Rebel Alliance

Black Knights

    Lelouch Lamperouge / Zero

Lelouch Lamperouge / Lelouch vi Britannia / Zero

Species: Human (Terran)

Homeworld: Terra (Earth)

Units Piloted: Sutherland, Burai Command Model

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jedi_knight_lelouch_vi_britannia_by_buckaroo91_dggnmjc_375w_2x.jpg
The Leader of the Black Knights, former Eleventh Prince of the Britannian Imperial Family, and 17th in line for the Throne.
  • Adaptational Badass: Confirmed by the author that Lelouch will eventually get this.
  • Adaptational Heroism: His interactions with the members of the Rebel Alliance, particularly his near-brotherly companionship with Luke, have done wonders for Lelouch's morality compared to how he was in canon.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: His Geass lets him command anyone against their will and could enslave anyone for life if he wanted. He is also one of the most heroic characters in the story, leading a rebellion against two oppressive empires. Luke also vouches for Lelouch by stating that his Geass is not too dissimilar to Jedi Mind Tricks.
  • Big Little Brother: Lelouch, who is four years younger than Luke, stands at 5'10" while Luke is 5'6" to 5'7".
  • Cynic–Idealist Duo: With Luke, takes the role of the cynic.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: He wears a purple and gold costume while Luke wears Light Is Good robes.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: With Luke after Shinjuku.
  • Foil: To Darth Vader and Luke. See the main page for more details.
  • Positive Friend Influence: Luke's idealism and morals begin to rub off on Lelouch; so much so that he begins to make better, more heroic decisions than he had in Canon, such as sparing the Japanese Liberation Front.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: After falling for Cornelia's trap, he received one of these from the crew of the Falcon. They remind him that he's not the only one who suffered under the cruelty of an Empire, and assure him that he doesn't have to be alone, as long as he works with them. They get through to him and he begins to work more with them.
  • You Remind Me of X: His Zero costume, the mask especially, reminds the Rebels from a Galaxy Far, Far Away of Darth Vader.

    Kallen Kozuki

Kallen Kozuki/Stadfeld

Species: Human (Terran)

Homeworld: Terra (Earth)

Units Piloted: Glasglow, Guren MK II

A Japanese/Britannian Young Noblewoman and the best pilot of the Black Knights.

  • Ace Pilot: She, alongside Luke, is the best Knightmare pilot within the Black Knights. The only opponent that's so far out of her league is Darth Vader, who admits that she's got spirit.
  • Badass Normal: Kallen (in the Guren Mk. II) briefly manages to hold off Darth Vader from pursuing an escaping Zero, and despite utterly wrecking her Knightmare in doing so, she still forced the Sith Lord to actually take her somewhat seriously.
  • It's Personal: She develops a burning hatred towards Darth Vader after he brutally kills her friend and comrade, Toru Yoshida.

    Kamane Ohgi

Kamane Ohgi

Shinichiro Tamaki

A hotheaded member of the Kozuki Cell and later Black Knights.

  • Screams Like a Little Girl: When he first sees Chewbacca, Tamaki thought he was a fake but when the Wookiee proves to be very real, he roared at him, making Tamaki scream in fright.
  • Undying Loyalty: Seems to be developing this not only for Zero but Captain Rex. He holds the clone Captain in high regard.

Crew of the Millennium Falcon

    Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker

Species: Human

Homeworld: Polis Massa (born), Tatooine (raised)

Units Piloted: Sutherland, Burai, Gekka Pre-Production Model, Lancelot Club, RZX-8 Melioadas

A pilot in the Rebel Alliance, son of Clone Wars hero Anakin Skywalker, and one of the last Jedi.
  • Ace Custom: Pilots the Gekka Pre-Production model for the Battle of Narita. After losing it in the battle, he steals the Lancelot Club and has it reformated into the Melioadas.
  • Ace Pilot: Not only is he a talented starfighter pilot, but he quickly learns how to pilot a Knightmare Frame, able to stand toe-to-toe against Suzaku, piloting the Lancelot, while in a Sutherland. When he gets his own Knightmare, the two are evenly matched.
  • Actor Allusion: When he and Lelouch are cornered by Villeta in a Sutherland, Lelouch introduces Luke as his manservant, Mark Hamilton, which sounds similar to his actor Mark Hamil.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Suzaku Kururugi.
  • Big Brother Mentor: While Lelouch hasn't said it aloud, he is beginning to see Luke as an older brother figure who gives him valuable advice.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Always comes to Lelouch's rescue.
  • Blue Is Heroic: He uses a blue-bladed lightsaber originally owned by his father when he starts his journey to become a Jedi and Rebel hero. He also piloted the blue Pre-Production Gekka and Meliodas.
  • Cynic–Idealist Duo: With Lelouch, taking the role of the idealist.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: With Lelouch after Shinjuku.
  • Foil: To Lelouch and Suzaku. See main page for details.
  • Light Is Good: He wears pure white robes in contrast to Zero's Dark Is Not Evil costume.
  • Morality Chain: Slowly becoming one for Lelouch, keeping him grounded and from straying too far into a dark path.
  • The Rival: To Suzaku Kururugi.
  • You Remind Me of X: Luke's idealism reminds Lelouch of Suzaku, which could be a reason why Lelouch trusts Luke so much.

