very well, Gizmo understands all languages.
- One-Steve Limit: Shares name with Gizmo from the Fearsome Five, and they're both small tinkerers.
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: He has Mythic Cuteness as a characteristic.
- Taught by Television: He has taken a liking for watching movies on the internet.
- Token Heroic Orc: The most humble of the Mogwai.
- Vague Age: Nathan isn't sure how old Gizmo is, but he decided to make June 8th his observed birthday.
The First Batch
Alpha class. Stripe hates Gizmo, seeing him as a threat to his superiority and is quite intelligent.
- Arch-Enemy: He is this to Gizmo. The feeling is mutual.
- Beard of Evil: As a mogwai his fur made up a beard of sorts and he was definitely evil. As a Spider Gremlin it returns, this time in the form of a pointy red scale.
- Composite Character: Fuses his Stripe and Mohawk incarnations, with Stripe's gremlin form but Mohawk's mogwai form.
- Dark Is Evil: Even as a mogwai his fur was black and white and he's one nasty creature.
- Delinquent Hair: Characterized by his mohawk-like fur on top of his head, which stayed even as a gremlin. It turns into a crest as a Spider mutant.
- Evil Counterpart: To Gizmo. Unlike him he's not only frightening but also pure evil.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: He's got red eyes and is easily the most malicious of the Gremlins. They remain that way after mutating into a spider gremlin.
- Spider People: Or Spider Gremlin, since he obtains the lower half of a spider.
- Spikes of Villainy: Several spikes appear on his body as a Spider gremlin and is just as villainous as in his original form.
- Yellow Eyes of Sneakiness: As a mogwai he had yellow eyes, and his cute exterior hid an evil and intelligent mind.
Queen class. A shy mogwai. Not particularly assertive, tends to follow the lead of other mogwai. Becomes distraught when alone.
- Hates Being Alone: She becomes distraught when alone.
- Non-Mammalian Hair: She's got white hair as a gremlin.
- Non-Mammal Mammaries: Like Greta, she has visible breasts, despite being reptilian.
Queen class. Particularly skilled in technomancy.
- Energy Being: She's become a creature of living electricity.
- Gadgeteer Genius: She's particularly skilled at Technomancy.
- Named by the Adaptation: In the movie the Electric Gremlin's name was unrevealed, but here it's Penny.
- Non-Mammalian Hair: She has reddish hair to go with her rust colored skin as a gremlin.
- Non-Mammal Mammaries: Like most of the female gremlins, she has visible breasts, despite being reptilian.
- Shock and Awe: After becoming Electric gremlin, she's becoming a living bolt of electricity, capable of moving along phone lines and electrocuting people.
Hunter class. Has quite the sweet tooth.
- Irony: He loves sweets yet is mutated into a bunch of vegetables.
- Named by the Adaptation: In the movie the Plant Gremlin's name was unrevealed, but here it's Brownie.
- Plant Person: He's mutated into a gremlin made out of plants and vegetables.
- Sweet Tooth: As indicated by his name, he loves sweets more than any other junk food.
Hunter class. Mostly kind but clingy.
- Badass Longcoat: Wears a trench coat while at a party.
- Cool Shades: Wears a pair when he's at a party.
- Mark of the Supernatural: He's a supernatural creature and one of his eyes is brown and the other is green.
- Non-Humans Lack Attributes: Despite dressing as a flasher, he doesn't have any private parts to flash people with, like most of the gremlins.
- Smoking Is Cool: He has also taken a liking for cigarettes.
Worker class. Remarkably intelligent, a true genius among the more dim-witted brutes of his class. Known for being mischievous.
- Black Cloak: Wears a black cloak to go with his Phantom of the Opera aesthetic.
- Named by the Adaptation: In the movie the Phantom Gremlin's name was unrevealed, but here it's Rusty.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Like many others, his eyes in both mogwai and gremlin form are red.
- Red/Green Contrast: He has red fur as a mogwai but green skin as a gremlin. Even his face becomes one part red while the rest remains green.
- Two-Faced: Half his face became red while the rest remained green.
- White Mask of Doom: Wears one to imitate the Phantom of the Opera.
Worker class. Beebo used to be a docile mogwai and was named Haskins. However, he was the only mogwai survivor from the Kingston Falls incident (other than Gizmo) and was subjected to several experiments which altered his fur color. He was rescued by Cynthia Lance and given the name "Beebo" after the lovable and huggable fictional blue fur-ball from child's television.
- The Alcoholic: Stealing Thea's booze indicates so.
- Curtains Match the Windows: Has blue eyes and blue fur. Even as a gremlin, he still has some blue hair and eyes.
- The Eeyore: While he tolerates affection from Cynthia Lance, most of the time he's a surly sourpuss prone to stealing Thea Queen's booze.
- Sole Survivor: He was the only mogwai who survived the Kingston Falls incident besides Gizmo.
The New Batch
Hunter class. A grumpy and serious mogwai/gremlin. Though he is cynical and malicious, he's more reserved than many of the others. He's incredibly intelligent and prone to smoke.
