Lords of Reapers

    open/close all folders

    General
  • Animalistic Abomination: These Death deities are the oldest of the Death deities from their specific genus. Due to how aging works for deities overall, this means their true divine forms are pretty eldritch-looking.
  • Cool Sword: They each possess a sword in addition to their scythe. This sword is for reaping the souls of gods of their respective genus. It glows from being so sharp atoms brush against it.
  • Don't Fear the Reaper: As Death deities, they're generally benevolent and make sure to help the dead accept their fate, while protecting souls from malicious entities that prey on them. However, as the first Death deities of their entire genus, they're pretty ancient, and they work directly under the Death Primeval himself. And when they get angry, they are terrifying.
  • The Dreaded: They're direct subordinates to Mortem, the Death Primeval, the oldest Death god in the Equusian galaxy. As such, while generally benevolent, them showing up angry with you normally means you've done something to get on the bad side of a Grand Primeval.
  • God of the Dead: The Princes/Princesses of Reapers are the first Death deities in their entire genus, and oversee the reaping the dead souls of deities who come from their specific race.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: All Princes/Princesses of Reapers wield swords with blades so sharp, they glow from the molecules brushing against them. It's subverted as they also carry scythes with them as part of their duties as Death deities.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Despite their group name, they're not actually Lords/Ladies, but rather Princes and Princesses of Reapers.
  • Sinister Scythe: Subverted. All Princes/Princesses of Reapers carry a scythe with them to aid in reaping/ferrying souls, but they're generally benevolent and serve directly under the Death Primeval himself.
  • Time Abyss: As the first Death deities in their entire genus, all of them are pretty ancient and eldritch-looking.
  • Top God: While they're subordinate to Mortem, they each rule over the Death deities of their entire genus. For example, Obitus Equus, the first Equid Death god, watches over every Equid Death deity in his genus that came after, Ascendant or otherwise, and is responsible for reaping the souls of those Equid deities who died.

