Main Protagonists

    Bouya Harumichi

Portrayed By: Hidenari Ugaki (OVA)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/harumichi.jpeg
"There's nothing wrong with being a Crow. When you compare them to the poor caged birds that have forgotten how to fly, Crows are much better. I love being a Crow!"

The main protagonist of Crows and by far one of the most important figureheads of Suzuran, characterized by his blonde, slicked back pompadour and carefree attitude. While initially against delinquent culture, as the reason why he enrolls at Suzuran in the first place was to make friends, he began to embrace it as he endured many trials within the school, fighting rival gangs, and as mentioned, making friends along the way. He's the leader of Harumichi Family and one of the founding members of Parko and The Dangerers, or P.A.D.; an alliance formed to combat the looming threat of The Snake Heads gang. It consists of Haruyama "Parko" Koichi, Harumichi himself, and rivals Bitou Tetsuya of Housen Academy and Kunou Ryuushin of The Front of Armament.

  • Always Someone Better: Towards Rindaman. Their first fight ends in a draw and He loses their last fight. At the final he acknowledges that no one can beat Rindaman. Other than that, He is this to everyone.
  • Badass Boast:
    (to senda)I'm insanely strong.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He is a perverted and goofy idiot most of the times. but when you messed with him or his friends. He will come for you. The 3rd armament found out the hardway.
  • Big Entrance:He really loves doing this either, by Jumping off a bridge to the fight area, sending guys flying with a kick or a punch, or just simply walks into a fight with either Cool Shades or a Death Glare.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Has this relationship with his underclassmen, notably Yasu and Zetton.
  • But Now I Must Go: He left Suzuran after he has to repeat his senior yeae twice.
  • Charles Atlas Super Power: His punches somehow manage to send guys flying a dozen feet away. However, againts bigger enemies such as Rindaman or Kuzugami Tatsuo, it doesn't work.
  • Cool Shades: Sports this sometimes. notably when he makes his entrance to fight Rindaman, the second and final time.
  • Combat Pragmatist: He is not above throwing objects or using environments to his advantages. His second fight with Ryuushin is a good example.
  • Determinator: It may need a whole Army of gangs to put him down. And even then He still comes back for more, even when injured.
  • Defeating the Undefeatable: His first fight with Rindaman ends with a draw, with both feeling a bitter taste of defeat. He also defeats most of the guys who never taste defeat before meeting him (i.e Ryushin,Tatsuya, and Kuzugami Tastsuo)
  • The Dreaded: His reputation has caused many people to be cautios, shocked, or scared, at the mention of his name.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: He will divert his attention to any woman he sees, usually nurses.
  • Establishing Character Moment: His introductory scene has him ignoring the plight of a bullied student until he realizes the victim has a cute sister, motivating him to help. He makes a bold speech to the assailants before bumping his head on a railing and knocking himself out cold. This shows the selfishness, weakness for women, Large Ham nature and clumsiness that define his character before we even know his name.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: He mentions that he likes to beat his opponents using their own style. although this doesn't often work especially againts Ryushin who is a really good boxer.
  • The Ghost: In the Worst manga ,he is mention a couple of times, but never makes any appearances.
  • Made of Iron: One of his defining trait, is that he is a really hard man to put down. No matter how many punches, kicks, and slams thrown at him, he just keeps getting back up.
  • One-Man Army: He is responsible for ending the third genreation front of armament all by himself.
  • One-Hit Kill: If he is not fighting a rival or any main villains. He usually finish it with one punch.
  • The Protagonist: Of the Crows Manga.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: He gave a brutal one to Bitou Tatsuya beforetheir battle, where he called him out on using his late older brother's death at the hands of a Suzuran student as an excuse to fight despite the event occured a long time ago. After his defeat, Tatsuya admits that Bouya's words felt like a knife stabbed through his chest.

    Tsukishima Hana

The main protagonist of the WORST manga series. A village boy who came to Toarushi to go the school of crows, Suzuran. Hana strives to be the one that finally become the True Leader of Suzuran.