- Cigar Chomper: As seen in the picture, George has a liking for smoking cigars.
- Gleeful and Grumpy Pairing: The grumpy to Daffy's gleeful.
- Only Sane Man: When grouped together with Daffy and Lenny, he is the only sane one among the three.
- Perpetual Frowner: He always looks annoyed or grouchy.
- The Stoic: He is not as crazy as the other gremlins.
Hunter class. Hyperactive, insane and mischievous. Prone to making messes, loud fits of laughter and can be provoked into violence.
- Beware the Silly Ones: Don't let the spacey and hyperactive nature fool you, Daffy is still a dangerous gremlin, as his Doctor costume shows.
- Cloudcuckoolander: He's definitely crazier than the average gremlin.
- Comically Cross-Eyed: His cross-eyed look represents his spacey and not that bright mind.
- Gleeful and Grumpy Pairing: He's the gleeful to George's grumpy.
- Labcoat of Science and Medicine: Wears a human-sized labcoat.
- Mad Doctor: Goes for this look as Dr. Daffy.
- Non-Mammalian Hair: Keeps some tufts of yellow hair after becoming a gremlin.
Worker class. Though not particularly smart, and incredibly subservient to George, Lenny is not individually violent or hostile, but is willing to use his strength at the command of George.
- Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: The only clothes he wears is a red tie.
- Adaptation Dye-Job: Instead of remaining brown like in the movie, his eyes are green as a gremlin.
- The Ditz: He's not very smart.
- Dumb Is Good: He's not particularly violent or malicious, but he tends to follows George's orders.
- Fangs Are Evil: Averted. He has two prominent buck-teeth instead of fangs like the other Gremlins.
- Merciful Minion: He doesn't attack humans as do the other Gremlins, he just enjoys fooling around.
Queen class. Quite aggressive for the docile female mogwai. Tends to use beauty products and is also attracted to humans.
- Femme Fatalons: She has long and sharp fingernails that are painted red as a gremlin.
- Mars Needs Women: Inverted. Greta is attracted to humans, to the point she may even want to "marry" one. Though that's only if her bridal look serves the same purpose it did in Gremlins 2.
- Non-Mammalian Hair: She has long green hair as a gremlin despite being reptilian.
- Non-Mammal Mammaries: Despite gremlins being reptilian, she has what appears to be the outline of a bust.
- Something about a Rose: She carries a rose in her bridal look.
- Vanity Is Feminine: She's a female mogwai/gremlin who tends to use beauty products. She even paints her claws red as a bride.
Hunter class. A rotund mogwai with a large intellect and an inquisitive personality. More reserved than most, rarely violent.
- Big Ol' Eyebrows: As a gremlin his brows have scales that make him look even more expressive.
- Distinguished Gentleman's Pipe: He carries a pipe as Brain gremlin to show how distinguished he is.
- Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: Not an animal in the classical sense, but he wears a suit, although not pants.
- Named by the Adaptation: In the movie the Brain Gremlin's name was unrevealed, but here it's Earl.
- Smart People Wear Glasses: As Brain gremlin he wears grey-framed glasses.
- Yellow Eyes of Sneakiness: His eyes are amber as a gremlin and he's one of the smarter members of his kind, especially after becoming the Brain gremlin.
Hunter class. A cynical, grumpy and reserved mogwai/gremlin with a knack for subterfuge and infiltration. Not violent unless threatened.
- Albinos Are Freaks: He's an albino as a mogwai. As a gremlin his skin is mostly pale green with some white. His skin turns brownish with white as Bat gremlin instead.
- Bat Out of Hell: He's exposed to Man-Bat's serum, turning him into a Bat-Gremlin hybrid.
- Beard of Evil: As a gremlin he has a black scale that looks like a goatee.
- Named by the Adaptation: In the movie the Bat Gremlin's name was unrevealed, but here it's Gary.
- Perpetual Frowner: Like George, Gary constantly has a frown on his face. As a bat gremlin he appears to have a grin.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: He's got red eyes in all of his forms.
- Winged Humanoid: As Bat gremlin he has large, bat-wings that allow him to fly.
Hunter class. It is unknown what Fleck would be like if he had not been exposed to Joker Venom in the course of his first birth, but he grew into a menacing, unstable mogwai prone to fits of laughter, unprovoked violence, and a love for chaos and anarchy.
- Expy Coexistence: Like J-Man of the Laugh Pack, he's based on an Alternate Self of the Joker in a live-action film. In this case, Arthur Fleck, Joaquin Phoenix's Joker in the 2019 film.
- Facial Markings: Blue markings akin to clown's makeup.
- Practically Joker: He's a mogwai that was exposed to Joker Venom, and now is prone to Laughing Mad, as well as a love of chaos and anarchy. Being based and named after Arthur Fleck's Joker also helps.
- Secondary Color Nemesis: Joker venom dyed his ginger coat magenta and green. These changes remain as a gremlin.