    Leia Organa

Leia Skywalker Organa (born Leia Amidala Skywalker)

Species: Human

Homeworld: Polis Massa (born), Alderaan (raised)

Princess and adopted daughter of Senator Bail and Queen Breha of Alderaan and a leading member of the Rebel Alliance. Unbeknownst to her and most others, she is actually Luke's twin sister.

  • Action Girl: She is a competent fighter and a member of the Rebel Alliance.
  • Actor Allusion: Her alias in 'Nunnally and Threepio Held Hostage' is Carrie Fisher.
  • Cool Big Sis: Seems to be developing this dynamic with Lelouch.
  • Foil: To Cornelia li Britannia. See main page for details.
  • Good Counterpart: To Cornelia li Britannia.

    Han Solo

Han Solo

Species: Human

Homeworld: Corellia

An orphan from the planet Corellia, Han Solo is the owner of the Millennium Falcon and an experienced smuggler and quite the scoundrel, smuggling goods with Chewbacca for Jabba the Hutt before being hired by Luke and Ben Kenobi.

  • Actor Allusion: His disguise in Mao's Game is similar to that of Indiana Jones, another iconic character played by Harrison Ford.
  • Berserk Button: Messing with or insulting his ship, the Millennium Falcon.

    Chewbacca

Chewbacca

Species: Wookiee

Homeworld: Kashyyyk

Chewbacca was a Wookiee warrior from Kashyyyk and Han's trusted first mate, co-pilot, and friend aboard the Millennium Falcon.

  • Big Eater: Chewie nearly scarfs the whole pizza pan the first time he tries it and devours nearly everything in sight during the feast prepared by the Kyoto House.
  • Birds of a Feather: He forms this with C.C. with a shared interest in pizza.
  • Jabba Table Manners: During the alliance feast with the Kyoto Houses in Tea and Moonglow, Chewie grabs and chugs handfuls of the various fares, clearing up his side of the table in practically no time.

    C-3PO

C-3PO (See-Threepio)

Model: 3PO-series protocol droid

C-3PO, sometimes spelled See-Threepio and often referred to simply as Threepio, is a 3PO unit protocol droid designed to interact with organics, programmed primarily for etiquette and protocol. He is fluent in over seven million forms of communication, and developed a fussy and worry-prone personality throughout his many decades of operation along with accompanying the heroes on their various adventures, often against his will and to his great suffering.

  • Butt-Monkey: As usual, the universe pours much misfortune upon C-3PO even when far, far away from his far, far away home galaxy.
  • Can't Live with Them, Can't Live Without Them: It's clear that without R2 around, C-3PO tends to end up being captured, partially disassembled, or thrown on the scrap pile within a day. This is proven when he's discovered by the Ashford Academy student council, nearly blowing the covers of Luke, Lelouch, and Kallen.
  • Nervous Wreck: When in a dire or perilous situation, Threepio can't but whine and complain incessantly about how horrible his circumstances are. Something Mao can attest.

    R2-D2

Model: R2-series astromech droid

R2-D2, pronounced Artoo-Detoo and often referred to as R2 (Artoo), is an R2 series astromech droid who aids the heroes with his superb mechanical skills and fighter pilot assistance.

    Sabine Wren

Sabine Wren

Species: Human

Homeworld: Krownest, Mandalore (formerly)

A young Mandalorian with a flair for explosives and art. A daughter of Clan Wren and House Vizsla, she went on the run with classmate Ketsu Onyo from their former school, the Mandalorian Imperial Academy, becoming bounty hunters before being left for dead. Finding a new family in the Ghost crew, she continues her fight against the Empire before briefly taking it homebound and igniting an old wick from the Clone Wars. As a member of the Rebellion, she was the weapons expert for Phoenix Squadron and the Ghost crew.

