    General

King Baarish, Father of All Elephants

Classification: Elemental/Ascendant

Portfolio: Water, Knowledge, Parental Deity (Elephants)

Rank: Divine (Tier IV/Greater)

"An elephant never forgets. And that is good; a fine memory leads the way to knowledge, and happy remembrance waters well the flower that is life."

King Baarish (his entry here) is the Dharmadeshvar Elephant god of Water and Knowledge, and, as his epithet suggests, the "Parental Deity" of mortal Elephantkind, having raised them to sapience during the First Age.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: Unlike his MLP G1 "Ponyfriend" counterpart, he's depicted here as the first sapient Elephant to ever exist, and he lived in Paradise Estate during the First Age as part of a group of friends who, like him, were born the first sapient creatures of their own respective races. He's also the reason why Elephants exist as a race in Equus - after his friend Zigzag regained her memories and divine station as Queen Mzazi and helped the "Ponyfriends" Ascend, he used his godly power to uplift Elephantkind into sapience.
  • Adaptational Badass: In MLP canon, he was known as Edgar, a member of the G1 "Ponyfriends" toyline whose backstory depicts him as a lover of flowers. Here, he's reimagined as a bonafide Elephant god who was born as Edgar in the First Age, but has since changed his name after Ascending to godhood under the guidance of his friend Mzazi/Zigzag. In addition to being extremely smart to the point of being able to remember anything with clarity, he possesses strong water magic and is the fourth-strongest of the "Ponyfriends" behind Mzazi, Tiara, and Isati.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: As a god of Knowledge, he's extremely intelligent and possesses a Photographic Memory, making him the smartest of the "Ponyfriends" alongside Kaldr, who embodies Wisdom. In MLP G1, he possesses none of these traits.
  • Animal Gender-Bender: In real life, elephants are matriarchal, with female elephants serving as leaders of their herds while male elephants are solidarity. Baarish, however, is not only a male elephant, but also the creator of Elephantkind and King of the Elephant deities in Hind.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: He's an Elephant god who embodies Water, Knowledge, and Elephants; the last one is due to him granting Elephantkind sapience after Ascending.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's a Gentle Giant and Honorable Elephant who uses his large size and trunk to help others, whether to retreive out-of-reach things or protect them from enemies. He's also an ancient and powerful god who's the fourth-strongest of the "Ponyfriends", and is capable of throwing around and crushing his opponents with his trunk. He also has no qualms over sitting on his opponents for a 'time-out'.
  • Canon Character All Along: He's actually Edgar the Elephant, who was introduced as a member of the G1 "Ponyfriends" toyline. It's justified as he changed his name to reflect his transformation into a god.
  • Commonality Connection: Platonic examples; his great knowledge and memory, as well as his love for books, allowed him to befriend Princess Twilight Sparkle, who has similar hobbies and personality traits. It's also mentioned Prince Crimson Star, the eighth son of Emperor Golden Scepter and a blind demi-Alicorn god, shares his divine domain of Knowledge, which is why he respects and befriended Baarish.
  • Deity of Human Origin: He was originally Edgar, the first mortal sapient Elephant. After his friend Zigzag regained her memories, power, and divine station as Queen Mzazi, he would Ascend to godhood as King Baarish under Mzazi's guidance.
  • Elemental Hair Composition: Fitting his divine domain of Water, his mane and tail is made of orange, perpetually looping water.
  • Elephants Never Forget: Literally. As a god of Knowledge, he is extremely intelligent and possesses a Photographic Memory. This can work against him, as he can get distracted by topics while remembering something, and can talk people's ears off once he got himself started on stories and knowledge.
  • Ermine Cape Effect: His divine regalia/barding consists of traditional royal Hind attire, with gold and purple armor somewhat resembling that of a war elephant's.
  • Gentle Giant: He's described as such in his entry. He often helps others smaller than him by using his trunk to retrieve out-of-reach things for them.
  • God Is Good: He's an wise, honorable, and gentle god who uses his enormous strength to help people smaller than him.
  • God of Good: He is a benevolent Elephant god of Water, Knowledge, and Elephants who created Elephantkind. In Indian mythology, Elephants are connected to Ganesh, the Elephant-headed god of power, knowledge, and wisdom, making Baarish extremely important to Hindian society.