    Obitus Equus, the Empyrean Reaper

    Deireadh, the Shadow of Decay

Classification: Ascendant

Portfolio: Death, Shadows, Decay

Rank: Preeminent

Princess Deidreadh (first introduced here) is the Celestial Griffon goddess of Death, Shadows, and Decay, and is the oldest Griffon Death goddess alive, being the Princess of Feliaves Reapers.
  • Badass Finger Snap: During her judgement of the Talon Bàisian Pantheon, she magically whisks away its genuinely innocent and/or repentant members by snapping her talons, so they would be spared from the coming sanction.
  • Berserk Button: As seen here, denying the dead their rightful due is a major one.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Both her default and divine forms have feathers and bones that magically taper into shadows and/or darkness, and she wears a black toga. She's a benevolent Death goddess and the oldest one of her genus, though she doesn't tolerate those who break Primeval Laws regarding death and deny righteous souls their eternal reward.
  • Don't Fear the Reaper: Like all benevolent Death deities, she's reassuring and friendly to the souls she ushers, including Griffon deities who died. However, when she's genuinely angered, she is terrifying, as the Talon Bàisian Pantheon learned the hard way.
  • Dragged Off to Hell:
    • Defied with Gael, the founder of Talon Bàis. The nature of his crimes was such that she decides to give him a more fitting punishment: Forced to wander the afterlife in shame and despair, reviled by even the dead he violated with his divine privileges, and even when he avoided the scorn he would be forced to behold the utter destruction of his kingdom over and over in a magical projection of the event. For someone like Gael, it was indeed a far worst eternal punishment than even whatever torments the pits of the Hellrealms could provide.
    • Played straight with Brama, the Talon Bàisian Pantheon's Death god who allowed the racist and unrepentant Gael (among other wicked individuals) to enter the Heaven-Realms in the first place. She punished Brama by covering him with heavy chains and letting him be dragged off to Nekelmu's Hell-Realms to face eternal punishment for breaking Primeval Law.
  • Götterdämmerung: Invoked. She punishes the Talon Bàisian Pantheon for breaking Primeval Law by initiating a divine conflict similar to the war that utterly destroyed its namesake kingdom, bringing along an army of various benevolent deities and demi-deities from even the Terran Royal Family and the Equestrian Pantheon. By the time it's over, the Talon Bàisian Pantheon's divine realms are left burning, desolate ruins.
  • Interspecies Romance: It's mentioned she and Obitus have been together, despite being members of completely different species.
  • Large and in Charge: As the first and oldest Griffon Death deity of her genus, she is an incredibly large and eldritch goddess, due to how deities in the Codexverse get Stronger with Age. While she serves directly under Mortem, the Death Primeval, she herself oversees every Griffon Death deity that came after her.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: She gives a fitting line to the Pantheon of Bàis before leading her army to deliver the Grand Primeval's wrath upon them.
    Deireadh: It's Judgment Day.
  • The Problem with Fighting Death: She always knew what Gael did to both the innocent Dragonflight and his own people, and how the Talon Bàisian Pantheon both supported and rewarded him for his crimes instead of punishing him. She just allowed everyone to think they escaped the consequences so their eventual punishment would hurt even worse than it normally would (while also for the consequences to have more impact in the living world when matters finally come to a head). Once the opportunity comes, she invites multiple deities from various benevolent pantheons whose nations were wronged by Talon Bàis, and doesn't pull any punches in the following divine purge.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech:
    • She gives one to Gael upon revealing he never actually got away with his actions and she's known the entire time what he did. She and her superiors only allowed him to think he won so his ultimate punishment would be even worse and have a far larger impact.
Princess Deireadh: You cannot escape your sins. They have followed you all this time. We knew, we always did. We allowed for a time for you to think you could hide them. So that this moment, as the gods who enabled you suffer their punishment for aiding you in your crimes, as the entire realm of the dead you inhabit and the world outside bare witness to your crimes, crimes that will be remembered forevermore, you will experience the unique form of despair your crimes deserve. The despair coming from the knowledge your victory was never real, and now you will be remembered for all time as not a savior. Not a hero. But as a genocidal murderer. You will not be cast into a Hellrealm... for this is your Hell of your own creation. You are forever SHAMED. Have fun with that.
    • She gives another one to Brama, the Talon Bàisian Pantheon's Death god who sent Gael to a Heaven-Realm instead of a Hell-Realm as his crimes deserved, chewing him out for breaking the most sacred rule that all Reapers and Death deities must follow.
Princess Deireadh: You lot lead your mortal charges on a war of genocide and racist murder. Sins of which I would one day hold you accountable for regardless... but they alone are not why I'm here. Rather, I am here because of the sin you all allowed a mortal escape their just punishment for in death.
      Brama: H-How... I mean I-I don't know what you're t-talking about!
Princess Deidreadh: You do know. And so do I. I have always known.
      Brama: H-How?!
Princess Deireadh: ''Did you really believe that you could hide a sin such as this from the Princess of Feliaves Reapers? You were only allowed to believe you did so that you would know the true despair your sin warrants in this moment. You have violated Primeval Law. Law to which even gods far older and more powerful than you are held accountable to. And now you will go to your fate knowing you never hid such a sin from me... or the one which I work for. In other words...' We have come for thee.
  • To the Pain: She spells out to Gael exactly what his fate is — he was allowed to think he got away with it partly so when he learned he never did, his despair would hit even harder as he witnessed the entire world of both the living and dead learn (and remember) his true nature as a genocidal murderer. Gael was condemned not to a Hell-Realm, but to wander the border between life and death until the end of time, forever shamed and despised by everyone, and even in isolation he would find no peace as the scenes of the utter destruction of his kingdom and legacy would play out over and over again. It works, and Gael is left screeching in denial and despair at his doom even as he watches all he'd created by destroyed.
  • You Do Not Want To Know: She says this about whatever she did to the Talon Bàisian Pantheon's Death god, Brama, for rewarding Gael with a place in the local Heaven-Realms rather than the Hell-Realms as he truly deserved. Given that Brama broke Primeval Law regarding the proper administration of eternal rewards/punishments by doing so, she's likely right.

