     Sixth Pass Weyrwomen

Moreta

Senior Weyrwoman of Fort Weyr and rider of gold Orlith. Plays a major role in defeating the plague, ultimately sacrificing herself so that all who dwell on the Keroon Plain are vaccinated in one day.

  • Action Mom: Has a son, M'ray, who she got during an affair with an Istan dragonrider. She apparently has at least two other children, one of which she is certain she conceived while she was in a relationship with B'lerion. However, she doesn't seem to have actually raised them herself, passing that duty off onto others.
  • Blind Jump: Jumps between without giving proper coordinates to Holth, after timing it all day to deliver the vaccine to Keroon Plain. This causes her to be lost between.
  • Determinator: Moreta is willing to do whatever it takes to help eliminate plague from Pern, even if it means putting her own life at risk.
  • The Medic: As a result of having trained briefly with the Healer Hall, she has some experience with healing and tending to wounds. She is very involved in the healing of dragons and riders injured during Threadfall.
  • Near-Death Experience: Moreta falls ill with the plague, but recovers from it.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: She is well-respected as the Weyrwoman of Fort Weyr and is known to be fair.

Leri

A Weyrwoman of Fort Weyr and rider of gold Holth. She was Senior Weyrwoman until her dragon could no longer rise to mate, leading to Moreta taking her place. She and Moreta have a close relationship, with the younger Weyrwoman often consulting her on certain matters and visiting her weyr. During the plague, as Orlith is in clutch Leri allows Moreta to ride Holth during the emergencies that arise.

  • Cool Old Lady: Works hard enough to put herself at risk during the emergency, because she's old and going to die eventually anyway.
  • Driven to Suicide: Goes between forever on the day of the Hatching of Orlith's last clutch, so that she and Orlith can reunite with Moreta and Holth.
  • The Mentor: To Moreta.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Was Weyrwoman of Fort until Holth was unable to fly a mating flight, and even afterward is much loved and respected by all.
  • Retired Badass: Her dragon is too old to rise, and she mostly sits around tending her aching joints, but when necessary she and Holth can still fight Thread with the queens' wing.

     Sixth Pass Weyrleaders

Sh'gall

Weyrleader of Fort. He and Moreta share a business-like relationship, only bedding each other during mating flights.

     Sixth Pass Other Dragonriders

A'murry

     Sixth Pass Holders

Alessan

Lord of Ruatha Hold in Moreta and Nerilka's Story. He falls in love with Senior Fort Weyrwoman Moreta, and when she dies suddenly he falls into a deep depression. After his grief over Moreta fades Alessan marries Nerilka of Fort Hold, who he has befriended and is slowly coming to love.

  • Babies Ever After: Alessan and Nerilka have four sons and one daughter (named after Moreta) after the tragic events of the plague.
  • Happily Married: To Nerilka, after he gets over his grief for Moreta.

Nerilka

A daughter of Lord Tolocamp of Fort Hold. Though plain, she is capable, adventurous and dutiful and willing to do what it takes to help her people. After her mother and sisters die of plague in Ruatha Hold she secretly leaves Fort Hold to nurse others sick with the illness and help find and create a cure for it. This leads her to Ruatha, where she befriends Lord Alessan, who later becomes her husband.

  • Action Girl: Nerilka leaves Fort Hold to go tend to victims of the plague.
  • Babies Ever After: Nerilka has four sons and a daughter (who they name after Moreta) by Alessan.
  • Happily Married: To Alessan, eventually, after he lets go of his grief over Moreta's death.
  • The Medic: Though not a trained Healer, Nerilka has some experience in brewing medicines and herbal remedies and giving aid during medical emergencies. Her knowledge comes in handy when the plague occurs, and she decides to venture forth and give aid to those sick.
  • Nice Girl: She is generally a good-hearted person.
  • Parental Abandonment: Nerilka's mother is a victim of the plague; her father disowns her after realising that she had left Fort Hold to tend to those sick. Nerilka is not bothered by her father's rather blunt disowning of her—she had lost any remaining familial love for him she may have still had when he abandoned her mother and four sisters in Ruatha Hold to go back to Fort in safety and comfort while they died of plague.