  • Honorable Elephant: He's a very benevolent, kind, and wise King of mortal Elephantkind, being responsible for uplifting his people into sapience. He's also a Gentle Giant who uses his large size and great trunk to help others, whether to retrieve out-of-reach things or protect them from enemies.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: He would befriend Princess Twilight Sparkle and Prince Crimson Star, who are both younger divine Alicorns.
  • Interspecies Friendship: He's a divine Elephant, whereas his friends, Princess Twilight Sparkle and Prince Crimson Star, are Alicorns. His fellow 'First Generation' Ponyfriends also count, as they consist of a Moose, a Cutesaurus, a Zebra, a Lion, a Llama, a Giraffe, and a Camel.
  • Last of His Kind: Inverted; he was the first sapient Elephant to be born. After he Ascended to godhood thanks to Mzazi/Zigzag's guidance, he used his divine power to uplift Elephantkind into sapience.
  • The Maker: He's responsible for creating mortal Elephantkind, having used his divine power to grant his people sapience once he Ascended to godhood under Mzazi/Zigzag's guidance.
  • Magic Hair: His mane and tail is composed of orange, perpetually looping water.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "Father of All Elephants", due to playing a role in granting mortal Elephantkind sapience and shaping his race into what it is today.
  • Making a Splash: As the Elephant god of Water, he's an extremely powerful and skilled water mage. He can redirect entire rivers and create massive waves, breathe underwater, and swim at high speeds despite his massive bulk. Unlike mortal Elephants, he can generate water and spray it with his trunk without needing to suck in existing water, and he can weaponize this by spewing out drenching bursts, bisecting airships with a thinly focused water cutter, or surrounding his sucks with a high-pressure of water to increase damage potential. When combined with his racial Weather Manipulation powers, he can create massive rainstorms. Part of his responsibilities as the Hindian god of Water is bringing the rainy season to places under his sphere of influence.
  • Meaningful Name: His name means "rain" in Persian, which fits accordingly to his divine domain of Water and skill over water magic.
  • Meaningful Rename: He was once known as Edgar in the First Age. After Ascending to godhood thanks to Mzazi, he would change his name to Baarish, which translates to "rain" in Persian. It's appropriate given he's a god of Water and can use Weather Manipulation to a degree.
  • Motor Mouth: He's known for talking people's ears off once he's gotten started on stories and knowledge, though Princess Twilight doesn't mind.
  • The Nose Knows: His sense of smell is described as being very acute, so naturally, incredibly strong and/or foul odors can hinder him. The fact that he was knocked out accidentally by Moufette's stenches means that he doesn't visit the Great Skunk pantheon as much as he would like, despite his love of Mephitidia's perfumes.
  • Pals with Jesus: Justified; he knew Queen Mzazi when she was the mortal Zebra, Zigzag, from the First Age. When Mzazi regained her memories and Ascended, she helped her friends Ascend as well, allowing the once-mortal Edgar to uplift mortal Elephantkind into sapience.
  • Photographic Memory: His Knowledge domain allows him to remember anything with perfect clarity. However, this can distract him and gives him quite the Motor Mouth at times.
  • The Smart Guy: Both he and Kaldr are the smartest of the "Ponyfriends", as they possess the domains of Knowledge of Wisdom, respectively. In particular, his domain gives him an extremely high IQ and a Photographic Memory.
  • Super-Strength: He's the fourth-strongest of the Ponyfriends behind Mzazi, Tiara, and Isati, being able to plow straight through mountains with a charge and overpower mortal Dragons. He can also sit on an opponent to pin them down for a 'time-out' (though he admits Tiara did it first). Even his trunk is incredibly strong enough for it to throw around and crush opponents.
  • Top God: A "God of Gods" example. His entry notes that while merely another member of the Dharmadeshvar Pantheon, he is the King of the Elephant deities by virtue of being the creator of Elephantkind. He joined the pantheon after uplifting them.
  • Uplifted Animal: His entry notes that after he Ascended to godhood, he would uplift all Elephantkind to sapience, shaping his race to how it is today.
  • Weather Manipulation: As an Elephant god, he can manipulate the weather by spraying water into the sky and blowing away clouds with his trunk. When combined with his Water domain, he can create massive rainstorms. Part of his responsibilities as a Dharmadeshvar god involves providing rain for the country of Hind via bringing in the rainy season.