  • The Ace: He has excellent fighting skills and is only beaten three times in yhe series. He is also shown to have great strength, speed, flexibility and martial arts skills.
  • All-Loving Hero: Unlike Bouya, who is rather standoffish and would rather not show his kinder side. Hana is more open and kind to others, treating people equally with respect and always ready to help those in need, be it his friends or rivals alike. This makes him very well liked and respected among his colleagues in Suzuran and Toarushi. Even those that don't want to join him admits that they at least like him because he's a good guy and don't have any resentment on him.
  • Always Someone Better: to mostly everyone in the series. Most notably to his rival, Amachi.
  • Apologetic Attacker: He oftens tells his opponents to not 'hold grudges' or 'hard feelings' before he proceed to fight and beat them. Also doubles as a Pre Ass Kicking One Liner
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: Hana is the leader of his group and is the strongest fighter in it. So naturally, He is the one who usually faces the strongest foes while his friends clear the stage for him.
  • Arch-Nemesis: To Hisashi Amachi. Hana is Amachi's foil and has been Amachi's main target ever since Amachi's first loss to him in their freshmen year. Their final showdown in the series is appropriately titled "Light and Darkness".
  • Bald of Authority: Hana is bald and The Leader of his faction, the Hana Gumi, and later, the Whole SUZURAN as its first Boss. He is the best fighter in the group, cementing his position through Asskicking Leads to Leadership.
  • Berserk Button: one of the ways to incur the all loving Hana's wrath is to messed with his friends.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He is without a doubt the nicest character in the whole crows x worst series. He is also one of the strongest characters that would happily beat you to a pulp if you pushed him.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Hana acts rather goofy most of the time and as some characters note, does not have that intimidating aura on him that would give the impression that he is the guy that can kicked your ass with ease. Until you see it or feel it yourself.
  • Big Fun: while he is not fat, his face is more rounded and chubby compare to most characters, and he also provide a lot of humor in the story.
  • Blood Knight: Hana can be best described as this, when asked about how he feels about fighting he says that when his blood pumps that's how he reacts. He feels guilty if he goes too far and doesn't go out of his way to fight, exactly. A bit of an overlap with Warrior Therapist since even Amachi has changed for the better after fighting and losing to Hana.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: Due to his harsh upbringing in the mountains, Hana's physical prowess are nearly superhuman. He has amazing endurance, stamina and can perform feats such as running on walls and dunking up basket ball twice his height with ease. Even Hanaki Guriko was amazed by his durability at one point.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: In many ways he is different than the previous protagonist Harumichi Bouya, and the crows zero protagonist, Takiya Genji. While all three of them are considered 'outsiders' in Suzuran, Harumichi and Genji were transferred sophomore and senior respectively. Hana however, started Suzuran in his freshmen year even participating in the Freshman war and became the victor and his outsider status is because he lives in the mountains rather than in the Toarushi district. Harumichi's family background was unknown with the only expkanation was that he lost his dad at somepoint and Genji is the son of a Yakuza Boss with his mother being nowhere to be seen. Hana in the other hand is an orphan whose parents died during a landslide and was raised by his grandparents. While all three of them stand atop at Suzuran in their respective eras, Harumichi could not careless about rulling it and preffers to fool around, while Genji opts to rule the school by taking on the strongest, Rindaman with the logic that if he wins the whole school will recognize him, despite his friends protest. Hana on the other hand, gradually gains power in Suzuran with the support of his allies, listens to their advice on how to become a boss, and finally after having enough power and confidence, challenge the strongest of his time, Hanaki Guriko, who despite beating him acknowledged Hana as the best candidate for a boss Suzuran can ever hope for. As far strenght and fighting prowess concerns, both Harumuchi and Genji used mostly Good Old Fisticuffs, did not train, though Genji did chalenge a top dog at one point to honed his skills, and seemed to stay at the same level of strenght throughout their series. Hana however is in great physical shape, used basic martial arts move when fighting, and trains constantly with whatever strenght he gains he worked for it.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: When he was 8 years old a landslide occured in his home and he lost his parents and his dog. He admits that he has nightmares of the event, but chose to live on to the fullest for them.
  • Establishing Character Moment: The first chapter is this for him. He met with Tora and is awed over a phone, beats up a bunch of bullies who knocked his bento, cries over how delicious the dinner is, and finally challenges his roomate Sakota over who gets to be an older brother, with the condition that if he wins (which he does), all the roomates will be equals. All these traits shows that he is a kind, overdramatic, and fair Blood Knight.
  • Even the Loving Hero Has Hated Ones: While Hana is forgiving to his rivals and enemies, he shows nothing but contempt towards the Jet Black Scorpions, especially their leader, since the gang is nothing more than just bunch of thugs who does unspeakable things such as ganging up on people and harassing women. Not to mention, they nearly killed one of Hana's flatmates. This was further emphasized that when he faced the leader Hana did not used his usual 'don't hold any grudges' showing that he won't feel guilty about beating uo scumbags like them. Even Amachi who has done many needlessly cruel actions, receives no ill will from Hana and is considered a Worthy Opponent at best.
  • The Leader: Of his faction the Hana Gumi. And later.. Of the Whole SUZURAN as it first Boss.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: Hana is usually drawn in a cheerful and rounder way depicting his fun loving attitude.. but when he is drawn as sharp as the other characters. Shit is about to go down.
  • Nice Guy: Definitely. He is probably the nicest character in the whole Crows x Worst universe, some of his greatest acts of niceness being getting the freshmen to help him carry a pregnant woman to the hospital using a door and going to a classmate's mom's funeral and crying with him.
  • One-Hit Kill: His signature uppercut has this effect. Though he only uses it after he fought his foes a couple rounds, when they get hit by it, they wont get up. It's so effective that only if it is dodged or stopped in some way, will it fail to knock out his foe. During his fight in the Suzuran and Housen 5 vs 5 bout, his opponents saw it as getting hit by a mallet.
  • Pre Ass Kicking One Liner: His "Don't hold any grudges" line before a fight can be best translated into 'I know I'm gonna beat you, so don't feel bad when you lose'
  • Slasher Smile: In the first few chapters of Worst when he is a freshman, Hana is sometimes seen with a wide and sinister smile on his face before he fights, showing his Blood Knight tendencies. This gets toned down a bit later in the series, where his smiles during fights are rounder signifying his growth.
  • One-Man Army: Whoo boy, it seems even a whole army can't stop him.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Hana delivered one to Amachu in their penultimate battle, in which Hana told him that he too had suffered the loss of a loved one and yet did not let said tragedy ruined his way of living, unlike Amachi whose father's death made him the way he is. Cue Uppercut.
  • Training from Hell: He likes to subjects himself to this, which includes 50 kilometer morning jogs and leaping between trees. This makes sense since he was raised in the mountains and this was a rather daily routine for him. Hence, his strenght greatly increased time and time again and by the time he's a senior he was more than a match to Hanaki Guriko himself.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Due to not having an intimidating presence, many characters tend to looked down on him. And many of them found out that its a bad idea.