Atropa Moufette, the Princess of Mephitidae Reapers

Classification: Ascendant

Portfolio: Death, Technology, Familial Love

Rank: Divine (Tier IV/Greater)

"Hey, I might be dead, but that doesn't mean I don't like to party... or don't keep an eye on my big sis and the rest of the family."

Atropa Moufette (her entry here) is the Skunk/Alicorn hybrid goddess of Death, Technology, and Familial Love, and is Skunkkind's first Death goddess, being the Princess of Mephitidae Reapers.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: She's a Skunk/Alicorn hybrid goddess who embodies Death, Technology, and Familial Love.
  • Baby Of The Bunch: She's the youngest of the known Lords/Ladies of Reapers, due to skunks being a fairly recent sapient race. Due to taking the position, however, she's gotten powered up compared to a normal Death God her age.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: As an extrovert, she's an outgoing and friendly party-girl, which separates her from the older and normally somber Lords/Ladies of Reapers. She sympathizes with families who lost loved ones to death, including children, and helps them achieve closure. However, she is genuinely enraged with those who break Primeval Laws, abuse family members, and/or are mean to people for grieving, even if the one they are mourning is an abusive family member. Being a Princess of Reapers also saw her empowered to act in the capacity of one.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Inverted. She's younger than her biological sister, Princess Daphné Odora Moufette, but she is very protective of the latter, especially when people try Daphné into relationships or bully her for being a goddess of Poison despite being a daughther of Love deities. She even told one Love deity "I Warned You" after she skunked them for trying to "fix" Daphné's asexuality despite being warned of the consequences.
  • Celibate Hero: Justified. She's asexual like her older biological sister, Daphné, but is more similar to Moon Ray Vaughoof, her "Uncle Moony", in being a heteroromantic asexual. While she's fine with having romantic relationships and had many partners over the years, she sees sex purely as a way to express love for said partners and is otherwise disinterested in it.
  • Chastity Couple: Justified and zigzagged. While she had many romantic partners over the years, her views on sex are similar to Moon Ray Vaughoof's — she's disinterested in it, but is fine with having sex with her partners as a romantic activity.
  • Cool Big Sis: Inverted. She's younger than her biological sister, Daphné, but she's very supportive of the latter. She helped Daphné come to terms with losing her to stillbirth and accept that her domain of Poison did not cause the tragedy. She's also quite protective of Daphné and is enraged with those who either try to "fix" her older sister's asexuality or bully her for being a goddess of Poison — even skunking a Love deity who tried doing the former.
  • Delinquent Hair: Like her mother, Tough Love, she styles her mane into a mohawk. It's subverted as that's her personal preference, and she's a friendly and compassionate party-girl.
  • God of the Dead: She's a Death goddess who specifically oversees the death of the Mephitidae (Skunk) genus, despite being a Skunk/Alicorn hybrid as opposed to a pure Skunk goddess like her father. This is because she was the first sapient Skunk sired by Moufette, hybrid or no, to die in stillbirth, which qualified her for the position.
  • Hybrid Power: She's a Skunk/Alicorn hybrid due to her father being a Skunk god and her mother being an Alicorn goddess, and thus has the racial magics of both parent races.
  • Love Goddess: Like Tough Love, she's a goddess of Familial Love and thus has similar powers to her mother's, except her domain focuses more on bringing closure to families affected by death. Her domain also lets her help those dealing with the deaths of abusive family members, whether by "killing" any bias in favor of them to make people how truly horrible said family members are, or by bringing out repressed grief so people can properly mourn even if the dead do "deserve" their fates.
  • Made of Good: Her mane is composed of Love energy.
  • Magic Hair: She has a mane composed of Love energy.
  • Paralyzing Fear of Sexuality: Averted. As a heteroromantic asexual, her views on sex are similar to Moon Ray Vaughoof's — while she had many lovers over the years, she's disinterested in sex outside of a romantic activity with her lovers.
  • Smelly Skunk: She's the third known Skunk Pony hybrid and the oldest Skunk Death Goddess. As such, she can emit a horrible smell and spray a horrific smelling musk from the base of her tail. Due to her age, it's exceptionally horrid, even by Skunk God standards.
  • Tragic Stillbirth: Like Bossa Nova Heartstrings, she died in stillbirth, causing her family much grief. However, this did not stop her from visiting her family in the mortal planes whenever she got the chance, even though the circumstances of her birth led to her becoming a Princess of Mephitidae Reapers.