  • Action Girl: Trained by her clan since a young age, she is highly skilled in many forms of combat. She even learned how to fight with lightsabers from Ezra and Kanan.
  • Dual Wielding: Despite not being Force-sensitive, she can expertly wield two lightsabers at once. Her skills are such that she could briefly hold her own against Darth Vader, even putting up a better showing than Luke, who actually can use the Force.
  • Tragic Keepsake: Ezra and Kanan's lightsaber. She carries and wields them in their honor.

    Chopper

C1-10P, aka "Chopper"

Model: C1-series astromech droid

An irritable astromech droid rebuilt from spare parts. A veteran of the Battle of Ryloth during the Clone Wars, he served as an astromech for a Y-Wing before his ship was shot down to the surface of the planet. He was pulled out of the wreckage and rebuilt by Hera Syndulla after the Y-Wing crashed in front of her house.

    Rex

Commander Rex (CT-7567)

Species: Human (clone)

Homeworld: Kamino

Second-in-command to Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and captain of the 501st Legion. While initially a by-the-book officer who rarely questioned orders, Rex's experiences during the Clone Wars led him to question the nature of the clones and their role in the war. After the rise of the Empire and the destruction of the Jedi Order, Rex left the military alongside Wolffe and Gregor and had their control chips removed. Fifteen years later, Rex joined a rebel cell at the request of his old commander, Ahsoka Tano, which developed into the Rebel Alliance. In this capacity, he often assisted the Ghost crew and joined them aboard the ship for missions.

  • Old Soldier: He was a veteran of the Clone Wars. Over a decade later, he appears to be in his 60s (despite being younger), but is still an experienced solider and his skills haven’t dulled.

    AP-5

AP-5

Model: RA-7 protocol droid

An RA-7 protocol droid who served in the Republic Navy as a strategist during the Clone Wars but was turned into an inventory droid under the Empire. After a meeting with Chopper, AP-5 defected to the rebellion.

  • Defector from Decadence: He was originally a devoted member of the Empire before growing disillusioned with their methods and goals, leading him to join the Rebellion.
  • Noodle Incident: Han mentions a time during Kallus's Empire days when the latter arrested him and Chewie.

Former Members

    Ezra Bridger

Ezra Bridger

Species: Human

Homeworld: Lothal

At a young age, Ezra's parents were arrested—and later killed—for speaking out against the Empire, leaving him to make it on his own on a Lothal under the Empire's occupation. A series of mishaps led him to join the Ghost crew and discover his Force abilities. Trained by a fellow crew member and former Jedi Padawan Kanan Jarrus, Ezra grew rapidly as a rebel and Jedi, becoming pivotal to the early development of the Rebel Alliance. During the liberation of his homeworld, he and his allies clashed with the Empire's Grand Admiral Thrawn. To take Thrawn off the board permanently, he used his powers to summon a school of purgill to take Thrawn and his fleet into hyperspace. However, Ezra was aboard Thrawn's ship at the time, so he was taken along for the ride; leaving his current whereabouts unknown.

  • The Ghost: He's alluded to a few times but he has yet to appear. And no one knows where he even is after he was taken into hyperspace by the school of purgill he summoned to remove Thrawn and his fleet from Lothal

    Kanan Jarrus

Kanan Jarrus (formerly Caleb Dume)

Species: Human

Homeworld: Coruscant

Padawan Caleb Dume was the apprentice of Jedi Master Depa Bilaba before Order 66 called for the culling of the Jedi, and his Master was gunned down in front of him. Renaming himself Kanan Jarrus, he, alongside Hera Syndulla, led the Ghost crew to strike against the Empire however they could. He eventually took up his lightsaber and Jedi training again when he met young Force-sensitive teen Ezra Bridger and decided to take the boy under his tutelage. Kanan was a formidable adversary of the Empire, having slain the Grand Inquisitor, and a pivotal figure in the growth and expansion of the Rebel Alliance. He met his end during the Liberation of Lothal, where he sacrificed his life to save his crewmates and surrogate family.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: He perished saving the rest of the Ghost crew from an exploding fuel pad on Lothal.
  • Posthumous Character: He's already long dead by the time the story begins, but his impact is still felt with the crew

Holy Britannia Empire

    In General
  • Fantastic Racism: Discrimination against non-Britannians is a national policy. Even the mostly human, Evil Brit-esque Galactic Empire are not exempt.
  • Look on My Works, Ye Mighty, and Despair: In their home series, Britannia was uncontested in military might, which is now almost laughably inferior when compared to the technology and weaponry of the Galactic Empire and Rebel Alliance.
  • Mook Mobile: Britannian rank and file use either the Sutherland or Glasgow Knightmare frames when in combat.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Slightly one-sided with the Britannians; many of them are disgusted with having to ally with "aliens" that were clearly more numerous and technologically-advanced then they are.