    Takiya Genji

Portrayed By: Shun Oguri

  • '80s Hair: Has a slicked back undercut mullet.
  • Determinator: It need Izaki's entire crew to finally put him down.
  • Adaptational Attractiveness: His film counterpart compared to his manga one. Whereas in the manga his drawn plain like everybody else, in the film he is played by the handsome Oguri Shun.
  • Adaptational Badass: His manga counterpart seems to be this. With him having more fights with other delinquents and taking on some of the top dogs n Toarushi, whereas in the film his fights, sans the climatic battles, are mostly against mooks or brief Curb-Stomp Battle from Rindaman.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: In the manga, while he still retains the stubborness and arrogance of his film counterpart, he is also more jovial to the people around him instead of just being The Stoic cool arrogant leader he was potrayed in the film.
  • Badass Boast:
to the entire housen army :Don't be stupid, Againts bastards like you, I'm more than enough.
  • Breakout Character: He is this to the whole franchise. When someone mentions Crows, expect Genji to be the first thing people will think of.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold : Genji is just like any other delinquents, but he he truly cares about his friends and his father.
  • Manly Tears: A comedic example jn the first movie. After failing to set up an akward date for Makise and made a scenario where he would be the hero that saved the girls. The girls found out and stormed off and one of them, a local bar singer named Ruka who Genji knew called him a 'real trash'. In the next scene Genji can be seen holding a bucket load of tears.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Breaking the Suzuran-Housen Ceasfire all because he got offended by a Housen leader. Lampshaded by Serizawa
    • Downplayed in the manga, where his reasons is more symphatetic. Here, Genji did broke the ceasefire still byt it was all to save his friend, Kuuga. Not to mention, Housen armies are the ones who provoked Suzuran in the first place.
  • One-Man Army: He holds his own againts all of Izaki's entire crew and an Army of housen baldies.
  • Signature Move: Seems to have a knack for jumping attacks such as a flying knee and a jumping right hook.
  • The Stoic: He usually shows a cool and arrogant charm around him time and time.
    • Not So Stoic: There are times when he loses his temper or smile genuinely. Heck, when Ruka called him a trash after their failed date plan, he actually cries.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: His primary goal when he enters suzuran is to conquer it to earn his father's recognition as their family's business heir.