    'The Death of Rodents'

  • God of the Dead: They're a Death deity who specifically oversees the death of the Rodent genus.
  • Interspecies Friendship: Much like their canon counterpart's friendship with Death, they're a Rodent Death deity who gets along well with Obitus Equus, who is an Eohippus Alicorn god.

Táfos, the Prince of Avian Reapers

Classification: [WIP]

Portfolio: Death, [WIP]

Rank: [WIP]

Táfos (first introduced here) is Aviankind's first Death deity, and is the Prince/Princess of Avian Reapers.
  • God of the Dead: They're a Death deity who specifically oversees the death of the Avian genus.

Lobos Muerte, the Prince of Canis Reapers

Classification: [WIP]

Portfolio: Death, Tales, Fear, Humbling

Rank: [WIP]

Lobos Muerte (first introduced here) is the Canis god of Death, Tales, Fear, and Humbling, and is the Prince of Canis Reapers.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: he's a Canis god who embodies Death, Tales, Fear, and Humbling.
  • Don't Fear the Reaper: While terrifying and relentless, especially when pursuing those who cheat death or were otherwise reckless and disrespectful towards life, he is very respectful and fair with those who genuinely earned his approval. He also relents on his pursuits when his targets learn to heed his lessons, and he is a very famous storyteller.
  • The Dreaded: He is one of the most feared Death deities on Equus, and for good reason. One of his tasks involves hunting down those who either constantly cheated death, or were otherwise frivolous, reckless, and disrespectful with life, and he is known for being utterly terrifying and relentless with those he chases after. He only eases up when his targets start heeding his lessons and/or genuinely earn his respect.
  • Expy: He's based on the Wolf from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
  • Hell Is That Noise: His coming is often heralded by a haunting tune which chills even the blood of the bravest souls.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Prince of Canis Reapers".
  • Meaningful Name: His name means "Canine Death" in Spanish, which fits his position as the first sapient canine and the Prince of Canine Reapers.
  • The Problem with Fighting Death: Like his canon counterpart, he is deeply offended by those who treat life in general for granted and cheat death, whether via luck or other means. Part of his deeds as a Death god involves hunting down those who provoked his wrath with their complete disrespect for life, whether they be heroes or villains, and punishing them for their hubris. However, if his target(s) genuinely learned their lesson and started appreciating life more, then he'll relent.

Todfrei, the Princess of Dracosaur Reapers

Classification: Ascendant

Portfolio: Death, Freedom, Tyranny

Rank: Divine (Tier IV/Greater)

"Sometimes, only in death can one be freed from a lifetime of torment."

Todfrei (first introduced here) is the Microraptor Dracosaur goddess of Death, Freedom, and Tyranny, and was among the first of her species to gain true sapience.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: She's a Microraptor Dracosaur goddess who embodies Death, Freedom, and Tyranny.
  • Meaningful Name: Her Stand, Rage Against the Machine, is named after Rap Metal band Rage Against the Machine, known for its politically-charged music and extremely left-wing views. Todfrei was created by Dalong SynTech in the Second Age to serve as slave labor, only to be executed when she developed sapience, leaving her with a bitter grudge that she eventually overcame. Rage Against the Machine's main power takes its own name literally, disabling all technologies within a certain perimeter.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: As a Microraptor Dracosaur, she's one of the smallest Dracosaurs, which starkly contrasts her being both a direct subordinate of a Grand Primeval and the oldest, most powerful Dracosaur Death goddess alive.

    The Prince/Princess of Humanoid Reapers
This unnamed Reaper is the Prince/Princess of Humanoid Reapers, tasked with overseeing the ushering of deceased Humanoid deities. They first appeared here.