Imperial Family

    Emperor Charles zi Britannia

Emperor Charles zi Britannia

Species: Human (Terran)

Homeworld: Terra (Earth)

The 98th Emperor of Britannia.

  • Abusive Parents: He exiled his own son for daring to question him about his reaction (or lack thereof) to the death of his Empress, and even made his daughter Nunnally blind with his Geass.
  • First-Name Basis: With Sheev Palpatine.
  • Foil: To Palpatine. See main page for details.

Imperial Children

    Prince Schneizel el Britannia

Prince Schneizel el Britannia

Species: Human (Terran)

Homeworld: Terra (Earth)

The Second Prince of the Imperial Family, Lelouch's elder half-brother, and the current Prime Minister of the Holy Britannian Empire.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Schneizel's first appearance in canon occurred during the events of I Order you, Suzaku Kururugi. In this story, his first appearance is between the canon timeline events of The Princess and the Witch and The Stolen Mask, greeting Darth Vader and his Imperial forces when they arrive in Pendragon.

    Princess Cornelia li Britannia

Princess Cornelia li Britannia

Species: Human (Terran)

Homeworld: Terra (Earth)

Units Piloted: Custom Gloucestor

The Second Princess of the Imperial Family, Lelouch's elder half-sister, and the Viceroy of Area 11 after Clovis' death.

    Princess Euphemia li Britannia

Princess Euphemia li Britannia

Species: Human (Terran)

Homeworld: Terra (Earth)

The Third Princess of the Imperial Family, Sub Viceroy of Area Eleven, and Cornelia's only full-blooded sibling.

  • All-Loving Heroine: She's neither a warrior like her sister nor a particularly skilled politician like Schneizel, but Euphie works wholeheartedly to create a gentler world for everyone, Britannian or not.
  • Foil: Is one to Ciena. See main page for details.
  • You Remind Me of X: Her kindheartedness, royal status, relationship with Suzaku, and benevolent political stance reminds Darth Vader of a certain former queen-turned-senator during the days of the Galactic Republic decades before...

    Prince Clovis la Britannia

Prince Clovis la Britannia

Species: Human (Terran)

Homeworld: Terra (Earth)

The Third Prince of the Imperial Family, and Viceroy of Area 11 at the start of the series.

  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Clovis is still killed by Lelouch, but the latter stabs him with Luke's lightsaber instead of shooting him in the head. And it's more self-defense this time than cold-blooded murder.
  • General Failure: Lacks greatly in terms of military strategies, especially against Lelouch.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Instead of shooting his brother in this story, Lelouch kills Clovis here by running him through with Luke's lightsaber.
  • You Remind Me of X: Downplayed — Clovis just happens to share the name of Darth Vade- eh, Anakin Skywalker's romantic rival from decades before. Regardless, he considered them both to have been nothing more than wormy and pathetic politicians.

Britannian Army

    Suzaku Kururugi

Suzaku Kururugi

Species: Human (Terran)

Homeworld: Terra (Earth)

Units Piloted: Lancelot

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/commission___suzaku_and_darth_vader_by_neldorwen_dgaiz8c_pre.jpg
Lelouch's childhood best friend, and the pilot of the Lancelot.

Galactic Empire

Leadership

    Palpatine

Darth Sidious/Emperor Sheev Palpatine

Species: Human

Homeworld: Naboo

Dark Lord of the Sith and Emperor of the Galactic Empire. He projects the image of a frail old man, but he is a master of the Dark Side and one of the most dangerous beings in two galaxies. Vicious, sadistic, and terrifyingly cunning, Palpatine almost single-handedly felled the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic from within, with no one the wiser.

  • First-Name Basis: With Charles Zi Britannia.
  • Foil: To Charles. See main page for details
  • Villain Takes an Interest: He develops a fascination with Zero, saying he felt a great disturbance in the Force that he confirmed to be the masked individual when he first appeared. He fears that Zero can become as big a threat to him as Luke Skywalker and tasks Darth Vader with capturing them both.