Suzuran All-Boys High School

    In General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/suzurancrest.jpg
Lily of the valley
Suzuran All-Boys High School, also known as "The Crows School", a delinquent school in Toarushi feared and recognized as one of its "Big Four". This is the primary setting of Crows X Worst franchise, and where the main protagonist belongs. The school is notorious for its history of in-fighting, with the strongest students establishing their own splinter groups vying for control of the establishment. Thus, the school has no true leader. On the rare occasions where the students do band together, it's usually when any of their rivals within the Big Four is making a mess in their territory.

Fitting their "crows" moniker, the students are easily identifiable by their black gakuran.

  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: Pretty much every student in this school is some form of this. And because of this arrogant streak, no one is willing to accept someone be a leader for a long time until Tsukishima Hana of Worst transferred to the school and changed the status quo.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: The students all wear black uniform.
  • Creepy Crows: This is their whole motif. The students of Suzuran not only wear black uniforms, they're also known for being nasty pieces of work amongst the Toarushi populace.
  • Floral Theme Naming: The school's name translates to "lily of the valley", and their crest is adorned by the flower in question.
  • Generic Graffiti: The school's walls are full of these.
  • Mob War: The school is infamous for its generations long in-fighting amongst its student. Nearly every student align themselves with a particular clique, all with the same goal in mind; to survive and conquer the school.
  • New Transfer Student: Suzuran students considers them "outsiders" within the larger student body. Chief among them (usually the protagonist) even gained legendary status by shaking up the status quo in the most drastic of ways. These men are known under the collective "Suzuran's Outsider Legend."
  • One-Man Army: It is said that one Suzuran student could take on an army from rival schools...
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: The students of Suzuran generally hates each others' guts, so the times they united to fight against a common threat inevitably leads to this.
  • Tournament Arc: A tradition unique to Suzuran is "Freshman War", an annual event held at the school's gymnasium where the freshmen are pitted against each other to see who is the strongest among them. In the eyes of some cliques, it also functions a testing ground to search for potential new recruits.
  • World of Badass: The thing that sets Suzuran apart from any delinquent school in the country is that the students are all so strong that one could easily take over a rival school with ease. Here's where it gets complicated; since Suzuran is so full of badasses, it leaves the school no one to keep the students in check, hence all of the internal fighting that lasts generations. Only Tsukishima Hana manages to avert this, becoming the school's first ever "Boss" of his generation.

    Introduced in Crows

Hayashida "Rindaman" Megumi

Portrayed By: Akio Ōtsuka (OVA), Motoki Fukami (live action)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rindaman_hayashida_megumi.png
As seen in Crows Zero

"Rindaman The Butcher", a legendary student in Suzuran known for being the school's strongest fighter, having never lost a fight during his time as a student. Although he prefer being by his lonesome rather than having to deal with the school's gang politics, only ever comes out of the shadows when a situation really calls for it.

Hanaki Guriko

Hanaki Guriko is, to put it simply, the one on top of Suzuran. A man hail from Kyushu, not much is known about him, aside from his monstrous strenght and love for women.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: No tricks no strategy. He just punches, kicks, and flyng kicks everyone in front of him.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Is often at the receiving end of this, with predictable results. Whether it's because his attackers don't know him and just blindly attack, or they actually knew him but still went through with it. Either way it never ends well for them.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: His kicks, aside from being able to send a man flying or knocking him instantly, are able to break concrete walls. He's also able to jump considerably high in order to prepare for his flying kicks.
  • Chick Magnet: One of the best examples in the Crowsx Worst universe. Aside from fighting prowess he is also known as a huge womanizer having have a total of eight girlfriends for himself.
  • The Dreaded: Ohh so very much. No one be it in Suzuran students, his friends, his enemies, or even the people in Toarushi themselves dared to cross paths with him. And for those who do, it almost never ends well.
  • Final Boss: While not Hana's final opponent in the series. He is acknowledge as Hana's last and biggest obstacle in complete domination of Suzuran.
  • One-Hit Kill: One Kick kill.
  • Slasher Smile: is fond of this whether in his normal mode or in his afro demon mode. Either way, an asskicking soon follows.