    Pralay

Classification: [TBA]

Portfolio: Justice, Judgement

Rank: Divine (Tier ??)

  • And I Must Scream: Having participated in Radiant Rapier's disastrous crusade against Malregnar, he was devoured by Vicearch Iniquitous along with his comrades and made to suffer 'Horror and agony without end' for millennia before they were released as part of a deal between Radiant Rapier and Vicearch Iniquitous. This traumatised him enough - as well as making him absent from most of his daughter's life - that he would not entertain a second go at Her and Her empire.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Knowing very well from first-hoof experience that they can't beat Vicearch Iniquitous, Her Princelings and their Empire, Pralay turned down Righteous Riposte's proposal for him to join the Poenans and perhaps one day resume their failed crusade against Malregnar.
  • My Greatest Failure: He considers his inability to be with his daughter as she grew up to be this, on account of having participated in Radiant Rapier's disastrous crusade against Malregnar and being devoured and trapped within Vicearch Iniquitous for millennia. Because of this he turns down Righteous Riposte's proposal to join the Poenans and one day resume their failed crusade against Malregnar, as he want to make up for lost time and don't want to spent another few millennia being taken away from her again.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: He delivers one to to Righteous Riposte, one of his former friends with Radiant Rapier and presently a Poenan, over his desire to recruit him into the Poenans and perhaps one day resume their crusade against Malregnar, believing that it is more motivated by his bruised ego than true justice he had since become so zealously obsessed with and being foolish enough to risk another few thousand years of imprisonment and torment picking a fight against a foe they know very well now they can't beat, rendering all the sacrifices Slanu, Radiant Rapier and others made to free them from imprisonment and torment All for Nothing in the process.
Pralay: Was us staying inside Iniquitous for millennia just for our families and friends who thought we were dead? Would running off to a fight we know we can't win and spending another few millennia with us gone all be just? Is it just for Slánú to work herself to exhaustion keeping us all sane, and redeeming one thousand of the most wicked, vile souls imaginable to stop Iniquitous from hurting us anymore, only for us to run RIGHT BACK and make it all MEANINGLESS?!
Righteous Riposte: ... She has to be brought to justice, we can't just - !
Pralay: You can say justice all you want, but if you ask me? This is all about the fact your ego got bruised and you can't accept there's something out there you couldn't beat. Next time you come here, I don't want to hear a word about Iniquitous or Malrègnar. If that's all you're going to talk about, then please, stay home.

    Varsha

Classification: TBA

Portfolio: TBA

Rank: TBA

  • Berserk Button: Being insulted - especially with excessive amounts of blasphemy and obscenity - is one button. Exploited by mad heroic genius Crazy Ant in one crisis to help save the day.
  • Expy: Of Indra, the god of rivers, rain, storms, lightning and war and a major deity in Hinduism, the Top God and king of the Heavens and Earth who also happens to be a bit of a jerk.
  • Gratuitous Foreign Language: Hindi, in Varsha's case, as demonstrated when he reacted to Crazy Ant's deliberate provocation of him.
  • Jerkass God: Varsha took a backseat and was unconcerned and uninvolved with a crisis in Hind which the New Paragons were dealing with, neither giving aid nor support for the heroes to help save the day. It took Crazy Ant blaspheming the hell out of him for him to act up in anger.
  • Smite Me, O Mighty Smiter: On the receiving end in one Drabble: When the New Paragons in the Fourth Age needed a lot of power quickly for a device they need to save the day in Hind, Crazy Ant, in another show of his heroic genius and functional insanity, realize where they are and who's the local storm god and tricked him into giving them the power needed by insulting the hell out of him. Varsha, who had been otherwise uncaring and uninvolved, became so furious he attempted to smite Crazy Ant with lightning, which were diverted to activate the device and allowed the New Paragons and their allies to save the day. His next attempt to smite Crazy Ant with a flood also conveniently washed away the remaining bad guys they were battling and helped allieviate a drought down-river.

    Yuddhsaa, the Righteous Wrath

Classification: TBA

Portfolio: TBA

Rank: TBA

  • Expy: Is one for Durga, a major deity in Hinduism.
  • Large and in Charge: As a patron of both the giant and normal Naga, she could assume a titanic form, which proves convenient during her intervention in 'Final Ragnarok' against Surtr and his forces.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Righteous Wrath".
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Like many Nagas and Hind/Indian deities, Yuddhsaa has several pairs of arms, and each of them wielded powerful divine weapons such as a sword, a trident, a mace, a net, and a bow with accompanying arrows.
  • Noodle Incident: In a homage to Durga's legend, Yuddhsaa is mentioned to have been responsible for defeating Jaavaarnaraksha, the Beast King, who had terrorized Hind in the mythical olden days and had even sent the gods of Hind on the run from his and his demonic forces' sheer power.
  • Snake People: Yuddhsaa is a Naga goddess and a patron of both the normal Naga and their giant Great Naga counterparts in Hind.
  • War Goddess: a goddess of war and battles who was Bellamos, the Divine Strategos' past mentor and present peer.