    Darth Vader

Darth Vader / Anakin Skywalker

Species: Human-Cyborg

Homeworld: Tatooine

Units Piloted: Lancelot Club, VZ-01 Maleagant

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/commission___suzaku_and_darth_vader_by_neldorwen_dgaiz8c_pre_1.jpg
Dark Lord of the Sith and Supreme Commander of the Imperial Navy. Anakin Skywalker was born a slave on Tatooine before he was freed by the Jedi and became the apprentice of Obi-Wan Kenobi. During the Clone Wars, he was a hero and inspiration to his soldiers and fellow Jedi. Unfortunately, near the end of the war, he fell for the deceptions and temptations of the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious. Rechristened Darth Vader by Sidious, he participated in his master's culling of the Jedi and restructuring of the Galactic Republic into the Galactic Empire. Today, he leads his master's forces in the field and is the most feared man in not one, but two galaxies.
  • Ace Pilot: He's got the prodigious talent of being able to pilot practically anything he can get behind the controls of, as he flew his TIE Advanced down a narrow tunnel and dodge the Raikou shots with ease. This applies to Knightmare Frames as well, as Vader was easily able to master piloting the Lancelot Club in a short amount of time. Case in point, he was able to hold his own against Kallen in the Guren. And he was playing with her the entire time.
  • Always Someone Better: Given his decades of experience and mastery in the Force, there's practically no one he doesn't outclass in combat, strategy, and sheer power (save perhaps his master, Emperor Palpatine).
    • Luke has only been learning the ways of the Force for a short while and despite losing most of his Force potential from his defeat against Obi-Wan decades before, Vader still utterly outclasses his son both in lightsaber skills and Force powers.
    • Lelouch/Zero can potentially match Darth Vader in terms of strategy but in one-on-one combat, Lelouch is as hopelessly beaten as an ant to a human.
    • Kallen's sheer tenacity had actually made the Sith Lord take her somewhat seriously during their battle at Narita, but in the end, she still has to completely overclock the Guren to just derail Vader long enough to retreat.
    • To say nothing of Cornelia whose pride has continuously fallen short of Vader's fierce pragmatism in dealing with the rebellion.
  • Arch-Enemy: To his son Luke Skywalker and Lelouch vi Britannia/Zero.
  • Brutal Honesty: Vader does not mince his words, especially for those that disappoint or dissatisfy him. His criticism of Cornelia for letting her pride dictate how she deals with the rebellion is a standout example.
Darth Vader: [Cornelia] has proven she is as clumsy as she is arrogant and stupid.
  • The Dragon: Is this to his master, Emperor Sheev Palpatine, answering to no one but him.
  • The Dreaded: Remains this for the Rebels from the Star Wars Galaxy and quickly establishes himself as a symbol of fear to the Rebels of Earth, especially for Lelouch.
  • Foil: To Lelouch and Suzaku. See main page for details.
  • Frontline General: The Galactic Imperials refrain from getting involved in most Britannian skirmishes unless their help is requested (or in Darth Vader's case, when he deems their intervention necessary). When they do get involved, Vader will always personally lead the assault.
  • It's Personal: After C.C. give him a Mind Rape, forcing him to re-experience his worst memories. When he finds her, let's just say Cold-Blooded Torture is only the start.
  • The Juggernaut: There's practically no problem with the rebellion that Darth Vader can't just hack to bits with his lightsaber or simply Force out of his way.
  • Mythical Motifs: In Skirmish at the Docks he is compared to Death riding the Lancelot piloted by Suzaku like riding the pale horse.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Vader thoroughly dresses down Cornelia for her defeat and near-capture at the battle at Narita, attributing it to her arrogance and complete underestimation of the Rebel Alliance. Cornelia fires back about how the rebels still managed to escape and even seize one of their prototype Knightmares despite his intervention and for needing to be retrieved and brought back by Suzaku, a "lowly Eleven." When she goes as far as to mock Vader's belief in the Force, he starts Force choking her, as a final gesture to Cornelia demonstrating just how far beneath him she truly was.
  • Shadow Archetype: To Lelouch/Zero. Both are leaders with a Black Knight aesthetic and possess supernatural powers, but Zero is purely a strategist with average-to-poor fighting capabilities (on foot or in a Knightmare), whereas Vader is both a mighty warrior and pilot and a military genius. Zero has flair for the theatrics and setting up spectacles meant to inspire hope in the powerless, while Darth Vader is deathly pragmatic in his mission of utterly quenching any and all forms of resistance and insurrection. Finally, both have/had a Morality Pet that they would go to the extremes to save; Lelouch embarks on his rebellion in hopes of creating a world where his sister Nunnally can live happily, while Anakin Skywalker had sacrificed everything he knew to stop his wife from dying (but would ultimately fail to prevent).
  • Villain Takes an Interest: Vader quickly becomes interested in Zero, curious as to why his son Luke would ally himself with a masked individual. This also extends to C.C. after his encounter with her at Narita and learning that she is immortal. Vader also develops an interest in Suzaku, whom he seems to be steadily taking under his wing.