Housen Academy

    In General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/housencrest.jpg
Phoenix
One of the Big Four of Toarushi as well as one of the strongest delinquent school in the region, right next to Suzuran. Housen Academy presents itself as an unbreakable empire with a strong sense of unity, and having a leader who ruled the school with an iron grip.

Their students are identified by their white/grey uniform.

  • Animal Motif: The first kanji of their name and crest is also the first letter used for Fenghuang, the mythical phoenix.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: When they first opened, Housen isn't much different from their rival Suzuran; a school full of tough students with no ruler to keep them in-line. Then Terakado Butta arrived, beats everyone up, then became the school's first leader, reshaped the way things ran and finally turned the school into the Housen Academy of today.
  • Bald of Evil: One of the defining feature of the school is their majority skin-headed students.
  • Badass Army: Thanks to their strong sense of camaraderie and monolithic nature, all Housen students are this. Every brawl involving them always leads to them sending their large numbers of bald-headed army to gang up on the enemy.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: The students all wear white/grey uniforms
  • Foil: It can't be overstated just how different Housen Academy is when compared to Suzuran:
    • While Suzuran students wears black, Housen students all wear white.
    • Suzuran is infamous for their internal power struggles and no leadership. Housen meanwhile, values each other and every generation always have one leader.
    • Suzuran's campus is less like a school and more of a street gang's turf, filled with graffiti and is always in pretty bad shape. Housen's campus meanwhile is well-kept and clean like any normal school.
  • Floral Theme Naming: Their name translates to "balsam", a flower native to India and Myanmar. The shape of this flower is also part of their crest.
  • Mook: The infamous Skinhead Army, low level students who shaved their head and makes up the majority of the students. Those who don't shave their heads are Elite Mooks who controls the students under the Housen Killer Corps banner.

    Introduced in Crows

Bitou Tatsuya

Portrayed By: Haruma Miura (Crows Zero 2)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tatsuyabito.jpg
As seen in Crows Zero 2
The middle child of the three Bitou Brothers, he and his younger brother Hideyuki leads Housen during Harumichi's sophomore year in Suzuran. Tatsuya despises the school after his older brother Makio died of a stab wound inflicted by one of the students during a brawl that occured in the past. In his senior year, he set aside his differences with them, and joins Harumichi, Kunou Ryuushin of The Front of Armament (his arch-rival, no less), and Haruyama Koichi (better known as Parko) to form Parko and The Dangerers, with the goal of taking down the notorious gang the Snake Heads.

The Front Of Armament

    In General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/busosensen.png
"Armed with spirit. We stand at the front line. To protect our freedom!"
A motorcycle gang and one of the Big Four of Toarushi. Despite their small numbers in comparison to the school delinquents, T.F.O.A. is a force to be reckoned with, thanks to their strong brotherhood combined with awesome fighting prowess.

Members of this gang wears black leather jacket emblazoned with their skull insignia on the back.

  • All Bikers are Hells Angels: What sets them apart from the average Bosozoku-styled biker gang are their leather jacket and adherence to ride a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
  • Animal Motif: Members of the sub-group "KKK Demons" are known for wearing animal-themed masks:
    • Rabbit: Himekawa Kei. Notably, his mask has one of the ears torn-off, earning him the nickname "One Eared Devil Rabbit". His rabbit mask is also the group's mascot.
    • Lion: Kobayashi Kenshou.
    • Bear: Masaoka Kenichirou.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: They wear black jackets, although they are unrelated to the similarly black-clad Suzuran.
  • Cool Bike: A must for any biker gang, and to Armament it's no different. Their Harley-Davidsons are known by the name "Black Night."
  • Gratuitous English: The group's English name is this. The accurate translation of their Japanese name would be "The Armed Front."
  • Quirky Miniboss Squad: For the gang's seventh generation in Worst, they introduced the flying column "KKK Demons"; a trio consisting of Himekawa Kei, Kobayashi Kenshou, and Masaoka Kenichirou. They all have given names that begins with the letter "K", hence the name.

  • Skeleton Motif: Their logo featured a menacing skull.
