Those Trapped in Amare Patriarcha Crucis Hospital

Ayame Itou

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ayame_itou_8785.png

Chapter One’s Heroine. Ayame is a 15 year old high school student of Minazuki Academy High School’s class 1-5. Having lost her memories, she does not know her own name nor the faces of her friends. Whenever she gets scared, she will let out an odd, squeaky scream. She may have had bad experiences with horror films and haunted houses in her past because she responds poorly to scary situations.

  • Amnesiac Heroine: She has lost all of her memories.
  • Blood-Splattered Innocents: Part of her skirt is badly soaked with blood early on; since she can't do much to fix it given the situation, she's forced to run around with it like that.
  • Declaration of Protection: To Kurumi.
  • Determinator: Despite her fear, confusion, pain, and everything going against her, Ayame manages to keep going.
  • Easy Amnesia: It’s unknown how she lost her memories, but it may have something to do with her status as a ‘Dead Patient’.
  • Strapped to an Operating Table: She wakes up like this at the start of Chapter 1, much to her confusion and dismay.
  • Tomato in the Mirror: Chapter 1's True End reveals she's a 'Dead Patient'.
  • Waif-Fu: Her reintroduction to Chiyomi involves her using a crutch to beat the ever-loving crap out of a zombie.

Masato Hiyami

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/masato_hiyami_4733.png

Chapter One's Hero. Born with a weak body, Masato was forced to change schools repeatedly due to his illness and frequent hospital visits. Originally a cheerful, upbeat, never-say-die type of youth who was well liked by his peers. His transfer to a middle-of-nowhere land with no community to speak of has affected his maturation to adulthood. Masato attended his third year in elementary school in the same class as Ayame Itou and Chiyomi Homura where they got along well.

  • Childhood Friend: To Ayame and Chiyomi, before moving away.
  • I Work Alone: Due to changing so many schools and therefore having to leave so many friends, probably.
  • Nice Guy: Even after losing his upbeat nature, he’s an alright guy.

Chiyomi Homura

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chiyomi_homura_7040.png

Chiyomi is a 16 year old student of Minazuki Academy High School’s class 1-5. She has been friends with Ayame since elementary school. A boisterous, energetic girl with a strange vocabulary, her classmates all unanimously nicknamed her “No Filter.” When she went to visit Ayame in the Amare Patriarcha Crucis hospital, she invited her classmates to come along with her.

  • Brutal Honesty: She seems to utterly lack a social filter, to the point it’s her nickname.
  • Childhood Friend: With Ayame and Masato (at least before he moved away).
  • Expy: Of Seiko: the first heroine's outgoing and irrepressible best friend. Heck, they even share the same voice actress!
  • Genki Girl: Outgoing, boisterous and energetic.

Ritsuko Satomi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ritsuko_satomi_266.png

Ritsuko is a 38 year old press photographer. She was the first survivor to meet Ayame. Ritsuko exchanges e-mails with her fiancé, Masami Yoshinaka, who works at Amare Patriarcha Crucis hospital, while dreaming of being reunited. She persuades the others survivors to gather and barricade themselves at the nurses station, however...

  • Break the Haughty: After Masami betrays her and Ayame saves her.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Ritsuko's not stubborn enough to insist on an "everyone for themself" policy after Ayame risks her own wellbeing to save her. She's still bossy towards everyone who is not Ayame, but within reason.
  • Incurable Cough of Death: Has a recurring cough that she keeps reassuring Ayame isn't important.
  • Intrepid Reporter: Documents everything she encounters in the hospital by taking pictures.
  • Mrs. Robinson: Masami is fifteen years younger than she is and she does bring this up.

Ryuuji Shimazaki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ryuji_shimazaki_3786.png

He wishes to become an actor in the special effects association. Though Ryuji likes to wear superhero suits and headwears, he’s actually extremely serious. Because he demands so much from himself, he requires the same from others; he’s especially tough on his classmates. Despite this, Ryuji’s not a bad guy overall. He’s had some interaction with the theater club at Kisaragi Academy, through this he has met Sakutaro Morishige and hit it off with him. Sakutaro is one of the few people whom he considers a friend. He is Kurara’s childhood friend.

Curara Teshimizu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/curara_teshimizu_2203.png

A childhood friend of Ryuuji. She works as the class representative. As the gifted child of an upper-class family, she has taken a special classical ballet class from a very young age. Though uncommon in most high schools, she is the member of the ballet club and participates in a national dance contest, Minazuki Academy has gotten extraordinary marks every year. Though she has an easy-going personality, she has a surprisingly firm foundation.

  • Childhood Friend: To Ryuuji.
  • Expy: Like Mayu, she's The Cutie, highly popular with her classmates, and is best friends with a dark-haired boy with glasses.

Tomohisa Shibai

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tomohisa_shibai_7838.png

He is the heir of a powerful monopolistic organization and is somewhat recognized by the upper-class community. Although Tomohisa serves as the vice class representative of his classroom, no one seems to listen to a word he says. This is in stark contrast to the head class representative, Curara, who can instantly calm the class down. He holds a secret jealousy and rivalry in his heart toward her for this reason.

    Others

Masami Yoshinaka

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/masami_yoshinaka_8166.png

Masami is a registered nurse who works at the Amare Patriarcha Crucis hospital. He is also Ritsuko’s fiancée. From his soft demeanor and his refined features, Masami is a huge hit amongst the female staff; naturally, he’s also extremely popular with the female patients as well. He took three years in nursing school and then followed it with two years of university training. He passed the medical licensing examination on his first try. Masami became acquainted with Ritsuko at the hospital and fostered a deeper relationship with her quickly after.

Seira Shido

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/seira_sido_6250.png

He makes his debut in Chapter 2. Seira is a young and upcoming clothing designer who just recently launched his own brand. Inexplicably, Seira refuses to refer to himself by his real name, instead opting to call himself, “The Artist.”

Kurumi

A little girl from Ayame's past who was born with a serious illness. So far, she only exists in a flashback.

  • Disease Bleach: Fits the concept, though the white hair might be natural.

Woman in Red

A mysterious woman who may be a patient of the hospital and may be infected with something.

  • Expy: To "the girl in red" (Sachiko Shinozaki). She may have even some control of other infected given her observator role when an oddly-behaving SWAT member attacks Ayame.
  • Playing with Syringes: How consciously she's doing it is unclear at this point.
  • Weakened by the Light: How Ritsuko gets rid of her.
